Starting to hate your gray, hair watch this video before you quit and dye it hey. Ladies welcome back to my channel. It is friday, and we are gon na - go into this weekend, full of inspiration, full of strength and really learning how to talk ourself off the ledge. If we are sitting in a space of not being happy with our gray hair silver hair, granberry hair, whatever color your hair is right now, if you are not happy, this is the best video to watch keeping your library, because i'm going to be teaching, you three Tips on how to get to your final destination, so the three tips i'm going to be sharing with you are one: what are your goals? What are your goals with your gray hair journey? How do you want this process to go number two? What are your options? What things can you implement into your gray hair journey that are going to ease the discomfort, are going to get to your goals faster and make you happier along the way, and my third tip is going to be? What kind of woman do you want to be at the end of this journey? What do you want to learn? How do you want to feel all of these things are going to be in this video, coupled with my personal experience of going gray myself. So this is a great video to watch from the beginning to end so you'll see how it builds on itself and also all of the things that i kind of did wrong or how i kind of changed my attitude to really get me to the finish line. So when we first talk about our goals, what are our goals when it comes to your gray, hair journey? What are your goals with your hair? In general, a lot of women all over the world went into a forced, gray, hair journey of march 2020.. Now, when i went through my gray hair journey in 2014-15, i stopped dying october 2015. No one was going gray, there was not any silver communities, it wasn't facebook. There wasn't any of this stuff. Pinterest had older women, no one, my age in their 30s. I had no references, and i thought, how do you do this or i i'm a kind of person that needs to if i read a book or if i want to know about something or how to build something or how to create something i'll, research, it and I'Ll watch videos i'll buy a book i'll do whatever it is because it empowers me. I have the knowledge, i know how to do it and there was nothing for me to grasp onto it's like there's. No one doing this, i'm doing this. Oh my gosh, like what am i doing so i wrote a book beauty reinvented. I pulled it out actually from over here. Having a little stash of these, which is such a fun read it's fast. It'S not a picture book like most gray hair. It'S not about that. It'S a raw, not sugar-coated book, for you to basically say hey. I want to do this. How do i do it? It has a cocktail in front of each chapter too, just to kind of give you an extra inspiration, but it is not. Ladies you're, either in or you're out, you're either going to do it or you're. Not, and that's is as simple as that. This is not an easy journey. There is a lot of factors that go in negative self-talk. I don't like how i look you get very down on yourself, you look in the mirror and you say awful things to yourself. You think you're old, you think you're letting yourself go. I mean all of the society things that come on. You get back to your focus. What are your goals? Wow? I want to be less stressed about dying, my hair. I don't want chemicals in my hair anymore. I want to basically age the way i naturally would age. I want to see what it looks like. What are your goals when it comes to your gray, hair journey? Keep focusing back to that when you keep kind of derailing yourself like oh, this is awful, or this looks terrible. What to who? Who are you listening to? No one else is wearing your gray hair. So i don't know why people like to tell us like what they think it looks like or what they think, because it wasn't. Unless you asked somebody like hey, what do you think doesn't matter, so you have to think about your goals. Why don't you set 30 60 90 day goals check in with yourself? How is your hair doing? Are you getting it cut? Are you being able to say you know what i want a really sassy look over on my beauty, reinvented private facebook group. I have 14 000 women. I created this group because i wanted you to be connected together. I wanted you to share your selfies and share your journeys and the ladies are so it's so wonderful. Some ladies went pixie some ladies just shaved their head and said: hey. I'M doing it this way. Some ladies highlighted their hair. Some, ladies, did you know low lights and just really help themselves through, but there's a community of women to help you get out of your funk and say: hey, listen, snap! Out of it it's hard! It'S a growth period, it's not instantaneous now with tick-tock and all of these super fast videos. Everything has to be so fast gray. Hair does not grow fast overnight. It is the, i think. That'S such the beauty of this journey is what you experience, how you grow as a woman. It is it's kind of nice to be. You know molded and put through things that are uncomfortable when it comes to your beauty, because guess what you get stronger, you know exactly who you are when you go through this, and it should be something that totally changes you and makes you feel alive makes you Feel beautiful because you're choosing the gray hair on your own terms, you want to do this you're doing it. You are being bold, fierce and unapologetic about the fact that you decided to go gray so re, go back to your goals, have a little book and write out your goals six month goal a year ago and keep to it and keep focused. My second tip is know your options, so there are a lot of options now. Ladies, besides the support groups that you can join besides, all the books that you can buy on amazon to help you through it to be inspired. Pinterest is full of so many different granbray silver gray hair. So you have a lot of inspiration, but you have a lot of options when it comes to doing things at home, such as root sprays or touch-up sprays or powders, or we've talked about so many different ones. On my channel that are going to help you through getting to your destination, i have hats. I have gray attitude. I have owner gray, i have um so for those days where you're like oh gosh, i can't i don't want anyone to see, like my four inch roots, throw on a hat, throw on a scarf, be fun, put on glasses, put on big glasses. There'S a lot of options for you that will help you kind of get through those hard days or when the days i've had those so many times. That'S why i created these hats, where it's own, your gray. I would tell myself you know what that's what i'm doing, i'm owning my gray. If i have to have a hat that i see and i wear and i just says to the world. Yes, i know i'm gray and i'm owning it, i'm owning my gray. That'S what i did. I also did different things where you know remember: this was 2015. There was nothing for me to use on my hair. That would help with i had this silver and then i had all the black dye. I went to sally's and i bought this like it's like a platinum spray, and i thought this would be great like i'll, just spray it on and it'll make it look like. There'S really no demarcation line, so i would spray it on. Oh my gosh. It would be like a glitter. It was like all i saw. I thought. Oh, my gosh, i'm highly flammable right now, because all i see is like this big like cloud. It was obviously very bad for the environment, so i stopped using it, but it was like glitter that would just fall and i'm like, but it really didn't do anything like i had glitter everywhere. I was like what did i just do so. I i'm almost like embarrassed to say like there was nothing really that i could do to help with the demarcation. So i i switched my attitude towards it where i was like this is kind of cool like no one else has this demarcation? No one else has this like waterfall of silver and then the black, and that's when i really came into the thought process of it's like the new me is coming and like the old me is just disappearing. The old you just kind of is leaving, and you have the new you coming in and that's how i looked at it. I think women are just tired of being conformed and being told