You can't just ( screaming ). Where am I supposed to put it all? ( upbeat music ), I have gone to a salon. Had my hair pressed walked out, got to the car and it was ( swoosh ). I straighten my hair about twice a week and then I'll do like mini touch up straightens, and I know that that much heat damage every week is probably really really bad for my hair., But I haven't really fallen in love with, like my hair in it's natural Sate., If the intention is for me to be able to wake up tomorrow and have my hair, be so straight that it's like believably, naturally straight there's, no freaking way. Alrighty. African threading., You do it by parting, your hair into manageable sections and wrapping each one in Thread., Oh cool blow dry.. I would not have guessed that this is what it was gon na. Be. Simply add your preferred styling product and then brush your hair straight with a vented hair brush and the blow dryer. Hair wrap. After showering and combing your hair divide. It into sections, while still wet., These sections should be pinned flat against your head., Afterwards wrap the scarf around your head and allow at least six hours for the hair to dry.. Oh, you confident, paper., You're gon na be embarrassed.. Let'S go whoa. After a couple of hundred YouTube videos. I think I figured out how to do this African threading method, so I'm going to take four sections because I just don't have the patience to do more than that. ( upbeat, music, ), Okay, maybe this'll work.! Nothing about this look is cute, but I'm threaded and we'll see how it turns out in the morning.. I didn't really wash it., I just kind of wet it to get it in a state to be able to be dried.. I'M also gon na section out my hair just to give it a better chance to be like fully straightened and like really give it a chance to work. ( upbeat music ). The reality is setting in of just how long it's gon na take.. I wonder if I even have to use smaller sections. ( upbeat music ), I'm gon na smooth out as much as you can smooth my hair on this side. ( upbeat music ). I don't know how. Well I actually wrapped my hair around my head.. So I guess we'll find out in the morning. ( slow upbeat, music ). So last night I cool blow dried my hair and I think it went like okay. Okay, so I had to use the African threading method to straighten my hair.. As you can tell it did not do that. It didn't work like I thought it would.. Well, it worked exactly like how I thought it would.. It didn't straighten it., It elongated my curls, but I also feel like I might have done a lot of things. Wrong. I didn't brush my hair.. I didn't have it soaked.. I feel like, if I'd of put some kind of like moisture to it, maybe it would have came out better.. I think that if I were planning on straightening my hair, this would be a really good thing to do the night before so that maybe I didn't have to use quite as much heat in the morning to get it to this point. But I would never step out of the house like look at my naturally straight hair., Like this isn't convincing anyone.. I think mine had the best chance for success and it wasn't completely unsuccessful, but you know it worked.. You should go, try it at home and do better than me. (, slow, upbeat, music, )

Mawa B.: The girl with the kinky hair didn't even try... :') I use that method on my 4c hair, it doesn't get my hair straight but it definitely works as a heat-free blow out. :)

♡Coneja♡: The girl who did the hair wrap didn't do it right. My sister has hair with the same texture and it worked out great for her.

Ishan Ali: curly hair or straight hair...its beautiful

Fallon Fontaine: The hair wrap is to MAINTAIN straightened hair. The African threading is for STRETCHING curls either for straightening or elongation. All of these black women at Buzzfeed & they’re still misinformed.

Catty Ghostly: Wait...Nina doesnt have curly hair at all? She has wavy hair. Edit: It's barely even wavy. Why is she in this video?

LaTonya: They should have did multiple trials. Didn't realize the video was short. The girls who felt like they were doing it wrong made me think there was going to be a day 2.

EvE(itsnotthatserious): The wrap does work. I've done it for years. I'm surprised ,she didn't seem too commited to the idea. I mean I've seen other videos where Megan goes on and on about her very specific hair routine. With her I feel she tends to reject or doubt any other method of hair care aside from her own.

Alessia S.: I've straightened my curls for so long it has caused severe damage to my natural hair structure. I've finally come to accept, embrace and love my curls and my hair looks so much better, but still a little damaged. Curls are beautiful, straight hair is beautiful, why should we not embrace ourselves and accept us the way we are? We're all beautiful and besides that, inner beauty shines brighter than anything else.

JayBeh Kay: I've used that blow dry method a bunch on my like boob length curl-ish wave-ish hair and it works hella well. I usually just do it on like a lower heat not full cool just so it takes less time but it really works pretty well

Raquel Solorio: My hair is naturally straight and always wanted curly hair. Over the years I’ve grown to love my hair and learn how to curl it in a way that keeps the curls because my hair really hold no type of curl

Janhavi Baviskar: The African threading method worked on me I have semi curly to wavy hair and used it so much that my hair started to become straight on it's own. Tip : Try it with wet hair.

