Grow Long Relaxed Hair: One Thing I Wish I Knew Earlier

How to grow relaxed hair long and healthy

Our hair does grow slightly slower than Caucasian hair. However, my point that breakage, not growth, is our main problem, still stands. Also, I forgot to mention that there is a difference in the active ingredient when it comes to lye versus no lye relaxers. Lye relaxers have sodium hydroxide while no lye relaxers, which is actually what I use, use a different counter ion with hydroxide instead of sodium.

How I grew my relaxed hair long, past shoulder length, and closer to mid back length, approaching wast length. I talk about the major thing that I attributed to my long black African american hair growth and I also discuss things such as my relaxed hair care routine and regimen, protective styling, as well as the type of brand of relaxer I use, stretching, how long I wait before relaxing my new growth, and the products I like to use on my relaxed hair.

I do not grow my black hair fast with vitamins, but I have tried biotin before. I stopped due to the breakouts it caused on my skin but I do know that they can grow black hair faster naturally. You can try to grow black hair long, strong, and fast using home remedies, as well, but none have worked for me. Overall, learning how to grow long healthy relaxed hair is not hard. It many not happen overnight, but patience is key. Black relaxed hair can grow! How to grow long black, African American, relaxed hair faster.

Hey guys, if shells so let's talk long relaxed here now, if you're anything like me, you're, probably watching a bunch of these videos on YouTube about growing, longer relaxed here, and you are frustrated with your hair, whether it's like stuck at shoulder length and you just want A way out - and I was like you - I watched a bunch of these videos and I wasn't really going anywhere now that I have a long relaxed here. I'M back here on YouTube to tell you guys what I wish. Those videos had told me that they did not stress enough, so just stay tuned for that, so with any problem that you are trying to solve and we're trying to solve the problem of short relaxed here, you want to see what is the source of the problem. Why is my hair staying short and once you like understand, what's causing the problem, then you can figure out? How do I solve this better? So it's important to understand that your hair is growing. Some people think that, oh, since I'm black, my hair just doesn't grow as fast, not true at all. Your hair grows just as fast as any other race. The problem is that you aren't retaining all of the length that your here is bro, so why aren't you retaining all of the link because relaxer? So let me give you a bit of a science lesson: relaxers work by breaking these things called disulfide bonds, because it's the disulfide bonds in your hair that make it more curly, but these disulfide bonds are what also give your hair strength so by breaking these bonds. To make your hair straighter you're also breaking the strength in your hair. This is why relaxed hair is so fragile, because you're giving up strength for straighter hair. So once your hair has lost that strength, anything that you do to your hair, since it's already in a weakened state, will make it great more easily than here that hasn't been relaxed. So, knowing that you can go into figuring out, how do I keep my hair from break? One thing that I change in order to grow my hair longer was to stop manipulating it as much do I stop manipulating mine here, asthma. Easiest way to do that is through a protective style. Every time you touch and manipulate you're here in some way, you're giving it a new opportunity to break not for me the my let go to protect this styling is we use if you are familiar with my channel, that you know that I do a lot of Stuff on leaves because they're just amazing, protective styling and you might be like wait, but this other girl in this other video just told me that leaves are so bad for your yard wrong. I remember listening and people say that too - and I was like I am NOT gon na - get a weed because I'm kind of girl, my hair, that's like the biggest myth that I just want to dispel so and really do grow your hair a lot, but with Any protective style there is all, of course, a way to mess it up, make sure that your protective styles are actually protective styles. One way that your protective style cannot be a protective style is if your braids are too tight, especially around the front of your hair. I'Ve seen so many people who come back from like the African hair graders, who just like to grab onto every single piece of here, especially in the front, really really tight, and it causes this thing called traction alopecia, which is basically actual hair loss. So that's why people say that we used her back for you here, because you can like lose your edges from it, but no that's only if your braids are too tight or if you're not taking care of your leave out properly. My go-to protective styles, so ins crocheting any type of braids as long as they aren't too small, like micro braids, can actually mean really bad for here. Just remember that some of those African hair graders are not your friends and they do not care about the health of your hair. But then you may be saying well Sean. My hair's embraced like pretty much all the time and my hair still isn't growing, even though I'm doing these protective styles, I've noticed that the difference between me and other people who do like the exact same protective styles, the difference between me having longer hair than them, Is the way we take care of our hair in between those protective styles, especially when we're taking down these protective styles, it becomes so easy that whenever you're taking down your hair, you just get frustrated and you just rip the comb through your hair as you're taking It down, but it's so important that you take time to actually thoroughly detangle your hair, like these little the little extra hour that you spend detangling. Your hair really can make such a big difference in the long run when you're not in your protective style, because, obviously, once you're here, it's growing from your protective styling you're gon na - want to wear your hear. Just how it is. The most important thing to remember is just not to put too much heat on it. Make sure you've heard that a lot, but it's true so another thing, you're, probably wondering is: how long should I wait in DT relaxers, do you stretch relaxers? Is it best to stretch relaxers do what works best for you? I tried stretching relaxers for, like six months, I've even gone longer shorter. I realized that, especially whenever I was like at the beginning of my hair journey, my hair retained more length when I wasn't stretching my here for as long because whenever you're here is stretched for a long time. That means you're gon na have more new growth, which could lead to more tangling, which leads to more combing, which leads to more manipulation and the more manipulation you put on your hair, the more it breaks now I can stretch for longer just because I know how To take care of my hair, better, that's the beginning, stretching wasn't doing anything for me really at all, and I saw more growth when I just stuck to blasting my hair like every three months, so I mean it depends on you and now people might ask me: Well shown what kind of relaxer do you use? I use just for me, Kim's relaxer, but honestly it does not matter. The ingredient in our relaxers is the same sodium hydroxide. So it really does not matter all. Relaxers have different levels. Relaxing so like just for me. Kids relaxer has like my old regular extra strong other other brands will have like different levels of strength. I just use regular antigens, kids relaxer. Their regular is a little bit less regular than say like what are the other brands. I don't know any other grown-up brand. So doesn't really matter going from brand to brand it. Just matters like within that brand make sure you're not using like extra extra strength relaxer when you have really thin fine, you here so another question I might get asked this well, what products do you use? What'S your regimen, what's your daily routine, don't have a regimen like at all, really um. I do protective styles. I don't manipulate my hair, that's my regimen! So my protective styles, I usually go three months in between and they'll wear my natural hair for like a week. Sometimes not even a week, sometimes I'll just take out the stop put in anyone as far as products go, you can try all these things like dr. Miracle's use different brand to say that they make your hair grow more than other brands. At the end of the day, it's not really gon na grow. You here that much trust me. I tried, with those things, put a lot of Hope into a little bottle and even though I don't have any favorite products that I think have worked to help my hair get this long. My favourite detangler is this Oreste leave in conditioner. I just like it because it's not too watery, you want to start now with putting less manipulation on your hair. You can stop these protect this style and learn how to do them yourself, but even with my long relaxed here, I I am thinking of shaving. It all off and if you want to find out why just stay tuned for my next video, because that's just like a whole nother story and subscribe for more informative videos, tutorials on new protective styles and to just follow up and see. If I actually do you end up shaving off this hair that I've worked so hard to grow, so thank you for watching. You can I'll see you in the next video

