I'M finally uploading this video um. It'S been over a month since i straightened my hair, but i had an iphoto crash, so some of the footage may look a little pixelated or damaged, but for the most part it all looks great. But you will get a lot out of this video, i'm going to show you how my hair reverted back the tension method for blow drying all of the heat protectants, the flat iron. I chose the method and my first trim by professional since i've been natural. I'Ve been trimming my own hair for the past three years, so guys enjoy the video just a few things. I think you should know before you decide to straighten your hair, make sure you deep condition your hair and know that hair burns at 451 degrees so make sure you use a temperature much lower than that, and especially if you have fine hair, because fine hair is More sensitive to heat or if your hair is already damaged or if you already have an excessive heat regimen but know that your hair could be damaged on the first try of using heat heat is a personal choice. I'M not condoning anyone to put heat into their regimen. It was my choice to straighten my hair. I would like to start by showing you how my hair reverted back. I put in some deep conditioner and four sections bagged it for about an hour got in the shower rinsed and my curls came back immediately. If my hair would have reverted back, i would have done a video on heat damage and what you should not do when you flat on your hair. This is the back. Oh, my hair feels good and look no stringy ends right now. I have some really loose hair in the front already, so i wouldn't call that heat damage. It'S just always been loose and i'll, probably post some pictures so that you can see this up here has always been looser than the wrist, but still there's no stringy hair. Like i said there are parts of my hair that have always been loose. I have like. I said i have like three textures in my hair, so if anything looks looser than the rest, i wouldn't consider that heat damage, but i'm looking for pieces that are straight and stringy look look see: curls curls girls, curls again my front section. It'S always been looser than the rest time to talk about the blow out, make sure your hair is nice and clean. This is the blow dryer that i used um. I use the tension method. Therefore, i'm not using the comb attachments that came with this blow dryer. I used carol's daughter, macadamia heat styling, hair spray, 450 degree protection. Remember i told you hair burns at 451 degrees, which is the same as paper. I used clamps to separate my hair into sections and my hair is already sectioned off into twists that i did from my breakdown method. I use the breakdown method and i will post a link to those videos in the description box. Therefore, my hair is already detangled. My ends are my hair, sealed with the leave-in conditioner and a light oil. I chose jojoba oil, my hair, i let it dry for a while. So my hair is damp, i'm not doing it on soaking wet hair, i'm going to spray the heat protectant and i'm going to rub it through before i blow dry it and when i take the blow dryer, i'm just going to work it up and down. My hair, slowly i'm going to start with a medium heat to kind of start to dry it, and then i will press the cool shot button after i've used the medium heat. I never use high heat when i'm blow drying my hair. So you do this to each section basically holding on to the end, to cause tension and to stretch the hair out. So whenever it's getting kind of dry, it's all. My hair is already detangled, but i'm going to take my brush and i'm just going to make sure that it um it's just to detangle it a little more so after i've done that, i'm going to dry it a little more, but i'm not going to let My hair get completely dry, i'm going to get it as close as possible, i'm still going to let there still be a little moisture in there. If you understand what i'm saying i'd say make sure it's between eighty percent to ninety percent dry, you will need clamps a comb and you also need a brush, and this is the brush that i use during my breakdown method series. And if you want more information on it, i will post a link in the description box. I chose to purchase the ipac argon infusion, styling iron and, as you can see here, there is a chamber and in that chamber it holds a heat protectant solution. I purchased the flat iron for 69.99 at sally's beauty supply and it came with a bottle of the solution and an extra chamber, and what i like about it is that it is focused on heat, protective styling and the solution is supposed to act as a heat. Protectant that comes through the vented plates, and it also has temperature control settings, which i find very, very important with flat ironing your hair. Here you can see the vents the um holes in the plates for the steam to come through and there's also a dial for you to control the steam options. I kept the temperature at 375. I felt that my hair could handle it because it's thick and i don't use heat excessively in my regimen. All hair is not created equally. So if you have finer hair or if you have use heat in your regimen more regularly, that may not be the temperature setting for you again, personal preference and i also unplugged the flat iron halfway through doing my hair to let it cool down. And then i restarted it again at 375. This is my first time really pressing my hair. When you see steam, don't think that or when you see smoke, don't think that it's uh burning, it's actually steam coming from this iron. This is a ipac. It has a argon infusion, uh solution that goes into the flat iron that acts as a heat protectant, and i already have heat protectant on my hair and um yeah. So i don't think it's burning my hair, i'm going to separate my hair in sections and i'm going to straighten each section. Okay, so i'm about to put my hair into four sections. Okay, now that my hair is in sections, i'm going to create smaller sections using a rat tail off of a brush that i used to use for relaxers. So anything with a pointy end use that to separate your hair into smaller sections and what i'm going to do is brush that section out and then i'm going to do one stroke with the flat iron over that piece of hair. So i'm just going to do one stroke and then i'm going to comb that part out and what i'm going to do is attach my comb to that piece of hair that section of hair and then i'm going to go over it one more time. Gliding, the comb down, basically detangling and straightening at the same time, and that's it that's what i do all over my hair and i'm halfway through with my hair and i'm going to show you that one more time. So this is my last section i'm going to brush through it i'm going to take one stroke over my hair and again that's not burning my hair, the smoke you see, that is actually the heat protectant from the flat iron. So i'll go over that section, i'm going to comb it out again and then i'm going to attach the comb to that section of hair and i'm going to um. Do it one more time go over my hair again with the flat iron and the comb detangling, making sure it's nice and straight, and that is it. It is now complete. That was my last. My last section and voila uh enjoy a few clips of me playing with my straight hair, remember to stay tuned for um, my first trim by professional after three years: okay time for the trim. If you look at my face, i look a little nervous, but this is a very good family friend that used to do my hair. Whenever i was younger and even though we're not in the shop, she is a licensed professional and she came over she's, so sweet and i asked her to trim my hair. While it was this straight and she's, not a scissor, happy stylist, and i'm very, very thankful for that - and i told her i wasn't worried about my hair being in any type of layers or being even all around. I just said i wanted um a nice trim because i'm going to start documenting my journey to waist length hair and i wanted to start with a professional trim. So look for those videos in the future. I'M gon na see how long it would take me to get to waist length, and i hope you enjoy my flat iron tutorial. I hope it helps some of you out that have been deciding or debating whether or not you want to flat iron, your hair. I'M glad i escaped heat damage free, i'm not going to flat iron, my hair again, maybe for another six months or another year. Thank you for all of those who watch our channel for more videos. If you have not already, please subscribe, we're also on facebook and tumblr. Thank you guys and god bless

