I have been natural since 2013 and still struggling. My hair is really hard and I know people recommend spraying water on it which I do on a daily basis. But I have touched others' hair when dry and my dry hair feels so course and hard compared to theirs when dry as well. So I know what I am dealing with. I also have very thick hair which makes my troubles even more because I have to deal with more hair.
