If i did it this week and i see a difference - i'm gon na - let you know so i would do a lot of um free work like i would do something for you, maybe like once a month or once every other month, hey y'all. So i'm back with another sit down talking video. This video is my first, i guess special tip video, as you can tell by the title. This video is just centered all around about how to build your clientele as a beginning stylist, and how to build your portfolio. Really pertaining to whatever business you own or run if you are just now starting out as an entrepreneur overall, these are some really really helpful tips. These are tips that specifically helped me that i specifically stuck with and that i seen actual real results in doing five. Um important tips i'm going to follow this video up, um, maybe another week or so with another five tips that i find helpful. I kind of want to go into depth and what i mean and how i see results and what these things did for me. Um and what these tips helped help me accomplish. So if you want to hear a couple tips on how to build your clientele and how to just build your portfolio as a small business owner, some of the tips are specifically catered towards. Cosmetologists as i am a licensed cosmetologist, so i'm speaking to y'all, but if you happen to find this video - and you are just not starting a small business - this can also help you, because, ideally, we all kind of have to build up a credible clientele and a Credible product service, whatever it is, we offer so stay tuned and let's jump right on into this video, i'm so excited to be doing this make sure you are subscribed, make sure you leave me a comment below if this is helpful for you and if you like, These type of videos, i plan to do more, of course, so if you let me know, then i can kind of get with the flow you know so first tip promote, promote, promote like it is um. Your last thing to do the only thing you can do: okay, promote on all your social media platforms. I mean tic toc, twitter, instagram, snapchat, facebook, myspace, aol, um, um, email, promo on all social medias. If you have a youtube promoted - and you can even start off by promoting by just doing styles on yourself and recording it um and posting that so everybody can see but promote yourself promote your brand like it is the only brand that exists. Okay, i've been doing this since 15.. I'M not new to this, i'm very true to this. Okay, i've been doing this since 15. I stay on social media constantly promoting and posting myself and posting janet call custom, jaina, cocos and jaden cocos and jaden cole custom, hashtagging, jada girl, custom, jazzy, called custom, janet gold, custom wearing j cole custom, j, nicole custom, j, nicole custom. Okay, jenny call custom yeah, you just want to be active, though you just want to be active on your social media platforms, and i know it's fun and everything posting memes and posting gifs and posting funny content and posting um shock value, type posts and pictures and Everything - that's really fun, but right now we're not really here to have fun. We'Re really here to build a business and build a clientele and incredible clientele. There is a way that you can kind of um integrate funny mean relatable stuff, that's kind of trendy, and that's that you know that'll give people you know commonly in post or responding, but keep it to a really low minimum, especially like in the beginning. You don't necessarily have to post so much about you or selfies. Nobody really wants to see your selfies. They want to see what you do, what you offer and how good how good it is, how good you are um. They want to see that you actually working towards your brand versus just always seeing you or seeing what's seeing you talk about what you do or what you offer, or what you want to do instead actually put some action behind that and do some work and post That and be active post things that's related to your business. If you have not started, are you trying to build your portfolio post things that are relatable to the type of service that you are second thing? This is gon na be a little like, but do some free work offer some free services offer some pre free products. Whatever the case is, do some free work? I tell everybody this. You got ta pay a dues. You have to pay your dues, no matter what industry, no matter what degree you got, no matter what experience you got, no matter who you've worked with in the past, no matter what you started with and where you had not like. You have to pay a dues when it comes to building a brand building a business um doing somebody's hair, doing somebody's makeup. Whatever it is, you got ta start at the bottom. You literally have to start somewhere. You have to start somewhere, and especially i. This was very helpful for me because, like i would do free work, maybe like once a month when i first started out, i would do a free, um and in the free work. What i would do. I would do free medium box braids or jumbo braids, because those are my quickest styles. It did not take a long time at all. I did not use a lot of product or hair um and, like i said it was my quickest style. So i would do a lot of um free work like i would do something for you, maybe like once a month or once every other month, and also by doing free work. You are able to get able to get followers to come to your page. You able to get interaction and engagement with your followers with the people who have supported you in the beginning. The way for people to be on your page so essentially like it's literally a reason for somebody to see anything. That'S free somebody's gon na click on that and be like free. What and this hairstyle so like if you offer um body products or hair care or clothing, offer a free outfit offer a free piece or offer a free edge control or lip balm. If you know for whoever shares it and it's not giving them seven steps to do before they get entered into the raffle literally, if you are just not beginning and you're, trying to build a credible client base in the clientele offer free services repost this or tag Two friends or tag three friends or tag one friend whatever you want your one rule to be make it that, but don't give them like six rules. Three rules, if you literally, are just starting out because they're not going to see it as worth it, because they don't even know one the quality of your work. If this is somebody new on your page, if you're offering all i mean if you offer something free, but you want them to do 10 different things, they're not going to be prompted to do that because it's our they already don't really know much about your brand Tag one person for a chance to enter, and then, if i get 10 people to tag one person, that's 20 people that have already seen my post people love free work, people just love, free work, do free work, pay your dues and be okay with not getting Paid in the beginning, because