Hey guys welcome back to my Channel or welcome if you're new here today we are going to be talking all about where to splurge and where to save in your hair care routine. This was actually requested from one of you and the second that I read the comment I was like. Oh my gosh, I love that idea. How has no one ever thought of this before? Well, it turns out people have thought of this and they thought of it. A long time ago, because this is a video Trend - that's been going around for a while - I just am living under a rock per usual and I had never watched a video like this. So I wish I knew the original Creator behind this trend, because it's such a great idea and I would love to give them credit - I'm not sure who started it, but whoever did genius great work, but before we dive into it, I do feel compelled to say That I know I could 100 put together an amazing, affordable, hair care routine from start to finish, like both wash day and post-wash day styling. I know that I could do that. That'S not a question and if you guys would like to see a separate video on that, I'm happy to do so, but that's not really going to be the purpose of today's video in instead, I am going to be taking a look at all of these Hair Care categories as a whole and really taking into consideration all the brands and products that exist at both low and high price points and sharing my thoughts on where it makes sense to spend more money in order to see better results and where it doesn't. Where. I think you can save all right, let's just jump right into it. There are so many different hair care product categories out there. So while we don't have time to talk through every single one in today's video, I am going to cover those that I think are most popular and most commonly used and those that I think you guys would be most interested in. So we will talk about these products in order of use starting off with wash day and then moving into post-wash day styling. So let's talk about some pre-wash categories, starting off with pre-shampoo oil treatments. Not many Brands actually carry this type of product that is marketed for use on your lengths and ends to protect your hair before you even wet it and wash it. But that's okay, because you can really use any oil for this purpose. So that's kind of how I'll be thinking about this category. So in saying that I do not think it's worth it to splurge here for three main reasons: number one. This is not even a product. That'S staying in your hair, it's going to be rinsed away with shampoo number two. You have to use quite a bit of product to fully coat your lengths and ends, especially if you have really thick hair. So if you're doing that, every single time you wash and you have a lot of hair like me - you go through pre-shampoo oils very, very quickly. So, just from like an economical standpoint, it does not make sense to me to spend a ton of money on a product like that that you're going to go through so quickly, especially when there are so many great, affordable options out there, which is my third reason. Why, I don't think you need to sporge here there are tons of affordable brands that have really really nice oils that you can use for this step, including Brands like OGX, which I've talked a lot about before and t-gen or is it tgin? I don't know next we have pre-shampoo scalp treatments, the type of product that you use for this step will vary depending on your scalp type and needs, but it could include things like an exfoliating rinse, an exfoliating scrub or an oil, and this is definitely a product Category that is still relatively new and growing, so we didn't really used to have many affordable options for this step. But now we have enough for me to say save on this one too, as long as the product that you're using is effective for your scalp concerns and doesn't cause irritation, I just don't think you need to spend a lot of money on a product. That again, is just designed to be rinsed away. If you have a dry scalp and you like putting oil on your scalp before washing to help to like nourish and maybe Slough off flakes, then I think that you can just use the same exact oil that you're using on your lengths and ends and just work. It on up to your scalp, but if your scalp is oily or itchy and you're looking to exfoliate, then I think the inky list has some awesome options for this step that don't break the bank, so they have a salicylic acid, exfoliating treatment and a glycolic acid Treatment as well - and I don't typically use physical exfoliants or exfoliating scrubs in my routine, but if you enjoy them again, I I think that there are plenty of affordable brands that have really nice options, including Brands like Kristen us and Heritage by Mindy. All right. Let'S move on to shampoo this one is kind of a tie because I think it really does depend on the current state of your hair. If you have pretty healthy hair - and you don't really have a lot of color or heat damage, then I think you can definitely save on shampoo spurge in other areas. That'Ll maybe make a bigger difference and there are a lot of affordable shampoos that I really love, including things like the L'Oreal Bond, strengthening shampoo and the Kristen s clarifying shampoo. I love both of those and I obviously have color and heat damaged hair. You don't have bleach like this in your hair without a lot of damage. However, I do definitely think that the shampoo that you use has a really big impact on how both your scalp and hair feel after washing. So if you're, somebody that has let's say a really Sensitive Scalp or you have super super fragile, damaged hair - that I do think it can be worth it to spend a little bit more on this category in order to get better results like for me. If I use a shampoo that doesn't really