Delightful D News & Views: Seun, a woman moving her hands and touching her hair is a sign of femininity in just about every country on earth. Some folks, yes black folks, are uncomfortable seeing a Black woman express her femininity by playing with her hair. Thus you see the myriad of baseless complaints here. These folks want you to portray a "strong" black woman instead of the gorgeous, young lady you are who is having fun and enjoying her hair. They've said everything from it's against the Bible to worship your hair to it being you manipulating your hair and a bunch of other nonsense. You know that most of that is jealousy right? Flip your hair, swing it, shake it, touch it. You grew it and it belongs to you, dear. They dont get mad at Becky for touching her hair every 5 seconds, but it is weird to them to see a Black woman proud of her hair. Don't change who you are for others. You're wonderful just the way you are!

Shawn: She is just expressive and excited about presenting her knowledge. The people complaining probably can’t grow their hair for the fact, that they always focused on things have nothing to do with retaining hair, let alone length. Lol,ironically these same critics go and waste time standing in line, consuming gas to spend tons of money on hair extensions coming from people sacrificing their hair to gods and they complain about the price. If they complained more than they educated themselves about growing hair, this young lady wouldn’t have so many Korean clients as critics.

Ethan Chase: I usually don't watch videos about hair longer than 5 minutes but Seun's personality had me smiling. Such a cute girl and thanks so much for the advice.

