Vikings Hair Tutorial For Short Hair - Featuring Amy Bailey

In most shows, fancy braiding only happens on long hair. But that doesn't mean short-haired folks can't do it too! In this tutorial I take some iconic elements of Vikings hairstyles and translate them into a format that works for short hair. Skills needed: lace braid, French braid

Hi everyone welcome back and clearly. This is a very special tutorial that I'm going to bring to you today, because I have here with me, Amy Bailey, I'd like to introduce to you hello, guys. She plays queen kwenthrith on Vikings in this tutorial, we're going to work on teaching Vikings, hair for short hair, because I cut mine all off. I wonder why, because I died that's okay. This will be the same vibe that you get from the Vikings show, but also very wearables. You can take it out and you'll have very unique braids, but people won't be afraid that you're going to kill them. I might there are a few things that we should do to help short hair hold the Viking style a lot. Firstly, we're going to use a bit of texture spray. This helps Braves from slipping out, which is nice when they don't get to be very long. On short hair, you spray me now looks pretty good, okay ready. It feels awesome that feels a little bit ticks tree, see gorgeous part your hair deeply. Besides, you can just toss your hair to the side. If you want exactly we're gon na do, lagertha is headband. Braid that she wears in a lot of styles, so to start that grab a little bit of hair from next to your part, that's at your forehead, but I got it all right and then split it into three parts. Okay, so this is little y'all yeah. This is like four little fingers: okay, it's okay! I got a good one over then two and then, and then you have in this strand, huh add more hair. Ah there it is there. It is just kind of like the armpit video little boys. I believe we're just featuring our our mouths, mostly yeah and then, and then when do you, add and then bring the back strand over again and so the braid you want to be angling it to the side right. So how often do I add, you only add to the Strand that's in front and it's one cross over each time. Yes, so you add to this strand again: I'm just gon na keep going because yeah doctor does not quit and then add more hair to that one yeah laughing so good. I can feel it honey out somewhere tonight. Is this right yeah it is. Are you lying? No all right and since with short hair you're, probably getting near the ends of your hair length right. Yes, all right! So when you add this in, can I keep going yet there? She goes okay and then hold it. You at the end, at the end of that braid, okay, right there yeah put in a small elastic on your braid. We want it to be a little bit disheveled in a little bit free-flowing good did shuffled whoop records, pull on little bits of the braid okay, to give it some volume, okay and then pin the little ponytail back, go back, but big done. Yeah yeah! For a nice side shaped, look we're now going to do the now we're gon na braids in the eyes, okay yeah. I didn't like it a shame, so take a little bit of hair from here mm-hmm and then just regular braid it to the ends. Okay. So this is teeny tiny, oh yeah, little bitty. The cool thing about Vikings is that it's very visually textured, so there's lots of little accent: braids different colored hair. They put I've had bells in my hair ribbons in my hair boats in my hair, I'm on the way down yeah. This is a race, so good, a little me good. Well, that's it on this one, all right! Okay, all right! So with that one pick it up and then with some more hair from your side, split that hair in half, okay and then braid with these strands and the little braids Oh and treat the little braids like at the third strand of the braid. And then we're going to be French braiding, Oh, which is like the top braid, but adding in hair to both strands this time, man. So we do the first stitch. It'S called the stitch y'all, so I'm late, I have to stitch my hair and you pick up more hair on the top yeah. So when you're French braiding, you always want to add in more hair from the side of the braid that you're adding it to. Okay, keep going adding in here yeah we're going to go back and, depending on how long your hair is, you can decide how far to go back. I'M gon na I'm going to just see what happens: okay, yep and now that you've got to the ends. Tie that off with a little elastic and then the last little bit is a cute thing to do for your short hair pick up your hair in the back like this and then tuck that side braid, underneath okay and you're gon na pin it back there. The braid back to your head and then let the rest of her hair fall over. She is a crafty one, this Shannon souffle and did I do it yeah. So now that and then this one you just do hang loose, you do like a little tiny accent. Braid over here, oh love and out yeah okay, then just grab a tiny bit of hair and normal braid it so you've done Lag with her hair mm-hmm. When prepared what else I've done from Vikings, I've actually done a couple tutorials for men too. So I've done Ragnar one now, but they have to have a long here, yeah unfortunately so yeah. So I have to say full disclosure that wasn't easy for me, but I'm not a good brighter. But I've never done this before and yet my head is braided. So but honestly, it was very brave of Amy to do it this way, because most of you get to do it in a mirror which helps yeah a lot yeah cool, very good. Wintersmith.: When my hair was same length as Amy's, I actually did the top lace braid, and it looked cool, and it helped a lot to hold back my growing fringe (which was at this absolutely worst stage of always gtting into my eyes), so I can vouch, that this is a really cool hairstyle that is very comfy to wear :D