work with me, then I can end up with a scalp that feels really itchy or greasy, and I can end up with hair that looks and feels really really dry and tangly and Frizzy, and obviously I don't want any Of those things I would say that you're the most likely to end up with issues while shampooing, if you have severely bleached, damaged hair aside from scalp issues, because I feel, like that's a separate concern. But if you do have severe bleach damage, you know that you can really easily end up with intense Tangles. That'S when your hair can get really frizzy after washing and look and feel super dry. So in that case, I do think that it can be worth it to spend more to make sure that you're not experiencing those things not to say that drugstore shampoos will always do that to your hair, because there are some awesome awesome options at the drugstore like I already said, but if there's something that you're splurging on that makes your hair feel like Silk and it doesn't feel like that and using other shampoos. I think it's worth it to splurge. Let'S move on to damage repair treatments that are designed to be applied after shampoo, because I feel like most of the reputable ones are. If I could only pick one category to splurge on, it would 100 be this, even though there are a lot of affordable Brands. Jumping on the bond repair bandwagon, I have yet to see an affordable brand, create something like olaplex or K18. The closest thing is probably the inky list: PCA Bond repair treatment. That is actually a leave-in treatment, but I still don't think it's to the same caliber as olaplex number three or the k-18 treatment, and that's not to say that there aren't tons of affordable products out there that can condition or protect damaged hair. Because there absolutely are and there's a lot of great ones at that - it's just to say that when it comes to actually repairing damage in order to prevent your hair from breaking off, I think it's worth it to invest in something that will actually give you results. Conditioner Splurge, I mean similar to shampoo. I do actually think that there are a lot of nice conditioners at the drugstore, so I'm definitely not saying you can't find a conditioner that's great at an affordable price because because you definitely can so if you have a conditioner that doesn't break the bank, that you, Like just as much as a more expensive conditioner, then by all means save on this category, I have looked at so many ingredients lists in my time here on YouTube and I have definitely noticed a trend with drugstore conditioners and that they tend to be pretty basic. In terms of ingredients and quite a bit more stripped back than conditioners that you will find at a higher price point and when I think about my favorite conditioners, I know for a fact: I've never found anything just like them at the drugstore. So it's not one of those categories where I would say: you're gon na get the same exact thing at the drugstore that you would from a brand like aurabe or Amica, because I don't think that you can right now and I would argue that conditioner plays just As big a role as shampoo in the state of your hair after washing, because even if you do use a shampoo that doesn't work well with your hair, you can kind of counteract that with a really nice conditioner. But regardless of the shampoo that you use. Even if you use a really good one, conditioner is still all always going to be something that is really important because it coats and protects your hair, which, in turn, is going to help to detangle your hair and prevent it from breaking. So until I find a drugstore conditioner that beats some of my favorites, like Amica The Cure or a big gold lust pureology Strength Cure Amica bonding concentrate Splurge. It is, I feel, like there are so many Brands out there that have the potential to formulate incredible hair masks and then, for whatever reason they just don't really carry them. They don't have hair masks available at all with their brand, and that confuses me because I feel like it. I don't know I'm not a cosmetic chemist, but I feel like it's got to be a very comparable process to formulating conditioner, which all these Brands seem to have. A million of there are just not that many hair mask options at the drugstore I mean there are some. I do have a video where I talk about my top five favorite hair masks from the drugstore, so I will list that below. I still think that all of those are good options, but still when I look at this category as a whole at the drugstore compared to what we can get at a higher price, we definitely don't have nearly as many good options. I just don't think that they're comparable. Yet I am starting to see this change a little bit, though, because I did notice a couple more hair mask launches from Brands like function of beauty recently, so I'm excited to see where affordable Brands take the hair mask category. In the future, because again, I feel like there's no reason why we shouldn't have more, but we just don't right now. So as the hair mask category stands right now today in this moment I would say the two biggest differences. I noticed between drugstore and higher end hair masks, are ingredients and feel same situation with hair mask ingredients as with conditioner ingredients, where I noticed that they definitely seem to be much more basic at the drugstore and then when it comes to product texture and feel. I just feel like drugstore hair masks are not nearly as cosmetically elegant like they just don't seem to have that same really. Nice soft silky feel that a lot of more expensive options have which in turn, has a big impact on how my hair feels, after washing the exception that I would make just splurging on a hair mask and a conditioner is, if you like, to