My first natural hair salon visit in Africa for my shprt 4c natural hair with natural hair tips and tricks. This natural hair salon vlog is not one of the natural hair salon visit gone wrong type of video. It actually went so well!! In this video I show you how they did a professional 'wash and go' and everything that went into my first natural hair salon experience. Watch to see for yourself!(: My visit to Wash and Go Salon located in Lekki in Lagos Nigeria

The faculty services comes with a wash and go. I didn't have great experiences so, as you may or may not know, i am in nigeria and while i am in nigeria who would i be to not visit a natural hair salon, so today i'll be visiting a hair salon located in the heart of lagos. Nigeria wash and go, and so now fun fact very interesting fact, especially in the case of this video. This is actually my first time in my life going to an actual salon and it just happens to be in nigeria, so we will see together how this process goes. I love my hair, but i can trust them. I think i can trust them right. Whatever happens, i thought i'd still take you guys along this journey with me. We wanted to put a african spin on what the wash and go was so a wash and go for. The nigerian woman is pretty much coming and washing your hair and putting it in an all back style so that you know you can take a break in between time or you can prepare for your wigs. And so that's what sort of stemmed or pretty much influenced the naming of the brand wash and go? My name is zainab balugunwachuku and i am co-founder of wash and go hair salon here. In lagos, nigeria, the package services comes with a wash and go a wash and stuff a watch and clap a wash and rise. We have the wash and french wing, then a single services as just a single wash a single goal, a single clap, a single serve a single rice, a single french wave. My name is lucy termers, i'm a manager of wash and go, and i've been working with them for a year now, a popular hairstyle, that's actually for natural eye. Clients are always a deep natural twist and also converse like the object. We call that a wash and go. I ended up going with the wash and dip, which is the natural twist. It cost 9 600 naira, which is around 20, and i just want to take a second to appreciate the detangling process. I don't know if you guys haven't seen what has been happening, but this technique. I'Ve never seen it in my life, as you can see, she like rakes, all of her fingers through once and then goes through the ends of my hand. Like a fluffing motion, you can just see what she's doing, but she got my hair detangled, really really gently really really quickly with her fingers and yeah. I'M going to see if i can practice this method and use on myself, because it worked really really well and i'm so thankful that they didn't use any harsh things like they were super super gentle on my hair, like i was actually pleasantly surprised by this. They never used a brush or anything on my hair. They then just proceeded to shampoo and condition my hair all the products that they used on my hair. While i was there, it was, they came in like small one used little hands and they didn't have any labels or anything. They also washed. My hair, while i was still in those twists that they did so like it would stay detangled, which i really liked and then the twist just naturally unraveled as she ran water through them. So my hair didn't tangle back or not up during the shampoo process. We noticed that there was a shift in culture with women learning to appreciate their own hair, whether or not it's permed or it's natural, and we wanted to be a part of that conversation. I thought this little deep conditioning thing was really cool. There were a number of natural hair salons in nigeria as a whole, quite a few in lagos, but we're not a natural hair salon. We are a simple concept: salon with focused services. We are the african equivalent of driver for the african woman. Women were just complaining about, you know having to spend so much time in the salon or having to move from, say the station to the drying unit, or you know, feeling like um. Their entire day was lost, and by stripping back on those uh extended styles, we can get them out within two hours, because that's our promise as well. The culture here is shifting slowly, women are learning. You know a little bit more how to take care of their own hair. We used to be you know a very wig and, very you know, permed heavy processing, heavy uh community bolanio lucani. I remember in 2019 march we were talking about our experiences at salons um. I have only been natural for about three years. I had a low cup for about 10 years and found that i was doing my hair a lot at home because when you go to a salon they're, you know sometimes they can be quite aggressive, because natural hair seems to be quote unquote. Problematic um, i didn't have great experiences and neither she neither did she as a wig wearer right. So we just decided what would it look like if we created an environment that met both of our needs? As you know, a processed uh individual or somebody who has like processed hair versus somebody who you know doesn't and and it's natural, our vintage 50s pop theme - was definitely intentional. We wanted our clients to be able to step into the salon and feel like they're, not in nigeria, but in america there's also a style called the wash and go, but the american version of the wash and go is like you, washing your hair and like defining Every coil really really um specifically, and it's really not a wash and go in the literal sense of the word. But i noticed you guys: don't have any of that type of stuff where you like style it and wear it out like that on your um. The list of stuff that you offer are you guys like for or against that type of you know we we still get clients who will come in and do exactly what you've done, which is what we call our dip hairstyle, which is a head full of twists And have like a steam and a wash with that, and then they go home in about two weeks and they you know they take it out and they get a twist out uh. So we still have clients who you know want to try that. So i went home and i wore the style for like a week and a half a little bit over one week and now it's time to unravel. So they gave me this care package with, like some hair oils and other hair products. So i'm gon na use the oil and put it in my fingers. She does unravel and let's see how it comes out together, i was okay, i'm gon na wait for you guys to see it. Do you see the shine? Do you see the definition? This is actually my first time so this video is a lot first but uh. I recently went natural, and this is also my first time doing a twist out and seeing what a twist out looks on my hair, and i wasn't expecting it to look this shiny and defined after i finished unraving all of them. I decided to fluff it out a little bit more because i'm definitely team volume over team definition. The final result is coming in three. Oh it's right here, three, two one! This is the results, but yeah. It looks really really good on me. My first twist out ever, i was really really satisfied with my salon visit. I was actually really really nervous, but it was actually really nice to have someone else do my hair. For me, this video was not sponsored at all. I just went there, who knows maybe i'll start getting my hair done more by other people, because it was very relaxing. I kept this whole stalling for like a little over two weeks, so very very satisfied, and this is just one salon in lagos. There are so many different salons in nigeria in general, and they each have very different feels to them. This one, like they said, was meant to give you that, like feeling that you've just traveled back in time and abroad, but there's so many different types of salons in nigeria, so i hope you enjoyed coming along with me for this one. You

