This how to is about choosing and maintaining the perfect red hair color for your skin tone, using Clairol Nice'n Easy.

[, MUSIC PLAYING ] Hi.: This is James, your Clairol color director.. In today's lesson, I'm going to teach you how to get and keep the perfect red color. Red is tricky because, like all color, the skin tone is so important to achieving great results.. But it's most important with red. Red can be both warm -- having orange undertones, -- and cool, which means having violet undertones.. So now that we've got that straight. Let'S take a minute to analyze your skin tone.. If you have an ivory, peaches-and-cream or neutral skin tone, and if you're on the medium to fair side, then you have a cooler skin tone and a vivacious, copper with warm gorgeous locks will look great on you.. If you have yellow or olive complexion. Your skin tone is warm and the reddish-browns to auburns work best for your skin tone. They're, the cooler reds, and we want to work opposite. The skin tone.. If you're, unsure of your skin tone, take a moment to look at the inner part of your wrist. Veins that appear, greenish indicate yellow tones.. If your skin is cool, then your veins appear to be bluish, which indicates a cool skin tone.. Now it's time to talk about your hair., If you have medium to dark brown hair, you need to select a shade of red. That is two levels lighter in order to see the red shade tones within your hair color.. Otherwise, your hair color will overpower your features.. If you have a light brown to dark blond, hair - and you like to add just a hint of redness to your color - then try selecting a demi-permanent red shade and apply to your area. As you would a glaze.. You will want to apply the color as instructed, but here are a few insider tips of mine to help you out., Because Madison has a neutral skin tone and a starting color of light brown. We selected Nice'n Easy 6R110 -- Natural Light Auburn.. This is going to give Madison a vibrant glow and gorgeous red hair.. Ok, let's break it down and go through our instructions. Put on your expert colorer's gloves. Next tear off and discard the tab from the color activator bottle.. Then unscrew the cap. Open the color blend formula bottle and pour the contents in the applicator bottle. Replace the applicator bottle. Cap. Place your gloved finger over the applicator bottle and shake well until the color is totally blended. Draw a small V into your hairline and apply the color mixture to the roots.. Then apply your red shade to your mid-shaft and ends. [. Music PLAYING ] Healthy hair will keep your red hair color longer, so keep that styling down to once per week.. This will also help with the fading. Here's another tip. Better-lasting reds are created by using a separate formula with Natural Instincts, non-ammonia color for the ends.. Now I know this might seem confusing. And you might think that permanent hair color lasts longer because it's permanent., But this is not always the case, especially when it comes to treating the ends of red hair.. Now that you've perfected your red, here's, three quick tips on how to maintain it. Tip number one use red shampoo, --, not just color-safe shampoos, but reds that have a hint of red color to them.. This can be used once a week to preserve your shade in between colorings. Tip number, two refresh with a demi-permanent color like Natural Instincts.. This will re-deposit color. Its like a hair gloss. Using a demi-permanent in between permanent colorings will help. You maintain the vibrancy that you're. Looking for. Tip number three make a cup of red rooibos tea. In addition to color glossings in between permanent colors. This is Mother. Nature'S recipe. Once a week soak two tea bags --. We have one here but you're, using two -- red rooibos tea in six ounces of water. Beet and pomegranate juice. Work too, but today we're using tea. Put this mixture into a spray bottle, spritz it onto the hair and leave it on for 30 minutes. Rinse.. And this will naturally enhance the red undertones in your hair.. It'S safe to use, as often as you want and you can drink it. Too. Delicious. Check out these other videos for more easy home coloring tips from Clairol.. Mama Shiraz: So happy Clairol came out with their new Nice N Easy formula. Conditioners in the product and better after color conditioner. Thank you for switching to a creme color instead of that harsh, messy liquid.

Jennifer Black: The stylist in this has the kindest vibe I've ever seen.

Melissa Torres: I used Clairol red dye (first #6 then #8) for 30+ years. The new formula doesn't adhere, fades within two weeks and completely dried out my hair. For the first time since high school, I am now getting my hair dyed professionally. What a shame to mess with a tried -n- true formula!

florenna: The best red shade is simply the one that looks best on you, simple as that :) All these skintone things lead astray, I'm afraid - good ol' mirror is the best way to see what suits you best! (Obviously it's best to experiment with non-permanent dyes first, to test that.) And refreshing your colour is best done with semi-permanent dyes, not demi-, as all that peroxide just destroys your hair (if you also use a permanent dye, obviously). Oh, and the Rooibos tea was a great tip!

Liz Price: This is a great, no waffle video that's actually helpful, thank you!

Ashley Rodriguez: actually , a lot of professionals say that cooler skin tones need cooler haircolors and warmer skin needs warmer tones , NOT opposite . I myself am a cool tone with dark dishwater blonde hair and blue eyes , I dyed my hair medium auburn that has more red tones than copper , and I look amazing . it really enhances my skin tone a lot .