I Am Squidzy: People in the comments are hella annoying . Like who cares if she moves her hands a lot. That's just how she talks. She's adorable. LET HER BE ADORABLE!

LifestylewithT: It's crazy that I ran upon this video and everything that your saying is true cause I've figured this out on my own within my 3 years of doing my own hair throughout high school.(on my last year now) and my hair has been growing it's butt off to an unimaginable length. My hair went from damaged and fragile from heat and tight braids to this thick luxuries texture that everyone want and I try to stretch my relaxers for as long as I can go without it!

Sharon Mwangi: I was at shoulder length 2 months ago. Followed your tips and it’s grown 2-3 inches. Just relaxed it and I was shook

Star Beloved: If I had this much hair I would touch it this much too ! Don't apologize

Copper: There are many factors that stunts hair growth. Not eating properly, prescribed medications, illnesses and diseases, stress and your genetics. So it doesn't matter what you put on your hair if your inner health is down it does affects your hair growth and texture too. Eating your fruits and vegetables, oily fish, grass fed meats, drinking water, daily exercise, getting lots of rest, cutting down stress last but not least covering your hair before going to bed and using natural oils that agrees with your hair greatly helps.

NeahBeah: Seun, I had followed one of your crocheting tutorials when I had shoulder length hair and was very happy with my diy results. Since then I have done some pretty extreem things to my hair over the years. Once the damage was done I broke down and got the "big chop". My hair is now long enough for protective styles so I went with box braids by African braiding hands. Needless to say, the first 2 nights I had to sleep on my face because my hair was so tight and everything(even turning my head) hurt so bad. And YAAAS! So far my edges are the first to go and I have not had these braids in for a whole week yet. Had I known then what I know now. I have found you video's to be SUPER informative and educational. This time around I have subscribed and liked/loved. This is only the begining for my hair. I surely don't want it to be end because of these braids. From now on I plan to use the information you have provided to guide me on how to treat my hair as I continue on my journey to growth. Thank you so so much for keeping it real, and for putting in the work to make these videos for us women who take growing and caring for our hair very serious. ❤Much Love and Respect

Akilah Christine: The best informative video on this topic! You broke it down so well, THANK YOU GIRL!! Currently growing out a pixie cut and the struggle is real!

Breezy B: One of the most important things to remember when protective styling is to maintain moisture! Don't be surprised if you keep a sew in for 5 months, take it down, and your hair is falling out like crazy if you never bothered to moisturize underneath

Aleksandar Damjanic: What do you guys want? A stiff video?!! A manequien challenge?

Mindful Michelle: Love this video Seun. I watched your sew in weave video and was able to put one in my hair afterwards for the first time, so thank you for that. Now that I have a working knowledge of how to do a sew in, I'm going to try to do it regularly and see if my hair retains more length or not. I usually have braids and have had success that route so it'll be interesting to see which is better. I'm thinking the weave (but then i have issues at the gym with the leave out when it gets all sweaty). Thanks again

Tiamo: I honestly didn't know that relaxed hair can grow so long and still look amazing. I almost cut mine off thank you for this!!!!! ❤

A. B.: You're a gem! Dark sinned black women represent☺️☺️☺️

mightygoodmagic: This is so cool... Most women I know with relaxed hair don't use protective styles... Very cool new way to approach growing relaxed hair. Mine is natural but if I ever got it straightened, I'd go for this method! And I use protective styles too. Along with Ayurvedic herbs, that's been such a game changer. ☺️

Angela M: Lovely hair. I’m natural but this is similar to how I grew my hair a little bit longer than where I had previously plateaued. As little manipulation as possible! And I quit hair dressers entirely, not just the African braiders. I realized they were all ripping out my hair. I remember cringing as one braider combed my dry hair with a small fine tooth comb. I remember thinking, “this can’t be the right way to handle my hair” but at the same time I trusted the women doing my hair as trained and knowledgeable professionals. Took my while to learn they really don’t care about your hair at all. Especially if you’re natural with 4C. It takes a lot of work and patience to handle natural hair delicately. I learned how to do my own protective styling (mostly braids and wigs) But honestly my hair is sooo much work JUST to wear protective styles 95% of the time. Too much work for me. I totally understand you thinking about shaving your head. Im really considering ending all this insanity and freeing up my life by getting Sisterlocks. My consultation is early next year. Good luck with your hair goals!

ladygodiva32man: Gorgeous hair! Before I decided to go natural I tried to stretch it but the two textures were in a fist fight everyday and my relaxed hair lost and hit the floor. keep doing your thing.