use both in The same routine because they're ultimately serving very similar purposes, so I just don't think that you need to splurge on both. So, instead you could splurge on a hair, mask and save on a conditioner or just use your hair mask in place of conditioner and save your money there and just splurge on the mask. Let'S move on to leave-in conditioners and heat protectants. If we are talking about sprays 100 Splurge, but if we're talking about lotions and creams, save when I think about my favorite leave-in conditioning sprays, that also are heat protectants like the pureology color fanatic spray and the Bumble and Bumble hairdressers invisible oil primer. Why is that such a mouthful when I think about both of those products? I feel confident in my recommendation to splurge on this category, because I have never ever found an affordable spray like either of those that is comparable in terms of ingredients and performance, and this is arguably one of the most important steps in my hair care routine because Cause, if I'm using the right product, then I'm using something that helps to prevent breakage while brushing helps to detangle my hair coats, my hair with conditioning and protective ingredients, add softness and shine. Tames frizz protects from heat, Etc, and, on top of that, the options that we have for leave-in conditioning sprays at the drugstore are incredibly limited, like even more so than hair masks. However, when it comes to lotions and creams, we have far more options available, including Brands like naturelab Tokyo, Eva NYC, Revolution, Kristen s, Heritage by Mindy, function of beauty. All of those brands have multiple options and they're all great. So, even though I feel like it's still worth it for me to splurge on lotions and creams because of how those products feel, I don't think it's as necessary to splurge on this category, as it is some of the others. Okay, now for leave in hair oil, um save yeah, save, don't get me wrong. I still love all of my more expensive hair oils, but when I think about the way that most people use leave-in oils for styling purposes like to tame flyaways and frizz, it just doesn't feel critical to splurge here, while heels are usually the last step in a Styling routine and used kind of like a finishing product, and you can't use a lot of them. You have to use them sparingly, otherwise they can really make your hair look greasy, which is the last thing you want to do after washing your hair. So I know for me: I never apply more than like four pumps of oil on my lengths and ends. If I am trying to add shine and kind of tame flyaways, I usually do like three to four pumps. That'S it so, while I do still love oils like Ora Bay, gold, lust and Bumble and Bumble hairdressers, I also know that you can achieve very similar results and just using an oil that doesn't break the bank. So my current favorites are probably the Heritage by Mindy, argan oil and the nature lab Tokyo. Oil mist both are great all right. We are nearing the end here. Only a few categories left. So, let's move on to hair growth, serums. This is a very strange product. Category to evaluate - because there are so many serums out there, that claim to promote hair growth, but are not actually regulated by the FDA. To do so and while I think a lot of the products out there that claim to promote hair growth are honestly BS, I'm going to say, save on this category because of one product and one product only, and that is the ordinary's multi-peptide serum for hair density. I'Ve tested this product out myself and I have also seen so many other people's results in using this. So I know that this product works and it's 17.90. So when I compare that to hair growth, serums out there that are significantly more expensive, like 60 to 80 to 100 plus dollars for the same amount of product, it kind of feels like a no-brainer. So I say: save here: try out the ordinary before anything else. If hair loss is a concern, for you, second to last is dry shampoo, and hopefully you guys know what I'm going to say here. Save save, save, save, there's just really no need to spurge on a category like this when the drugstore does it so well. I do have two dry shampoo Showdown videos that I am going to list in the description box below in both of those videos. I compare 11 different dry shampoos. I show you before and afters I talk about, feel and smell and texture and how they look, and I include dry shampoos at all different price points. So you'll see for yourself a higher price tag on a dry shampoo does not always correlate with better performance, it does not. And finally, we have hair styling products like hairsprays, mousses, pomades, texturizing, sprays, wave sprays. The list goes on Save here, affordable Brands pop off in all of these categories. Kristen s has so many great styling products, so does Eva NYC, not your mother's OGX, Tresemme and a lot more, especially when you you think about the fact that products like this are always applied as like the last layer on your hair. On top of all of these other conditioning products, and that they're not really ever usually doing anything to condition or protect or repair damage, it just feels like splurging is definitely not a must here in the way that it maybe is for an actual damage, repair product. All right, we are going to wrap up this video here. Those are all of my thoughts on splurging versus saving in your hair care routine. I really hope that you guys found this video helpful I'd love to hear your thoughts, as always in the comments below again any products that I referenced will be listed and Linked In My description box. Lisa Camara: An affordable hair care routine would be amazing. I love that you always recommend a wide price range of products! Keep them coming.