enelle B: She already sold me on this by how delicately they detangled her hair.

Lipstick Forever: I remembered getting my hair done in Nigeria. I had like 6 girls working on my hair. Very fast, neat, & affordable. When I returned back to America, the compliments were crazy! I can’t wait to go back. My experience was amazing at the salon.

Sprinkle of Serotonin: You’ll NEVER get that level of patience & care at natural hair salons here in America! That salon is AMAZING!!! Sooo dope & impressed

Ife Jaykob: This is one of the things that make me feel proud to be a Nigerian. Thanks for the patronage .

African Fhair lady: It can be so relaxing when somone does your hair gently. The saloon looks top notch.

L M: The fact that she used her fingertips to detangle your ends says a lot.. they know what they’re doing ❤️

Nikki Parker: They should license and franchise this! I wish they had this in my area. Yeah we have full natural salons here. But not the simple focus concept like this where you get in and out. That level of care for that price is amazing! I would love to go here.

Lucky.S Gems: I damn near cried when she said "Dry bar for african women". The twist out is perfect too. The retro atmosphere is on point, so cheerful. a great video.

Clevelandnative71: I’m a 50 yr old white lady and I love watching these videos. I started on this self edification because I didn’t want to be another white person asking an ignorant question. I have so much respect for the amount of time, money, care & effort and creativity that black women (and men) put in to doing their hair. I think a salon like this would do well in the USA

Ada Chioma: I wish they had this in America, I would go every week!

Kalen Combs: I loveeeee how gentle she was being. This looks so therapeutic! The twist out at the end was stunning!!

Miss Meredith: This is my dream! Going to a hair salon where people understands how curly my hair behaves. Without getting weird comments and without being afraid of them judging me and not being able to know what to do. I'm so tired of having to guide professionals. I just want to sit bakc and relax

Sailor Mars: Love the concept, the decor and style. May god bring them many successes.

Kayla Monique: Look how gently and fast she detangled her hair without a comb. Yet here in America some “stylists” want to add a fee if they have to detangle smh

CJ: That salon is amazing! From the gentle detangling to the way she washed it with the lose braids in letting them come out organically, to the oil scalp massage, to the take home they gave you. I was screaming inside. The decor and design is super beautiful as well.

Ms_Coco_ is_a_10: The way they did your hair is exactly how i do my own! I find it doesnt hurt AT ALL when i do my own hair. This video lets me know that my Nigerian roots are embedded in me naturally(no pun intended) thanks dad may he rest peacefully

J K: I love that everyone is masked and that they treated your hair with so much care! I miss Lagos so bad...