Liz Mwaura: The first year of my hair journey I was over manipulating my hair so when I did my length check it barely even grew I was so my annoyed I hid my hair in braids for a year and treated my hair when removing the style I'm still on my second year of my hair journey and my hair grew sooo much best decision ever stop touching my hair often

Adaline Beauty: Used to have natural hair but had to go relaxed and have been growing myhair out healthy. This video is great.

Tina G: Love it. She's stressing the importance of NOT constantly playing with your relaxed hair while she is constantly play with her relaxed hair. Too cute and too funny

New Naturel: There is a strong link between relaxer and fibroids which is something that's coming in black women. So I'm not with using harsh chemicals on my 4c hair like relaxers and dyes. I'll use heat on my hair like 1-2x a year and I do mostly braids or crochet hair or just put my hair in a bun. My hair is almost 16" long but very thick.

akira lloyd: Also something I realized a lot of people forget is you have to moisturize your scalp when you have those protective styles in . Still go in and put grease or whatever you use

Sharon Harrison: Cloves Painted Canvas, I had a similar experience from a sew in. I have sensitive skin and the stylist put some type of oil mixture on my scalp, braided w-a-y to tight and pulled the stiff netting even tighter. I've had many extensions since and never had a repeat of the problem. Also there are different types of netting available, some softer than others. Also, as Seun stated be sure they do not braid your hair to tight or catch your edges.

Christina: In my opinion, natural hair is so hard to maintain. I've done both in my life. When my hair was relaxed, it was always, short, dry, damaged, thin and brittle. When My hair was natural, it grew so fast and was so long. I had little to no breakage. It was thick and healthy and I loved it, but for me, personalty it was just too difficult for me to maintain. I'm thinking about cutting mine too, I accidentally used a stronger relaxer on my hair and a lot of it came out leaving my crown very short and the rest of hair different lengths; (some long, some shorter. ) I'm still debating exactly what I want to do. I wish there was some sort of happy medium. Years ago all I wore was weave, because I didn't have to do much to it. Just mainly get up and go, but I've been exploring other options. My hair is naturally dry so that is one of the biggest problems for me. I know I am supposed to oil moisturize and condition daily, but even that sometimes begins to be a bit too much.

dale underdue: Hi Seun My hair, after many years of ignorance and being permed, broke and shedded like crazy. Didn't know how to properly care for my hair. Now I'm naturally organic and have received great results with the LOC method. Low manipulation and protective styles. Went back old school from my mother & Gmom's way of hair care. Not a product junkie either. I just use what works for my hair. Thanks for teaching your fam!

Mary J Flanagan: My twa regimen is to wash and oil scalp, pick or braid out my hair. I wear a baseball cap at work. I dkeep my hair clean and moisturized. Once every 5 weeks, I flatiron it for straight length check. It's long enough to wrap it. I'm looking forward to curling it before work. Thanks for sharing!

RGLover641: Thanks for this!! You are a natural!! Straight to the point and explain it perfectly!! Would love more vids on protective styles!!! <3

illget animated!: Very nicely done video. Had a friend do my relaxer who insisted on pulling it thru 3x even with me saying "Ok, don't pull it thru on already relaxed hair!" Next, decided 2 do my own JUST 4 ME relaxer & didn't want 2 leave it in 2 long. So now I have nappy roots, overly straight rest of the hair, hair snapping off mid-way the length, losing hair even when I sneeze-I just want 2 run away! BUT... age makes a difference 2. Wen I was your age my harmonies were still alive, wouldn't miss a day of taking my vitamins. Got on Collagen 3 weeks ago & made an appt @ a salon 4 nxt week-prayers please... ❤

