Hey guys welcome to my channel and today's video i'm going to be sharing with you more amazing african hair gon na be traveling to the southern tips of angolia and the northern border of namibia. This is where the imbalance who women reside, commonly known as the braided rapunzels their incredibly long natural braided hair reaches floor lengths. There wasn't that much information that i can find on this tribe of people, but the information that i did find. I will, of course, link all of my sources down below, so you can do your own research, so i'm sure many of you would like to know what is their secret to growing hair as long as they did, many ancient traditions have been passed on from generation To generation, and then bantu tribe was able to retain those traditions because they did not sign an agreement that was made by the german government in 1908 and, as we know, for many african tribes, the way the hair is styled is a part of the tradition. As a girl passes through various stages of her life, damn buntu organizes ceremonies in which the girl is given particular treatments to reflect her new status. So when a girl turns 12 years old, she is given special treatments that will help her hair speed up the growth process. So at that age the girl begins to coat her hair with a thick paste made of finely ground tree bark mixed with fat, and what this mixture does is it keeps the hair, moisturized and lubricated in turn, keeping their hair from ever breaking the young girl will Live with this paste in her hair for years before it is loosened, so you can actually see the visible hair fruit. Pips of the bird plum are then attached to the ends of the hair. With the new sinew strings at the age of 16 is when long senu strange then reached the ground are attached to the hair of the girl, and that is when she goes through a ceremony which she is accepted. As a woman now seen as a woman, her hair will go through another change, a new layer of the mixture of tree bark and oil. It will be once again applied to her hair. This will make her hair continue to grow a longer and stronger. When she gets married. Her long braids will be arranged into a headdress by wearing the hairdresser. That will show that you are a married woman. Sometimes the headdress and their hair is so heavy that they have to take the ends of their hair and attach it to a rope and tie it around their forehead. The women will wear this hairstyle for several years until they have their first child. These ambula braids, which are actually known today, to be the inspiration of what we call box braid the origin of box braids, can be tracked back 5, 000 years in african culture to 3500 bc. Many believe that braids are a symbol of strength, wisdom. It reflects their identity, a cultural significance that reflects the connection to the creator, their ancestors and the earth. The 90s ushered in styles, similar to the m bantu hairstyles popularized by celebrities such as janet jackson, jada, pickett smith, brandy and beyonce knows today. These hairstyles are very prevalent in both african and african american culture, if you're not already subscribed to my channel make sure you subscribe, because i should be dropping my own box braid tutorial sometime this week. So what's your favorite style you saw in today's video. Isn'T it amazing how the implants and women can grow hair to their feet? Takara Oneá: So much information I had no clue about

NoTrick-NaturalProduct: yes, we Africans can grow our hair long and healthy if we study our hair type and what products it like and plus regimen. great informative

ilovejoharai: Beautiful!! We should have been able to see info like this as children.... make us appreciate our beautiful black skin and our hair more.

Namu Tenya: Our hair just love to be left alone...

Veronica McFarlane: Great job!!! This gives me goosebumps. More black women should be watching this so that we can stop wearing weaves. We don’t need to wear other people’s hair

Jwxo: As an East African what we use to use back in the motherland was much healthier than all the chemicals carb here in the states. Young girls have butt length hair. They eat healthy and organically grown foods, better natural weather and naturally made hair products like “ Raw organic Cow Collagens and goat butters

Xenia Singleton: Our hair gets longer when we let it be. Wash it, conditioner, add your oils, and leave it braided. That’s the only way my hair grows to the beautiful lengths

curli-lettey: Very informative, I would love to see more of these kinds of videos.

Ms.: Their secret: leave your hair alone after excessive moisture!!

Tea leaves are the best leaves: I love my people and my heritage.

Miguel Lewis: "But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering." - 1 Corinthians 11;15

Maryam Hampton: Sorry if I mispronounced some things I tried my best but it wasn’t a lot of information on the pronunciation. Love you guys so much be kind to one another. We’re all out here trying.

manaar _: Dude I have 4a hair and the best thing I did was do small braids without added hair and leave it tf alone for like a month. Grew my hair insanely fast in a year.

mokitoable: We call them Ambalantu, a tribe also from Owambo tribe but unfortunately our culture has died out. I'm Namibian

TegaJemimah Asifor: As an African young lady this video meant a whole lot to me, thanks a lot for this♥️

Four Ideas Before: Thank you for another of OUR history lessons. I find it quite interesting. Gives me so much self-pride. Thank you, again!

A Day In the Life Of Marté: Omg her accent and her voice is so soothing girl thanks for all of this history we are beautiful ♥️

Ren Young: Thank you for the education. This makes me love these styles even more.