Renita Payno: So, I flat ironed my daughter's Hair last week using your method and it reverted back marvelously! No heat damage. Just as curly as before. Definitely using this method from now on. Thanks!

Hayleigh Murray: Your hair is amazing naturally and straightened. Also helped me realise my hair is very heat damaged. Thanks so much, starting my hair journey today thanks to you :)

bebopbountyhead: This was great. I really appreciate your effort in putting these videos together. I've always wanted to straighten my hair healthily, but have never felt confident enough to do so. Again: thanks.

Rasheema McLeroy: I gave myself a bad perm. I overprocessed.. literally washing my hair down the drain!! I did my big chop ( to the scalp) 7 months ago. My hair has grown in so thick and full. I'm really loving it. Along the way, I've been watching your natural hair journey. You have inspired me to keep going. Maintaining it can be so much at times, I actually thought of perming it again. That thought left my mind quickly - I'VE COME TOO FAR! I'll be getting my first trim and flat ironing it, spring 2016... I can't wait to see how much it's actually grown! I'll be following your detailed instructions on how to prepare my hair for the salon visit. Wow..thank you! Keep up the good work sis - I'll be watching. Your locks have grown out beautifully!

Leann Hayden: Black women should be able to wear their hair anyway they like; Its not up to anyone else. I'm natural btw.

donte alexander doss: Really great video! I'm a single dad and have a daughter in whose hair I've learned how to do. One area I have issue with is straightening but I'm going to purchase the products that you suggested. Thank you so much for sharing this!

Renita Payno: I'm flat ironing my daughter's Hair for the second time. The first time I was afraid of hear damage so her hair really wasn't straight. But I deep conditioned over night and I'm going to use your technique to help prevent heat damage.

Kinna Hammond: Love love love your hair! What an inspiration to go natural!

Hospitable Beauty: When I was in cosmetology school we used your picture when talking about hair pressing and texture. Everyone was amazed at the outcome.

love di choreo: Great recommendations for trimming while the hair is straight. Your hair is fabulous, thank you for posting this!

Lorri Nichols: I love your natural hair - I wish I could have those curls! This was a great video, great info - thanks!

ThaLuciousTanya: Your hair looks great! I have been natural 1 1/2 yrs and haven't straightened mine but one day I would like to. Thanks for the tips!

Stephanie Jones: Thanks a lot! This actually worked pretty well on both of my daughters hair. Thanks for posting!

