In this video, I'll be sharing with you my full Black Tea Rinse routine that works for me!

Be sure to WATCH TO THE END to see how my shedding significantly reduced!

P.S. If you are experiencing excessive shedding and a BTR is not effective, look into your diet, stress level and consult a professional for additional assistance.

Hey guys welcome back to another video, so today i'm gon na be showing you how i do my black tea rinse um. So i do this when i have excessive shedding and i use about two cups of water and then i pour that into a small pot. Turn it on high and then i grab my black tea bag, so i use about five tea bags. I know it may seem excessive, but i like it very potent very strong to really decrease my shedding. So i leave that to heat once it boils and then turn down the stove, and then i set it aside to cool and steep overnight. So it's the next day and my black tea is nice and cool. It'S well concentrated just the way i like it. So now i pour the tea into a small spray bottle. Just so i can have easy access to my scalp, so i'm about nine to ten weeks post relaxer. I have quite a bit of new growth, so i'm going to shampoo first. That way, i have a nice clean scalp before i apply my black tea rinse and, of course, i'm going to be using my carrot, care, hydrating and detangling shampoo. I adore this stuff. I have a dedicated video on this exact shampoo as to why i love it and the ingredients all that good stuff on my channel i'll also leave the link down below in the description box in case you're interested, but i'm just going to lather my hair twice With this shampoo just to ensure that it's thoroughly cleansed and ready to go yeah, so lately i've been shedding a little bit more than usual. I would say i know that we typically shed anywhere from about 50 to 100 strands per day, but for some reason, i'm noticing a little bit more than that, but typically in this case i always do my black tea rinse. It never fails me. I always achieve great results, meaning less shedding. So i'm going to show you guys exactly how i do it. It'S packed with tons of benefits for your hair and my routine is pretty simple, so yeah, let's get into it. So my t-shirt dried for about 15 minutes and i used that same t-shirt to catch any excess tea that may fall. So here's my black tea rinse, i'm gon na spray, this all throughout my scalp in sections and just massage thoroughly with my fingers. That way everywhere is covered and it can penetrate into my scalp. So if you're not familiar with what a black tea rinse is, it basically consists of using a caffeinated tea, applying it directly to your scalp and leaving it on anywhere from about 20 to 45 minutes. I would say: that's it super easy super effective um. You can use either black tea coffee, green tea. It all depends on your preference, but i prefer to use black tea only because it has a higher concentration of caffeine and caffeine. You guys is the main ingredient here, so if you're not aware, caffeine is actually what helps to block dht, which is a hormone found in both males and females, and it's responsible for hair loss. Unfortunately, um, but studies have shown that if it's applied caffeine, if it's applied directly to the scalp like topically, it actually helps to block dht in the follicles and it helps to promote hair growth, which is amazing. So with that being said, caffeine is a stimulant. So it increases blood circulation to the hair follicles, which is super important um. It helps to move nutrients to the hair roots resulting in healthier hair. So don't sleep on your black tea rinses, guys it's packed with benefits, so not only does it prevent hair loss and shedding, but it promotes hair growth. It strengthens your hair. It actually tints your hair, a darker color, which is super beneficial, and it also gives your hair a fuller, thicker appearance. So it's a win-win. So i'm done. I applied my tea and massaged it in thoroughly and i'm going to leave this on for 45 minutes. Okay, so i rinsed out the tea and i quickly conditioned with my aussie moist black tea tends to have a drying effect on the hair. So i just wanted to soften it up a bit. So now i'm going to deep condition with my silk elements: strength and: silk cholesterol. You guys i adore this conditioner, especially when i'm stretching my relaxer as it's super thick as you guys can see, and now i'm going to use some castor oil, maybe about a teaspoon. I just eyeballed it and i'm going to mix this up and apply it directly to my hair from roots to ends. So i did one side and now i'm just going to finish the other side. So after doing a black tea, rinse you'll probably notice a little bit of tangles a little bit of roughness to your hair and that's completely normal, because that's what the caffeine does so caffeine increases the secretion of water in our bodies right. So the same thing basically applies to our hair as well. So deep conditioning is vital. I'M going to say that again i sound like a broken record, but that's okay. You need to deep condition after a black tea, rinse um, so you notice that i conditioned and then i deep conditioned right after because i did feel a difference in my hair. It did feel stronger um, but i had to replenish the lost moisture and just the softness in my hair, by deep conditioning so using a moisture, rich deep conditioner, i would say, is the best thing to do and that's why i pulled out my old school staple. My stock elements - cholesterol, love this stuff. I used to use it very early on in my hair journey and i'm kind of happy that i circled back to it because it just softens my hair perfectly, especially like right now, when i'm stretching my relaxer um yeah. So it just tames my new growth, my hair feels silky. It feels smooth when using it, so i finished applying my deep conditioner in sections from roots to ends and now i'm gon na go under heat. So i cover my hair with a plastic bag and i'm gon na go under my hooded dryer under medium heat for about 25 minutes. So i rinsed out my deep conditioner and my t-shirt dried for about 15 minutes, or so you guys my hair feels so good right now it feels so soft. It feels smooth it just feels really conditioned. So i'm going to use my so much moisture, hair lotion, kind of as a leave-in conditioner and just massage that, through from my roots, all the way down to my ends and then i'm going to detangle with my wide tooth comb from my ends. All the way up, so now i'm going to do my scarf method and you guys know i love and swear by this method, especially when i'm stretching my relaxers, it's my go-to. So this helps to tame my hairline and just lay down my new growth perfectly. So i do this while i air dry and then i smooth the back with my fingers periodically just to help smooth my hair and make it nice and straight while it's drying all right guys so wash day is done and my hair is still pretty damp. But this is what it looks like so far. I would say it's about eighty percent dry right now, so this is all the hair that i lost during today's wash day. It'S a little bit more than usual, so i'm gon na just give my hair some time to respond to the black tea treatment and hopefully, by the end of the week, i'll see some positive results. But if you guys enjoyed this video be sure to give me a thumbs up comment down below if you've used black tea rinses in your regimen subscribe and i'll, see you guys in the next video bye you