Januckery: The best hair grower for me was being pregnant back to back with my two daughters. I guess all the extra blood and prenatal vitamins really boosted my growth. I also wasn't getting many relaxers while I was pregnant and either wore my hair up in a high bun because I was just too friggin' hot to deal with it touching me, or got a sew in to keep from using so much heat in my real hair. I didn't even notice how long it had gotten until everyone kept saying "Wow your hair has gotten really long!" I also did one or two sew ins after having my daughters so they really did work as protective styles for me. The key is, like she said, making sure they are installed and taken down properly. If the braids are too tight you can wind up losing hair. Luckily for me, I noticed more growth when I took my sew ins out. I try to stay away from heat as much as possible with relaxed hair since, like she said, relaxing your hair makes it weaker in general. I deep condition, wash every other week with a phospahate free shampoo to prevent product build up, and use a nice argan oil on my ends as well as keep my scalp nice and oiled. I also don't get very many relaxers. I get a relaxer maybe once every 3 or 4 months. Everyone's hair is different, but I find that alot of what she said holds true for me. A healthy diet and vitamin and water intake also effects your hair greatly which is another reason why I think my hair grew so much when I was pregnant. I ate really healthy fresh foods, drank a lot of water, took my vitamins and worked out. I also trim my ends regularly. I think all that combined with the protective styles really helped my hair grow and it's still growing. It is mid back past my shoulder blades and I hope it continues to grow.

Lorena Powers: Seun please do not stop being yourself, move your HANDS, even more, you are beautiful!

Fezile Gabellah: Hey Seun, this was really awesome advice, thank you. ❤

Momma Bear: I perm my hair every 4 months! One side of my head was shaved, brush only, and 2 years later, it's right above my bra strap! I do love how my hubby and son react to the length!

Forever Newlywed: Loving your hair journey! Thanks for the tips. I'm not mixed race but I have a nice grade of hair and I enjoy protective styling (which until watching your video, I did not realize was a thing lol) because it's less work! You're a lovely young lady and much success to you.

Spiritually Young: Yes! I've been telling the young ladies in my family to stop going to the African hair braiders. Their little edges are falling out with the braids. I'm talking from experience. I've had to work hard to get my edges back after getting micro-braids and box braids for years. I love all of ORS products. Hair goals. I'm hoping that my regimine gets me to where you are by this time 2021

OrganizedTanglz: Thanks for your perspective! I am planning to relax yearly because after being natural 3 times I noticed growth with stretching/transitioning.

Applehead Gal: She can move her hands as much as she wants. The 'do nothing' people are criticizing someone that is a 'Doer/ Doing Something!'

Csb1289: I'm happy people are also making videos about healthy relaxed hair. Relaxed=/=unhealthy!!! i've been natural for a year and I still believe this. Your hair is beautiful btw!

lorettalynn Davis: You are absolutely stunning baby girl. Thanks for all the hair advice and telling the *truth about what a relaxer really does to the hair!*

KisforKIM: Taking these tips into consideration, I can see a difference! Thank you!

Paper Mario: You are so right. I put keratin treatments in my hair, and if I let my new growth go to long, I end up with a tangled mess that breaks off because of the fragile point where the natural meets the keratin.

Marissa_1978_: I totally agree!! Relaxed hair can grow!! ❤️

Sadé Anthony: This is exactly what I want my hair to look like

rainah smith: ive been natural for 9 months and permed it it is almost to my shoulders but now i have to really make sure i keep up with my hair watching all these youtube videos

Beyond Carlie: See, I have relaxed hair and its been at my shoulders for the LONGEST and the thing is I don't wear weaves so when its comes to protective styles I'm doing twists or box braids. Your hair is so beautiful if my hair was that length nobody could tell me ANYTHINGGGGG. I stopped perming my hair every 3 months and started stretching cause I seen a difference at one point, but I've obviously haven't got anywhere but that little length that I'm pretty sure broke off but anywaaaays ..thanks for the tips !

TJ Pont: My hair was longer than yours and i shaved it off. I had shoulder surgery and was awaiting neck surgery. So I physically couldn’t care for it and it was getting tangled. At the time I was natural. Now I’m relaxed. But my point is.....our hair will grow back!!! So if you feel like cutting just go for it. You know what to do to keep it healthy and strong and when you want it long again you know how to care for your hair. Best of luck. I enjoyed your video.

pretty huis: When i was relaxed i used to love weaves. My hair would grow like crazy. Then i fell into these micro braids. It went from great to dead. Now im natural and its been working good. I stopped using all these expensive and many steps. I stick to a very simple rotune

TikkyShack: I agree with everything you’ve said . I found out late too, but thank god, I can work on my daughter’s hair. I also love olive oil products.