Naima Morgan: I wish I had this salon concept in CA. All that loving attention and no chemicals and only $20. I would be there every 2 or 3 weeks . We need more salons like this.

Ose: I'm so happy you made this video and the culture towards natural hair is changing in Nigeria. It would have saved me lots of stress years ago. I want to add for all the people saying that it's cheap because she gave the equivalent to $20. It's really not cheap for Nigérians. N9,600 is a lot of money and most can't probably afford to pay that for their hair. The value of the Naira has dropped so much and everything is super expensive for Nigerians but it appears cheap to others living abroad. For context, when i lived in Nigeria up to 2014, getting your hair washed & dried was like 1000 to 2000 Naira and braiding with box braids was about N5000 depending on the length, size, etc. So N9600 for washing and go is pretty expensive. I haven't been to a salon here in Canada because it's expensive to go in Canadian dollar and it probably the same in the US but also i don't feel that comfortable at salons. So if you find a salon that takes care of your hair well and you can afford it, support them ✌

RubyLovesRocket: Such a simple, yet genius concept. Sometimes we think of salons as these grand, fancy, expensive places that you only go to ahead of special occasions. But sometimes it's nice to just take a break, let someone else detangle or shampoo your hair. It doesn't have to be about hair dye & hair cuts & fancy updos and all the other things that some places offer. It can be simple, straightforward. Better to do a few things WELL than to be mediocre at a hundred things, ya know? This reminds me of salons and barbers from my childhood.

Nanda Unique: I’m so jealous I wish there was a place like this in America. Your hair looks gorgeous by the way.

Celebibi: This is refreshing from all the 'I went to an Asian or european hairdressers' and coming out near bald and damaged

Donzella Boyce: I could fly from LA to Nigeria, get my natural hair done, fly back to LA in the same amount of time it would take to get my natural hair done just going to an LA Spot

silent night: A hair salon that's actually gentle with natural hair. And thoroughly finger detangle s. No ripping your soul out from the roots with a small tooth comb???? No bald edges??? No permanent bald spots from demolished follicles??? Thought this was a myth. I never thought there would be a day I would actually see this unicorn.

Tai 17: What an amazing concept! I always wished we had an equivalent to drybar! Thank you ladies for demystifying natural hair ❤️

blazereh o/: You know you’re good at your job when you inspire other people. Never wanted to be a hairstylist in my life, but now as a white woman i wanna make sure I know how to take care of other hair types as well. I don’t think I’ll ever use the information but it’s just so interesting to learn what other hair types can do vs what mine can do (like putting your hair in twists then washing— my hair wouldn’t naturally come out of them and would just get tangled lol)

Miracle Ufodiama: Either this happens where I'm at or I'm settling in Lagos, damn the traffic. I was almost crying at the end. The way it turned out with her 4C hair. . The gentleness, the definition... The shine. The whole damn experience, so f*cking positive and in record time too. Different from my whole experience with my natural hair. There's one tiny issue I have here, why do you have to make clients feel like they're not in Nigeria? Can we make 'Nigerian' more positive? Ion know.

shiboof: Well, this old white woman is both fascinated and a more than a bit jealous : the salon was just wonderful and the result is spectacular. Gorgeous locks !!

starzzzy: This made me want to rock some evenly parted two-strand twists (which I am too lazy to do myself). Loved how the stylist finger detangled at the beginning

Casaundra Reed: She did a beautiful job, took great care and it looks fabulous on you!! She is killing us over here, with that less is more, they have going on. I am truly blown at how the majority of your hair was done with her finger tips... You really do a great job of welcoming us on your journey. I'm getting more culture... Thank you!! #HAIRROUTINEDEAD!!!

JenME: Sometime back in the 90s when I was a kid, I had an experience at a hair salon in Jamaica (based in someone’s house)where I realized for the first time that other people knew things about my hair that I had no idea about and that no one was teaching me. Gotta go BACK to my roots!