really in the beginning, you are just focusing on building yourself up, you are focusing on building your brand. You are focusing on becoming credible and somebody that people can uh refer and somebody that's reliable and somebody that's professional and somebody that everybody is looking for. Okay. They want to feel like. Oh, my god, this is i mean i want to get her experience. I really want to experience this because i've heard about her or i've heard about this - or i know about this or i've seen this. So maybe this is my chance to really try it out and i don't got to spend no money. What could it hurt? Let me share this little post, you know, so that's how number three um i did a post on this on my facebook page. Invest! So listen when you hear infest, invest kind of sound like oh okay, i'm building i'm building here. How do i don't got the money trying to get the money i'm trying to work towards that? You know what i mean you don't necessarily want to spend the little money that you do have or the little money that you are making um when, in reality, that's really what you're going to do, especially in the beginning of building any business. You are going to take a lot of that profit that you make and flip it back into your business until you are able to see like maximum profit and just a nice significant amount of profit, that's just the t that is no way around it. Unless you are blessed enough to have somebody investing you from junk or you get grant money or you get funding or you have somebody, that's just behind you backing you 100 right. So when you're here invest, don't necessarily get nervous and get like. Oh girl, i got my money to be doing all that right. No, investing literally, can be something so simple as paying for a price for an app you use. So, like my video maker app, i paid for a price, i did the yearly um description because i knew um i had to make youtube videos. You know i have to make youtube videos. I have to be consistent with youtube videos. I want them to progressively get better and quality and just like gifts or pictures or icons or pop out words or animations, or i want to be able to add music or i want to be able to add um pictures to my videos. Whatever the case may be, i want to be able to have all the options that i can to do my video so pay for the app that you like the most. If you know for a fact that this app is going to give you the results you want as far as branding and marketing your social media platforms pay for it, that is an investment by you spending and if you don't do yearly, which is like 40, something Dollars you can do monthly, which is like three dollars or five dollars. Whatever the case may be, um investing also could be buying one thing in a day towards your business or one thing a week towards your business, you don't always have to spend 200 plus dollars or 100 plus dollars. Small investments mean something too: invest, invest in a ring light, so you can take quality pictures find something small to start with. You don't have to get the hundred dollar ring like you, don't need anything. I also posted this on my facebook that when i first started out - and i didn't know nothing about nothing, but i knew i wanted to record youtube videos. I started with vegetable cans as my tripod and the sunlight as my ring light, and that was just that and i was so content it kept it simple. I knew my setup is stay. It was easy, you know what i mean like. I didn't spend no money, but i bet you i made it work, don't be scared to invest, because i promise you investing in yourself being able to bet on you at the end of every day is what's gon na put you where you need to be is: What'S gon na take you where you see yourself going it's literally the best thing that you can do for your business and yourself is investing yourself. Okay, so number four show behind the scenes. Type stuff show behind the scenes, um products that you get practicing, that you doing working that you're doing anything related to that business. Anything that you have done, that's new for the business document. It show everybody that, like hey, i'm really working towards this business, i'm really working towards perfecting the style, i'm really working towards um, making this product better. Whatever the case may be, show people that you actually are working show behind the scenes. What goes into the business or what goes into you, know your startup or whatever the case may be, tell people that you can even show people what keeps you motivated. How do you stay motivated during the day you can film little clips of you, waking up drinking your coffee or your tea. Doing your facial routine. You can put this stuff, you can make reals. You know what i mean just like your day-to-day. How do you stay organized? How do you know what your next goal is? What do you do when you knock off goals? Do you celebrate? Do you like? What do you do? You know what i mean like you can show the inside scoop on your small business. You get new purchases, you can show that before it's all pretty packaged and set up in stage for the the product picture and the aesthetic of the picture like you can show them behind the scenes and actual relatable stuff and real life stuff like progress, progress picture. So, like i said, a good progress picture would be a side by side of the vegetable cans and the sunlight versus my ring light. That'S a progress like, oh my god, small wins still matter. Like look at me. Look at me. I don't bought a ring like if you switch bottles progress, pictures for your products, if you, if you switch bottles for your products, take that take a picture of what you started with versus, where you are now learn how to uh braid a little bit tighter. Take that and i'm not talking wait a year wait two years to post your progress. Pictures! No do it. While you see growth, do it when you see a girl so like for me, i was always doing comparisons. While i was building while i was building my brand and while i've been building my brand, i always always post comparisons as to what it looked like. Two months ago versus what it looked like now, yeah, that's how yeah i'm working care if it was last week. If i did it this week and i see a difference - i'm gon na - let you know i'm literally gon na - let you know after my client's, hair, uh hair grows out and it starts to transition. Just as she can see her progress, everybody else gon na see it too, because this is not a game. I'M not kidding here, that's just a pro tip um and that also gets your followers engaged. Even though people might not comment, they might not interact with you. They might not be all under there like ooh go girl, i'm not worried about that. You might only get two likes just know, though people see you, people are seeing you, people are seeing you, it does not matter how much engagement you get it's about being authentic and just being somebody