that you have to dye your hair until the day you die. I mean i don't really understand who made that up and why we just started to believe it. So i did feel rebellious. I did feel like no one's doing this. It'S a hair color. I mean that's really what it is like all that and it would almost look like the dyed. Black hair was like dry and just dehydrated, and it didn't have a place in my life anymore. It was really cool. I was almost like. Oh, i can't wait until this goes away, so i kept getting it cut. I kept having michael cut it shorter and shorter, so we could just get rid of the dye and it was really it was. It was an exciting experience when you change your attitude when you're. Like you know, this is kind of cool like what a weird pattern or, what's my hair doing, i thought it was going to be all white and it's black in the back and it's you know, white in the front, and i've said to you before in some Of my videos, my husband, said to me one day i mean it literally came out of nowhere he's like you know what your hair is like. It'S like geriatric in the front and party in the back, and i literally was like what did what did you just say he's like yeah like yeah, and i was like we're not talking for a very long time that is like so rude. It was like it's just fine, but so you have to have a sense of humor and i've always said that i sound like a broken record, but you really do you've got you've got to say you know what he's right like this is fun like i'm. You know, and i started you know, liking the comments of carilla de ville, i'm like an iconic disney character. Amazing like no one who could do that. Who could actually have that naturally happening change, your your options or change your your inner dialogue and know your options when it comes to so many different products to help you through this journey? Now we didn't talk about if you really want to go different and you wanted to do a wig and kind of see what different colors look like. Maybe you're like okay, i'm going gray, but maybe i want to be really blonde. I'M going to put on a blonde wig. I actually found a picture recently in my phone when i was thinking to myself. I just want to be you know blonde, and i want to see what that would look like. It would kind of remind me or give me an option of how i would look gray so know that know that there are so many different things that are going to really support you, and it's going to be a very exciting time, because you have to switch Your attitude, you have to just stop looking at it as what society says to you that it's old and that it's dull and it's not attractive and no one wants to hire you and no one wants to date. You i'll get to tell you what i have more attention with gray hair than i ever did with black hair. I'Ve heard that from every woman that i have come in contact with that has gone great. We say the same thing to each other and it is a tribe of silver women and when i see women out, we are attracted to each other, because we have the we know the journey. We know it's. It is a rebellious thing to do to which is so strange to age, naturally to age and just be like hey. This is me, i'm not doing anything. I'M not. You know again, ladies. Please, remember that it. It'S not. You don't have to let your hair go gray, you could rock your fierceness at 85 with dyed hair. I have it all over my fierce aging i had i had on women that are in 84 and still dye their hair cares. This is about just allowing yourself to be who you are if you want to do that, there are no limitations, stop putting yourself in a box and saying i can't do this. I can't do that. It'S not going to look good on me. I don't want to do it if you don't want to do it, don't do it if you want to do it dive in deep and be free, be free and say i'm going to embrace this experience for everything it has to offer me. I'M just gon na. Do it i'm gon na see how i like it? If i don't like it i'll die of all these options, you're not stuck in one box where, if you do it and you can't turn back, you could always turn back and my third tip is figure out. What'S going to work for you what's going to work for you, whether it is cutting your hair, putting it back into a bun for six months, putting on a hat, putting on a scarf, you know, maybe it's getting just going and dyeing your hair gray. Maybe you want to do that. I know a lot of women that really just want that instantaneous gratification. There are a lot of things that go along with that. It'S not as easy as just going to the salon and getting your hair dyed all gray. I actually was just speaking to michael my stylist about that this morning, because i had said that when i was going, i was like, can you just? Can you just strip out all the black dye he's like your hair will turn orange nicole? It'S going to be terrible. Do not do it. I said: okay, let's just keep cutting, so that was, you know, hit he's like it's just so damaging to to strip the hair and to try to, like you know, cheat around just this growing out process, and i just you know, really feel that the woman you Are when you start your gray, hair journey is completely different to the woman. You are when you complete your gray, hair journey. So from the beginning, to the end, you dramatically change. You are very, very interesting person along the way there's so many ups and downs. There'S definitely a lot of crying and a lot of you know. I don't know if i can do this or i feel so ugly today or what have you remember, post it's on your window? Are you on your window post, it's on your vanity and your mirror. Give you that inspiration - i am bold. I am fierce i am beautiful. I can do this. The lipstick i'm wearing today is figure it out, and i thought it was so perfect because i was like i'm gon na figure. This out, i got ta just figure this out. That'S like a mantra of mine where it's like, when i don't know how to do something or i'm in the middle of something and i'm like gosh, i'm like figure it out. I just got ta figure it out. That'S what you're doing with your gray hair journey, you're figuring it out. Ladies, it is exciting, it is fun. I'Ve always said this on my channel because you are becoming the woman that you were really meant to be, and this is i'm speaking to women that want to do the gray hair. I always feel like. I have to to say this because i don't want you to feel that you you, if you you always have to fall into the box of gray hair, you don't you don't. Women are celebrated, no matter what hair color they have. This is just a movement of women that want to do something different and it's not always accepted, and it's not always easy because of all of the society, the beauty, industry and the fashion industry. I mean they're they're, very big influences on the the reason why women are afraid to age and afraid to just you know, come out and be like okay. This is who i am what's wrong with that, what's wrong with aging there's nothing wrong with aging. Ladies, it's to be celebrated, we know that, and the funny thing is is that we are all aging. I don't know why everybody pretends like we're, not aging like the fashion industry and the beauty industry want to, like you know, make us stare at girls that are teenagers and think that we're going to look like that, it's just so odd to me. It'S such a disconnect so be inspired by other women that are making the bold move join a private facebook group and say you know what these women are really wow, they're, really staying positive on the days that i really need this i'm going to check in and I'M going to be uplifted, i'm going to give i'm going to infuse that inspiration into myself today. You know really really understand what you are allowing to come into your space when it comes to your beauty, comes to your aging, comes to your hair and your decisions about your your own beauty. You make the rules, you make the decisions and you go forth with that attitude of i, yes, i can actually i can so. Ladies, i have great videos if you go through this video that you can watch in your library from other women in my fierce aging series that are great they're coming up next, you can see those, and until my next video i'll see you later