Elizabeth Myers: Yes, I would love to see an affordable hair care routine using only affordable hair care. Thanks!

D: It would be really great if you could compare the ingredients lists of drugstore and high end products such as conditioners and masks, and explain what makes a product cosmetically elegant vs basic ingredient wise, it would really help us to understand why exactly drugstore products are just not comparable to high end ones

C G: Yes please an affordable hair care routine, and products. Drugstore options would be amazing ❤

Jessa Kent: I have to tell you, this past wash day was the first time I tried a me version of your wash day routine (thick, frizz-prone, wavy/curly hair). Overnight oil, micellar shampoo, a low pH moisturizing shampoo, hair mask , conditioner, and a leave-in. I cannot stop running my fingers through my hair! It's never felt so great. It even *sounds* better. The pre-wash oil definitely showed me how damaged my ends were, since even with oil in it, the ends still looked dry and separated where the rest of my hair curled a little. Can't wait to continue this routine and see how my hair does. Thanks!

Cassandra Garcia: Love this video concept!! And SO true about spray leave-in’s being splurge worthy vs. creams!! Every single drugstore spray leave in I’ve tried made my hair horrible, I thought they were all like that. B&B’s Invisible Oil Leave In completely changed the game. My hair feels like silk and smells INCREDIBLE with that product. I have manyyy creams that I love that are high end and worth it to me, but it’s so much easier to find amazing drugstore ones. Odele’s cream leave-in for example— mind blowing. Everyone needs to try it. As for the oils, I agree it’s not necessary to splurge on them but I’m sorry, I cannot live without my OUAI hair oil and with what little I use each time, I don’t feel as guilty lol

jadedhuneyy: are you able to do a part 2 including heat styling tools? ive read that people should invest in a salon quality blow dryer, high quality brushes, dyson airwrap, etc but some of it don't seem worth and im wondering if im ruining my hair in the long run. loved the video

Rachel B: Yes another separate video for routines would be so great!

Sara Gomez: I was just thinking about this specific subject today while washing my hair! Thank you Abbey! Also, I would really appreciate the affordable hair care routine

Rachel Ford: Hey Abbey! I would love to know how you refresh your hair through the week after exercise/ daily living. I love a good dry shampoo but sometimes I feel like I’m not making the most of it and my hair doesn’t look as fresh between washing due to sweat and oil. Any tips on how your hair looks so great through the week would be appreciated! Love your videos and I truly appreciate all the hard work/ research you put into them. You are my go-to!