aurin: I absolutely swear my tea rinses. Last year I suffered a major setback due to hormonal shedding and tea rinses saved my hair. I still ended up having to cut off a ton of my length, but it would have been much, much worse had I not done the tea rinse. Thanks for sharing!

logitech 0: This woman literally deserves more subscribers like her content is so good, she doesn’t talk about irrelevant things unrelated to the topic

Lilian Amaka: The best thing I love about your videos is that you are always straight to the point with practical videos or pictures. I can't stand watching people babble for more than 2 minutes without showing me what I came to see. It's tiring and discouraging. Keep up the good works. Love your routine and hair journey. They're inspiring.

Theresa Vinson: So relaxed a couple weeks ago—noticed some shedding recently. Did the black tea treatment a few days ago and no lie shedding GONE! Thanks Val!!

Shantelle Dawkins: This video couldnt have come at a better time. My hair has been shedding like crazy. Thank you so much for sharing your tips.

Valerie Mothobi: This woman is my hair queen!!!!! My hair started falling out after I did the aphogee protein treatment and my heart broke! For a whole week I'd smooth my hands over my head and my hands would be covered in strands I googled how to stop shedding and this video came up. I followed it step by step this morning and in the evening there was NO shedding! I applied my evening products with my hands and no strands came off not even 1! Omg lol thank you so much!

Terrye Moore-Harper: First time taking my hair so serious! I actually had lots of hair at one point (like we all, right) and at 50 did the big chop! My hair immediately grew back - but something started happening. It began to thin and I regretted doing the whole natural thing at that point. Because my hair is fine, I have been told on a few occasions don't relax! Really! I miss my straight hair so much and would love some advice. Shedding with breakage - YES! I will try your technique and hopefully, I can find an educated stylist that knows how to take care of my hair once again. As a professional that's always on Zoom, I just want my hair to look and feel great again. Thanks for doing this video and can't wait to get going on my "new hair journey".

T'Ana Coates: This video is right on time!!! My hair has been shedding so much and has been driving me insane! Thanks for always having such helpful, amazing content!

C C: This actually works! Really well. I kept the black tea rinse on my scalp for 30 mins. I also kept the conditioner on whilst I did the tea rinse as I didn’t want my hair to dry out. I did a 15 minute deep conditioner, and I used a plastic bag to cover it. Three weeks later and I’m experiencing minimal shedding. Thanks so much for this. Love your videos.

Tara Lion: I need to try this. The season's been making my hair shed a bit more too and though I guess it's still in the normal range, I wanna hold on to as many (healthy) strands as possible. Love u and ur content. You've helped me so much on my hair journey. My hair's longer and stronger and your tips are a lifesaver.

racc: So glad that it reduced the shedding for you. That was exactly what I wanted to know. You are two steps ahead, as usual!

DS: I do a green tea rinse and it works wonders. I leave mine on for 10 minutes and use an applicator bottle. I used it for two wash sessions in a row, two weeks a part and it really worked. I used Lipton green tea. Using a very good moisturizing conditioner afterwards is a necessity. Thanks for sharing!