God, grant me the serenity......: Your hair is beautiful curly and straight, but my fave was curly/natural and combed out! When you had it in the clips to straighten it, it looked pretty too, almost like a vintage look.. I know it wasn't on purpose lol but you and your hair are pretty..=]

Nicole Hillary: Thank you so freaking much I've been looking like a week straight for a simple way to get my curls straight.

ohitsjai: my mom just got that blow dryer today, it works miracles! I'm in the process of transitioning right now and your videos really helped me with keeping myself from giving into not stressing over my hair.

Dee_TheChosen1: Thank you so much for the tips. I have learned so much from this vid. Your hair is lovely, can't wait for my hair to grow out that long.

Alaia Johnson: The arguments here are nothing short of idiotic! If a black women wants to wear weave, sew ins, etc., that's her choice. She is the only one who has a say in what goes on her head. And we don't do it because it 'makes us prettier,' we might do it because it is the best option for us at the time. We might have cut our hair, and want to grow it out under the synthetic hair, or our hair seems hard to manage and we don't have time and tolerance for it. Quite simple.

Lamica Noor: very nice tutorial. Thank you for taking the time to put the tutorial together. Whenever I straighten my hair, it looks horrible. But when my stylist doesn't, it looks amazing. I'll have to try the low heat when I blow dry or along with making sure to keep my hair damp a little. Thank you again ♡♡♡♡

Milly Quezada: Honestly You Are BeautifulAnd The Fact That You Do You And Inspire Others Despite All The Rude Comments Towards Women Of Color And Their Hair TypesThe Trim Was AmazingMore Women If Color Should Be Inspired To Go Natural Many People Want Gorgeous Hair Like Yours❤️ Sincerely, Milly❤️

K H: This video is pure encouragement & inspiration. I received my last relaxer in 2011 so ive just begun my journey

Beware the Lily of the Valley: Last weekend, I tried twice to flat-iron my hair. After watching numerous videos, I thought I had done everything right, from using a deep conditioner to using moisturizers to even using a shower cap, blow dryer and heat protector. When I first started using the iron, I just *knew* it was going to come out nice! Instead, it was dry and brittle. It really needs to be professionally trimmed but how do I get it to be soft and shiny? Help, anyone?

Bubble Fett: Your natural hair is GORGEOUS. I'd kill for those curls <3

Chelsey: Such beautiful natural hair! How long did it take you to grow your hair out? I am currently in the transition phase and it's growing like crazy.

Jaterika Samone: I can't wait until my hair grows out to be that long. I have been NATURAL for 6 months and i just did the big chop at the beginning of June and I can't wait to see how long it grows.

Kiara Danielle: Enjoyed this video ♥ your hair is truly gorgeous. Mine use to be that long , i'm seeing progress and using more protective styles and just trimming off half an inch ever so often. Subbed :)

NC Price: Thanks for this vid. I just chopped 1 week ago - not terribly short - and was wondering how to safely straighten my hair. I like having this as a styling option along with the various heat-free techniques. Keep up the great work. Your hair is lovely.

Margo Talkie: Honestly, I can't use heat protectants because it just makes my hair stiff and oily.  My hair doesn't absorb unnatural products very well, and most heat protectants are not natural, unlike a lot of leave in conditioners and oils.  But you don't need a heat protectant for the most part.  The biggest thing I've noticed when it comes to doing your hair is that most people just have their flat iron too high and they blow dry their hair immediately after getting out of the shower, which is the worst thing you can do.  There's a reason why hair stylists don't blow dry your hair immediately after it's wet.  Your hair should absorb the moisture.  It only takes about 2-3 hours for your hair to air dry by itself, depending on how much hair you actually have and the hair type, maybe a bit longer.  But your technique would work for a lot of women.  I do pretty much the same thing, but I don't use nearly as many products as you do just because of my hair type.

Stephanie Mills: I completed my first year being natural and now I am almost done with my second my hair has really tight curls but looks similar to yours wet I hope that my hair gets as longs as yours when I get to year 3. Definitely gonna subscribe

SincerelyChrisandKim: I learned a ton from this video. You really detailed the whole process and I greatly appreciate it.

Jamaica Turner: I really love this! It's helping avoid damage and this was really helpful. Also, you're really pretty. :)

Lvcifer Lvna: It depends on your hair type, hair density, and cuticle layer thickness. My hair type consists of 3c and 4a curls and is high density, so even though it is fine I need to use a heat setting between 360-380 degrees F. The more cuticle layers you have in your hair strands, the coarser your hair is; the higher your density, the more hair you have on your head. So, more heat may be needed to straighten it if it is thicker, coarser, or has smaller curls. However every person's hair is different.

