Yeah, I'm trying to find a good angle in which I can record for y'all. Look at the twist out, though, is it twist outing period hold on 360.? What'S up you guys, my name is Lex Ole Lex and today, I'm back with another video period. I'M trying to get my hair to do something cute here, so I don't feel I know it's not volumed and big, like I normally like it, but I'm trying something new. I tried to go for the definition. Look instead of the volume look this time but y'all. Let me know how y'all like it in the comments. So what's up, my name is Lex Ole Lex and I'm back with another video period. I'M here to give you guys at least 10. I might go over 10. I might start rambling, but I'm here to give you guys 10 reasons as to why your hair is not growing or 10 reasons as to retain length Okay. So these are just 10 tips to retain the length and, if you're doing some of these on the list, then maybe this is why you're not retaining your length. You know what I'm saying, so I got a few two things that I'm gon na go over with you guys and the number one on my list is a heat protectant. This is super important. You guys um. I know not a lot of girls use heat on their hair um, but if you are using heat - and I mean blow drying me, this is a stretched twist out so meaning I did stretch my hair before I you know did the twist out on it. If you like things like that, you need a heat, protectant, babe um me that was one of my biggest downfalls. I took advantage and I knew I liked the blowout style I did and I took advantage of it and I was blowing out my hair and babe guess what breakage it happens. You need that heat protectant. You literally need that Heat Protector like. I cannot stress that enough. You need the heat protected. It literally imagine if you're just putting so much heat on something constantly with no type of protection, no type of extra coverage, nothing girl, you're, asking for that. Breakage babe, I'm telling you you may not see it once, but all of that shedded hair over time it it adds up. It adds up. Okay, my tip to you number two is going to be: don't keep tugging through your hair. This isn't even on my list, but it's like an add-on thing. All of that shedded hair. When you wear your hair out, you get what's called single strand knots. Okay, don't pull through those knots! I have a video in my wash day routine, my last Washi routine. My updated one, I think the card will be right here or something like that. I showed you guys how I thoroughly like detangle without pulling through my hair. You don't want to rip through those single strand, knots, either cut them or just just keep pulling like. I don't want to mess up my hair y'all, so I'm not going to demonstrate right now, but go check out that video. If you want a really good thorough demonstration - and you just keep like softly with the balls of your fingers - just keep kind of pulling until the hair releases, because it will don't don't snag through it, don't break your hair off. Okay, be super gentle with your hair like if that would be the name of this tip. That'Ll be the name of this tip, but you want to be super gentle with your hair. Don'T snag through it! Okay, protective styles! That'S tip number, three protective style. This is a big part of my hair Journey on how it grew my hair out. My hair is pretty long. I mean look at this. It'S even going out of the frame and protective styles is the biggest like the biggest part of my hair hair growth Journey. Protective styles ranges between wigs braids, all types of protective styles. I just know the popular ones like wigs and braids, but me one of my favorite protective styles is wearing my hair in twists. You guys have seen in a few of my previous Vlogs I'll, just rock twist, like just two strand twists in my hair and I'll just keep them in for a few weeks. Honestly because me I work in a dental office, and I can't have my hair down like that any way. So so a lot of the times my hair is just in twist, and I just wear it like that, and so the two strand twist with it being like that and then I'll wash it into strand twists. If you've seen, I washed it and you already know, but I washed my hair in those two strand twists - I take it out and with no heat, no, nothing. I just twist it right back up, and it's like that for the next two weeks, two weeks to a month, not gon na lie that those are all protective styles, they're, all considered protective styles, just putting your hair away in low manipulation, anything that has low manipulation. It'S kind of a protective style that goes to say, tip number four low manipulation. Styles, like this right here technically, is not a low manipulate low manipulation, hairstyles technically, not whenever your hair is out and it's just exposed to the world even personally, when your hair is brushing up again. So you guys see this right here when it's brushing up against your clothes, like that, that's hindering your success. Babe, I'm not gon na lie the cotton from your clothes, cotton, snacks. It dries your hair out it it snags it. It breaks it off at the ends. All of that stuff playing in your hair - oh my hair is out and I keep messing hands in the hair. Everything like that, sorry to tell you babe, but it's