Bird enthusiast: I have gray-hombre hair and am growing out a pixie. It’s above my shoulders and at first I was hesitant to let it grow. I wasn’t sure if it would look good long. The look is really growing on me now (no pun intended). Thank you for this video.

Reba Jackson: Thank you for showing women that you can be beautiful at any age. I stopped dyeing 3 years ago. I went the route of a short haircut after 6 months of grombre. I fell in love with my gray hair. I love the broad streaks of silver. I feel more confident than I ever felt before. I am no longer chasing how I looked at 30. It's been so empowering to own my age and my gray.

X ray: Doing it. After 1 year, cut all the brown out. You've inspired me to step out of my comfort zone . Thank you!!

Claire Kurdelak: Nikol, I was just thinking- You have shared more than once that you had a struggle with and came to terms with infertility. I think in this work you are passionate about, God has given you this way of using your ‘mothering’ gifts in this world. You are a role model, an encourager, a fierce defender, a woman who affirms others. It’s beautiful.

Lizz Stewart: I finally finished my grow out. And lately I almost bought into the lie that I look old and I'm too young to look old. then I saw this video. I've watched in the beginning of my journey and here you are reminding me why I did this. So happy for your encouragement.

Louise Alain: I’m 14 months in cold turkey and have a ways to go to be fully transitioned. I absolutely love my grey/silver hair. Love your group and the women are encouraging and amazing. Keep going ladies it’s worth it ‍

EndoRN3: Repeat after me “I’m figuring this out; I’m figuring this out!” I had no idea how much going grey would affect other choices in my life, clothing, jewelry, makeup....It is one of the biggest decisions I have ever made. It is really life-changing!

April Friend: I did this about the same time you did. I am 48 and it was a journey. I will never go back. I get mixed reviews and my hair is alot like yours. I just woke up one day and said I am done coloring my hair and I am glad I did. Don't let anyone tell you your authentic self isn't beautiful. Your video is so spot on!! My husband didn't want me to stop coloring it. But I get comments from strangers on how pretty my long grombre hair is. Mine is the same color as yours. It's beautiful to just be you!

Cynthia Lees: You were one of my inspirations when I decided I was going to let my hair grow out. I’m 14 months into it and I love it!! You look so young and gorgeous and that was so inspiring to me. I love your depth and positivity, you are so lovely and I really couldn’t have done it without you!! Thank you!

Claudia Diaz: I used a wig for 16 months. I began to stop dying on 2019 and this week I showed up with my gray hair and a bob. So happy for my choice. Enjoying my freedom!!!!!! You helped me all this time. Nikol you are such an inspiration!!! Thanks!

Jeanne Marie: Thank goodness for you! I stopped dying my hair in March 2020 and haven’t looked back! I’m 70 and have been playing with hair color forever! I’ve actually been ready for about 10 years but I listened to everyone else! It has been a very liberating journey! You are such an inspiration!

Mangisty 100: Great episode! Thank you for being one of my first inspirations! I am over a year and I thought I would be fully transitioned by now, but nope...but it is okay! I feel so good about it now and I truly love my silvers for all they have taught me!

