Okay, let's talk about some irons and if you've followed my channel for any amount of time, you've seen that i've talked about a handful of irons. I'Ve done a couple comparisons and i definitely have a couple that i like, but with that said, i wanted to take a second to compare three different irons from three different price points and help you understand which one may be right for you. Do you need all the extra features of the more expensive irons, or are you completely good, with spending a little bit less and getting an iron that will be more than capable for your specific need? I'M going to compare a few different irons, i'm going to compare the infrashine. I'Ve used this for probably 15 years in the salon and i'll tell you it's been a fantastic tool for me. We'Re also going to cover an iron. That'S a little bit newer on the market. This is the steam pod from l'oreal. It has some very unique features that the other irons we're talking about do not have, and then we have the dyson corral. This is the only cordless iron. This is definitely the most expensive and it has a host of features as well that i absolutely love about it that none of the other irons contain. So with that said, let's dive into the difference between these and which one you need now, if you're new to the channel just back up, my name is justin hickox. Thank you. First of all for hanging out uh i've been doing hair for a couple of decades. Now and what i do on this channel is, i share hair tips. I hopefully make your hair life a little bit easier. I also teach people how to cut and color their hair by themselves at home. So if you want more information about that, i've got links in the description where you can find out more okay. So let's talk about features and functionality. What are the difference in the features in these three irons? So, first of all, starting with the infrashine or you can get this iron for about 150. It'S definitely the cheapest in this particular list. These plates are 100 ceramic. Okay, that's a big deal. Many plates are coated ceramic and that does not distribute heat nearly as evenly having heat distributed evenly across the plate is a massive part of how the actual iron functions. It basically dictates everything about how efficient the iron is, and that plays a huge role in how damaging or not damaging the iron is so having fully ceramic plates versus coated plates is a big win for sure this one does also have a swiveling cord right, which I like because it does actually make it easier when you're trying to add wave to your hair. So while that doesn't seem like a lot, that is actually a pretty big deal in terms of convenience. So there this one has three different temperatures. You have 260 degrees. You have 340 degrees and 400 degrees, all in all, it's not heavily packed with a ton of features. It'S also the least expensive iron that we're talking about. So it kind of makes sense. It basically does what it needs to do not a whole lot more. Okay, moving on to the steam pod now this is 250 dollars. If you buy it through, l'oreal is the only iron in the setup that actually uses steam. If you look on here, there's two companies there's l'oreal professional, which is l'oreal. Obviously the company that created this, but then there's another company right here, which is rowenta. They have an incredible reputation in the steam game. I do love the fact that l'oreal didn't just in-house determine how this steam functionality is gon na work, but they partnered with one of the leading companies in that industry and said: hey come on over and let's figure this out together. I also know that this lets off a very specific amount of steam, 0.8 grams per minute, to be precise, and i know l'oreal well enough to know that 0.8 grams wasn't a random number. They came up with so there is a little bit more science behind this than simply hey look. Our iron throws steam at your hair, right, which personally i love. I also love the way they engineered this. I said this a second ago that it might be the weak spot potentially on this iron, but with that said, it's also extremely easy to fill this up with water, and it just makes it really simple to use now one of these pods as it's filled, they Say can work on about two normal heads of hair or one very thick head hair. So it's not like you can be filling it up all the time, but then, when you want to go put it back, you just simply put this back in and then click that down and you're good to go. This also has a swiveling cord, one of the key differences that i see in this that i haven't seen in a lot of other irons. Is this comb? So i like that this is here, but i also like the fact that it can be easily removed and when you remove it, you don't have to deal with it, but it's also easy to replace these plates are also very evenly heated. It'S an anodized coating. Now these plates are checked for their heat about two times every second, so there's three heat settings in this as well. Now, that's all indicated on this little lcd screen right here that for me i kind of like the lcd stuff. I don't know what makes that feel like it's more expensive, but they say