Michelae H: They did a good job, and those twists were PERFECT! This makes me want to grow my hair back out

Esther Aivinhenyi11111: Hi Seun, you are such an INSPIRATION promoting natural hair is definitely the way forward for women of African descent and by the way I like your hair final look at the end of the vlog, coupled with the striking resemblance between you and Ms.Lauryn Hill a natural African Queen just like you. Always remember keep doing you!

Keria Renae’: Everything about this whole experience is beautiful. You’re inspiring

Camesha Campbell: This video gave me life! I tried all of this on my 3c/4a hair last week. It came out AMAZING!!! Thank you for sharing this with the world.

Tonia Okonkwo: I’m about to cut my hair and I think I’ve found my go-to salon!!!❤️ Thank you Seun.

Jamaican mommy: That turned out amazing!! Beautiful I wish I knew someone who can manage my natural hair the way that lady wash and combed your natural hair with ease!I enjoyed this vlog, thank you for taking us along!

Jessica Virgo: Those twists looked so bomb. The entire salon visit looked soooo relaxing.

Alaur Faulk: Thank you so much for sharing this! I've been looking for salons on the island that cater to HEALTHY natural hair. As the last stated in your video, unfortunately natural hair is looked at as a burden too often in Lagos because there are many untrained stylists that don't know how to properly care for hair. Anyway, I'll be checking out Wash & Go. Also, I came across your IG page today and then later, BOOM, your YouTube video was recommended after watching something else.

Boluwatife Okelola: I didn’t expect the entire process to cost 9,600- especially being on the island, it isn’t bad. Another YouTuber, Sola Fagbemi, made a video visiting this salon to take out her braids (if. I remember correctly), and she mentioned that the stylists were timed to ensure that they were being efficient the entire process. Which I deeply appreciate, like Zainab said, I don’t want to spend my entire day at the salon.

Enny Vlogs: Considering I had to perm my hair due the ridiculous behaviors of hair stylists and the constant feeling of being different for having an undefined hair. Hopefully this spreads out and maybe only then I'll be encouraged to go natural.

Linda Johnson: Your hair looks gorgeous!! I actually love those twists and will probably get some once I take down these cornrows. Thank you so much for sharing your salon experience with us!! Their services are top-notch, and I will definitely check them out when I’m in Lagos.

Musical Memories: Wow!!! It's my first seeing a salon handle a natural hair with such gentleness.....no comb was used, my goodness! I hope some stylist in my Country is watching this.

TheVeganBerkeleyBeauty: It’s nice to be able to relax in the hair salon instead of being stressed out when you go there because you’re always watching your stylist to make sure she doesn’t do something damaging to your hair. This woman looked like she actually loved detangling her hair. She has beautiful hair, by the way

Just Being Janiea: The co-founder is an actress in Nigeria. I love her. Also, WOW I really wish we had simple but excellent natural hair salons like this here in the states. They want to charge you an arm, a leg, and your first born to do a simple natural hairstyle. It’s almost cheaper to get a perm and press. Smh.

Helynne Stacie: I remember as a kid going to a salon and getting my hair trimmed by a non-poc who claimed to be able to do natural type 4 hair. The style was fine (it took waaay too long, tho). Anyways, I came with my hair in bantu knots and I remember her questioning me about what those were. She was literally amazed

Ines Maria: Boa noite! Sou brasileira. Eu amo vê os cuidados que vocês têm com os cabelos afros . Parabéns amigas

Nkem Uche: Wow!! My jaw literally dropped after watching this..I have to say I'm impressed and relieved. I didn't think they have natural hair salons specifically catering for natural hair..this is awesome. I always told myself anytime I travel to Nigeria I would just put my hair in a protective style and call a day. Pretty much 90% of all women in Nigeria walk around with wigs or processed hair and I'm not here for that. I was especially impressed with the detailed gentle process detangling your hair. What a relief ..it's about time we appreciate and embrace our crown ..thank you Seun..I'm loving your videos

Annette Frick: It looks so good! Definitely need a salon like this here in the states.

Cheryl PGH: Love it! So glad they are starting to move away from the wig heavy culture. Our hair is amazing!

Ade Akili: I love the concept of that salon! Two hours in and out sounds like a version of hair heaven. I definitely need to get better at finger detangling, which is really to say I need to develop more patience when handling my hair. It would take me more than two hours, but less breakage is surely worth the time.