risky. It is risky um, I'm wearing my hair out now, but, like I said, I mean this is a twist out and the twist was in my hair for probably a good two weeks before I twist it out, like not gon na lie. That'S just how I like to kind of do it. You get a few weeks of protection. You get a good week out kind of a balance. You want to kind of balance that out somehow some way, but definitely you want to make sure that you have some type of balance, because you don't want your hair out and it's just not protected all the time. It'S just always out always, and I know me I'm doing more definition right now, like I said not volume, but my hair is big and it gets caught on things it gets caught on the zippers of my jackets. Everything like that you want to be careful. Okay, those are things that they're just not going to tell you, but all of that stuff will snag your hair and it will over time I promise you you will see. I know some girls, they notice, like the shoulders, will be really long, but right in the middle of their hair in the back, it'll be broken off, and that comes from rubbing up against the shirt rubbing up against the back of, like you know, everything like that That stuff will break your hair off over time. So you want to be really careful about that. Number five will be clean, hair. Okay, so, like I said I do like protective styles. They'Re perfect dirty hair grows. I am a cab I do feel like dirty. Hair grows, you know what I'm saying. Yes, that's great, but clean hair flourishes. Okay, babe, do not just keep your hair dirty forever, your scalp think about it. If your scalp, it has all this build up, and all these old products conditioner everything like that's on it and then you go in there with your favorite Growth Oil. Your scalp is not absorbing everything that needs, because maybe your scalp's dirty. You want your scalp to be clean, like your skin, you want your scalp to be. You know what I'm saying nice so that it can actually absorb the products that it actually needs to have as long with your hair as well. If your hair is covered in all of the old product residue - and you got all these like gel and stuff around your edges, if you're putting a new product and you're not getting a good clean, that product is not going to absorb correctly into your hair, it's Just going to sit on it and get washed right off okay, so basically what I'm saying is make sure that before you do anything before you add new products before you just keep going in unless it's daily moisturizing before you keep going in with more products babe, You need to clean the hair. Okay thanks, that's going into tip number six, which is deep conditioning. Okay, deep conditioning is so important. Now me, like, I just said my, I had my hair in my twist for about two weeks and then I took my twists out and now my hair is out by the time I wash my hair again babe my hair is going to be dry as dry. Is dry as all the girls in the back, you know exactly what I'm talking about. My hair will be dry. If I do not, if my I don't care, if I do daily moisturize, it's dry, okay, babe, it's gon na be dry by that next wash day, and so what we need to be doing is making sure we're deep conditioning do not skip the step. Do not skip the step, do not skip the step. I made that error a few times. I'M not gon na lie. I would just be washing my hair. I got all my hair is so thick by the time I detangle, I'm feeling lazy and I just want to be done with I'm not going to do. Conditioning no babe, no babe you're, hindering yourself deep conditioning is putting all of the the protein the moisture. All of that that I just lost throughout the throughout the week throughout the month, because I know, let's be 100 - honest, y'all, not washing your hair every week, y'all, not washing your hair, every single two weeks - don't lie. Okay, we're on this channel over here me babe. I don't wash my hair every single two weeks: I'm a DOT, I'm not gon na lie. I'M a lazy natural over here. This channel is for lazy natural, so I'm giving all the lazy natural tips. Yes, it's good keep that hair in a protective style, but wash that hair in a protective style. Keep it clean, deep condition that hair and protective style keep it clean. I have a video on that as well I'll link that down there as well how to keep your hair healthy in a protective style. You got to keep it clean. You got ta deep condition. It you got ta. Add that moisture back into your hair, you have to put it back into your hair, because, if you don't put it back in there, how it's gon na get it? How it's gon na get me who gon na feed it? Okay, who gon na feed your hair when your hair needed? Okay, let's get back on topic, let's get back on topic. Okay, now we're on number seven: oiling your scalp okay! This is so important matter of fact. Matter of fact, I got some. I got a secret for y'all. I got a secret hold on y'all, like my jumpsuit, this oil right here. If you're not put one by this oil right here, go, get it babe Go Get It Babe go get it. I'M gon na oil, my hair right now. So y'all can see the dispatch. I am not kidding this oil is the truth. Okay, do you hear me? I oil this on my scalp every other day. Every other day, you will see the difference. Okay, just