Steps:

1. Pull a small section of braiding fiber away from the braid.

2. Wrap this piece around the braid where it will be sealed.

3. Hold the remainder of the piece to the side and apply heat using the corner of your flat iron.

4. Wiggle the excess fiber until it pulls away easily.

5. Roll the bond into place to secure and smooth the seal.

If you are looking for an alternative to rubber bands to bind your ends, and you have used a heat, seal-able fiber like a kanekalon, you can use your flat iron to seal the ends of your braids.. Let'S take a look at how that is done.. The first step is to take the braiding fiber and pull a small section away.. We are going to loop this around the end of the braid 5-6 times. Hold that out of the way, and we are going to use the flat iron to create our seal right. There. Using the corner of the flat iron give it a little pinch. Once you have it in place, hold that and wiggle the end of your extra fiber.. You want that to pull away. Once it melts a little bit. It will come right. Off. Give it a little bit of a roll to smooth out the edges, and you have created your first seal.

Treen: Best tutorial I've seen on this yet. Short and sweet. Thank you for sharing!

Priscilla Lopez: Thanks for sharing this info....I've dipped my daughter's and my braids in boiling water everyday and it's still not sealing. I will definitely try this. I was about to go 80's with the lighter or rubber band them. Lol

VirAmicusSpaceTime: This is so great. I love doctored locks and have been using your UV braided hair for a few years now. I just recently got my braids done and I told them I wanted it shorter and somehow it turned out much longer than I really wanted so now really want to cut then and have been searching all over for some better way than burning and even the flat iron methods I have seen no one really came close to the regular burning method but finally this flat iron method is truth! So now gonna have to get a flat iron for this. What kind or what temperature flat iron should I seek as I don't ...nor have I ever used one and would not know where to begin! Thanks for the wonderful video and all your wonderful products ...I am currently using: Nymph Color Melt, Toxic Candy Color Melt, Peacock Color Melt and Lucky.

G Kim: Thank you. Do you typically seal the entire braid as well to help it keep so flyaways don't come out. I'm making dreadlocks and braids to mix together in my hair. I sealed the entire braid with a flat iron but it just looks flat now and unnatural. Would the boiling method work or do you have any other suggestions?

AKIYIAKELLY: Wow I never thought to wrap the extra hair around. I Always tie it off. Great info.

I am DivaNicole: And all this time I've been using a lighter. I need a cheap flat iron for this though. No way I'm using my CHI for this.

Celene Linton: What temperature was the flat iron?

Quri King: I feel like a big fool for using a lighter first time I did box braids on my daughter. I just remember my mom doing it that way (and with hot water) when I was a kid. This came out soooo much better.

Taylor Chaise: Yesss.! Putting it in hot water didn't seal that much