Dianne Porter: I was tired of being a slave to hair dye so after 35 plus years of colouring my hair I decided in March 2020 to ditch the dye. My hairdresser was still open during Covid so it was just coincidental of the time for my decision. I went cold turkey and I am now fully transitioned. It's funny how I get compliments on my hair colour now but never did when I was colouring. I will never go back to colouring! Great video!

Candy Henderson: Wonderful episode! I never realized how freeing not dyeing my hair would be! Best hair decision I ever made!!

Sharon Tate: I stopped dying my hair April 2020. The difference of how soft my grey hair to the blonde dye that is left is huge. It is a slow process but I am persevering.

Vikki Lange: I stopped dyeing March 2020. After several months I cut it short and the curls came back. I used your tip of getting frequent haircuts and it worked great. I kept rewatching your videos to help support my journey. Thank you for that!

Cindy Rose: I turned 37 last week and just crossed by 1 year anniversary since I buzzed my hair to let my gray grow in. So freeing and am so happy I see myself when I look in the mirror. Also a fellow IVF sister (what a sh-t show that journey is!)- thank you for the inspiration!

Lindy V: At 43 I decided I was sick of dying my hair. I shaved my head and bought an Ellen Wille wig to wear until my hair grew to the desired length. I'm 45 now and don't regret going gray. However it really does make me look older. But I frequently receive complements on my hair color and I get the senior discount at the grocery store lol.

Winter Sky Creations: The book Going Gray, Looking Great by Diana Lewis Jewell helped me immensely when I embraced my grey in 2010. At that time she also had a private forum? (I’m not sure what to call it) but it’s not still around. The support in that community was awesome. It sounds like you have created something similar to help more women connect and succeed in their journey to grey beauty. Kudos to you!

Baby Frog: I am nearly 36 and found my first gray hair shortly after I turned 30. I have been highlighting it to cover the grays. However I have decided that I want to embrace my gray instead of turning to dying it. People are not super supportive but I like the idea of embracing something I can’t stop. It’s my new natural color. Thank you for your positivity

Beatriz A: Awesome motivational video! Thanks! I started my Gray hair Journey back in September of 2017, and for inspiration I would watch your channel Nikol, and Erica Henry Johnston’s channel as well, both your channels were so inspirational, you both got me through the rougher days! I’m sooo happy I did it. I decided to go gray as a gift to myself, it was for my 50th birthday, which was on November of 2019, I wanted to be fully gray on my 50th birthday, plus I wanted to see my real hair the way it was meant to be seen in my opinion. I wanted to see my pattern of grays and white evolving as it grew out. It was a process, but I’ll never go back to the dye again. I only dyed my hair from the age of 41 to 47. I’m sooo glad I did it, I feel more confident than I’ve ever felt and I don’t give a damn on what “other” people think or what their opinions are regarding my decision to go gray, nor if they approve or if they like it or not. I really recommend this to anyone that is ready to go gray, it’s such an empowering, beautiful journey of self approval and self determination that is well worth the sacrifice! Stay strong and young at heart! . And Yes!! I definitely get “new attention” with my gray hair now, it’s an attention of all age spans and both male and female genders, which is quite nice, and in this process I’ve also inspired other women that have asked me about the process, I’ve inspired them to do the same, and I’ve gone back and seen those ladies with gray hair now, so it is very exciting and empowering to make a difference. Thank you!

Pat Mear: I'm so happy you created this series and help woman, who want to, go gray. I also have gotten more attention and compliments since I went natural. I love my white hair, especially finding purple shampoo, and recently started wearing it in a short bob. My honey loves it and he often compliments me. You are such an inspiration! XO❤

Karen McKinney: I’m 51. Stopped dying at 40 when I was finally pregnant. I LOVE my gray. Back then when it was a lot less gray I had people imply I was a bad Mom to let my gray come in when my daughter was so young. I love my color (I’ve had nightmares that I dyed it and woke up in a panic), I don’t however love the texture. Any advice on dealing with the dry, course texture? (Prior non gray hair was fine and straggly). THANK YOU.

Misfit Toys: I’m 31 and my gray hair is coming in the front, concentrated in one area. I’m so excited to get my lock of gray in! My husband makes negative remarks but I don’t care!

Linda Marocco: I live in Rhode Island, the smallest state, I don’t see anyone out here doing the grey hair transition... it is crazy!... I feel awesome about doing it!... I have more confidence at 64 going grey than I ever have!!!... thank you SO much, Nikol!!!!

Jane Hardin: I'm all in! This past February, I decided to stop dying my gray. I had a haircut, still have some dark hair left, but I am getting compliments galore and it seems I'm inspiring a lot of women. I feel more free than ever and am happy to be dye free. I came across your channel a year ago. And it was your videos that have inspired me to go for it, and I thank you for being bold and being you....

Ágnes Fogl: Oh Paula, it's a no-judge channel We all support here each other Wether you want to remove your neurofibroma or not, wether you want to color your hair or not, wether you want to be 100 % natural or not. It's all about how You want to feel yourself. Thanks Nikol for today's video. I'm 10 month in, exactly the phase when women often feel it has just stoped growing

Cami Jacob: I wished I had more than 10 gray hair. Its so much more fun than just brown hair.