Eden Krammes: Yes me too! I would also be so excited to see an affordable hair car routine! Thank you so much for making this video <3 I am really taking to heart this advice!!!

Annemarie Cronen: Having naturally wavy, fairly easy to straighten hair, I can get away with less splurges than my daughter with very thick, more coarse, naturally curly hair. She definitely spends more than I do and we did try drugstore brands through the years. Very few work well with her hair type

Jess Arc: Def need the dry conditioner category and more products! Dry conditioner on lengths and ends for dry hair is a game changer. Routine please!

Tessa M.: I would love to see this same type of video for makeup & skincare as well!

Derrick Jennifer Watkins: Ok, first of all I LOVED the video! Great work Abbey! Video ideas: I'd like to see your full drugstore routine you mentioned AND a full high end routine. Also I'd love to see a video where you discussed products that didn't work for your hair type BUT you still felt like they were great products. I have a thicker/coarser hair type so I sometimes try products that fine haired individuals don't like because they often work well for me.

Jessica Nicolas: Loveeeeeeed this one Abbey. Thank you for always keeping it 100%.

Theresa Moser: Thank you Abbey you helped me confirm what I was thinking. I have curly hair and was doing all curlsmith products and started thinking where can I save. Saved on the shampoo, stopped conditioner, do just hair mask, working for me. Now you confirmed I picked the correct products to save on.

Upasana Veturi: I know you recommend saving when it comes to leave in oils, but I tried JVN’s nourishing shine drops and I was hooked. it’s just so good! I hate it that I love it haha

Brooke Haselow: I'm of the opinion of rotating between high-end and drugstore options across all categories! It's what has worked best for me to have the best of both worlds

Connie: I feel like a just got an A on a quiz I'm pretty much splurging on the right categories, and it's thanks to you, Abbey!

JC: Yes, please do an affordable hair care routine!

Jenny Lou Garcia: Love your videos! How long does it take you to go through a bottle of the hair density serum??

Meechmo: Abbey! I was looking at videos about Olaplex dupes and doing some online research and I stumbled upon the lawsuit between Olaplex and L’Oréal. So apparently Olaplex included an additional compound - maleic acid - in their patent in order to prevent other brands from making cheaper products that do the same thing as their special ingredient. I’d love to see your take on this and maybe evaluation of some “bond building” products that have maleic acid in them! :) edit: looks like Revolution has this in their step 0 - not in the step 3 you tried. But incidecoder has some others listed so I’m curious!

Fiona Darragh: Hi Abbey, Could you do a skincare routine morning and night of this please?

xoxorosequartz: i’ve started using regular coconut oil as a pre wash treatment and i noticed my hair is softer and retaining moisture better

Emma Clark: Love your videos Abbey! The Pureology leave in spray has changed my life, I have purchased other leave in conditioners and such since (out of curiosity) but nothing compares to the Pureology spray with all of its benefits. Definetly worth the money! This was an awesome video!

Jamie Herrera: Love you Abbey. This information is right on time! I can't even afford to drive to work anymore

Arial Hamel: Thanks for always putting out content with lots of information!

Courtney Petersen: The 21-1 by L'Oreal is very comparable to the pureology leave in!

Stavroula Rossi: Hey Abbey! Being the hair goddess you are, could you recommend a hair loss friendly routine?

Pamela Hitchcock: I really love the Garnier hair masks, specially the aloe vera one but I've tried almost all. I felt like they work really good and sometimes even better than the epensive ones I've gotten

kateliness2: Hi Abbey! Q: I recently cut my hair short and it's healthy now. Should I still be using masks and treatments like K18 for long term health or will it have preventative benefits?