Sweetdenni: OMG! I hate doing my hair!! I love the tutorial, but I hate dealing with doing my own hair...

WealthisoftheMind: Your natural hair is so beautiful! It's also lovely flat ironed.

raelle: this video was very helpful to me because i have an event to go to this weekend and i have not used heat on my hair for one year , besides one time to stretch it for braiding . And i had been apprehensive about doing it now , i love my natural texture and don't wanna damage it . But this video gives me a better out look on straightening my hair.

saja loka: I noticed that many of us black women are going natural .and most of us wear weaves for protective styles.

Kimi The Goddaughter: hair looks beautiful straight and natural <3

Lenita Onen: Your hair is gorgeous. Thanks for the tutorial.

Anthony Hernandez: Your hair looks great naturally!

Zen X: I love your channel, I am learning so much from My Natural Sistas. I have been transitioning just one month shy from a year... and I believed I was doing really well. Last week while at my stylist, I asked her why my hair was so straight just after she had washed it. She stated it was the conditioner she used. Me being very naive, I responded oh okay. I went on vacation to South Beach, once I returned I washed my hair...and my curls are All Gone. I am very upset because my stylist stated that I'll have to cut all my hair off. HELP ME!!!

T'keyah B: I use the kiehls straightening cream that also is a heat protectant and it really gets my hair Bone Straight. I just posted my bone straight flat iron routine

Jocelyn Calhoun: I used your method and got great results!!! Thank you!!

carameldreams2677: This tutorial is so helpful. Your hair is very pretty!

Claire Rousseau: Your hair is beautiful! It looks great straight, but I REALLY like the ultra-tight curled look at 2:23. It has so much texture & body, & just looks like you could wear it in so many different styles. I have Asian hair texture -- we call it "bamboo hair" -- coarse & stick straight & couldn't hold a curl if my life depended on it.I would love to have hair like black women....I would definitely rock the Afro -- the big Diana Ross style hair. It would be glorious!

spaghettihead1234: I will never complain about my hair again!!!

mz07runit: Yess I'm so glad you made this video because I wear my natural hair. I never had a perm and I think i might have been heat damaging my hair!

Darcey DeRosa: Your hair is gorgeous! You will be at your goal length in no time!

Jazzy Chère: Love this video!!!! Question: Can you do a makeup tutorial for this bronze natural look!!!! Plzzzz

Kristin Zafar: U have beautiful hair! Im natural now for 7 months, the front of my hair is heat damaged that its almost straight smh but regardless my hair has grown so much and healthier than it has ever since ive stopped using that creamy crack!! Thanks for this tutorial!

amina toure: After like... 5 years of wearing braids my hair is now lower than my shoulders!

Pinkglass: Thank you for this video, i was looking for a recent video of straightening afro hair at home, this is perfect!

Beware the Lily of the Valley: I always thought putting blended food in my hair was taking it a tad too far but it's certainly something to look into and I thank you for the suggestion ^_^ I have nothing to lose (except this dry, brittle hair...I'm not going to attempt to flat-iron it until at least it's been cut), so I'll look around for some ideas.

J. Irvin: Your method using the comb and flat iron at the same time is genius!

Kysha: Love your hair, thanks for the tips and tricks! Subscribed:)

SistaWith RealHair: This was AWESOME!!

Carla Robinson: Your hair is gorgeous straight or curly! Love your videos, good tips, thank you for sharing!

Ariel Sunflower: This is hands down the best vid ive ever seen. It's very insightful, and has given me confidence to start my own hair regimen and stop with the weaves/extensions! thanks! :-)

Esther Ybarra: OMG!!! I LOVE your curly hair! I have curly hair, but I have loose curls that get deformed very easily.

D Hart: Thanks so much for all the tips! I found this really helpful.:)

Kazuki Katsuhito: these are some realllly good tips, thankyou and your very beautiful

NaturallyCouya: Such gorgeous hair love your curls.!

Ms. T.: Beautiful, curly and straight!!

Dominica Jousten: using a comb with the flat iron is so smart! I'm going be doing that 4 now on

The Lilly: Tbh, I am too lazy for all of that! I'll probably try that some other time.