oil, your scalp with your favorite oil, whatever some people make their oils, they make their own mixtures good for them do whatever. But if you don't know what you want to oil, your scalp with get you this and get you some Jamaican black, castor oil. The little bottle that looked like this and get that for the straps of your hair to put the mm-hmm so scalp and then use the make your black, castor oil to moisturize your hair yeah. But if you don't know what you need to do: oil that scalp babe, okay, oil, the scalp, your hair, grows from your scalp. Your scalp needs to be happy. Your scalp needs to be happy oil. Your scalp keep the scalp oiled and keep the scalp fresh and you're gon na get your you're gon na flourish. Babe you're gon na flourish Point Blank period like you're, going to you're going to. If you listen to what I say, look, look I ain't lying, I'm not lying, I'm not lying, I'm not lying, I'm not lying and I'm not trying I'm not trying to act. Funny, I'm just letting y'all. No, I'm not lying. I'M not lying go, get the oil go, get the oil now. Okay, now we're going into tip number eight. Oh, that's! Six! It'S tip! Number eight! Okay, tip number eight is going to be trim your hair, okay trim, your hair, don't be scared to lose. Don'T be scared to lose like dust the ends, you can't be scared to lose. The hair. Okay hair grows back. Okay, you cannot be afraid to trim those ends. It'S mandatory now for the girls in the back who, like oh yeah, I'm trimming the hair and we're gon na trim we're gon na trim every three months. Every three months I get a trim every six months. I get a trim, slow down, babe. Okay, we trim around here we keep the ends trim, but we're not gon na over trim. Okay and nobody talks about that. Nobody talks about over trimming. Now you go to The Stylist and it's not it's like yep. It'S been six months. We got ta, get trim but Dewey. Okay, now listen. Hear me out now hear me out: I'm gon na I'm I'm gon na Advocate. I I strongly believe in dusting the ends, keeping the ends nice and you know dust the ends, but babe. We don't need. No big girl trim no inch off every six months. Babe, we don't need. No, we don't need no, but your hair. Hopefully, if you're doing everything right and you not trying to say like you're, not doing something right, because sometimes it's like [ __ ], I'm doing everything. But what works for me making that work for you may not work for the next girl. But if you feel like babe, I feel like I'm getting my growth and then boom. It'S like oh six months. It'S time to trim now, take it easy! Okay, take it easy on the trims trim, your hair make sure. Okay, I'm feeling, like I'm twisting my hair. Now and my ends, look a little straddly or my ends is doing something funny: okay, let's, let's give it a trim, let's see what's going on, but if we don't need a trim, babe, don't trim your hair cut your hair like they're, they're, tricking, us, okay, they're Tricking us into thinking that every single there's a specific period on when we should be cutting our hair, no baby, okay - and I was like that - and I was damn near bald every like I'm telling you yes trim your hair, keep your hair healthy, but pay attention To your ends, pay attention to your ends. Okay, once the ends look straggly and the ends, look nasty that sense like okay, let's, let's check ourselves, let's give ourselves a trend, but don't over trim like that's something that don't be talking about on the back. Okay, don't over trim tip number nine? I am gon na go over ten. I got a few tip number nine tip number nine would be daily moisture. Okay, now people ask me all the time when they see me in person. They see me. They said: what do you do for like daily moisture? How do you keep your hair, like you know, I'm saying how you keep it like? What should we put in there like what should we put in there babe I'll, be putting shea butter shea butter? Don'T look at my lashes, don't look at my lashes. I got my appointment already set for the third and it's coming up. Don'T talk about my [ __ ] lashes, it's coming up next next week. Okay, that's what we was talking about shea butter. Shea butter is the goat. Shea butter is the is the throat goat made shea butter that shea butter? Okay, now hear me out, hear me out. Shea butter is my go-to daily moisture. I take a little bit of shea butter and I just massage it into my hair. I massage it into the stress. I take a little bit of drink, my glass to oil. I oil it on over top of my shea butter and I may have a little Misty spray bottles on there. So I'm talking about from Sally's Little Misty ones get one of those and go a little Mist up in the air and shake your hair up. Underneath it don't get your hair soaking wet because baby, that's that's the enemy! If you got 4C hair, getting your hair, silky wet shrinkage, that's the enemy! Okay, shrinkage is good. That'S how we know we got healthy hair, but it's the enemy, keep your hair stretched so that I'm skipping steps hold on I'm skipping stats anyway. Shea butter is really good moisturizer, whatever moisturizer you know you like, for instance, you have to know your hair, whatever moisturizer works for your hair, for me is shea butter. I like shea butter, my hair likes Butters, it