Camille Rose Naturals Curl Maker Fail?!!

Hazel Goddesss: Comment down below your experience with this gel? I wanted to love it but I've NEVER used a product that flaked on me, especially as bad as it did. Also, don't nobody want hard hair lol. I still love Camille Rose products just not this one ❤️

aairika colston: This gel is bae! I've never had an issue. I can use it alone or with the curl love moisture milk. Its my holy grail gel.

B: It’s important to keep the hair wet during application. I usually keep a spray bottle of water handy when doing two strand twist. (twist right over left)

Ginger Snaps: Hi! I love the hair and the videos. There are times when the gel and hair milk don't mix well. I see that with Eco Styler sometimes. So, I started adding oil after the moisturizer and then the gel. It has helped a lot.

I used it WITH THEIR moisture milk and my hair was snowing the next day. It was so embarrassing because I was out of town at an event and everyone could see the white snow in my hair! I was so disappointed especially since everyone else says it is so good

HeyyItsAri: With this product your hair needs to be saturated in water. After raking through the hair add more water to further define curls . Also this product is very concentrated. You can’t be heavy handed or you will have crunchy hair and flakes.

The1NYCgirl: I always get great definition, hold and soft curls when using Curl Maker. For me, using it on top of the Curl Love ended up as a huge flakey mess! The Latte from the CRN Leave-in Collection worked much better for me but I've used several non-CRN Leave-ins and had great results. I always use the LOC or LCO but i like to make sure to have an oil directly below the CM and sometimes add a little oil on top. Another important factor I've found is, per the label, applying on soaking wet hair definitely is a must. This is a great gel and I always make sure I have a bottle in my stash but I prefer my WetLine Xtreme Gel over the CM and right now I'm thoroughly enjoying the Black Castor and Flaxseed Oil EcoStyler.

ayanatara: I used Camille Rose curl maker for my twist out before I went to the beach. I received soooo many compliments (even from white ladies lol). This was my first time doing a twist out so I was very pleased. It smelled good too.

Weza Magalhaes: The balls and the white residue may happened because of the mixture with the milk that you use with the gel. So do the test to see if they work well together. All that you have to do is, put both of the products in your hand, and rub your hands together. If you notice any ball or white residue, it means that the two products don't work well together

traycee3w: I love this product. Never experienced the residue. I did however experience the crunch, but I always do no matter what gels I use. Once I go through it with some oil I'm usually ok.

But when Was going to work next day for a major meeting there were super white flakes and chunks all through my hair! I tried to cover it up but couldn’t . I actually found your video trying to see if others had the same experience too or if I applied it wrong .... but your account is just like mines .. so I guess it was a product fail!

Mela Farinas: I never use the curl love for the base. It causes the flakes. Ive paired it with the curbside, less flaky but really soft. The perfect pair is the honey leave in and the gel, soft and no flakes.

Rhonda MONIQUE: I purchased this product over a year ago. I used it 3 times because I heard so many great things about it and wanted to give it a fair shot. Each time my hair was so flakey and I swore I would never use it again. Fast forward to a year later I looked under my cabinet and there it was. I decided to try it once again. This time I decided to wash, condition but not use any leave in or moisturizers at all. Just the curl maker. I LOVE IT! No flakes no crunch just curl. I think it does not work well with other products. Try it on clean fresh hair with no other product and see what happens.

T. T.: Epic fail for my daughter's hair. This was so expensive and all I was left with was flakes, flakes and more flakes. I want to take it back to Target. I used Uncle Funky's daughter which has similar consistency bit I didn't have that problem it's just super hard to find at Target in Chicago.

Melissa Brunson: TFS your experience. I had a "learning curve" experience with this product and came to the conclusion that it's just not for me. I tried it with the Curl Love milk and the combo left my hair haystack dry, hard & crunchy the next morning. I then tried it with CRN aloe whipped butter gel as my leave-in & I got super defined hair....with FLAKES. I haven't tried it with leave-in's from different lines but am not optimistic about the outcome if I do try.

Fly.Sistah: I used this today, after getting it from my sister about 6 months ago, and it was not hard at all. My guess is your hair wasn't wet enough. However, I did also get flakes on my soft wash & go. I applied this curl maker the same way I apply hair rules curly whip, on soaking wet hair. My hair had a wet look all day after the curl maker was dry, but it leaves a sticky coating when styling your hair, even after it's dry. I don't mind the wet look but the flaking is a problem.

just jenene: Some conditioners dont mix with certain gels. Makes white beady residue. I've had that experience.

m.: A tip for crunchiness: I usually like to add an oil on top of the gel after applying it to my hair when it's soaking wet and as it dries, my hair feels soft and doesn't have a hard cast to it.

LaWanda Thornton: I know you've mentioned you're not going to try the product again; however, I think the issue was that your hair wasn't wet enough before you applied the products.

iluvtheWEIGH iam: I didn't have this problem at all. I agree with a lot of people who said the same thing that I was thinking. You did not wet your hair enough! Not to mention you already added product underneath the gel. I would recommend you starting with a fresh washed head and have your hair soaking wet and just use the curl maker by itself. That might work.

Melie Love: That's crazy! Camille rose naturals is the ONLY gel that won't flake, leave my hair hard, AND moisturize it. Just two downsides, the hold for it to be a regular gel is not enough and it's too expensive everyone's hair is truly different

Indyah Green: I think your hair should be soaking wet and after you apply your leave in, follow up with an oil (loc method). I think the oil underneath the gel illuminates the hardness and the flakes. I love this gel and I tend to stay away from eco styler because the ingredients aren't organic and natural.

Kylasbibi: This gel works great for me. There is a slight crunch which if fine for me. After all that's why I use a gel instead of a twistout cream, so I can have more hold. As for the white residue, that was probably because your leave in didn't mesh well with the curl maker. Before I use any gel in my hair I test a little of the leave in and a little of the gel in my hand by rubbing them together. If the blend well, you probably won't get white residue. However, if when you rub the gel and leave in together and you get white curds form in your hand, then you will get residue. Good luck on your next try!

I use Curl Maker (L), Curlaide Moisture Milk (C), Oil (avocado or sweet almond ) then I apply the Curl Maker... it has a slight crunch but the next day it is soft a moist. I had my wash n go for almost 9 days... try it again and make sure you hair is soaked...

Simone Freeman: I had horrible flaking using this gel, so many say you have to learn the gel etc....for the price and to have to pair with only certain products from same line to not get flaking, it isn't close to worth it for me. I need products to play nice with others and not flake on me especially for the $$ this product costs. Glad you finally tried, I was wondering if flakes would be an issue for you as well.

The Third Eye Journey: Hm I've never had this problem with the Curl Maker before but it could be the climate you're in. I can't use it during cooler/drier weather but in the summer with this southern humidity it's almost like the gel meshes with the environment if that makes sense. I think it has a lot of humectants so it functions better when there's moisture in the air.
