Hey guys welcome back to my bathroom. My name is brittany, i'm a real hairdresser, but today i'm going to show you how to do your own long layers in your bathroom by yourself. This is super simple. You cannot screw this up if you're new here be sure to like subscribe unsubscribe just like who cares, i post new cheap tricks for you every single week to get started. You do need some hair, some scissors or shears, i'm using some joel scissors shears, whatever these are discontinued, but i'll put a dupe below that's under 10 on amazon that i have used and those work perfectly fine do not be discouraged if all you have is crafting Shears or dollar tree scissors, those will work fine because we can clean this up also does not matter your hair type or texture or if you're cutting it wet or dry. I'M going to be cutting mine semi-wet today, so you are going to be making a horseshoe parting you're, going to start this in about the middle of your brow like so match it. On the other side, the middle of your brow like so then we're just going to connect the back. What you section off in this top here, what the hell got to be in tip top shape is going to be your layer. So all of this bottom, this is going to be our length, put the rest of this in a ponytail. We do not want to cut this at all if you need a tutorial on how to cut a basic one length before you get this started. I have a video i'll put up here. It'S super simple as well. Okay, sorry, my dog won't stop barking. So sorry about the background, noise, okay, so to get started with this you're gon na want to take this down and we're gon na be over directing or combing this forward towards our face. You want to make sure that all of this is really smooth. So no tangles, no rats etc. So if you have a fine-tooth comb to go through and make sure all this, ah is even when we cut these, we want to choose a reference point on our face. This is going to be where our shortest layer is going to lay, but remember if you're cutting this wet or if you have extremely curly, hair or thick hair, that this is going to shrink up when it's dry. So just because you cut it at your lip. Does not mean it will rest at your lip when you dry it. It may actually be at your nose, so i would always err on the side of caution and cut it a little bit longer. Just in case you can avoid being mad at yourself. We'Re going to be taking all of this together now we're going to cut this in one big section. If you have super thick hair, don't worry you're going to have to hack at this a little bit it's going to be fine, we're going to clean it up at the end. So don't worry about all these like jaggedy or blunt edges. Don'T worry about that now when we cut this, we're not cutting it out here, we're cutting it on our face. If you cut it way out here, even though it's going to be easier for you to see or look at it's going to change the direction of the hair which, in return changes the whole haircut, probably won't. Look that stellar, to be honest, so make sure the hair is resting against your face. We'Re also going to be taking all of this and meeting it in the middle. So what i mean by that is we're not cutting this straight down like this. We need to over direct the hair towards the middle when we cut this and release this. This makes this long short going to long so when we flip it over this way, it's short gradually going to long when it lays down. So, let's get started, don't worry like i said you cannot screw this up. You will be fine comb, all the hair directly in the middle of my face, making sure i'm over directing everything towards the middle holding it really really tight. Taking some crab claws, little pinchers putting them in and holding it against my face, we're finding a reference point on our face. For me, i'm going to use probably the bottom of my lip, so it's not taking much off but again i'd. Rather, you do this three times then start cutting up here and then i don't really know if you started up here. That would be pretty scary, for you mermaid look, i mean i'm sure. Actually, that would probably be like a mullet, and that would be. We could do that one day, not today, i'm not going to show you how to cut a mullet today, i'm not um, i'm not in that part of my quarantine yet to have a mullet but we're getting there crab claws in reference point and you can cut This straight across, but i'm going to be point cutting this and i'm actually going to be point cutting this at a diagonal. In a lot of my videos, i talk about point, cutting going straight up and down and that's to kind of feather it out. But if you want to change the shape or take out weight, you cut at a diagonal. This also kind of feathers it and changes the shape at the same time. So i'm going to be using that technique today. So here we go taking it and snip snip snip snip. So you can see it's not a straight blunt line, it's a textured line. So when you release it this way, it's short a little bit going too long, and if you take it out this way or over direct it out this way vertically, you can see that the layer is shorter, gradually going to longer. So when you lay it down, it's short with a slight angle, to kind of marry this all together, here's the layer and here's the length, so you can see the layer. Isn'T too short! So that's why i was saying like we don't want to start cutting right here, maybe start below your chin or on your lower lip like. I did, because you don't want layers to be very, very short unless that's to look like that, mullet-esque. Look that you're going for not something i'm going for today, but ask me in three weeks: we may be doing it so here we have it. I just did a quick like flat iron curl on it, but it makes my hair look a lot thicker and helps it lay better without having that mushroom-ish effect. If you will, you need a haircut if you tried this, let me know in the comment box below or if you have any questions, just drop them below also and make sure you like, subscribe, unsubscribe dislike. Who cares? I post new cheap tricks for you every single week. I will see you next week for something cool. You