likes it likes Butters, more than creams. Okay, that's that's for me, but for you I don't know what you like, but just know that you need some type of daily moisture. Okay, you need to get you one find you in that word and then stick to a babe, okay, daily moisture. Now I'm gon na work, the Band-Aid off for the girls in the back tip number ten okay. This was tip number 10 because babe she's Top Dog, okay, she's tip number 10, because she heard what she said, and this is what the girls in the back don't want to hear this. Okay, but all your slick back, ponytails all y'all a little straight to the backs or not Buns. On the top or anything like that, It's got ta go, it's Got ta, Go. It'S got ta, go anything putting too much tension on your hair. It'S got. Ta go babe. It'S got. Ta go babe, you're sitting there pulling your hair, forcing your hair, stretching your hair to the gods to get it in this ponytail. Your hair is not that long. Okay, sorry, okay! It'S not long enough! Okay! It'S not long enough for the ponytail, give it a rest. Okay, if you got ta stretch it look at this. I want to show you an example. I want to show y'all an example right here right now. It don't look perfect, it don't look perfect, but we got a lot of pony okay. It don't take much to pull your hair back in a ponytail. If you got a slick and grip and tug and hug okay cute, it could be good for one time, a cute little one-time thing but baby. If you're going to school every day, high school college classes, whatever, if you're going to school every day, work every day and you're slicking your hair back in the ponytail, quit the job and stop going to school. Okay, hurry! Okay! Because that ain't! The answer that ain't - the answer - if you have to do that, to go to school, stop going to school now, I'm just playing but still like. If you guys, if you got ta, do all that to get your hair from ponytail, it's not ready! Babe! It'S not ready, it's not ready. It'S not your time. It'S not your season! Okay and I'm not picking on nobody. It may sound like I'm really coming from I'm not picking on nobody, because I had to learn that it's not your season, learn your season. Stop sitting there trying to force your hair into the ponytail, and it's just it's just not your season babe. All of that is, is holding you back. Okay, rock your TWA, your teeny weeny, afro rock it. Okay, like ideas rock it like, I did and until it's your time to shine because your time is around the corner, stop stop forcing it. Okay, now tip number 11, no more jail. Okay, do you all see my edges? Do y'all see my edges they're a little crusty and busty right now they not late, they not laid or whatever, but that's, okay, I'm still bad right. I'M still pretty right! You watching the video you watching the video okay, not seeing it! I don't ever do my edges because I do do my edges sometimes, but listen, baby. Okay, get you a light, a light gel! Get you something! That'S very light very easy to, like you know what I'm saying all that heavy ass Gorilla Snot and got to be glue and all that heavy stuff. Let it go, let it go. Okay, let it go for the let it let it go. Okay, once in every blue, moon, okay, great but as Everyday Use, doing this on your edges, every single day go in your drawer. Go in your bathroom! Look at your edges, brush! Look at it and tell me: there's no hair in it! Tell me yes, the little one with the comb on one end and the brush on look at it and tell me that [ __ ] isn't hard as life glued together with a bunch of hair stuck in it. Tell me it's not exactly and all those little hairs, little short little hairs. That'S your edges! Baby! That'S your edges! Coming out in that brush because you are slicking your hair to the guards every day. Please give them a rest, give them a rest, give them rest! They'Re, tired, okay, stop doing that. Okay, it's just too much tension too much manipulation and yeah. It may seem like. Oh, I only lost three pieces of hair, but you lost three pieces of hair. Yesterday, you lost some the other day before that, and you look like you're losing too much hair you're you're give you're giving it all away. Okay, stop doing it! So here's one step that should be obvious. It should be be something that's embedded into your roots. Your mom should have taught you this and her mama should have taught her, but you should be going to sleep with something on your head. Babes. You should be going to sleep with something like Silk or satin pillowcases I got pillowcases. I got the bonnets. I got the scarves because they're not gon na catch me slipping. If one fall off, I got the next one and if both of them fall off guess what the pillow case and the sheets is satin period - we're not getting caught slipping. There is no breakage. There is no cotton, there is no rubbing and nasty tension. Okay, there is none of that. Okay got me a little bit hyper now. Y'All need that Josh knew that y'all shouldn't y'all should know. I shouldn't be reminding you that y'all should have known now. So what else did I have in mind all right y'all? That was all 10 that I wrote down, but keep in touch baby keep in touch, because I'm in here we're in here me and you we're locked in okay, subscribe to my channel like this video.
