Mermaid Or Hawaiian Hula Dancer (Heatless Hair Tutorial)

Mermaid, Hula Dancer....what else can this be?

This is my updated version. I've learned a few new tricks to make this work a little better.

-How to deal with braiding layered hair

-How to finish the ends, so they don't look frizzy or have tiny waves or look crimped.

-How to create smooth waves and not big, fluffy hair.

Thank you for your support!

Has anyone also noticed I was able to get myself a better camera to use in my last few hair tutorial videos? When I first started making videos, I was using my husband's Eye Toy from his Play Station and made videos on a loud PC!!!! Over the years, it's been fun buying things like a new digital camera, better lighting and then a lap top to film and edit on. But though I spent money to improve, viewers continued to complain about the quality of my videos. People wanted me to get an HD camera. But no one wanted to pay for it LOL JK! You know what I mean. I knew I was going to have to save up. So, I started to accept sponsored videos and slowly saved up for a nice new HD camera! YAY! I am currently saving up to change my background to make it more interesting, but it will be a while.

Remember, no matter what, if I give you guys a sponsored video, I will also include something for you to take with you: a hair/makeup/nail tutorial and/or a prize. I never want to make you guys feel like I am just USING you. I appreciate that it's super easy and free to subscribe to my channel, but I know it's just that easy and free to UNSUBSCRIBE from my channel any time you want-I won't take that for granted-No You Tube guru should. This is why I try my best to get the most of every thing: A good tutorial for you, with high quality equipment. A bit of earnings for me to continue to purchase for and improve my videos. A bit of earnings for you to earn some small prizes every time I upload a video.

Thank you!

If you have ever used one of my tutorials, thank you for making my time of recording, editing and uploading these videos worthwhile.

If I haven't met you in person, I hope to meet you someday.

If I have met you, HELLO! Hope to bump into you again my friend.

Love,

Iris

FTC: Hanz De Fuko were sent to me, so that I may create a beautiful look for you to follow along with. I really like it, but the proof is in the video :)

Hi everyone - this is iris. Today, I'm going to be showing you how to do these heatless waves. This is actually a remake of a video that I made from February 2008. So here you can get a good look of what the results will be like and, as you can see, I even have some nice curls all the way to the bottom or the tips of my hair. First thing that you're going to do is make sure your hair is slightly damp and detangled. Then what I like to do is I like to start with a French braid that way the waves go all the way to the top of my head, and here you can see all I'm doing is just doing a standard French braid by braiding, my hair and Taking sections of hair and adding it onto the braid now I do have long layers in my hair, so there will be a problem towards the end where I'll have some uneven strands. All I do is I'll take hair from one of the strands and I'll move. It over so that way I'll have more even strands to work with and then just continue to braid it all the way down. Once I get to the bottom and I don't go all the way to the bottom, I leave a little bit of hair like so. I like to twist it into a little roll and then, if you can clip it, you can use a sponge roller, but I don't want to use any of those right now, I'm just using my regular old elastic, I'm looping it through and if you want you Can tuck it into itself just once more for a little added security while you sleep - and this is what your hair should look like once you're done now, it's time to go to sleep and wait for these waves to set in and tomorrow, you'll wake up with Beautiful hair time get up and you will have a lot of frizz because you've been tossing and turning. But your hair should turn out very nice and wavy with these pretty little curls at the end, and I will show you how to remove the frizz. I'M using my hybridized wax from Hanz de Fuko, and I like to use this wax because it's not like a gel or like a mousse which would leave my hair a little flaky and crusty, and also it doesn't weigh my hair down it. Just smoothes it out. Nice and neat - and it still allows my hair to flow and I'll, show you guys the final product in just a little bit. But I'm just showing you how I smooth all my little frizzies away and you can just run your fingers through it to separate the waves just like I did and you're done. It'S definitely something that's very fun and easy to do. You can wake up with your hair like this, and you don't have to use any heat if you don't want to, and it definitely reminds me of like a mermaid type of hair, or you can also use it for a goddess costume if you'd like. It also reminds me kind of like a Hawaiian, hula dancers hair. Doesn'T it so? Hopefully you guys enjoyed this hair tutorial and I'm looking forward to any of you guys trying it. I hope that you have been inspired.

heyllogbye: I'm trying out my hair and undo all the damage i've done since high school but my hair is a big frizzy mess when I don't straighten it. This is perfect in helping me get my healthy hair back so thank you for the idea!

Fav M: Hermosa como siempre Iris. Have a wonderful 4th of July. :) God Bless

Addy White: GORGEOUS GORGEOUS GORGEOUS!! I have been a fan of yours since you were first new and you still amaze me. <3 Keep it up Iris.

briieme: wow this is super easy... If I want to curl my hair in the morning I could save myself 15-20 minutes and have less damage to my hair :) that trick with the ends is a really good idea!

Aimskyy: I live in hawaii and I must agree, very hula dancer-ish :) love it!

Gina Johal: THIS IS AMAZINGGGG!!! trying it tonight!!

SammaLammaDingDong: I didn't catch that the first, or even the second time! Just makes me adore her videos even more :)

BetYourBottomDollar: Very pretty! That wax seems to work perfect!!!

Shaybren Cole: tried this and it came out just like yours did... this is actually the third tutorial that i have done of yours and they all came out just like yours.. i have tried other tutorials and have my hair comes out nothing like what its supposed to look like.. so im assuming we must have the same hair type... any how love your tutorials they give me plenty of inspiration and they look amazing!!!!!

mdexperience2011: Love it! ;0)

Sak D: Enjoyed this vid very cute! And ur hair is gorgeous

Cubanees: So going to try this thank you

Sarah: hi iris, how many braids did you do? my problem when i do this is i tend to do too many braids and then my hair turns out to be a kinky mess lol how many did you do?

Komori Aimi: The volume and weight your hair has gives an effect not many will be able to achieve (luckily my hair is thick and abundant too >:D bwahaha) Lovely tutorial

Hazannuma: Unbelievable how beautiful you are! xx

LatinaChef1986: What type of wax did you use to tame those frizzies? =) 'Cause mousse and gel make my hair the same way too.

unfairestfelicity00: LOL! I LOVE YOUR PERSONALITY AND TUTORIALS THANKS! !!

briieme: My curls never used to last either until I started using a clipless curling iron. If I hairspray my hair it will stay all day, if I don't hairspray my hair will be wavy in 10-12 hours, If I brush out with my fingers and not a brush after curling and then hairspray, it lasts 2 days!

Iris Jay: Hooray for being hair sisters! ><

Iris Jay: Hi there, I did 4 braids, but I have a lot of hair. It will all depend on how much hair you have.If you do 4 and that makes your hair too frizzy, try doing 2 braids instead ;)

Evelyn Demoss: Cant wait to try

majocha: Very lovely! You're such a cutie, too!

SpacePrinceAmes: Where'd you get those earrings from? Theyre so pretty!

xiomara s: Could you please spell out the name of the hair wax and perhaps a link as to where to get it. I would really appreciate it. Your hair is gorgeous.

PinkLilyGarden: What brand is that pink detangler? I've heard those are available by many brands but don't know which one to get?
