Why your relaxed hair is breaking hi, everyone, I'm Dominique, and here I give you tips and tricks on how to grow your hair, be it relaxed natural. Whatever these tips can work for you before I get into this video. Please subscribe hit that little bell. Next to the Subscribe button, so you don't miss anything here on YouTube number one. You are using products that have too much protein in them. Protein overload is a real thing. You can get rid of it. You have to arm yourself with some clarifying shampoo and wash your hair a few times to get all of that buildup out and your hair will bounce back. My hair is protein sensitive. When I started using especially conditioners with no protein, I'm a huge fan of Aussie. Three Minute Miracle: it's gentle and it's such a great detangler when I started using conditioners without any protein in it, my hair really bounced back, stopped breaking and started to grow number two. You are not covering your hair at night, with a silk or satin Bonnet or using a silk or satin pillowcase right. Regular, cotton, pillowcases and sheets can suck the moisture out of your hair, leading to dryness and breakage. Also, if you toss and turn at night, that added friction will tangle your hair and then lead to breakage when you're combing it out number three. You need to reduce the heat styling direct heat on your hair will sap the moisture from your hair, and eventually your hair will break, and I get it when you finally grow out your hair. You want to enjoy it, you want to style it up, put some curls and waves in it. I get it, but if you do have to use heat products arm yourself with a good thermal protectant, I really like Moroccan oil. What'S it called Perfect Defense and Biosilk? Does a heat protectant? That'S absolutely fantastic! Lastly, get rid of those flat irons that don't have a temperature gauge if you must flat iron, your hair or curl your hair arm yourself with the best quality heat tools you can afford. I really love the Dyson Corral. You can control the heat, it doesn't get too hot, so it won't fry your hair. But if you want a super straight look, maybe this tool isn't for you. The ghd, Platinum Plus Styler is a fantastic flat iron. Now this doesn't have a temperature gauge either, but it doesn't heat up to nuclear levels and fry your hair. You can also burn your hair with hair dryers. I really love the Dyson supersonic, because again it has three different temperatures you can use also has a cool shot to set curls and waves, and it won't fry your hair, and I like, like I, don't know what they do, like whatever magic they're using with these Products, but this doesn't blow your hair in a million different directions. Tangling it it's really it's a fantastic hair. Dryer! It'S well worth the investment number four. You are not only flat ironing your hair too much. You are flat ironing your wet hair when you flat iron, wet hair that creates little steam bubbles within the shaft that right there is so bad God. It is boiling your hair from the inside out. Stop that you need to either air dry your hair completely or use a blow dryer Hood dryer whatever to get all of that dampness out of your hair, you should always be flat. Ironing completely dry hair see these. These are healthy. Edges number five. If your edges aren't growing chances, are you have traction alopecia from two tight ponytails, two tight braids, two tight weaves, you name it. You really need to stop that. Not only is it unsightly, it is painful and can lead to complete baldness. I think I'm on number. Six number: six: you are not deep conditioning your hair, so I I still can't believe that so many people are not using deep conditioners. I deep condition my hair every single time I wash it. I use that Aussie Three Minute Miracle. I will use any thick heavy moisturizing and hydrating conditioner that does not have protein in it. You have to do this, especially if you have relaxed hair every single time you wash it. You don't have to leave it in for hours. Just read the instructions condition your hair. If you want squeeze all the dampness out of your hair, add your deep conditioner add a little heat using a steam cap or heat cap. I buy mine off of Amazon and add that heat to your hair and let that conditioner really penetrate your hair. You will notice such a huge and immediate difference when you start doing this and then with consistency. Your hair will change for the better number. Seven you're not consistent. You are not consistently moisturizing and sealing your hair, deep conditioning, even shampooing, your hair you're not consistently detangling your hair gently, the whole nine yards. The key to success is consistency. You need to keep at it if you're super busy, you need to treat your hair care hair routine, like an appointment. You do not miss just like going to the gym the dentist, the doctor, you got ta. Do these things. If you want to see a positive Improvement in your hair, consistency is key louder for the people in the back, consistency is key and the last one is your relaxers you're, probably over processing your hair. When you over process your hair, that makes your hair so weak, damaged and brittle, you will start to see breakage, not only at your ends, but at the mid shaft, and that is so bad. If you don't know how to relax your hair, you've never done it before. I really don't think you should be relaxing at home. Get yourself a professional hair, stylist check his or her references speak to former clients speak to current clients. You know speak to the salon owner the whole nine yards find somebody who cares about your hair as much as you do. If you are relaxing at home, read the instructions on the box. Okay, you can't just you can't you can't relax, already, relax hair. That'S over processing rule number one don't do that you can't be leaving it on forever. Not only will you break your hair off at the root, you can get some serious scalp burns. You have to use. Neutralizing shampoo, neutralizing shampoo stops the relaxer from over processing your hair, and if you are relaxing at home, you need more than that tiny ketchup packet sized package of neutralizer. You have to go out and buy a whole bottle of neutralizing shampoo, and then you have got to shampoo your hair until it changes. Color neutralizing shampoos usually go from like pink or yellow to like a bright white when you're neutralizing shampoo has officially changed color. That'S when you know you've washed all the relaxer out of your hair, if you don't wash all that relaxer out of your hair with a neutralizing shampoo it'll, just keep processing your hair until it's fried and gone building on that, maybe relaxing isn't for you relaxing isn't! For everyone, You Really Got a Baby relaxed hair. You got to take the time by the products, use the right tools to keep the hair on your head. If you have problems with relaxers or relaxers are breaking your hair, you just can't manage it. Embrace your natural texture, natural black hair, is beautiful. It'S nothing to be ashamed of. It'S nothing that anybody should be shaming you for either black hair with the Kinks, the coils, the waves, You Name It. We have the most interesting hair on the planet. Maybe it's time you learn to love it and stop processing it anyways. I hope these tips helped you if you have other tips, please share them in the comments for everybody to read. HrhSophia TheFirst: Louder for the people in the back, back. All facts on top of facts. The deep conditioning is a game changer and keeping a hair calendar so you know when you did what is the GOAT of tips. My relaxed hair is flourishing and I implement every single one of these tips! Great video and a Happy New Year to you!

thatwildethunderchild: Yes! This is actually helpful. As someone with healthy gray natural hair all these tips you mentioned I have used to retain length. ❤ I would add that having hard water can also cause hair breakage but like you mentioned in the video a chelating shampoo can help with that as well.

C MC: I’m a 47 year old woman and now I have to choose between relaxing and coloring due to breakage when I do both. I don’t want to go natural as I am a 5z hair type. Would love a review of Madison Reed color on relaxed hair. Happy Holidays Dom!

ATLSTLCurls: As per usual, giving great knowledge and SERVING LOOKS while doing it...I am here for this shade of pink on you!

Happy Cute Box: My hair was breaking, and I used the aphogee two min treatment- it was the worst experience. A section of my hair at the front became a matted dreadlock. No matter what I did it would not detangle. I almost cut my hair off! I detangled it the next day and applied Olaplex, which worked well! My hair is more stronger now and has stopped shedding.