that adding the steam to this element actually smooths hair out two times smoother two times faster and 78 less damage. Now, with that said, there's a big asterisk here and that's because that is compared to this same iron, not using the steam. So adding that steam element is what is creating those results, not just the overall iron itself. Moving on to the dyson, this is a 499 dollar item, so it obviously is the most expensive of these three, but we expect this to have more functionality. This is hands down, like i said, twice: the cost of the steam pod and almost four times the cost of the infrashine, so it should have more functionality and it does starting off. There'S no cord to me. That'S a really big deal, but with that said, if you do want to use a cord, there is a cord that you can attach here. You can always connect that cord back up and i have a corded iron that lasts a little bit longer. It also is the only iron that actually has completely bendable moldable plates, because these plates actually mold around the hair in the center. It helps to keep that hair in the center of the iron. I will say that i actually like the way this comb combs through the tangles and keeps the hair straight as well as keeping it in line, whereas the dyson corral doesn't do that. With that said, the dyson corral is monitoring this temperature of these plates a hundred times every second, not two, and because of that, cocoon that it's kind of creating it's making sure that every single hair is exactly the same temperature, which adds a little bit of the Efficiency with it, which means the damage control, is there now this one has three different temperatures as well: 330, 365 and 410. This also has like we talked about before the fly safe thing here, so to me that convenience is nice as well. I also like that. This locks seems like a small thing, but if you've ever tried to pack away a hot iron having this being able to lock like this, is going to minimize the ability of this to ruin whatever you're wrapping it in or putting it next to when it's still Hot from being 400 degrees, so let's see which one heats up the fastest, i'm going to turn them all on and i'm going to heat them up to their hottest temperature all around 400 to 410 degrees and we'll see how long they take okay. So, let's start with the dyson here, so i'm just going to go ahead and start it. Let'S see how long that takes and we're good at about 41 seconds about 40 seconds, or so probably, let's try this okay and turn that on so we're at about 55 seconds 57 seconds and we're in there and then let's move over to the steam pond and See we're at with that and we're just under a minute or about a minute before that heated up, so in that the dyson was definitely the quickest by roughly 20 seconds. Now, let's jump into the meat of this all. I need to use these on straight hair and see really how they work. We need to know right if there's just a way that there is. I got you actually you come with me. Okay, i don't think this is gon na go over well, but yeah we'll find out hey babe um, so i'm filming a video for youtube right now and i need your help. Okay, um, it's gon na be really easy. I just need you to simply jump in the shower shampoo. Your hair uh jump out of the shower dry. It don't put any products in it like i said, easy, okay and then i need you to take a flat iron and flat iron watch out kevin flat iron, your hair, that's not a problem right, no, okay, um! Then i need you to jump back in the shower. I need you to wet your hair down. I need you to re-dry it, and then i need you to do the exact same thing with another iron, just twice, okay, after that, i need you to get back in the shower. I need you to shampoo your hair dry it and then do the exact same thing with a third iron. It'S not even technically my hair washing day, like i said it's gon na be easy right, you're cool with that. Do you know how much i can do that you know how much i hate drying my hair, but yes for you babe. I will as long as you make me dinner, burgers burgers. Yes, okay, so, like a plan, sounds like a plan, okay, so here's what we're going to do, what i've got we're going to start you out with the infrashine. So this is the infrashine iron and then what all i want you to do is go through your hair and flat iron. It the way you would typically flat iron it. Okay, i'm going to time it to see how long it takes. Okay, obviously she's already got straight hair, but she's still gon na go through and polish it off. So it still gives us an idea of from start to finish how long it takes for her to do her specific hair. It might take you a little bit longer to do yours depending how much wave there is. What i want you to do is just pay attention to how it feels, if there's anything that you notice, while you're going through it just the ergonomics, the heaviness on certain areas, anything about it, just kind of log that mentally and we'll talk about it. At the end, all right, so let me get the timer started and go ahead and start okay, so now we're at round two. This is going to be the steam pod ready so hold on a second we'll get. This started go okay and now