relatable, because i promise you people that is watching and just anticipating This growth and just just excited to see it whether they comment or not, is people that is watching, and i know that for a fact. Like perfect example, though, i don't have too many comments on youtube. That'S all right because i know i know i know for a fact. People see me. I know i don't care if they watch the whole video. I know for a fact. People see me okay and it's not about right now. So much as the numbers. It'S really just me and being consistent, it's really just you and being consistent and sticking to the plan and not getting distracted. Last but not least, my favorite one um, because i always get a lot of compliments saying y'all up. I always get a lot of compliments on this um and yeah. I commend myself because it is pretty lit, but brand identity. What is brand identity? Let'S sum it up as um your bio, your aesthetic. What is it that you do? What is it that you like? What is it that you want your brand to look like? Who are you as a person who are you as a stylist as a business owner? Who are you as a friend as a as a coworker? Who are you? What do you offer? What do you like, and i always get compliments on my space, even when i was in my house, and i had my back room all situated and set up, which i think i want to do before and like then and then and now, video of where i Used to take my clients and now what i my space that i'm in now um, even though don't get me wrong, i loved being in my house, i was just comfortable. It was easy. I loved my room, my space, that i created. I really worked hard on that one too, and i really made it comfortable for me and for my clients, so everything i think about my space is just black girl, spiritual, boho, very much like peaceful. When you come in the tone is set. I set the tone in my space you're gon na feel the energy when you walk in you're gon na feel, like oh, she put she put her foot in this yeah. She really created this space. She really, you know what i mean um work towards having this type of space and having this type of setup yeah. I thought she really made this intentional yeah. I made this intentional. I made this just for us. I made this just my clients. I made this specifically for me too, because i need to work in a certain type of space. You got it all, so you understand you. This is my brand. This is who i am as a person um, and some people don't necessarily tie themselves into their brand, which i don't really see how that is easy to do or effective to do. But this is me as a person outside of here and outside of work, like i'm still just kind of like this chill um eccentric, black spiritual girl. You know what i mean like in all honesty, um now, as far as um social media goes, brand identity is just sticking with a theme sticking with the colors sticking, with a concept sticking with context being intentional about what you post. Who are you like? What do you do? What, like you know like give it some structure, you need structure and then that creates your brand identity like what they see like people, should be able to see something and know like that's you and focus more so on what who you are as a person stop. Looking at what's trendy and what's getting people clout really fast because one, i don't believe in that, whatever the height dies down, believe it or not the hype, stop the hype died down um, but like really focus on i'm telling you being authentic and just being yourself And your business like you can never lose. You can never forget how to do that because it's you, you know what i mean you can never try to stay on no trend, because the trend is you like i'm the trend, i don't i'm not trying to follow. One you know i'm going to court, i'm going to defeat my own drum i'm going to what works for me, i'm going what i i'm going to what i see works for me honestly, creating this is a pro tip, creating your brand identity and sticking with your Personal, aesthetic and just who you are as a person and building your brand off of that and basing your brand off of that honestly drives in the clientele that i aspire to have i attract, i simply attract what it is that i want by being me, and Just posting things that resonate with me and my clientele base and my little tribe i got going on over here, also in your brand identity, by just being authentically you and tying it in tying in what it is that you, like your specific type of clientele, will Gravitate towards you, i will say, as i wrap this all up, because this is all five tips for now um. You want to make sure that you are protective of your space. You go by intuition. Some people will try to take advantage, even though you are doing free work. Don'T let them take advantage, have rules have requirements, just have to stand firm and just know like one. I can't do everything that the customers want, because at that point it'll be a customer. Ran business in reality, i'm a lose sight of this being my business and something that i'm passionate about. You know what i mean like you can't let nobody you can't let too many people kind of steal you from your purpose. As far as your business goes, because people will try um, subconsciously or consciously like it's it's just in human nature, but as well as that, like you, just kind of want to like understand, go through it's so cliche, but like go through building your business plan and Building a business pitch and now that i've um, i don't know if you've seen my last vlog, but since i've been doing this pitch competition, i've really been able to further understand my brand identity and exactly what it is that i'm doing what's my goal: what's the Blueprint like what do i see my, where do i see my business going? What is it that i really want to do? What is it that i'm working towards you know what i mean and like just by doing this pitch, i was able to ask myself those questions or people have asked me a couple. Questions and i've been able to actually sit down and think about it and think about it thoroughly, like you're, not in a rush here, um, it's better late than never to get started, but don't rush it because nine times out of 10 anything that's rushed and anything That you're forcing to come up and come out you'll be able to tell it's going to reflect in your business yeah. Those are pretty much my five important tips to start out with it helps of growing an authentic, credible and reliable clientele base, whether you're, a stylist you're, a product creator, you're a content creator, whether you sell clothes, you have a boutique, whatever the case may be. If you are a small business owner, these tips will help you, i guarantee, i have seen results in this. I have been from. I have been at the bottom. I'Ve started at the bottom and i have buildings that is it for this video. I hope you all enjoyed this video. I hope it was helpful. I hope it is what you were looking for.