Sian Powell: Thank you so much ive bleached my hair too go red and know i know the right colour to choose :). Probably the best hair dye video ive seen in forever.

mattiesful: Hi, that color is stunning on her. I have been home dyeing for many years. I use clairol med auburn. I have lots of gray at the root which dyes perfectly. The rest of my hair turns brown! Is there anyway I can achieve this red color throughout? My hair is very baby fine and brittle. TIA!

Emma Winter: This has been the most helpful video on YouTube thank you so much!! Love the 6R shade :)

barbara Hennessy: Pissah what a video, I love your tips , so informative, but every time I’ve tried dying my hair at home, it’s turned orange, it didn’t matter if I went light or dark used ash tones and now I was recently diagnosed with autoimmune disease and I have lost so much hair, I don’t like short hair on myself, I want to color my hair so much, but I’m afraid I will lose more hair. Again great video, very well spoken. Thank you

Gökçe Akosman: Hey,great video. My hair is naturally dark ash blonde and I want to dye it copper. I have very thin hair,by the way. Should I start with my roots or ends in order to prevent "hot roots" ? Thanks in advance.

Jisoo Turtle Rabbit: Hi :) I have been wanting to go red for a while now but I don't know which shade, my hair is a medium brown and my virgin roots are dark brown. If I got this dye, would I get the same results? or should I pick a different shade? should I bleach my hair first? help!

Rio Tobias Deacon: Hey there! I used this a month or so ago and my hair was a light brown/dark blonde and although I wouldn't expect it to be really vibrant, it looked nothing like the colour in this video? Her hair in those pictures were a really beautiful and bright colour but mine went down to a medium reddy brown... Any ideas on how I can make it brighter?

Melanie: This explains why I like warmer haircolor on me!!

Tiff T: So I wanna dye my hair red, but i'm confused on what to do. My under tone is yellow, but right now my skin is very fair. My face is extremely fair but my body is medium (not tan, but not fair). I want to do it during the summer, but I get somewhat tan, so I don't know if I what red would look best on me, a bright red like the lady, or a brown-ish red like auburn (my natural color is dark brown). please help :)

1996vivian: This is a great video! I have naturally grey hair. Can I use this method? Thanks!

muskndusk: For years I've been trying to find a permanent dark coppery red which 100% covers grey, but all I can find are burgundy reds. Any suggestions?

f f: Best advices I have heard❤

Martina D Weatherby: my daughter is wanting to go with red under tones hes got medium brown hair, she is also going to start with the swim team in Aug as a freshman... how do we care for it? Is the chlorine going to effect the shade? How do we maintain healthy hair?

Magpie: What color of Natural Instincts would you use with NicenEasy 6R/110?

Ellanie Ferrari: My hair is pepperd dark brown and grey. last time I colored it it ended up being BRIGHT red in root are! I used the 6r light auburn and left on roots for 25 min then rest of hair for 5. What am I doing wrong?

Lenny The Ghost: i have super pale skin, more than her and dark brown hair, what shade of red should i use?

emi: I've gotta say her red is BEAUTIFUL

Liändrie Steffens: I want to use the 8wr golden Auburn, but I see in my country the box looks very lighter, for light blondes almost and online it looks darker and more vibrant. Is it the same product still?

cromerbeach: I use dark blond and love it

CatC: I was hoping to find out if Medium Copper Blonde is lighter or darker than Medium Reddish Blonde.

Flutter Girl Mystified: Thank you!

PiggybunnyBlu: When Im done, Im going to look like a indian Sansa Stark

s: His voice is so mesmerizing.

Katy: Is it okay to put that 6r auburn shade on like a honey blonde hair color? I have a light complexion and have fair skin and my natural hair color is a medium brown but currently it's bleached to a golden honey brown and u want it to be like the coppery red or just a little bit darker than that.

Zal Sav: My skin color is really difficult to figure out

Mattie McCulloch: I have this hair, but it's natural ::)))

Kathy Romero: I see a green vein, but next to it, there's a really thin blue vein, so... what the hell should I do?

Angela Edwards: How about the red color that grows out of my head?

Crystal Arenivas: I love red…

ZeldaFNAF Girl: I have real red hair.... IM ALMOST EXTINCT xD

Marié Lubbe: Ha ha, living in South Africa the home of rooibos, and it is the first time I heard of the colour wash. So guess who is making tea tonight!

Ilse Alcorta: thanks!

Arshiya Amreen: Blah blah blah to that guy. My comment is that, the girl who dyed her hair red looked 1000 times prettier as a brunette, I tell you.

call sign spirit: Yep! Skin tone

Lexie Lankford: Why would a cool tone person choose a warm red?

Jyoti Tiwari: nice colour

Marie P.: Who else came here just to brag about having natural red hair?

Princess Sho: why people why do you want red hair just be thankful for your own hair colour it sucks being the only one with red hair in my school.

Belizean Gal: I'm cool tone with green veins

Katelynn Murphy: There's a person like whispering in the background of this video, and it really threw me for a loop
