Easy Faux Braid Tutorial

Learn how to easily recreate these faux French braid pigtails! this works sooo great with those that have fine thin hair, and can't get their braids to look bulky and thick! This is your solution!

Hey okay, so I wore my hair like this yesterday and I had tons of requests on a tutorial for it. So not like this idea where I like this, it was a different way. What I'm gon na show you my tutorial on, so I parted my hair down the middle and just separated the site, so I'm gon na be doing this side first and then you'll follow the same thing with the other side mmm. So, like I said, I just parted it right down the middle and separated the two sections. So first thing I'm gon na do so we're gon na need some elastics. I just have these goody there, the clear elastics you can buy these anywhere. So I'm going to use those so the first thing we're gon na do is we're gon na start off with just two taking this front section now this section you can take as big or as little as you want, but let me kind of show you so, Depending on how far you come back and how much hair that's, what's gon na be in the front? So if you want it real close, you could go real, close and real tight right here and do the same thing or if you wanted to start lower, you could do it lower, but what's cool about these is these kind of look like? First of all, can't French braid. This is gon na give you the look of a French braid without actually having the French braid. But if you have fine hair like I do even it no matter what kind of braids I do and if I try to pull them out, they still look really small instead we're these. This gives the look of a braid without actually on the braid, and it looks really thick and full because the way you pull the hair out and just the way it's done so we're gon na take that first section and your first clear elastic and I'm gon Na move mine down just I'm gon na, come down pretty far where I want it to start like right about here. Okay, so I'm going to come down this way and put my elastic in and I don't pull it or brush it. Super tight, just cuz! I, like a messy look so you're gon na I just I'm gon na wrap it around twice. You don't want this to be super tight, but you don't want it to be super loose either so just enough that it holds in there. But then you can also, you know, manipulate it. However, okay, so then you're take this piece, and this is how I do it, because it just makes it easy and I'm going to clip it forward. While I grab my next section so now, I'm gon na just take my fingers and you know meet them up and then they're back. I have this one back here at the ball of my head and I'm just I don't even know if all of the head was the right but they're, both in this same spot and I'm just meeting them up together to grab my next section of hair you'll Want this section of hair to be about as equally as thick now, depending on how big your sections are, that's how many bubble loops you'll have, if you want your sections, if you want it to look really tight like a braid, you want to take small sections. I have fine hair, so I can't really take too many other sections and you're basically gon na be placing this ponytail right where that section is so, you can see that underneath here go back and watch that to make sure I could you could see what I Was doing okay so now I have two ponies so now what I'm gon na do is I'm gon na take the very first pony, I'm gon na split it in half and then I'm gon na take the pony that I just created and bring it right through The half and clip it and then you're going to take your next section doing the exact same thing and you're going to include the two halves of the pony. Okay, so right here, I'm gon na leave a little bit of hair just right here in the front. Just because I like to, but you don't have to do that and you're gon na take another section, doing the exact same thing but, as I said before, you're including these ponies, and you see that so you're, including those wrap it twice kind of okay, exact, same Thing split this pony in half. Take your next pony clip it up here and follow that all the way down turn. Maybe you can see so now, I'm at the bottom and you you just keep doing the exact same thing without adding any hair, keep going so wrap around whoa I mean using a clippie at this point is probably not gon na. Do me go so just keep them separate. Okay, proceed! All! Don'T we when you get to the bottom and you have the two separate pieces, so I don't really have an app like you have to end it somewhere. So I'm still just gon na wrap them around and then put a pony in one okay, okay, now here's where the magic happens so now we're gon na go through. So this is what it looks like without pulling the hair out now we're gon na go through and pull all the hair up, and now I'm gon na go through and pull all the hair out. So I'm going to start at the top and the I'm first gon na pull the ponytail so that it's pretty tight okay, so like kind of just pull the hair apart, so that it kind of tightens that ponytail and then in this front area. If you wanted to make this a little bit bigger, you could kind of pull that hair out. However, you would like, and then you're gon na, take your two pieces, one on each side and you're just going to kind of pull pieces out, not necessarily the whole thing but just pieces and then you're gon na follow doing that all the way down the back. So you're just gon na pull pull and you can see it kind of bunches this up. That'S okay, because we're gon na work our way down there and again kind of pulling the ponytails tight. First then pulling the hair out and then just follow that you're just pulling the two sides. So as I get to the bottom, I'm just pulling the two sides of the hair that we flip, that we wrapped around the pony, so side, side, side, side, side, side and then, if you have, you can just pull your pony a little bit tighter wherever you Need to I'll, like this one's a little crazy that one out a little bit okay, so that area where it was getting a little crazy right there. I just took out one elastic and combined them. So then you're just I mean you literally. That'S all there is to it. You just pull those the two outside pieces, all the way up, pulling those ponytails tight and that's what a gift chip so easy. Okay, I'll finish, the other side, so you can do it looks like so all done I'll. Do a quick spin around so you can see it all the way, so that was relatively easy, not too hard, just lots of elastics in your hair, that's probably the only downfall. I also have a tutorial where I've done this just down the middle of my head. So you can just do it as like one down the middle instead of doing two, which is also fun, and it's also real fun that I can hear my kids yelling in the background. That'S also really fun. Anyways, okay, you guys thank you for watching as oh and hope. This is something fun for you to do, especially right now, where we have the quarantine going on and we wan na. I don't know about you guys, but I don't really like to put a ton of time into getting ready and I actually really like my hair pulled back and up and off my face. So it's just out of the way - and this is a great way to do it so and fun different okay. I hope you guys have a great day, we'll see you around.

Even if I say so myself it doesn’t look to bad for a first try! It does show my grey underneath right now but that is only until I can get to my salon. I’m kind of embracing the grey right now. Thanks Harmony this was so easy with your direction and it was also fun. Stay safe!

Missy Gee: I watched one of your vids from a couple years ago. You indicated someone actually criticized your big eyes - that they're too big to be real. The person thought you were photoshopping them. No! My daughter has those kind of eyes too. They were huge as a baby but she finally grew into them as an adult, but theyre still BIG! And beautiful. We come from a family that has those big eyes. Your eyes are awesome! Beautifully awesome!! Love to watch you in the morning.. You brighten my day! Can still learn at this age. Thanks for being such a Joy and Blessing!!

Kimberly Clark: You are literally my favorite person on YouTube! Please keep posting videos!!!

SHERRY Dropauer: Great idea! Looks so cute on you!!

Meg K: Do you still color matching?! I’m very interested. Thanks in advance! :)

Ash Alden: Okay first off you are so beautiful girl! What a sunny and bright soul. :) I can’t learn to French braid because I have an issue with my left arm. It didn’t grow correctly in the womb and I can’t lift it but a few seconds and it goes numb. I’ve had rehabilitation for it and I can use it now compared to birth where it was useless, but because it didn’t grow correctly I can’t hold it up or have good strength in it. So I can’t hold my arm up to do my hair really, and I’m left with just my dominate right arm. And it makes it soooooooo hard to do my long hair! I love having my hair off my face too just like you, and I love French braids but as I said I can’t ever do them. This is something I can do with my disability! Thank you so much for your tutorial. You are wonderful! You made my whole life complete!

Stacy Mercado: I just found you! And now I play all your videos because I learn a lot...and I love listening to you in the am as I'm getting ready. Thank you for sharing with us!