Ervin's Movie Corner: A nice haircare routine, Abbey!❤❤

Ang G: Yessss @Abbey! The only hair product I splurge in is K18 repair hair mask. It’s a miracle worker since I get my hair bleached every 3 months! I also skip in-shower conditioner all together. I use It’s a 10 leave-in conditioner + Tresemme heat protectant spray and my hair is so happy and healthy! I save so much time not having to rinse off conditioner lol Skipping in-shower conditioner is a game changer for me

Productive Working Mom: Love your videos. Always so helpful and informative!

Zahra Quettawala: I've been a fan of your content for SO long and i have to say - THANK YOU ! As someone who has naturally thick, long, healthy looking hair (im pakistani so not tryna brag haha, it comes with body hair too rip), I never thought to care for my hair. I also thought that my hair naturally sheds a lot so I wouldn't treat my hair with products or brush it gently, etc. That being said, after watching your channel and learning about the BB hair oil and olaplex bond treatments, biolage shampoo, hair masks, etc. GIRL my hair is so so much better. It's smoother AND i dont get nearly as much fallout. It's crazy that just putting oil in my hair and heat protecting has stopped fall out by like 80%. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Keep killing it!!!

dreamweaber: Oooof! Yes I would also love a splurge & save for skin care!

martha m: Thank you! I have no problem splurging on products like Olaplex 3 and K18 that truly make a difference however now that my teenage daughters are starting to reach for my pricey shampoo and hair masks, it’s hard to splurge on those because they go through them quickly. Do both the Kristin Ess clarifying shampoo and Loreal bond repair shampoo have a low ph? I actually really like Kristin Ess signature shampoo and I think the ph is less than 5. Thanks, such a helpful video. You are a hair guru! I would love an affordable haircare routine video.

Julia Filatova: I'd love to see you favorite fragrance free products in every category

Emily Gerhart: You should try wella’s fusionplex silksteel it’s amazinggg and by far my favorite shampoo conditioner and mask out of the many I’ve tried!! My hair is super fine and fragile and my hair has transformed after using this. I’m trying to grow out my damaged hair and it’s been over a year now with basically no heat, no coloring, good products, and gentle combing. My hair is coming in sooo much healthier with less breakage BUT I’m still waiting for it to get longggg!!!!!

Rebecca Riehle: Shampoo first, blot your hair and then apply your favorite conditioner before clipping your hair up and allowing the steam from the shower to work it magic. If you condition this way every time, along with quality heat protection (both a lotion and a spray) and not cranking your tools up, you will not require a " hair masque".

Nemeseax: Great useful video! Another suggestion: your favorite conditioning products used on no washing days .Would be great for us who ( like you) are washing the hair once a week. TIA

Jamie Panky: Great video! I would love to see a makeup/skin care version of this too! Alsooo I’d love to know what lipstick combo are you wearing in this video? It’s beautiful! Thxx

Ellie Jackson: I'd love this concept applied to skin care and make up! This is such a helpful video

abigail nicole: I’m just so happy I found your channel your like the beauty care big sister I always needed

16kslone: Can you share your thoughts on the divi scalp serum? They also have come out with shampoo/conditioner. They have went over why the ingredients are great, but I’d love your thoughts!

kasnkhy: How do you feel about hair tools (curling iron, blow dryer, straightener) save or splurge?

Amanda L: I would love to know your thoughts on loose powder dry shampoos; I feel I prefer those to aerosols.

MAD World Productions: I’ve noticed that the affordable brands who do hair masks well are usually a subsidiary or sister company of a larger company that has their own higher end hair care lines. L’Oréal owning both drugstore and salon brands, Eva NYC being the sister company of Amika, etc.

Ashley L.: I love the ordinary hair serum!! Also have used the Bumble and bumble HIO primer and oil for yearrrrs now❤ it’s my ride or die at this point❤

matutorials: Have you ever looked into Nutrafol, the hair vitamins? My derm recommended them, which is super surprising since I always felt most hair supplements are pointless

Emily 585: I would love to see an affordable skincare routine

Eni E: For hair exfoliating treatments many anti dandruff shampoos already contain them (so I don't need the extra product) or you can just use whatever exfoliating acid you're using on your face or body.