we're moving on to the dyson and go okay. So what did you think? Did you notice any difference between any of them, so the first one that i used, i noticed how lightweight it was. Okay, did that seem easier to you? Um i like that it was lightweight yeah um, so because it seemed really easy in my hands: um the middle one, the steam one um honestly, was a little confusing at first because it had the little combs, and so you could only hold it one way, um. So i had to keep looking so that was kind of like ah and then the last one, the dyson. I think they probably got the best results. It'S a little bit on the heavy side compared to the what is it an infrashine um? So it's more weighty, but i felt like i was able to go through more hair easily um than than the other two okay. So she is correct, actually um the dyson. Actually, after speaking to the dyson design team that actually built the corel one of the things they told me was that the dyson - actually, you can take larger sections because of the way it's created, you take larger sections and it actually still is very efficient. So that surprised me so you're dead on that you can take bigger sections with it. Um the. On the other hand, the steam pod is great, but actually you're supposed to take a little bit thinner sections to get it to work efficiently. So that is a thing that is something that you picked up on that may or may not change your decision on which one you want to go with just due to time yeah, i think once you get past the comb and learn how to use it, it'll Be a lot quicker also knowing that you can remove the comb, but that's up to you. You might not want to remove the comb at which point you would have to get used to using it um. But with that said, you are still going to be taking a little bit smaller sections, so part of that is just the size of the section that you take, but you go over this section one time and it was done. Did you notice that? Yes, okay? So what's the conclusion who are these irons actually for and which one, more importantly, is right for you now, obviously that wasn't a super technical test. I fully get it, but it does give you kind of an idea of some real world situation and what the differences are and if you looked at them i'd like i didn't notice a massive difference in the end result. I think these are irons that are going to take more time of you using on a day-to-day basis to really see the benefits of the health aspect of it. So if you're a type of person that maybe you're a little bit more budget, conscious or maybe you aren't really concerned about your overall hair health - that's not the top priority. Your hair is in pretty good condition. You just want an iron. That functions maybe lacks all the bills and whistles, but at the same time will be a workhorse will straighten your hair, and you know you want something simple. Then the infrashine has been an absolute workhorse for me. I think it's a great iron and i would recommend it to anyone in that situation. Now, at the other side, though, if you're feeling like you, want a little bit more control over your hair's health, maybe that's a little bit more concern to you and you're willing to spend a little bit more money. Maybe you want the extra bells and whistles. Maybe you want to make sure that it's a little bit more efficient, because it has something like this comb to help you kind of manage your hair section. Well, in that scenario, the steam pod is going to be a fantastic iron. It'S going to be obviously a little bit more more expensive, but with that said, there are a lot of benefits to it and if hair health is a concern to you, then this would be a incredible option for you now, if you're the type of person that Money is really not the worry or you want the absolute top end. You are super concerned with your hair texture and your hair health and, more importantly, you want every bit of technology. You can possibly pack into an iron meaning cordless right ability to travel on the actual airplane. With you that kind of stuff, then your option really is the corral by dyson it's just a fantastic iron like i said it's obviously the most expensive in this grouping, but you're definitely getting your 500 worth. I believe you actually get every pennies worth so for me, i think the important question to ask yourself is: what do you need out of an iron and are you willing to spend the extra money to get it and, if so, well these are some really solid Options for you, but i hope that helped - and you know where i'm at, if you have any questions about it, otherwise, right now. What i need to do is watch this video right here because well, like i always say, you're going to support the channel. But more importantly, you're going to learn some cool stuff for sure some cool stuff, because that's all i teach is cool stuff, you're gon na learn some stuff. So go watch that right now and otherwise i appreciate you hanging out make sure you hit that subscribe. Button hit the notification bell, so you get notified every tuesday when i bring out a brand new video and speaking of tuesdays, we'll see you next tuesday. All right have a good one. Bye,