Alli Cat: 14 months in and only about 2 inches to go! I can't wait to cut off this last bit. I'm 43 and have been going grey since I was 14

Angel Marie-line Chislett: After watching your channel for a period of time and loving how you have embraced your grey journey has had me thinking really hard... I have been tinting my hair since my late 20's due to my onset of grey hairs. I'm now 57 and finally taking the leap, booked an appointment with my hairdresser October 2nd to start my grey journey. Nervous and so excited! Thanks for the inspiration Nikol

Toni Maffeo: I have never been happier with my “ silver tinsel” when I was 58 my daughter became pregnant and that’s all it took . I Stopped dying my Dk brown hair . Few months into my roots were silver . So I went to salon and they lightened my hair as much as they could without it falling off . I was blondish for a bit and now at 61 and a half I’m all done . I Never had so many compliments from both Men and woman. When I pass a silver haired ‍ woman I give them a thumbs up

Dana King: I’m happy with my gray and so grateful for the support from your channel. You are an uplifting source of inspiration, THANK YOU! ❤️

S RKH: I’m very lucky that everyone I know has been very supportive of my transition to gray (now almost 15 months in)—my husband most of all, who tells me how beautiful my hair is. He’s also thrilled with how much money we’ve saved each month!

christine steadman: I have been gray since my early 30’s & haven’t regretted it. I just wish someone was around as encouraging & full of positive ideas as you are. I love what you say about fierce aging. Thank you

Beverly Gamble: I've gone grey. Last year I decided to dye it ...just to see. I realized it made me look older! Now I'm grey again with a short, spiky pixie and I LOVE it❤❤❤ I've also quit wearing eye makeup (irritated my eyes). But I am now excited to pick out new glasses to accentuate the "new" me!!! I turn 65 in August and am very grateful to still have my eyesight and to still have hair. ❤❣

Cath Nailtheday: My last dye was February 2020, I’m documenting my journey on YouTube it’s really helped me, I’ve made so many friends through the silver community and I love seeing my progress month by month. Now it’s quite long I love my silvers and my hair is SO healthy!!! Plus everyone that talks to me says how lovely it is. I don’t know now why I dyed it for so many years. Ooh and Nikol your videos and your beauty with your hair has REALLY helped me. Thank you for all you do

Laurett Gannon: I’m 4 months into growing out The gray and my hair is already so much healthier from not dying it every 6 weeks!

Oasis: I'm 40 years old and have been letting my greys grow in since the age of 38. Sometimes I will add red or purple streaks to my long salt and pepper hair. I hope to keep it up and watching these videos gives me that support I need! Thanks

Linda K: Hi Nikol,I just ordered your book and received it today.I started my gray hair journey in March of 2020.. I feel liberated because I no longer have to spend the money to cover my roots every 2 weeks ,plus add the blond highlights.I really never thought I would have the confidence to go thru with it but I am doing it.My kids are very encouraging and I have to say I received only one negative comment and that was from the receptionist at the hair salon. When I was paying she said that she liked my hairstyle but she is never ever going to let her hair go gray.It just wasn't her thing..I walked out not feeling badly for myself but feeling embarrassed for her and how ignorant she sounded. To each his own! I firmly believe that if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. Thanks Nikol for all of your helpful tips and tricks!

Lady Bohemia: My hair has never been healthier and sparkles in the sun. My scalp doesn't flake anymore. I will never dye again!

kari granger: Just want to tell you Nikol, you really helped me to decide to go gray and do it for myself!! Thank you for your courage and confidence. You're doing a good thing by providing this content.

Froggal B: Great uplifting video! I have been gray for 10 years now and I still get discouraged sometimes. Every time I think I will color it I get a compliment from a stranger who tells me how beautiful it is! Those compliments always come from younger women! I will watch this from now on when I get discouraged. Thank You!

Amy Corley: Started my journey in1998 and my hair grows slow but I've been grey/white/silver for a long time now. Thankfully it came in really nice and the complements NEVER stop. There is only one person I know that has never complemented me on my hair and that is my older sister by 5 years. Even after her facelift and looks wonderful, she feels MY grey hair ages HER. Oops sorry, it's not going anywhere!

Sarah Bhutta: I stopped August 2019, it was hard at times. I looked a mess. My journey is “complete”, if there’s such a thing but there are still days when it’s better than others. The FB group helps so much! It’s encouraging to have a community. I ordered one of the hats and can’t wait to wear it on my walks!

Poppy Popstographics: I’m 32 and I’m finally deciding to let greys grow out, I already have 3 inches of grey regrowth in a streak in the front of my hair. Its so nice to see beautiful confident women with such striking silver hair I already have people telling me to colour my roots and not to go grey

Alison Beaumont: Hey Nikol, As you can see from my photo I had the grey stripe early, as does my sister and my mum. I went full grey a few years ago and have never looked back. I arrived late to a get -together with friends I hadn't seen in awhile recently - and I got compliments on my grey hair - they even asked for my hairdresser! LOL! I had to advise it was just mother nature.

Margaret R: All of our thoughts on gray hair are societies influence on us. I’m finally over it, and honestly I’m pretty sure it will be drastic for me because nobody believes I’m over 50, they guess 35 all the time. I doubt that will happen when I’m fully silver but I hope I don’t care by then!