Venetta Simone: This shop got it right! Your hair looked good after and they were so gentle yet still efficient. I would definitely let them do my hair and I don’t let anyone touch my hair anymore. Here in America, the prices are too expensive, some stylists are too rough and quick to say the client is the issue, and seem to have no patience for detangling/managing textured hair. I believe a good percentage of stylists have no clue how to really take care of hair. There’s a difference between knowing how to make hair look pretty and knowing how to keep it healthy in the process.

Desmond Pinckney: This felt soooooo good to watch I love what they are doing in that salon! I want to go there! They should expand all over the world I know we would all benefit from such tender loving treatment of our hair and unique experience in the world. This is magnificent and I love how the co owner explained their concept, goals, and inspiration ❤

Syd: Thanks for showing us how other cultures take care of natural hair

gail H: im loving how they take the time to detangle the hair such care!! wow!! We need this in US now lol

Clanzenetta Brown: I would LOVE to go to a salon like this. It was the gentle detangling for me. The wash & clap would be my go to. I'd gladly pay $50 -$75 for this service.

Jessica N.: Such a beautiful result. I've been dreaming to find a salon like this in my city here in Germany. So far it looks like I might have to travel to the capital

Ashiya Nelson #VeganAthlete: I get my hair done in 2 strand twists. I don’t care much for a twist out, so I only wear it in a twist out style the day or 2 between my next twists. I keep my twists for approximately 3 weeks. This stylist is so gentle. I love it.❤️

Tausha Harris: Beautiful title..as an African American woman that has been wearing my natural hair for 20 years I'm proud to see this❤️❤️

TIARA TOVELL: It’s sad seeing so many comments on how they don’t experience this much patience and care in the US. I can honestly say I do and I’m thankful for that. It was so great seeing this and happy that your first salon experience was this awesome!

Forever Fly: It was seeing Janet Jackson’s first album by the record player for me (flashback)!!! So many memories growing up getting my hair wash and braided. Love the decor and simple wash and go realistic natural hair business model. ❤️ from the States. As an African American with natural hair to my waist I’d love to go to the salon and be out in 2 hours. I know where I’m going when I visit soon.

ILuvAyeAye: Your twists are so beautiful! A little kid once tried to put a twist in my (barely wavy) hair. She looked so betrayed when it immediately untwisted the second she let go. I told her that her hair can do many, many things that mine can’t.

Esther Massawa: seun, your hair looks super healthy, love it.

Rachelle R: Thank you!!! This is an amazing video!!! If I lived in Nigeria, my 3 daughters and I would be getting our hair done every 2 weeks! They are real Cosmologists.

Emmss: I LOVEDDD how they gently took care of your hair. I'm natural and I wanna go there sooo bad!! Must plan for this trip!!

Erica Smith: I would love to visit Nigeria just to go to this salon . The salons here in the USA don’t take their time like this, they could careless and over charge you

MariahPapaya3: This is exactly how I detangle my hair it takes FOREVER!!! But it’s so worth it

beans: I detangle my hair the EXACT same way the stylist detangled yours! It is so much better and easier because you have more control of your hair that way compared to using combs and brushes. It also saves your hair because breakage is minimal.

Isa Virtual: New subbie here! I wish there was natural hair salons like this here in Brazil. Your twists looked so juicy and shiny! Now I wanna fly to Nigeria just to do my hair lol and the twist out looked amazing also

Melody D: I love this ! Bout to plan a trip to Nigeria just cause of this video lol I wish I had a caring salon near me...I used to straighten my hair at a salon every 2 weeks and my curls disappeared cause it was so damaged it was dry and stiff lol took me a whole year of learning about my hair treating my hair the right way and cutting the bad ends which was most of it and now I have my beautiful hair again it took 2 years to grow to the length I have now. I get my hair straightened like 2x a year now other wise my curls will get destroyed at the salon...I used to think I only looked beautiful with straight hair but now I see my self beautiful with my curly hair ❤️ and the straight hair is just a change of style to me now. So happy. It really does take just learning the proper care.

Abi Sonoiki: Lovely! I liked your video on the use of relaxers. It's time we started taking back the conversation on our hair as black women.