Grace Jeffrey: Yes! Affordable hair care routine pleeeaase!

Jessica G: A new nighttime skincare routine please!!

Olivia Mullins: For the damage repair section, is there a reason you didn’t mention ApHogee? It is a staple product for black women with relaxed hair. They have a “hard” protein and “softer” protein options depending on needs and when you’re using it and it’s definitely affordable.

Karla Hallows: Always love your recommendations. Thank you!

Desire' : Hi Abbey! Have you used the Davines Oi All In One Milk and the Davines oil, both are for 2 last steps. I put about 15 to 20 pumps of the All In One Milk, and my hair is so so soft. Even my new colorist was asking how I got my hair so soft. And the oil is so great at keeping the frizz out of the ends of my hair. I give the Oi milk to people as a welcome gift when I visit. It might be completely old news to you though. But I thought I’d mention it because it’s worked for me for years. Have a good Sunday. PS some of your skin products while taking Trentinoin have been great for me. Thanks for that!

Crystal Adams: This video was so very helpful! Love it

Tessa Lou: Have you ever done a video on primers? Or preparing a face for makeup? I can’t wear chemical sunscreens on my face because they hurt my eyes SO badly, but I haven’t found a mineral sunscreen that looks good under foundation. I’d love it if you made a video on the best non-sunscreen primers for diff skin types and the best sunscreen primers for diff skin types!

Madeleine Rambicourt: I would LOVE to seee you make this same video with skin care products!

Alannis Bremer: Abbey— would love to hear your thoughts (and possibly a review) on the new youthforia primer

Michael Halbritter: Thanks a lot, very interesting! Could you do a video on change of hair care routine when the seasons changes? I for example suffer a lot in winter because of dry scalp which is not an issue at all in summer....

Jay Moon: Perfect timing - I’ve been binge watching the Blowout Guy’s videos but affordable options are needed!

Nancy Ross: What are your thoughts about the Fable and Mane HoliRoots Oil? I love the scent and have been using it (a free mini size bonus) to revitalize my mid-shaft-to-ends between shampoos (only wash once or twice per week) with nice results. So when it was recently 15% off, I bought the largest bottle. But, before I open it and am still in return window, would like your opinion.

Lisa Bee: I second that on OGX hair oil. It's so good and only $6.99 at Target.

Ana Costa: There's this one Brazilian brand that makes really affordable products, including hair masks, that seem to be quite good (I tried them last year and my very damaged and angry hair seems to like them). The brand's called Lola Cosmetics, but I have no idea how easy it is to come across since I am in Europe and they're in plenty of stores that carry Brazilian products. Maybe give a look at the ingredients list and see what you think! (Also, thank you for your videos, I've been watching them for a few months and my hair is looking the best it has looked IN YEARS since I started taking your recommendations ) Love from Portugal!

Eni E: Redken has a bond repairing line with citric acid. It's not the cheapest brand but it's medium end. Still cheaper than olaplex I think

Bobbi Winiecki: This is a good one, I will refer to it often. Thank you!

Diane Joa: Great video! Would love to know your thoughts on Sally’s Beauty Supply dupes (I think they even have one for oleplex)

Sinead Down: I would love to see you delve into some hair products from Sally Beauty Supply as I’m always curious about those. Especially the Aphogee line (because low PH) and there’s a new brand ‘bondbar’ that looks like it’s trying to be an olaplex dupe.

arielts06: I have been wanting a video like this since you started posting hair shorts! Thank you!!!

mstran603: hi Abbey, great video yet again! would you also do one for skincare and makeup??

Derrick Jennifer Watkins: Pacifica and Sun Bum make my favorite drugstore conditioners and masks. Pacifica's Vegan Silk line as a whole is fantastic!

jkalous100: I would love an affordable haircare routine video.