Justin Hickox: Which one would work best for you? I’m super curious! And....links to them all are in the description!

Amanda Fisher: In an attempt to compromise between heat damage and straightening my hair, I air dry my hair and using the previous model of the steam pod you were testing, set it to a lower temperature than my one heat GHD straighteners. Since having the steam pod I have stopped using the GHD completely. The steam and comb combination with the hot iron plates leaves my hair super straight, shiny and manageable for days. This is a win for me, my hair is a similar length to your wife’s hair, although my hair is a little frizzy before using the steam pod. Thanks another great review.

Susan From The Mountains: I personally saw her hair looked best with the steam pod. The second iron. Definitely, I would go with the steam iron. I enjoyed this video. Thanks! Everything was so thorough and informative.

Riri Vespertine: I have both the Dyson and Steampod. I have a bias towards the steampod because I have curly hair and lives in a humid country. It really helps with the frizz and I wash my hair 1-2 times a week. Dyson on the other hand, made my hair super nice too and it curls better than my steampod. I love them both that I gave up my Glampalm and GHD. ❤️

Stacie Heroux: Just came across this video and wanted to add my input based on personal use of the Dyson and Steampod. I have shoulder length fine hair, but medium density and a slightly wavy texture. I got the Dyson first bc I wasn't sure about the steam making my hair “damp” which would then make it frizz up later. I actually hated the Dyson and I wanted to love it bc of the damage technology and being cordless etc... But, the Dyson made my hair feel crispy and it didn't smooth out the ends very well and actually made my hair feel very damaged and not as shiny as with an inexpensive straightener. I returned it after a couple washes giving it a few chances to change my mind. I bought the Steampod and I can tell you that it is hands down the best straightener I've ever had. It leaves the hair smooth and silky and really feels like it's not as damaging to the hair. It really makes the hair feel sleek and look so shiny and I get tons of compliments when I use it. I was wrong about the steam making the hair damp...it doesn't leave it damp at all and the results last for a few days. With the Dyson, my hair felt so damaged and dry, I had the give my hair a wash and deep condition after the second day or it felt horribly crunchy. I don’t use a straightener every time I style my hair, but honestly this one (the steampod) I think you could if you wanted to bc it makes my hair feel healthier. I don't know why it's so good but best one I've ever used. Just thought I would throw my opinion in here since I've used almost everything out there :) Thanks for your video Justin. I would have never washed, dried, and straightened my hair 3 times back to back. Your wife is a sweetie.

Joann Vu: I love my steam pod and I use distilled water. I get a lot of compliments when I use it and I notice less breakage on my hair.

Gigi KC: so... since i’m growing out my grey (salt and pepper) hair, i’m more concerned with keeping my hair in perfect health and condition and i purchased the dyson as soon as it came out and LOVE LOVE LOVE it, so easy and fast and hair looks shiny

Nancy Taylor: I am with your wife! I hate drying my hair! It takes forever! But, I LOVE having my hair done. I should have married a hair stylist!

Jude Harley: If you join a dyson hair group you find that the air wrap and the coralle are always getting sent back for faults. I absolutely love the hairdryer but I’m not paying that kind of money to send it back for faults. Their customer service is great but soooo much hassle

Sabsa 70: Love seeing you with your wife! Thanks to you, Justin for this video and Dionna for washing her hair 3 times . Take care and stay healthy!!! Hugs and kisses Sabine

Linda: So I have lots of wavy/curly hair and I swear by the L’Oréal steampod. I drew black arrows on it with a sharpie (their arrows not easy to see) so that keeps me going in the right direction easily. I section my hair and move it slowly through. It straightens like a dream and lasts for days (unless I get caught in rainy weather then all I need is a quick run through the top section with my GHD’s -very good/popular straightener in the UK). I love the steampod and still have the original with the separate water tank which I have kept as a back up. A friend commented on how good the condition of my hair is considering I must straighten the life out of it daily…oh no, I told her…I only use my steampod on hair washing day cos it lasts til next wash! Love your videos Justin ♥️

Severinsen: I actually have the Steam Pod 1.0, and I've used it for maybe 10 years. Since it's so big and is getting old, I'm getting a new one. I have 3C curls, so I need an iron that is efficient, gentle and fights frizz. I spend maybe 1 hour doing my hair. Your wife has much straighter hair than me, and doesn't necessarily have the same priorities as me. From everything I've seen so far, I think I'm buying the new Steam Pod. It just seems to give a much smoother result and keep the frizz at bay more efficiently. If the Dyson one had steam as well, then _MAYBE_ I would shell out the extra for that one.

Debbie Sutton: Thank you for another helpful video. I purchased the Dyson after I viewed your dedicated video on that and am very happy with it. I read in New Beauty magazine about the Babyliss Pro CryoCare Cold Brush and would love your thoughts on it. Greetings from Indianapolis!