Kairi271: Just for the record; I am a black woman and I love my hair, my skin tone and my race. I'm glad that I was born a black woman because it has provided me with so much social awareness; just thinking of a me that would have been so blind to the suffering of other races and peoples of color makes me so thankful that I am in fact black. On an end note, although I am black I am neither loud, obnoxious, stupid, promiscuous nor am I prone to anger - unless faced with injustice - so end the stereotyping.

SerialYahooer: You have great hair. That's is exactly what I am trying to go for by becoming natural.

Chiterra ASMR: Seriously, how did you grow your hair out that long. How many times do you trim your hair?

LeeSa Carr: Love this!! Please please list products you used through your length process!! I have the retention issue. Please explain how you trimmed your hair before you received a professional trim.

TheLSpot: Love your hair & that flat iron & combing method. I will be doing that for now on

lilred24sta: I haven't straightened my hair in almost a year and ur video helped alot. Wasnt sure if I needed pressing comb or flat iron bc last time it dd t come out right; but I think I'm gonna try ur method. Gorgeous hair.

Marla Hines: Great info love the channel ..its sad that when we try to build each other up...some1 will try to tear you down ..be and stay encouraged and empowered ladies

breomani: I feel like all black people got them orange combs

Nat: Beautiful hair!

TheCecejennis42: Your hair is gorgeous btw! Love it curly too

The Slayologist: I loved how your hair reverted back to your curls...awesome video!

Shaina Robbins: great vid, gorgeous hair...love how you did that with the comb very clever technique, thx for sharing :)

Dan-NaMal Gambler: does this work for men with kinky curly hair

Dawn555star: This was an awesome video. Thank you. I've learn some more ways to style my hair, thanks to you. You are a darling.

Paula Wiley: Awesome hair and styling / ironing methods, thanks!

Jo Rhodes: Simply gorgeous. Will straighten mine on my third year anniversary next July. Thanks sis fpr the video.

JabbaJae: You're hair gorgeous && healthy mama ! , just like mine when i deep condition it. (:

Tawana718: Didn't know that hair burn at 451 degrees. Thanks for that info.

Danika Blackshear: Thanks, I have natural hair with tight springy curls and your process worked fine for me. I will be looking around for more hair care.

CBJason: I have gone to countless salons to get my daughter's hair done.  The heat with her thick curly hair has been dreadful.  The concept of stretching and drying even with a cool temperature preserves some heat, then I just flat ironed it.  I loved this suggestion.

fbi: Nice hair. Your skin is flawless!!!

elizuhbeth: Since its natural how does she get it to stay straight without frizz

successalive5: You are gorgeous and your hair just complements your beauty.

Raven James: thank you so much for making this video, it was really informative!

Tom Sugar James: Your channel is really good and helpful, I'm a hairdresser in training and your tips are really use full xoxoxoxo

Jaianna: 4:26 I actually LOVE how it looks blown out like that

izza bari: Not straightening for another year....?..wow thats a long time...!

mobilarity: Never sat and watched an entire video like this one before, you have some very informative tips and I think I want to completely stop using relaxer on my hair and just use a flat iron...Thanks

Meepasaurus: This is what I do to my hair too! With washing and blow drying that's good. Then I straighten too! Wow this is a food and useful technique. It helps or hair. Thank u for putting this video I luv it and its awesome!

Kiara Palmer: Kelly thanks for your response. First, I love my natural hair. I will admit it did take a while to fall in love, but I did. Secondly, my goal has never been to look white. As a student journalist, it was in my best interest to straighten my hair temporarily for anchor auditions and on-air news stories. The question I posed was how to keep the style after putting time into it. Plus, its my hair my preference. Maybe you should understand before you attack in a comment.

Natasha Peoples: I had issues with frizzy ends so I tried the comb technique and omg it works. The frizzy ends are straight. Really helpful.

Eyama Harris: Black people can not just wash there hair & let it dry overnight without combing it out, putting oil in it and twisting it in some type of protective style then wrapping it up. If we did it would be dry & matted & too ruff to work with!

Lynn G: I agree, I love our hair the way it is the curly kinky beautiful hair-do's. I could never endure all of that...whew :)

Lol303 Msp: Uhh... 11 years with crazy curly hair, I can finally get straight hair thanks!

Namilea LOTI: YES!! Geez I straighten my hair too, and sometimes I curl it, and sometimes I'm blonde and sometimes I'm brown and sometimes dark brown and blonde at the same time lol. Women do this, it has nothing to do with skin colour! Most WOMEN do stuff to play with their looks!

monidanielle: She is sooo freaking gorgeous!! She doesn't even need makeup! <3