Sherri Okere: Thanks sis I did try the ambunu leaves and I'm loving it. Ambunu has made my wash days easy and detangling is no longer a struggle for me. I'm extremely tender headed and I have waist length hair type 4b. I've experimented various ways of using this herb. My hair Love's ambunu. Sis I tried to buy as much of this herb as I could because I didn't want to run out it.

Kizomba Hipster: Angola my country, Namibia my paradise. I love my African queens!

Ekia Media: The ceremony that you have mentioned in your video is called Olufuko. It recently has been revived again and it is being celebrated every year, in an afford to retain our culture. However it has not been very much been welcomed by human rights organizations. However with every year Olufuko has been growing in numbers and local support.

Sammy: Thank you for this information. I saw this years ago, and was surprise no one ever mentioned this tribe of people. I have been wearing my hair in braids since March 2020. No real growth yet. My hair was so damaged when I started because I flat ironed it 2 x in 2 months. Length retention might start now-4 month later. It was always collar bone length and still is after 4 months. It might be thicker which is quite a feet for a woman over 40yrs. But there is no way, after braiding my hair and finding the ease of care, I’m going back to everyday hair care styles. Life has definitely changed for me.

Inês Cláudia: This video is so informative and love it

Kenya L: How beautiful! Thank you for sharing the little known story behind the Mbalantus’ super rich culture

Lauren Naulty: I love your videos and how you educate people!!! I would love to see more of these videos!

Deborah Swart: Wow! I am gobsmacked by the thickness, length, strenght and beauty of the hair and hairstyle shown by the women in this vid. What type of bark do they use, from which tree? And what kind of oil? Thank you for this vid.

MastoorA Beauty MA: Absolutely stunning hair!

A A: hair is a natural extension of your soul. it's the buildup of skills and emotion. The more spiritual you are the more your hair grows. Cut your hair to start fresh and clean but dont cut too often. Building hair is emotional bodybuilding. The asian/japanese people have made this their culture.

Nunya Biznys: This is fascinating. Thank you!

TheStarrShine: Beautiful!Fascinating! Thanks for posting.

Taylor sara: I wanna know what is that formula THEY are using!!! I need that!!

THOMAS MILLER: Well done. No one should use chemicals on their hair. My daughter has very long hair as well. I am Afro-american man, but i do her hair based on cutting out of all the damaging things i have seen women do their hair over my lifetime and it helps that i now live abroad for now 21 years.

Zephania Rutlokwana: There has been an appreciation of beauty and style in Africa from time immemorial. This is evident in our primitive societies who now preserve who we are as Africans. Pure Africans who should not be seen with western eyes but with african eyes. There is aa lot of untapped beauty in us when we wear western eyes , infact we see no beauty in us when we use western yardsticks. We are beautiful people

Johnnetta Macfarlane: It reminds me of Samson's 7 locs AMAZING Thank you Namaste ❤‍♀️

Ros T: Thank you for representing my country culture. Love and peace to you.

Sonya Freeman: Wow, I love this. Knowledge is key!

Show_Stoppa Zara: Thank you for that short but detailed educational fact ✊

Roxanne Walcott: Beautiful information, thank you dear, I proud of my loc, it's long, down to my butt. I just love wrapping it upwards in one bun, I feel like a true queen with this video.

Makiba Uboke: I always knew this was possible. We have to stop treating our hair the way whyte women do theirs. We wash our hair like them and that is not how WE should do it because it damages and breaks our hair. WE need to wash it without scrubbing it into tangles. We need to wash it straight...no tangling. We should cleanse the scalp first with rubbing natural homemade shampoo on the scalp then wash hair while keeping in straight no scrubbing until it is cleaned.

Sizzles Diaries: Ambalantu women are from our subtribe of Awambo people. When I saw this video I had to go ask my late grandmothers sister and she told me some pretty amazing things which i hopefully will share in a video someday. Thank you for showcasing my people, much love from Namibia.

Victoria Whitlock: Watching this while braiding my hair. Apparently, some people are on the internet talking about, "Having long natural hair is white supremacist." They clearly don't know about these people and are just jealous of people with long natural hair.

Nessa Alixanderia: YUP so it's NOT just a hair style

Shirley Warner: Very good information.Excellent history. Thank you.

Sierra: That mixture looks and sounds EXACTLY like Chebe. The women of Chad also have the same paste !!!!! I use it and my hair is actually growing check it out y’all

Purposefully Ruusa: Learning something new about my own country people. This is awesome.

Miss Moraa: So true I came. Back home and my hair started growing again

Shannon Armstrong: Thanks for the info I love diversity of my hair 4c with some 4b

Jak h: So did they wash and keep the hair clean? And did they ever let the hair down out the braids

Beatrice Nthiga: African are uniquely created en I wish we can embrace this pliz, let's eat natural, let's live natural that the reason some wanted to steal our land .