C Love Beauty: I just got my first Sew in "professionally"for the first time in March... I couldnt WAIT to take it out! I used RAW hair had a closure as well. I also used a net. My braids were FAR from tight. I got a deep conditioning and trim before the braids were done & washed my sew-in every 2 weeks. I HATED my first weave experience. Why? I took my sew-in out after 1 month and a week. I tried to wait the full 2 months but just couldnt. It itched and I had so much shedding and breakage and swollen sores in my scalp after the takedown. I have coarse kinky thick healthy hair and to see the thin limp breakage was horrid. So now, im nursing it back to health with Castor oil and Amla oil & crochet braids(luv these). I believe the breakage & sores came from scratching the net onto my scalp. I almost forbid sew-ins after that experience but... Im ginna try again cause I did have some growth. Next time... im doing it myself and NO NET!

Jahlauryn Nicole: Great Tips , New Subbiee and lord knows that it's hard to find good advice and tips for us " relaxed hair " girls I really hope you stay relaxed and have a successful hair journey

Subae: I’m soooo happy I found your video again !!! Iv been natural for a few years now and I realized that I missed my relaxed hair .

BEYOND ME: I think there's something to say about "just for me" relaxer I use the texturizer and its the longest my hair has ever been.

Maristarnl Alom: You are totally right,I have a very long relaxed hair and  do my relaxing every six months or even more. I comb my hair  once a day and start doing it by the end and work my way up ( comb with separated teeth ). When I go to sleep I moisturize my hair, make two braids  and use a silk cap.  And of course a good shampoo and conditioner ( intense hydration ) . That's it. I have seen girls on the street who are always touching their hair or using a comb, WRONG ! Just leave it and you will see the results :-)

notyouraveragej: Omg omg thank you soooo much like I honestly struggle and often get sad about my hair length and how I’m so different from some others hair and I rly get stressed about how short my hair is because my hair length is the only thing I wish I could change faster but ik it takes time and this video rly gave me inspiration and changed my mood from a sad to humble mood.☺️

Snow bunny Elite: Finally a real black person. I kept getting biracials. I'm not biracial,so feel their tips won't help me.

FeliciaB: Genetics help too. Everyone’s hair grows but not at same rate or thickness. I spent too much of my life worrying about length. Now it’s about is my scalp healthy? With that comes healthy hair, long or short, your a Queen

Trieva TheDiva: I appreciate you sharing what worked for you. I am natural and wish every Black woman would stop "Giving up stronger hair for straight hair". But, I know they won't so, again thank you for sharing what worked so that others can have back length chemically processed hair!

Errin Jones: You are absolutely STUNNING. My hair hair was as long as yours when I was a child but fell off when my my mother started giving me relaxers and sending me to the hair salon every two weeks to get it straightened. As an adult I never understood why my hair was so long then but would never grow past my neck now lol. then I remembered why.. I didn't do anything to it as a child. I literally wore the same four braids and two braided hairstyles with bow bows and barrettes that every black girl wears during her childhood lol. I agree that our biggest problem is manipulating our hair too much. The easiest and quickest way to get our hair to grow is by putting it in 4 plattes w/o added hair, leaving them in for 2 weeks at a time and making sure we moisturize them often. But who am I kidding I am not walking around like that

Alien Girl: Thanks for the tips Seun if you ever see this, you have a beautiful personality and my goal is classical length idc if people think it’s too much I want it so bad

Belinda Darko: Great and inspiring video! Thanks for sharing please may I ask how long it took for you to get this length?

Seun Okimi: Sorry for moving my hands so much in this video!! I didn't realize it until you guys pointed it out, but now I know, and will be better in the future. Thanks! <3

Daphne Smith: There is a difference in relaxers. Some box relaxers have calcium hydroxide instead of sodium hydroxide. Calcium can build up and make you hair dry. Need to use a chelating or swimmers shampoo to take the build up out then use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Been a hairstylist for Thirty years plus. And yes relaxed hair can and will grow. Enjoy your journey...

Erika Lewis: This is a great video! I think it is educational and definitely informative.

Shannon 777: So, i went from braids for 3 yrs, after i did the big chop. The braids made my hair grow and it was (and i stress "was") super thick, but thinned out my edges. I got a perm on virgin hair, but believe the stylist over processed my hair. Soooo, im doing the rice water to regain the edges and thickness. After seeing your relaxed hair, i see there is hope! i hope i have the same outcome!!!