Lori: Justin...your timing!!!!! I keep pondering on the Dyson. I saved my points at Ulta to obtain this. And now the time is here and I keep researching to make sure the fit is right for me. Oh, btw, did you get that puzzle piece back in the box? That was worrying me. LOL!! I was curious, could you do a video on how well these flat irons (or ones of your choice) perform at making multiple curl patterns? What would be your choice then? I don't want to necessarily straighten my hair all the time. I enjoy the messy curl.

Eliane Rheault: Thank you very mutch i was really wondering which one to choose and i will definitely go with the Infashion ! Thanks too your amazing wife for having taking all that time to compare then sharing the real deal with all the women in the world!!!

Karuna: Great Video!! I was literally contemplating between the steam Pod and Dyson and it has incredibly helped me in making a sound decision. Just one question though, which Iron keeps the results because my hair tends to get frizzy and curly after straightening it. I need to know which straight iron will keep the result. Thanks!

Sarah Poole: I have the Steam pod and love it. Leave my hair to air dry use Jvn heat protector on my wet hair and my bleached hair healthier than it’s been in ages. I did order off QVC the dyson but sent it back did not glide through smoothly and snagged and style did not stay frizzed before end of day! Team Steampod all the way!!

Susan Chaney: I rarely use an iron just because I can't seem to get much body at the scalp. When I want it straight--or smooth--I sometimes use that huge oval brush (several brands now) that is used on damp hair. But I am worried about damage as there is always hair in the brushes even when I try to be gentle. What do you think of those?? Great video tho, thanks.

Christine Mack: Excellent info and demo. Your wife is so naturally gorgeous and what a good sport. I like the Dyson Airwrap and stand alone dryer, so the flat iron is on my wish list. Any suggestions for a great heat protectant that is not sticky and won't make hair look dirty? Thank you and have a great week!

S M: I checked one of your videos about 2 months ago, to see if you had any recommendations for a temperature controlled straightener. I bought the Infrashine. I am very happy with my purchase. However, I have such stinking straight hair that when I try to give my hair some curl, even after using a buildable hair spray to start, and using a strong hold spray to finish, I'm lucky if the style holds 30 minutes. Yes, I have fine hair, I do not color treat my hair, I am over 55 and graying. Help. Please?

pam oakes: What do you think about the ghd platinum + flat iron? I have the dyson blow dryer and love it but on the fence about their flat iron. Looks so big and heavy but I like you can take larger sections. Would it be better for the hair than the ghd platinum +? Great info and video.

Khanjari Joshi: Believe it or not, this video is just in time as I look for a new Flat iron. I need a pretty basic one and so maybe going with the option 1. These videos are so helpful and again, Believe it or not, people comment on how full, healthy and beautiful my hair look (following your tips amd tricks). I have shared your information with people who ask, all the time. Actually, a friend of mine asked me if you have videos for men to cut their hair at home. I told him I didn't think so but could follow your 'short hair video' for reference. That said, just a thought... you may want to add some videos for men unless it's just not your Forte! Love how your wife is so sporty and willing! She is so gorgeous! Love to both of you from North Carolina!

Susan Taylor: Brilliant - and great to see how each one worked

Carol Bierman: Another fantastic, informative video. Thanks Justin. Hey, does anyone out there know a good low heat curling iron? I have fine hair, and afraid of heat damage. It's really hard to find one that has low heat. Most curling irons gear towards a high heat. I've purchased several brands, and they are still all too hot, even on the lowest heat settings. Thank you.

April Greer: I just saw this video and wished I saw it prior to getting my steam pod. Well, at my haircut a few weeks ago I discovered Unite and love the boing line for my waves. I got the steam pod because I read it would be safer for my hair. I used it while watching this video and next thing I knew I was dunzo

Julianne Rogers: I've never used a flat iron on my hair, but I'd love a video like this on blow dryers...im looking to get a new one to keep my long hair as healthy as possible

Laura B: L’Oréal, I think-I do a comb chase method when I flat iron. I worry if the steam would revert my hair or just add moisture.