Tee Beauty97: I needed this, I’ve been shedding after my recent relaxer! Thank you! Will try this! ‼️

Kerry Fitting: Omg you just came up on my feed and I used to watch you when you were a young lady. You helped me so much during my relaxed journey! I stopped watching because I transitioned to natural. I am so glad to see you are doing well. You and your hair are still beautiful!

Hannah-Leaha Caton: I....am learning SO MUCH right now!! I am so excited to strengthen my relaxed hair journey.

Autumn Obsessed: This came at the right time. My hair has been shedding like crazy and it always happens when I start ovulating. I'm going to try this.

Mimi Mack: Val....you are SUCH a blessing SIS!!! I did my first post relaxer, protein and DC last night, and I was wondering what in thee WORLD is this SHEDDING all about??? Your timing is perfect, I will do a BTR on my DC day on Thursday (following your lead on the extra weekly DC...) Raeanna Edwards: I'm going to try this for the first time today!!! Thank you for the advice and tips

nf094e R E N É E: This was perfect timing. My hair started shedding a few weeks ago and IDKY. When my daughter's hair started shedding she used rice water and it stopped almost immediately but ive heard good and bad things about rice water so I wasn't comfortable with using it for myself. I'm gonna try the black tea method instead and see if it helps. Thanks for sharing.

Sandralina Kabamba: can you keep the black tea in the fridge for another application at a later date? or do you make a fresh batch every time? love your videos!

Candice Colebrooke: Omg, YES. I was just complaining to my mum earlier today that I need something to reduce my shedding. Thank you for letting the Lord use you. Lol.

Rosetta Caballero: My hair changed after I had my daughter a year ago. Before I was pregnant my hair was healthy and minimal breakage as well as during my pregnancy. This past year I have had a lot of split ends and a lot of breakage. I will try this the next time I wash my hair.

Natina Powell: Relaxer stretches makes my hair shedd like crazy! It was doing more harm than good to my hair!

Simone dBs: Thank you for this video . I did the black tea rinse two weeks ago and I feel like it's starting to work. How often do you use the black tea rinse in your regimen?

trinkerbell: Make sure you guys take your vitamins especially zinc and iron, we don't need any setbacks

nitasharocks6: Wow I'm so surprised with how little shedding you had, that is amazing! I've been shedding a lot for a while which I think is due to hormonal imbalances and being anemic. I will definitely try this out!!!

Folakemie O.: Okay I'm going to try this. Having some breakage so this should work, really came at the right time. ❤

Lis PA: I have tons more shedding than that! I'm going to do thus going forward. Thank you so much for sharing ❤

HrhSophia TheFirst: I was just saying yesterday I wish you would address this as I have had crazy shedding for over two months and it is scary. I drink a cup of tea a day so I will divert a few to my hair. Thanks for the tip!

Princess Johnson: I've used the green tea rinses on my hair and it definitely makes it dry deep conditioning after is a good thing.

Priscila Morales: Wonderful content!!! Not sure if people are aware but many people have been shedding a lot more post covid. I went through it myself.

Cynthia Burton: My hair has been shedding a lot for the last three weeks. I hope this works for me I’m going to give it a try thanks for sharing .

EJ: I’m a natural but still your tips not involving relaxers are universal

Exquisite Lexx: Hi love! Do you think I can do this while pregnant? I'm experiencing some shedding on my ends from excessive buns so I decided to relax on that and go back to roller setting my hair since I don't have shedding doing that but I also want to try this! Love your content by the way loyal subscriber

Prayer Lion: Hi I dont usually comment of peoples' videos but I had to say thank you. I live in the Caribbean and its difficult and very costly to access some of the products you use for healthy relaxed hair..To cut a long story short I have been experiencing some breakage and shedding. Decided to try the black tea rinse and immediately saw less hair come out during my wash process. Thank you again

Tanya: Love your videos and the results you showed at the end were extremely helpful!

Coach LaQueta Wheeler: Thanks for the video! My hair is excessively shedding after a recent relaxer. I’m going to try the black tea today!

April’Kayy DatsMe: I’ve learned so much from you during my relaxed journey❤️...but I have 1 question for you, how do I store my relaxers when I don’t use it all?

Sat: Great video as always, thanks! I love using black tea, used it both as prepoo and after shampoo. I'm due another use this coming week. Something I have noticed is you applied your DC from roots to ends what I normally do but founds do many ladies day it's the wrong method but I really don't understand how, any idea?