S R: I love your videos. Do you have a video explaining how far you go in between relaxers, how you maintain your hair during the transition period, and what your relaxer/wash routine is?

Jessie: This video was so genuine and candid. By far the best hair video I've seen so far.

g4br13ll4.08: Who else is searching the whole internet trying to get long hair because you cut it really short and now you regret it? I know I am!

Kenya Woods: Very I formative video! This is coming from a good place. Touching your hair a lot also cause breakage. I have a real nice length to my hair as well. And am relaxed girl and I’ve notice the less I do and the less I manipulate my hair is the best results I see!

Its Keriaa: I just wanted to share this . I've been relaxed since my middle school years and also long hair is in my family genes . Sooo just this year of 2017 i got my first sew in. With that sew in i grew like 6 inches of hair . And like i was so amazed lol and i heard also that stretching relaxers also makes your hair grow? So my only choices is stretching my relaxers and doing protective styles for hair growth‍♀️ but i'm a new SUBBIE girl!!

L: Great advice. How do you care for your hair when you wear protective styles? Do you moisturize your hair or do you leave it alone? Which deep conditioner do you use? Do you self relax? When you wear your own hair, do you moisturize it daily? If yes, what do you use? (Just subscribed)

Giggles: Thank you for mentioning the danger in going to African Braiding salons. They are not your friend and they rip your hair out...leading to more set backs. I wish we had a list of people who do great sew ins and more personal testimonials. Hard to find a hairdresser you can trust.

Monique Adam: Please don't shave it off! Really, though do your thing. You are beautiful. Thanks for the tips. My last relaxer was at the beginning of 2013. I'm thinking about going back to relaxing. I have a harder time maintaining my natural hair, but I've learned a lot about my hair. All that you've mentioned applies to both natural and relaxed hair.

QwazyCloutFam _: Me:Looks at her hair Also Me:Thinks About My Hair

Gail Becker: Seun, every five years, I used to cut my hair very short too because it looked healthier while growing it out again. After about five years wearing permanent relaxers, my hair started looking dull and dry, even using the relaxers with no lye. So, I would do a big chop at the end of every five years and start over. However, my life headed in a new direction and although I was born and raised in the church, I wanted to get closer to God, learn more about Jesus and study the Bible on a deeper level. I was also taught about Mary using her hair to dry Jesus' feet too (Luke 7:38 and John 12:3). At that time I was young and didn't care about another woman from ancient history using her hair to dry Jesus' feet. I did not understand what was the big deal. I started having dreams, premonitions, and visions that would come true. Then, I met a Rabbi who started telling me about my gifts and talents and that God was conditioning me for His plans. Moreover, I started fasting again and meditating to God for clarity and proper deciphering of the Bible. I learned that it is disgraceful for a woman to cut off her hair (1 Corinthians 11:6). Then, as a Social Science teacher, I ended up teaching International Baccalaureate Comparative Politics and Advanced Placement World History, which required extensive research into all five major religions of the world and discovered that in some countries, women are forbidden to cut their hair short for that reason. For those women who did, for whatever reason that was accepted, they had to keep their heads covered. Then I moved and joined a new church that I really loved, and the pastor also gave a sermon on the hair being a woman's glory and that we should not cut off our hair (1 Corinthians 11:15), but we are allowed only to trim the dead ends to keep the hair healthy. So, I stopped cutting my hair short, but I do keep it trimmed.

30deblanc: Don’t shave it off it’s beautiful and makes you look like the beauty you are. I never understood why females work so hard to grow their tresses just to cut it all off. Females forget that the older we get the slower our hair grows, hence short old ladies. They also forget about the menopausal state that we all must go through. Yes, for each one of us ladies things will be slightly different including our hair. The texture may or may not change, our hair may or may not fall out, etc. Anyway do what you want (that’s the freedom of life lol), just my words of expression.

Kyra Storm: Beautiful! You are so beautiful and your care has paid off! Don’t let the haters steal your joy by their whiney nit picking

Stephanie Pink: I love all your videos. Great teacher!!

Elle Gee: Thank you so much for your honesty. I totally agree all relaxers are the same some people like to justify the new ones because of the 'brand'.