Julianne Rogers: I think the results looked best after the steam iron, the second one

Dawn Distler: Hi! I loved the video. Do you have a video I can watch where you work with thick, dry, frizzy hair? Also what flat iron works best at keeping the results? Or product? After flat ironing my hair, my hair frizzes as soon as I leave the house. I’ve quit using a flat iron for the most part and try to deal/appreciate my curls and frizz lol. I put it up in a high pony instead daily. Please help

3100Maple: I’ve had healthy waist length hair almost my entire life. My hair dresser recently pushed my hair past it’s limits with improper bleaching methods. I cut off over 10 inches, and am suffering from dry hair and breakage. The texture has completely changed and I don’t know how to style it. With that being said I need some way of styling my hair to make it look presentable when I do have to go out. I work mostly from home so I can get away with air drying/no heat most days. I’ve switched stylists and invested in a remy hair halo. I haven’t had my appointment to color match and style the halo yet. Given all this info. Would you recommend the Dyson or the L’Oreal Steampod? I want to protect what sad hair I have left and the pricey remy halo. Thanks in advance for your help!

Nancy: I think I've flat ironed my hair once. Maybe 20 years ago

Rasha Sarandah: I have thinner fragile hair that is wavy and gets frizzy so less damage is key for me. Price point won’t matter. Would you suggest the steam pod or the bio ionic?

heygyal: Imagine taking 2 minutes to straighten your hair that's not even something I'd dream about

Mary Hamric: Adding Infrashine to my Christmas List. Dyson whew...so $$. Thanks for this video!!!

Fuzzy100666: All of those are wayyyy above my price point! How about a working class price point iron?

Emilie Simonsen: Does anyone have experiences in how much the hair is getting damaged? course i have hair down to my butt, and im afraid that i use it once a week, it will damage it- even tho it´s a lot better for the hair than other :-)

hlb0111: Can you curl/wave hair with the Steampod?

C Foster: I have very coily hair so I'm going with the Strampod.

Daphne N: Love this video well done.

Chris Moran: Ok - why the heck would you do a hair straightener test on already straight hair? A real test would be on NON-straight hair. Was a waste of time to watch it. What she showed, she could have done faster with a brush and a hairdryer.

Mary McKay: Have you done a video on the different types of color. My stylist uses a glaze. How is that different from a semipermanent or demipermanent??

TheRealUnrealForReal: Steampod is FANTASTIC! I love it.

Elizabeth -: Did you all 3 in the same day? If so then the comparison isn't very accurate. The hair cuticle will act funky doing it even twice in one day.

gorbie_: I appreciate the idea of the video... but - considering that your wife's hair was virtually dead straight to start with - I thick any hair straightener would have worked! Thanks anyway.

Mary McKay: None of them....unless the professional stylist is included. : )

Michelle Elegance: I like the Dyson for sure. Thanks for this and the marriage tip …great idea …u cook dinner…I gotta use that on my husband.

crazym71: Dyson is not worth it. Have it from past few years although now i wish i could return it. Ended up purchasing steam pod.

Melanie Saldana: Would hair texture play a role in which is better and easier on the hair?

Mary Rose Moskowitz: My hair is a blunt cut bob (reaches the bottom of my neck.) it is wavy. I use my flat iron to straighten it after blow drying it. The bottom poofs out and does not stay straight and smooth. Is the blunt cut wrong for wavy hair or could a ‘better’ flat iron be more compatible to working with wavy hair?

•Sunrise•: So I heard that steampod is the only one that uses steam? *Are there cheaper products that also use steam*

Atlantis4056: I bought the Dyson but it’s too heavy and the battery doesn’t last so I returned it. Not worth the money.

Nancy Peterson: You wife is a saint

Nancy Peterson: I have had cancer and lost all my hair 12 years ago. Unfortunately, I wasn’t one who there hair came back full. I have very thin gray hair. I put very little products on it. Help me ! I’ve had short and shoulder length. I am 67 but have the mind and spirit of a 50 year old so no old lady hairdo. Do you know any one in Miami fla that knows what they are doing.