Isra S Alí: They obviously understand natural hair!!! The finger combing was EVERYTHING!!! I LOVE Women who care for others. Allah bless your hearts

Shaughne Gonzalez: OMG I'm tender headed still & I've been detangling my hair by hand for the past several months! It just felt "natural" & is definitely more gentle on my head...now I just need to learn how to braid

Tana Rich: I love how they pay attention to detail with our hair. Our hair needs a detailed and gentle touch

Clever Monroe: Seun, you are a ray of light. Pure sunshine. I will watch every second of an ad for you! Thank you for taking us along as you experience the motherland. Your twists looked amazing! A-MAZE-ING! I also adored the twist out. I noticed I would frequently watch but wasn’t subscribed Can’t believe myself lol Of course I made sure I “hit that subscribe button” because it warms my heart to support a gentle soul like you, Seun Okimiii ❤️

k cruz: This is absolutely what I need here in NC, the gentleness and respect of time ❤️

Ann B: I haven't been to a salon in over 7 years. I've forgotten how nice it feels when someone else to does your hair (when they know what they are doing).

MB: They did a great job! You should consider making a video on why you went to Nigeria if you're willing to share!

Tamoy Fuller: They did an amazing job. She did your hair like it was her own. You don't get that kind of care in a lot of salons. Especially when you're hair is natural.

E D: The camera person is giving us ALL the angles!!!

Amber Tinei: I love this I think this is amazing! I so enjoy watching the way the woman detangled the hair and listening to the founder speak on why they started the salon. Super inspiring

Zizipo Lusizi: Love this, wish we had something like this in Mzantsi. I stopped going to salons 8 years ago when I decided to go natural, they would pull my hair so badly to a point that my neck would crack

Snobby Kat: Wow!!! Loved everything about this! The salons design is absolutely beautiful and your hair looks great!!! Thanks for sharing *saving video*

colorfunch: I love this, I wanted to visit a natural hair salon during my visit but was so nervous I decided against it, now I have hope seeing this. Thanks!

Della Dabner: I'm so jealous of your experience. It looked so calming and relaxing. The twist out came out beautifully.

Lola Anthony: I need you to go to every hair salon in Nigeria or at least in Lagos. I am living vicariously through you until I can go to Nigeria again. I can't wait to have my first hair salon visit too and now it has to be in Nigeria. The way she handled your hair is like nothing I've ever seen before. I need this ASAP.

Valerie Carre: This is how I detail. Separate with hands first. I use brush wide wide brush. Never dry i wash in twist. Detangle with conditioner firsts

Taneisha Reign: I wash and condition my daughters while it’s loosely braided because it’s so thick. It definitely helps with detangling!

mijac2: I loved watching your experience! I definitely wish there was a salon like this in the states.

Teleah: Absolutely love the way they handled and styled your hair!

Ani: That Salon was beautiful love the decor and ambiance, and LOVE that they know wtf they actually doing ! They weren’t just playing in your hair for a FEE .

11kwright: So nice with the twist and equally gorgeous when you untwist it. So good to see black women all over the world US, UK, Nigeria, etc etc loving and appreciating our oen natural hair. Is the way to go forward. No more stupid straightening. Curly natural hair is gorgeous.

M C: I love when black women wear natural hair. I really love this style and you look so pretty with it!!! ❤️

NaydraSnowfield: "Team Volume over Team definition" I'm so glad you said that!! defined hair is certainly beautiful but, nothing beats the fluffy Cloudy look. I rather have my hair look bigger and undefined than defined and squished. Great Video!

Mystic Diamond: This was amazing! Not one brush only a small wooden pick to get your parts straight?! The sorcery!! Your hair looked so good and only 20 bucks!! Wow! I need to learn that detangling method for my daughter's head. Subbed

Elizabeth Ashe: I love this concept!! We need something like that here in Florida. I would love to wear more wigs, but I don’t know how to braid my hair back. ❤️

Atriel Bush: Beautiful and I would love this experience here in California. How gentle they were with her hair was calming to watch

IHUOMA ARIWA: Yes, that's my nija ladies doing what they know how to do best. I love this video and i'm subscribing now!

NaturalMystic88: I follow another Nigerian beautician for natural hair and she is the bomb! The way she can grow our natural hair is amazing. This salon is amazing as well. Now I need to plan a trip to Lagos!