Marinala gonzalez: Good morning Sunshye, I hope that when you read this message you and family are in best of health. On Sunday13, 2020, it was my wash Day. I've been following your wash day regimen since July 2020. My biggest problem is that my hair is still shedding and when I air dried comes out frizzy and puffy. I also do the scarf method. Thanks for your recommendation to air dry in large twist but can you do a short video showing that method. Also a friend mentioned to me that if you do banding method to air dry relaxed hair, please do a video on both method. Same day of my wash day I conducted a hair porosity test and results were that I have ( Low Porosity hair) I did the test hair had no products, I put my leave in and jojoba oil and Scarf. Don't know if that is the correct way. Can you name some hair products for (LOW POROSITY) hair. Thanks for being informative and an inspiration. I need your guidance. Blessings for you and yours.

H S: Definitely had to like and subscribe! Learned so much from you already I’m telling EVERYONE about your channel ma’am!!❤️

Evalsamm: Thanks for being consistence with your relaxed hair journey and thanks for sharing this video too. God bless you. Amen.

Nadege Domingo: @hairlicious . Your channel is the best thing that ever happened to my hair! I have shared it with everyone!! How often do you recommend using black tea on my hair? Can I do it once a week for a few weeks? Thanks

Kiki- 2010 And Beyond....: Great video!! Please keep them coming. I love seeing DIYs for relaxed hair. How do you keep your hair from tangling?? I don't know the last time I was able to wash my hair like that all together without having to section it off.

Deborah Blissett: I am definitely trying this because I have breakage every time I comb not a lot but I do and it’s annoying ❤️

Rose Nixon: Thanks for sharing! How often should a black tea rinse be done?

queenroyal royal: Thank You so much Val I always wanted to know how to do a black tea rinse and you showed from beginning to end you are the best

Victoria T: I tried the black tea rinse for the 1st time on Thursday. What l didn't do was to let it steep overnight and then keep the left over tea (wasn't sure how often we should be doing the rinse) till the next wash day. Learned something new tonight. Thanks for sharing.

Jenora: I use to have really long and thick hair. I relaxed it and then dyed it and it fell out in clumps. It’s been over three years since that happened and I still can’t get it back the way it use to be. I’m going to try your methods hoping it restores it back to how it use to be. I’ve all but given up. It’s disheartening to use to have hair down the middle of my back to now it being ear length. The roots seem fine but the ends are awful and I know that’s why I don’t retain length. Even with trimming the ends. My ends hate me.

Sapphire Relaxed Hair: Hello there.... Glad this is helpful to your problem. I've heard of this in the past, and seen great results from it. tfs God bless you

MsKimmyK: You inspire me.❤ Trying this right now.

The Relaxed Afro: Been thinking of trying this out. Thank you

portland8000: Love your hair and your knowledge on hair care. I used a rinse on my hair to cover the gray especially in the front of my hair. Do I used the black tea rinse before or after i do my dye rinse? Thank you

Lynda Bennett: I’m always looking for a shortcut. After washing, can I apply the tea to my scalp with an applicator bottle then add the deep conditioner to my hair at the same time. I’d like to reduce the overall processing time. Has anyone done this without adverse effects?

Marie Rey: Black tea rinse - amazing! It reduces shedding quickly. Had one on Sunday

Mauricia Nicholson: I hope you see this message… I realized I have been shedding more than usual could b because I’m 7mths post partum. I want to try the tea rinse for the 1st time and I was wondering if when I apply the rinse can I apply the deep conditioner on top of it and wash out together?

Nana Ama Akosah: Thanks for this video, served as a reminder. Since covid stepped in I've totally forgotten about tea rinses. I'll get back to it God willing Tomorrow .

RoyalNation: I just want to say thanks for explaining why the black tea rinse works Knowing the logic behind it really increases my confidence in it like. Thank you for that

Latoya Kell: I need to get back onto this! Love this video

lavina robinson: Once I take my braids out, I am going to do this.....Thank you

Tanya S: Every time I watch your videos I learn something new. Wow! Thanks for the new tip!

JoJo Refuse: I did this treatment step by step and half of my hair came out puffy like as if the relaxer reverted back to my 4C hair texture. What did I do wrong ? How do I fix this? I just had my relaxer done for the first time 3 weeks ago

Meriem Diouf: I have a question, i relaxed my full hair 2 days ago how many days do have i have to wait to wash my hair and also how many time a month. Also do i have to moisturize every day ? . ( sorry english is not my first language)

VanessaRenee.ButterflyReborn: Aloe Vera liquid and jbco with essential oils rinse and protein conditioner and then my personal cholesterol deeper conditioner mixture. On clean scalp and hair. Gonna do my black tea rinse this week.