Lindsey Cameron: Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Every so often I need positive reinforcement of my gray journey. Even at 60 I find I stand out in my family and friends and sometimes feel like I just stand out too much. But watching your videos makes me feel like I am exactly where I should be!. And I’m doing great!

TIgre: 16 months dye free and finally got 2 compliments in one day. These two separate encounters really surprised me because both these women just kind of stared at me for a bit before asking (they both asked the same question) "Is that your real hair color before saying it was beautiful. I had my hair in a loose bun so all my hair looked salt and pepper, more salt on the front and sides and more pepper in the back. Only my actual bun was dark brown which was partially covered by my bun clip. What I thought was interesting was they didn't just compliment my hair. They asked if it was my real hair color! Which I think is a better compliment because it appears like a desired look and not an accident, lazy, letting myself go or or I'm in an awkward transition. I'm milking it! Another encouraging mindset is, it makes you stand out. My biggest weakness though is not caving and dyeing it, but trying not to chop it off. I so badly want to be done with my transition. But I keep telling myself I don't like myself with short hair...so be patient. I am trimming it every 3 months but I'm pretty sure it's going to take the full 2 yrs that the professionals say it will take. Also wanted to share a gray hair product and it's really old but really great. VO5 Hairdressing for GRAY and Silver hair. This is not for fine hair. Better for thick, coarse, wirey, dry hair. Adds moisture and shine but you have to use like half a pea size to a pea size if you have long hair. I emulsify in my palms 1st and flip my hair over and apply to the underside 1st so the majority goes on there. Then I run it does my crown straight back, then the side. Best thing about this product, it's inexpensive..6.99 at CVS and it's PURPLE. So it makes your silvers sparkling and look soft. Again, this Vaseline type of formula is not for fine hair and even for thick hair, you still have to use it sparingly. VO5 makes one for fine hair but I wouldn't recommend it because I remember it being a yellowy beige color. A big NO NO for silver hair.,

Constance L Morris: Thank you Nikol. This was very encouraging. I am constantly talking to myself about going gray or throwing in the towel and getting a color lol. This gave me the confidence I needed to complete my gray hair journey! Again thank you very much!

Peaches Skin Care: I love my grey hair sparkle and I wish I had more. Wabi Sabi embracing the imperfections of life and ourselves and in aging A GIFT. Blessings everyone Lisa

Christina LoBurgio: Nikol you were such a inspiration to me. You and I have very similar stories with IVF. I was diagnosed with severe PCOS. I was told I would never be able to have children on my own. LONG story short, after years of infertility drugs, shots, IVF I finally just gave up. But God had other plans for me. I was blessed with two beautiful children naturally. BUT one thing happened to me a few weeks after having my daughter, I developed alopecia (bald spot) in the back of my head. I was so embarrassed and ashamed. But when my hair finally grew out in that spot it was WHITE. Now it’s my favorite part of my hair. It’s a reminder of how far I have come. I also went “cold Turkey” and shaved my entire head. Thank you Nikol!!!!

Jill Hughes: You are gorgeous with your gray- I just cut mine off as well and going through this process. I relate to everything you are saying! SO MANY EMOTIONS, so far, I have done the toners, turned yellow and then finally two cuts, I need one more cut to have all the yellowish off...my hair is shorter than ever and so gray I have been tempted to add the color back but staying strong- thank you so much for the videos and inspirations! :)

paintnknit: Thank, Nikol! Love your videos, Facebook group, and inspiration! I love my gray hair, which I have embrassed since February 2020. Going lighter over the years has helped as I was a brunette, but went to a dark blonde. Now when I see the brunette hair in the back, it takes me back. Love and the platinum in the front.

Alcance Gemma: Ur hair is amazing love it

Queenbrighid QB: Your video is so inspiring and so encouraging ! Actually thinking of stopping dyeing my hair but didn’t feel courageous enough yet ! May start the journey in 2022 ! I am absolutely sure it changes a woman And it both scares me and excites me ! Definitely want to be who I am and it is a way for sure !

Margaret Tunney: Thanks for the video Nikol. My hair was very dark and gray came in when I was 15 now in my 50's and stopped dying it over 5 years ago the best thing I have done my hair is much softer and my scalp feels a lot better as well. I may be gray but I go out for a run every other morning and cycle everywhere. It keeps me fit.

Lori Bella: You’re videos were my inspiration during the whole growing out process Nikol and now I absolutely love, love, love my silver hair. I will never go back. I love it! So fun.

Julie A.: Watching your videos gave me such strength and inspiration. I am so happy with my natural hair. It took 2 full years to grow out the dye and then another year to grow it to my desired length. I also watched a woman you referenced in your book, Elisaberrinigomez (formerly Elisa in Montreal). Pictures of Roxanne Gould and Annika von Holt helped, too!

kathy lam: 2014 started my freedom journey. Grew out white without any use of color & let natural curl come out. This year I had a little low lights put in, so it's more like your color, Nikol. I really like it! My hair is healthier, no itchy scalp, etc. Thanks for all you do to help us through the rough spots!!