Liz Cademy: From my research on formulation (hobbyist, not a cosmetic chemist), hair masks *are* rinse off conditioners. The main difference is product texture — masks tend to be thick enough to need a jar, "conditioner" can use a squeeze tube, bottle or pump. The conditioning and repairing ingredients in both are pulled from the same list. Many people don't need both products. Until I started making my own shampoo bars, I used the cheapest shampoo that didn't damage my hair. That included some of the cheapest brands out there, Suave, White Rain, Tresseme. I used a higher quality conditioner, and still do. I agree 100% on damage repair products ... my Olaplex saved me from needing to chop my hair off! I have an expensive finishing oil ... well, a tiny bottle of something that would be expensive full size. I use the smallest drop I can get out of the pump, sometimes that's too much. That tiny bottle might last the rest of my life.

Nikki2370: Anything about drugstore is great. & This is amazing. Thanks Abbey!!!

Jenny: thank you! so needed this video!! been wondering, i haven't had to color my hair yet, and was wondering if i'm wasting my money on products that state they're for color treated hair? my assumption is i can still use them. guessing they're more gentle? idk just wanted to make sure i wasn't actually damaging hair.. thanks!!

Moriah Mackley Stenquist: Please do an affordable hair product routine video!!

daniela luis: Which pre shampoo oil would you recommend for damage hair? I was having a look at the Coco & Eve Like A Virgin Miracle Hair Elixir, is it worth it?

Merel: I feel validated for not falling for the Gisou hair oil. That one is absurdly expensive and I can understand why in how its manufactured, but jfc nearly 80 euros for a bottle of oil is bizarre

Bibop49: Great information, very helpful! Thanks

mostcreative: Do pure silicone serums work the same as hair oils to protect hair from hygral fatigue

Catching Horses: Tresemme makes my hair feel fragile and tangly. I’ll go affordable, but I can’t do that brand in particular.

Sammie Sea: Abbey could you do a laser hair growth systems (ex. irestore) video?

Maria camila Moreno: Hi abbey have you ever tried any solid products or concentrates you could recommend? Thanks for all your great content!

Yara Ver: What do you think of the Maui shampoos? I have been using Purology strenght cure shampoo for almost a year but the Maui is quite a bit more affordable

Chamorro Jen: This might be a hot take lol, but I only wash my hair 2x/week and I've completely replaced the conditioner step with a hair mask. I use a moisture/protein free focused hair mask after olaplex #3 and a protein, damage repair hair mask on the other night I'm not using olaplex. I feel like conditioner is totally unnecessary if you plan on using a hair mask anyways...

A: I just use castor oil or coconut oil on my ends and dry buts before washing. Since I now starting shampooing twice for my oily scalp. I don't even have ti touch the ends it washes right out. My hair comes out perfectly soft and not oily

Janet M: I needed this!!! Thank you!!!

Marwa Mouselly: After one video, hitting the subscribe button made me feel safe

Gabrielle Batista: Do you recommend the L'Oreal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Oil as pre shampoo?

Shannon Johnson: is the olaplex #7 oil considered a finishing oil? I've been using it but now I'm wondering if its worth the splurge?

Jessica Carlson: I just watched a video today by Jonathan Van Ness 16 hair myths and he says coconut oil is not beneficial for your hair… Wondering what you think about what he had to say? Love your videos! You have inspired me to take better care of my hair and I have seen a lot of improvement over the last year.

Tamara Malynovska: Hi Abbey!! Could you please make a review of various keratin straightening treatments please thank you !

Susan Courtney: Great information. Thank you so much!

sobean: Do you think it’s worth splurging on curling iron/wand and straightener? Or do I pay for a luxury feel only without getting any more benefit on my hair health and styling result?

seb1999: Idk if you’ve made one already but I really would love some suggestions for fine hair!

Crystal Henderson: This is great info I watched it twice lol

Anna Schrieber: Don’t put down living under a rock it’s nice and quiet under there, so peaceful ✌️A great place to be