Motivational_Strongwill D: Thats a good idea im have to try that. I usually mix in my conditioners like fenugreek powder and neem powder with that cholesterol treatment that you used with the humfecto conditioners by keracare and let me tell you shedding is way less when I do those mixes and I also uses it on my 4 yr old daughter natural hair and its grows like a wildflower and healthy. But tfs I will add that to our routine.

Marshalee Chambers: New subscriber to your channel. You're pouring out some gems. I appreciate you. I'm 2 weeks into relaxing my virgin hair. How do you sleep with your hair, do you flat wrap? I try flat wrapping but I can't get the hang of it. Please help. Thanks!

melissa silva: I absolutely love using black tea but what you said about it having higher caffeine than coffee is not absolutely true, Tea leaves contain 3.5% caffeine, while coffee beans have 1.1–2.2%. However, the coffee brewing process uses hotter water, which extracts more of the caffeine from the beans. ... Therefore, 1 cup (237 ml) of brewed coffee generally has more caffeine than a cup of tea.

Kim Moore-Payne: Can you refrigerate the BTR and if so, for how long?

Blessing Kalu: Great content here! Can the DC be applied immediately after the black tea instead of waiting 45mins? Would it still be effective?

Smile: Can you leave the tea in your hair without rinsing it out? Or no?

POV: Very informative! Thank you ❤❤❤

HairObsess Club: Hi there I just had a dramatic relaxer day last week Saturday and posted the results on my channel. I said that i noticed when I am stretching pass 8-10 weekes I see a lot of shedding. 2 weekes prior I brewed coffee and spritz it on my scalp then went on to deep condition with keracarw humecto but the day of the relaxer I was still shedding. Is that normal?

Tee Brittany: HEY PLEASE HELP i was watching your Q&A videos and you said to always follow up with a protein treatment about 1 week after relaxer day, which is the 1st wash day. however, ON my relaxer day i did a protein treatment with the Silicon Mix. My 1st wash day post relaxer is coming up, should i still do the protein treatment or skip it since i already did one on relaxer day. being that you also said protein treatment once a month. i’m so confused please help ❤️❤️❤️

Pamela Bailey: I was natural for 3 year and relaxed my hair, now it's shedding like crazy!! Will the tea work for my hair?

Jean: @hairlicious I wanted to know if you use the left over black tea rinse for a another wash day or do you just pour it out and then start over with fresh tea bags that you boil?

Kim Husbands: Can this tea rinse be done once a week or once every other week?

Monica Herrera: Absolutely love your channel!

Simoiya Hector-Morales: Thank you for this amazing hair tip

Fifi H: Can you store the unused rinse in the fridge afterwards or is it best to brew it fresh every time?

Shirlz: Gurl...I've been But you've woken me up! Many thanks! There's nothing like a nice cuppa! ☕️

Debbie Thompson: Your tips are AMAZING

BeautybyMattie: Yasssssss I definitely remember this method. I was a subscriber to your blog Hairlista page. I really miss that site. Your is still beautiful and healthy. Thanks for sharing plus reminding me of the black tea rinse. I'm natural now, but I'm guessing it will work the same.

A: I did this method for the first time and only sprayed the tea on my scalp without rinsing it out until my next wash day. Is this okay ?

Charlene: I saw on your blog site you used to use a shower filter to help with shedding and dryness. Do you still use a shower filter? If so, which brand? Thanks for sharing!

Allison Johnson: It's so funny I did my black tea rinse earlier to day because I'm having some shedding myself.. great minds think a like!!

Quele Nelson: So I recently purchased Aphogee Keratin 2 Min Reconstructor and I have a question. Do you use it as directed on the bottle or do you apply it in a different way?

Asia Ramona Collette: Have you tried onion juice? It works amazing for hair shedding as well!

Bel Tica: Thank you so much for making this I’m newly texlax and I’ve been shedding a lot

N B.: So : Wash Tea rinse Condition Deep Condition Leave in Condition Definitely try the tee shirt wrap. Awesome

Leti A: Another great video, great tips . Thanks for sharing.

PIMAN!: Thank you for keeping it short and sweet.

MeMyself&Irene Jones: I noticed my hair was shedding more since the last wash day. Normally, I use The Mane Choice Mocha & Molasses Anti Shedding Remedy. Great tip good to know‼️