Yvette Ratson: I found it easier to transition to grey. I cut my hair really short and two cuts later I was totally grey. I would have ladies coming up to me and asking who coloured my hair, when I told them it was natural they would always say if my hair could go grey like yours I would go grey. I was really lucky that my grey was pretty. My daughter who is a hair dresser said "why didn't you say I coloured it", to funny.

Sioban Dawson: It took two years to grow out my gray, never felt better. Your hair rocks‍

Grave Cat: Thank you, beautiful, Nikol. I'm 1 and 1/2 years in and today was one of those hard days. I went online looking for a little encouragement and I found you. Thank you for being our cheerleader. You are lovely.

Eireann C: I’ve been gray for over 10 years. I decided to stop coloring my hair cold turkey. I was in my mid 40s at the time. I had wanted to do it 10 years earlier but a hairstylist talked me out of it, saying I was too young. Sadly I listened. When I finally decided enough…I stripped my brown/auburn color with color remover from Target. I turned a “strawberry blonde”. I used baby shampoo to help get the remaining color out and conditioned it everyday, after the harsh stripper. I did one highlight procedure to blend. After that it just grew out with hardly any demarcation. If I knew it was that easy, I would have done it earlier. I have a platinum blonde/ white gray head of hair now. Sorry you had no one to help you when you decided to do this. I was already rocking the gray at a young age and would have loved to give you the same pointers I give to women all the time. Men and women of all ages constantly compliment my hair. My biggest recommendation is get a young sassy cut, and use a blue shampoo to keep the brass away. Those are key. Enjoy and as I have been saying since 2010…”Own It!”

Grace at Midlife: Love the photo w/ the scarf and sunglasses. You look SO chic! The only person who wants me to dye my hair is my mom lol. She, like the rest of us, is socialized to think that grey hair makes us look "old" and that looking old is unattractive. No man in my life, however, has ever responded negatively to my greying hair. It's the women in my life who have hangups about grey hair on themselves. Sometimes when I get a look at my grey hairs up close, it is hard for me. At other times, I like that I'm going against expectation. Simply put, I just don't want to go thru the maintenance involved of getting it dyed. Just washing my hair feels like a chore!

Kristen Barancik: It is a day by day journey when you stop coloring your hair...some days are great and other days it seems like the “end result” is taking forever. I’ve been growing my gray hair out for 16 months now and I have the grombre going on and I get more women approaching me asking me, “Who does your hair?” “What color is that?” I just giggle and say I’m just letting my gray grow in naturally. I get more compliments now than I ever did with just my dark hair!

Connie Pleasant: Love my grey…it took just about 18 months to grow out and I’m so happy I did. I’ve got the grandma in the front party in the back look too Nikol

Susan Martinez: You are Fabulous! Thank you for this and all your other videos! It took 4 tries for me to finally like my gray hair. If women who are thinking about transitioning they need to look at before and after photos online of women who have gone gray. Women look younger with gray hair because it softens our features. It took me a while to figure that out. Now that I am gray I can wear white but when my hair was red I couldn’t. Go figure. Again, Nickol: thank you for your channel...your enthusiasm...your passion...and your lipsticks!!

Olga Milian: Yes, Nikol, it is exciting, it is FUN ! I beban my journey in march 2020 and, as you say, I receive more compliments now than when I wore my black hair .. and, as you say, there is a completely different woman at the end of the journey. At the beginning, we all think "ohhh looks terrible !! grey hair does not look good on me !" we need to let it grow ... I did the decision to cut my hair very short, that was so helpful ! Thank you for your support .. you have been an inspiration since the very beginning, and you still are ..

Thea Stewart: You are such an inspiration Nikol! A true blessing! Thank you for your words of encouragement. I’m 21 months in and never going back!

Laila Andersen: I stopped dying my hair eleven years ago. I had my first grey colony of hair at the age of 25. That didn't bother me much because it was in my neckline. But... It spread to all my edges over the years by 40 my crown had color but everything else had turned white-ish. I then went through a few years of dying it brown. It became more and more difficult to cover the grey, though, and when I stopped dying it, I had all the brown color extracted. My natural color is a medium/light blonde, with dashes of black strands, and some golden tones as well. That has proven to be a challenge to live with, the combination of various colors on the crown and the (now) transparent white on all my edges makes me look semi bald. I’m not kidding or even exaggerating here. Combined all this with a 40% hair loss due to stress, and I was at the end of my rope. Still am. I caved in and sent for some demi-permanent colorwash from the eSalon. The goal was to even out the difference between the edges and the crown, and it worked somewhat well. Asked for some more grey coverage and a permanent color, and thought I was on the way to happiness here. That did not work out at all! I now have transparent orange edges and my normal color on the crown. I would panic if I could see a point in doing so... I’m open to suggestions. I wouldn't have colored my hair in the first place if my edges hadn't been that transparent white, so this is a complete fail...

Veronica JnMarie: Because of you I've embraced my grey hair. Like you I am grey in front and brown in the back. I keep it in a short bob and am loving it. Never I thought I would. All my friends are grey, after all we are closer to 70. Only thing is being on zoom so many days a week can make it hard to look at those greys so I use a rinse to take out the orange

Haynel Negueruela: It is so true that you start this journey being a woman that grows and transforms into a different woman, I’m so grateful for what I have discovered about myself and my perspective of everything has Evolved in the process...