Inami B.: The African threading one wasn't done right. You need very small sections to get similar results to a blowout so she couldn't expect anything close to straight with these huge chunks of hair

Maya 07: I'd love to see the same video for girls with straight hair that want it curly! I'm Eurasian and my hair is mostly straight but has a tiny bit of waves sometimes.. but if I brush it it goes stick straight.. I've tried everything to get it curly and most don't work and if it does it doesn't last for more than an hour and a half

Candy Cane: I'M GONNA BE COMPLETELY HONEST. YOU GUYS DIDN'T PUT IN A FULL EFFORT TO DO THIS, I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED :(

Miss Rafeeda: Honestly, I'm at a point where accepting my hair the way it is, works for me (and satisfies my laziness). My hair is thick, course and low porosity so it's almost always dry, I can do a bunch of stuff to infuse moisture in it and detangle it fully, but I really value those 6 hours it would take me to do it.

kasya serob: I've always hated my straight hair, but after watching some people on YouTube trying to straighten their gorgeous curly hair, I absolutely love my hair now.

Mashu: Whats the point of the video if they dont follow the method correctly. Of course it wont work

Ilina G: im so glad they included nina. her hair is exactly like mine and i feel like people often forget that our hairtype (poofy, thick, wild, horrible to manage) exists

Natural Witchcraft: The hair wrap thing works really well if you do it correctly. You have to use some product and brush it out straight and make sure its tightly wrapped around your head so it dries straight. I'm guessing the threading one needs damp hair as well. It's all about how wetness makes the hydrogen bonds in hair easier to manipulate.

Rachel Walker: After a couple 100 YouTube videos I think I understand it? Honestly me trying to make my curls do the thing I want them too

Stillingwa: I tried Megans method and it worked perfectly minus a few indents from the bobby pins but I think the bobby pins weren't wide enough for my hair thickness. Hope this helps someone! Oh and add shine serum or some kind of product to help with frizz before wrapping it... at least that was what I did

nufoxiemommy: I learned from a stylist when I first cut my hair short how to wrap it. When I would blow dry it I would wrap it to keep it smooth. Now that I’m trying the curly girl Method I don’t want to apply heat to straightening it I may need to go back to this but with the combo of cool air and wrap. My hair would never dry if it was left soaking wet and wrapped.

jawjarrose cosplay: I’ve tried the hair wrapped around the head and it worked pretty well, I used a lot more Bobbie pins and pinned it in sections around my head so it was all smooth

S. Ai: "I haven't fallen in love with my hair in its natural state." Nina needs a video wearing her hair curly for a week

Lo Alexandria: Threading isn’t meant to straighten your hair it’s just another way to stretch it out lol

vivi is a pony: I did the hair scarf wrap method once perfectly and my hair was actually straightened. It took so much effort, though :(

Madison: Curly hair for life. The last time I straightened my hair was October. I love my curly hair even though I can't brush it once it's dry. I only wash my hair 1-2 times a week. It just isn't worth it for me. I also have learned how to keep my curls intact for multiple days though

Koi: *didnt put any effort on actually doing it right OmG It DidNt WoRk!

Sea Storm: I've always had curls but i made the mistake of brushing them all the time and it always resulted in looking like the red haired girl's "straight hair". Luckily i found the right products to define those curls and reduce frizz.

Megha Sharma: I use the hair wrap method on my curly hair and it perfectly straightens my hair. Although it has taken a lot of practice to get it correct. So disappointed they didn't try it properly.

Kanya Pinandita: Let's just appreciate Nina's amazing cut crease! Blessed!

Jazmine Elliott: Nina doesn’t have curly hair she seems like that friend you have that’s always like “ugh my curly hair :(“ even tho her hair is barley wavy

sofia v: if youre going to do a trying out video at least do it right, put some effort in it and follow the steps correctly otherwise whats the point

Firdaus xoxo: I actually tried this 2:18 and it worked I'm a 2C/3A low density hair type

Bec B: Ohmygosh I did the same hair wrap “trick” when I was younger. It did not work! Now I’ve learned to love my hair

G: I tried all of these before, and the only one that gave me straight-ish hair was the threading (aka banding). It takes a long time and it's very uncomfortable to sleep in, though. I rather just leave it curly ‍♀️

Vaness H: I use a combination of 2 of these methods. The hair wrap and cool blow drying, unfortunately my curly hair looks like a poodle when completely dried and it breaks like crazy once I try to detangle it in that state. The hair wrap takes time to master so I don't blame her, practice practice and patience

Kanitae: Megan's hair is so pretty~ if my hair curled like that instead of the way it does now I would probably live my hair

Bryan: I've always preferred the blowout look compared to the flat ironed look. It has more body and bounce to it!

Sabrina Ouenzar: I have curly hair and I sometimes do the Hair Wrap method, it makes my hair straight as if I had blow dried it but the ends of my hair stay wavy, which give it a kinda cute look and I can brush it and the waves stay ! (Sorry for my bad english :'( )

c:: i have just started to wear my natural hair down and stopped straightening. curly hair is a gift. believe me.

Jamie D: Megan’s hair is soooo defined and there’s NO FRIZZ!!! I wish my natural hair was like that, we have the same curl pattern

Pasta Ravioli: They all have such pretty hair! I have straight hair and all I’ve ever wanted was Curly hair! I guess what we don’t have is always what we will want in some cases.

Pearl Shifer: I use great big rollers after washing my hair, I use mousse also before rolling it up, and I actually leave the rollers in all night. works pretty good.

Rian Dixon: My hair is curly, wavy and straight all at the same time. It depends on how my hair wants to look. It’s usually between curly and wavy.

r1taaj: WHAT!!! You guys tried straightening your beautiful curls. I have naturally straight hair and I've always wanted luxurious curls like yours love how you guys are♥♥

Elizabeth Prosper: African threading is just to stretch, is also called the banding method

Erika Karisawa: Seeing them fail this badly is my motivation to get permanent hair straightening.

mkayitsash: last year, during the summer, I would watch other vids on how to do this because I didn't want heat damage and I always wondered if this would would on my curly 3 type hair because it was wavy hair people doing it

Amber Jiang: And here I am, frequently doing my hair with no-heat CURL methods.

Byazzii: As someone with curly hair, I know this video is gonna be real interesting

Jill: Nina looks beautiful with straight hair but I LOVE her wavy hair

Geraldine Butterfly: I used to hate my wavy hair, but now that it is longer it is showing its natural beauty, now I cannot imagine being straight I love my wavy hair

Chazz Williams: I loved the turnout of Megan's hair it was funky and cute! Obviously, Nina's worked out the best as she said.

Christine The Phantom Queen: Does anyone else have weird hair that sometimes it drys straight and sometimes it drys curly/wavy?

Lyna: My sister tried the wrap methode on my hair in a proper way and it worked really nicely

JustAddictedToMovies: Megan's hair is so beautiful in it's natural curly state!

BaDdeST: Do part 2 because this is intestine I like to see if it will really work!!

Gyda Mosbakk: I have allways had blond and straight hair, but ever since I was a little girl, I've wanted dark and curly hair. When I told my greek friend, she just said "You don't want curly hair" Clearly speaking about the care.

Byazzii: As someone with curly hair, I know this video is gonna be real interesting

Claudia Potosme: Would have liked to seen more tries on it. They mention what they did wrong, so I would have liked them to do a second or third time make this an informative video.

LadyKay9190: The first 5 seconds is how I look trying to keep my naturally curly hair straightened after a press.

Salma Eliela: African threads are a typical hairstyle of the North of my country (Angola) so I actually do them all the time. In fact I'm wearing them right now. They're not meant to make your hair straight, they're meant to make your curls longer. So for example with me instead of my hair coming out on a curly afro, it comes out looking kind of like a blow dried afro

Mimi🤭: Im African, and the thread thing she did is something I do on a regular ,and omg that was horrible, she was supposed to start at the beginning of the section and not necessarily wet it (cause i dont and I have 4b/c hair)... ik i sound harsh but meh‍♀️ Edit: it's a straightening method it just grows your hair

Cali Mac: To Nina, you haven't fallen in love with your natural state?! Your hair is BEAUTIFUL. I'm African American & Indian. My hair is curly but my curls are tighter than yours. I'd kill for your hair lol

C00kii0: Threading :Smaller sections, tighter more even wraping. Wet ,wrapping: Brush all the hair down ,start from the center of your face and brush diagonally down and around your head placing bobby pins where needed. Sprits with ...spritz. Wrap head starting from the back and bring scarf ends to the front. Cross over and tie in the back.

00 00: My hair is wavy. Not nice waves, but scruffy, frizzy waves. It's also bleached light blonde from a level 3 dark brown. When it was shorter I had some curls, but now it's very long which makes the texture much more manageable. If I were to flat iron it I don't think I would have hair left as I have a lot of splits. I blow dry my hair straight, after only washing it once a week. I start from underneath my hair and work my way gradually towards the front. This always works very well for me and lasts the whole week. Flat ironing makes my hair feel like wire and it makes it smell of burning.