H. Smith.: I was growing out perm and color for almost two years. My hair was down past my shoulders a couple inches. It was half grown out and I just gave up and cut it all off. SHORT!! Now I'm all natural silver and black. I know I look older but I love how healthy and shiny it is!! My husband of 33 years LOVES it, so that encourages me to stay natural. I still plan on growing it back out to a little past my shoulders. Just with no color.

J B: I started going "white" at 21... I tried coloring it for years and made a few misguided choices and wound up with some interesting results. As more hair turned white, I noticed the the white wouldn't hold color and by the 2nd week, the white hair was white again and the rest was redish/brassy blonde. It was so frustrating. At 38, I decided I was done! That was 20 years ago and I've never looked back. I have to smile when I see young ladies in their 20s trying to achieve what God gave me naturally.

Linda F: Your message is wonderful. I like to think of allowing my grey to come through as a transformation, who I am becoming. Thanks for the wisdom and inspiration. Linda

guaynabicha: Rocking my gray long hair for about 5 years now. It is so empowering! I feel great! ✌

Elaine Eversole: I started going gray in 2013-2014, and never looked back. I wanted all the dye gone by the time I was 55!I love my hair! I love your hair! I have the same haircut! It’s the easiest hairstyle ever!

Betty Lehmann: You are such a great inspiration for women everywhere & at our age . Be who you want to be without feeling ugly .

Hemlock Tea: Gray hair is beautiful

Tay D.: The only thing I regret choosing to grow my hair color out (it’s gorgeous) is all the money I spent hi lighting it …Embrace your beauty.

Linda LaMacchia: Hi Nikol, I recently found your channel and I'm ADDICTED!!!!! I think you are Awesome! I have learned so much about make-up and skin care from binge watching your videos!! I love your channel!! I think you are an amazing uplifting woman:)

Rose Schulze: I can't even begin to tell me I LOVE the new hairstyle! Very chic, flattering, stunning!!

Lee S: I gave this my my best shot ladies! I'm nearly 70, thin fine dishwater blonde hair. I thought I could glide through to silver without a lot of transitioning issues. Wrong. After 18 months I looked drab, and tired without much trophy silver to show for it. Back to my better blonde self 2 weeks ago. My very much younger sister in law is a gorgeous silver pixie cut. I envy all you Trophy Silver Gals!

Diana: A year and a half in, I'm wavering and have been tempted to go back to the box. After watching the video, I think part of the problem is my original goal. I thought my hair would look like my mom's hair - gorgeous, silvery gray - but no, I'm an odd shade of light/medium brown with gray mixed in. My "goal" won't be happening anytime soon, and may never happen. I just realized I have my dad's hair, which is brown with some gray here and there. (He's in his 80s, so that's how his will always be) That must be my "final" color, too, so I guess I'll never reach that goal of my mom's white/silvery gray.

Heather Taylor: Terrified of going grey - I have the finest hair on earth, and its thinning, and its silver, so I can just imagine a silver haired lady with her pink scalp showing through. This is a genuine dilemma for me!

maura ludlow: My favorite saying of yours “gray is a power move.” Thank you!

Sneezy the bobtailed Cat: I’m proud of my gray. I get lots of compliments and some think I colored it.

Annette Marrero-Oliveras: I did my change to gray at 44 and I don't regret it at all! I don't feel like a slave to hair dye, is so liberating.

Jackie McAbee: I love the way you have your hair styled today it’s beautiful ☺️ just like you!!!!! I dream of straight hair but the older I get the curlier it gets

Marie McGrath: I'm 18 mths into transition & loving it, black silver then blond, so many compliments ...

Amy C.: I actually cannot dye my hair unless I use henna. Two years ago, I developed an allergy to hair dye. Still learning to embrace it.

Rosie Pinkcollar: Love this Nikol. I'm going gray three months in now, and cold turkey going with my natural transition. BTW you look beautiful in black.

Cynthia Bercaw: The same people who told women we must dye our hair are the same people who tell us we have to wear makeup.

Sue S.: I really love your hair its very beautiful and healthy. I started having high lights in at 29 as the few grey hair were coming in back then. Now 62 my hair is going a beautiful grey like my grandmother who had beautiful grey hair.I really love not dying anymore . Thank you for this great video ♥

Miriam Alfonso MAP: I feel free now . I just embraced the long way to a new me and I am so happy about that . I actually get hired for the job that I was looking for . . I love your videos .

Tara Blinkhorne: Just love your positive attitude ,and that lipstick is so gorgeous , just wish we had your products in the U.K x

Laura T: I'm in my 6th month. I've been doing home office but soon I'll have to go back to the office. I'm a bit scared and starting to doubt my decision. Thanks for this video. My goal iis to do this for a year and see where to go from there, so I'll keep on going. Thanks for the motivation I really needed to hear all this.

Anna May Tsalikis: I’m so happy with my gray. Thank you for being my “grayru”.

Claudia: You're beautiful with either color but with your silvers ... love it. You have been my inspiration to love and accept my silver highlights even more and not worry of the negative comments I receive, sad to say from some of my family members ‍♀️