JayPatrice: Curly hair is everything hunnie ‍♀️

Stace D: Destinee... sis... what were you expecting? You can't do anything with curly hair when it's dry. I've tried threading on wet curls, and it took a whole day to dry. Wasn't "straight", but it was really stretched once dried.

mrowka: CAN YOU PLS DO THIS SO THAT WOMEN WITH STRAIGHT HAIR TRY NO HEAT CURLING METHODS❤️❤️

Shantall Hernandez: You should do a video on the exact opposite now. Straight-haired girls try heatless curls.

breakurbonez420: Cool blow dry is better for your hair either way. It helps reduce frizz and is healthier for your hair, although I feel it takes longer to dry.

ahlam 551: I ve been using the wrapping method for over thn 15yrs its so famous in Morocco my hair healthy n smooth it saved me from using the heat on my hair . n seeing her doing it wrong made me cringe so hard ,like guuuuurl come here lemme do it for u plz

kenza h: I have wavy hair and I always cool blow dry it. It works perfectly

WaterfallWaltz: I have afro-textured hair I've had pretty good success with the hair wrapping. It can be done.

madyson oster: I tried to do the pin thing and the thread thing and both times my hair was still wet and smelled AWFUL three days later !

Stacie Streck: The girl with the red hair (I can't remember her name >.<) has super pretty curls, and even when her hair was all afloof, it looked great. Also, Nina's hair is pretty straight as it is? I would call it more wavy than curly.

The real princess jasmine: Nina's hair is more wavy than it is curly, just throwing that out there

0saration0: I honestly just want to know how Megan usually does her hair bc her curls were on point before messing with them

Vevo Lyrics: your hair is nice whatever styles you put! straigh, curly, wavey etc' all of them are beautiful! even your natural hair!

MaryAnne Achieng: with the African threading, it makes a world of difference how close together the coils are. If there are parts of your hair bulging between the coils, you'll have indentations in the morning. It'll also be better if you start at the base of your hair (and more hair parts do give a better result); I normally tie those small 'ouchless' rubber bands around my parts then start threading from there. I also don't do it on wet hair, that gives me terrible results (I have 4c hair). I make sure it's completely detangled though

N Aryee: I do the African method all the time! All she needed to do was to part her hair into smaller parts, wash her hair, moisturise and start the threading from the roots

MEOW: sis did the threading method ALL WRONG. Oh no sweetie what are you doing.

Rewan Khaled: We do the hair wrap method here in egypt alot and it works perfectly but she did it absolutely wrong she is beautiful anyway

Ri: I'm glad people are trying to embrace their curls as well as straightening it sometimes cause for a while only straight hair was considered beautiful

jackie ASMR: You need a round brush fir the cool dry :) I learned the hard way lol I also used a regular brush but my hair stylist recommended a boar bristle round brush. #LifeChanging it only took 15-20 mins and I have medium length hair

inomu: OMG morgans hair after she tried to make it straight looks HILARIOUS

Odelia larbi: I thought African threading was for stretching hair

Casaundra Keller: Vent brushes have minimal tension! To straighten curls you need tension. A paddle brush may have worked better.

Mckenzie Wright: The hairdryer method is more effective when you have a specific tool on the end to direct the air.

xoAuora: When I lay my edges I use a silk head scarf and they work like the dream

Alexis: I definitely think Nina should learn to love her natural hair. :) It makes life so much better. But I mean, obviously, that's just my opinion

Rene Potato: I swear some people cannot tell the difference between curly hair and wavy hair. Also, most of these hair-stretching methods are for black/afro textured hair that is kinky and shrinks up alot when dry. Of course these methods didnt work on the girls with loose textured waves and curls, it works best on black hair.

TianaOfficial: Straightening already straight hair that was once curly and is no longer curly due to heat damage does not mean you are still straightening curly hair. You could only experiment this on grown out, untouched roots.

Alinaa: I used to hate my curly hair until I saw a picture of me and my dad we both had an afro going On. and I actually love my curly hair now as it reminds me of my dad.

Panda Coolcute: The blow dry, she could have used a round brush. It's more ventilated and has more pullage. The more you pull the hair the straighter it will be

andy kurland: i love how the only one that kinda worked was on the girl whos hair wasnt even curly lol

L.R. Red: Threading is for stretching hair not completely straightening. Megan needs a tutorial on hair wrapping techniques.

Jenayia Lashae: The African threading I’m not to familiar with, but as for the other methods they do work when done the right way. The wrap is best when you use a mouse or wrap foam to help get it as flat and slick as possible. She just needed to brush it around her head more than once and used a bristled brush.

mom, com pick me up, i'm scared: I tried the hair wrap method and it worked because i actually put efort in it
