Hello and welcome back to my channel today, i wanted to do a hair, color tutorial, because a lot of you have been asking about my hair, color and i've had the same hair color for over a year now, i've officially gone a year without bleaching, my hair, Which is very exciting because if you do remember last summer my hair was very short and very blonde. That was the lightest my hair has ever been and it definitely caused a lot of damage. So after the summer i decided to go back brunette and really force myself to not bleach my hair for a whole entire year and i'm actually really happy with the chocolate brown hair color. I think it's really flattering and it's like. I finally found my perfect shade of chocolate, so i have been using the john frieda precision foam color. This one is in the shade 4bg, which is the dark chocolate brown. It'S a really nice deep chocolate with some red in it and then i usually mix it with 6n, but target was sold out of 6n, so i got 9n. So i'm really hoping that this still turns out the same. We will see this might be a huge fail, but uh 9n is a neutral undertone. So it's not going to be too orange or too red. It'S going to help kind of cut the red in the 4bg and just make it a little bit more of a all-around chocolate rather than leaning super warm. So i unfortunately do not have a window in my bathroom and it's just, i feel like it's harder for you to see what i'm doing when i color my hair in the bathroom. So i'm gon na. Do it right out here - and i put a bunch of old towels around me, so i'm hoping that i just don't make it a huge mess, but the great thing about this hair color is because it's a foam, uh, there's minimal, drippage minimal mess. It'S really nice boxes come with everything you need so gloves, and then you have your little developer bottle with your dispensing nozzle, and then you also get hair, color and conditioner. I should also let y'all know that my natural hair color is black. I'M half asian my mom's filipino, so i have very dark black asian hair and i just like lightening it a little bit. I just think it adds a little bit more dimension. It just warms up my complexion. I just feel like the chocolate brown is really flattering with my skin tone, so i just like a little bit lighter of a hair color, so i have um the two developer bottles from both colors, i'm just going to mix them together. Add it all into one bottle, i'm going to add in the 9n and then i'm going to add in the 4 bg, then you reattach the nozzle and then, when you're mixing this color, you don't want to shake it. You just want to do turns like this and you'll see the color will start to get fully mixed. I have these little uh disposable, hair capes that i got from cvs. So i'll just put that on bottom section down and then all you do is apply the foam. Oh geez pray for me because i'm not doing this in my bathroom, but i do have that towel underneath me so that luckily the towel just caught all that. So i'm just going to squeeze some hair color into my palm and then you just start applying it and you want to make sure you do get up in that root area as well. So i'll just go like that, i'm telling you! If i filmed this in my bathroom, you would not be able to see anything. It'S so dark in there and then again, more foam and i'm just gon na run this through. If i wasn't filming a tutorial, i would be watching real housewives listening to a podcast i'd, be doing something to entertain myself, but because i'm filming a video i just have to sit in silence and apply this hair color. So i just make sure i always get the root area, but at the end i really go through and make sure all the roots get colored. Because if i don't get my roots, then you will see like black stripes in my hair, because my hair grows out really dark. And then i just let down the last section of hair and i'm doing the same thing. I'M just going to apply the foam. All the way down and honestly because it's a foam, it's extremely minimal mess like there, was only that little bit of drippage at the beginning, but it doesn't, you know, fling everywhere and you don't have to worry about staining your bathroom. This is really flattering so now that i've gotten my hair pretty much fully covered with color. What i want to do is go back in with a little bit more color make sure everything is completely saturated so that there's no patches. So i'm going to take a little bit more foam and just like this, i'm going to massage it into the roots. It'S almost like you're shampooing, your hair honestly make sure you take a little bit extra foam and really get up in the back of your hair. So that you don't have any gaps of color when you're doing like half up half down styles, honestly, like i, am washing my hair on camera for you, that is what it looks like and what it feels like all right now that my hair is fully saturated In the color - and you can see it looks foamy, that's what you want. You want to be able to see the foam in the hair. If you don't have like a foamy looking hair, it means you don't have enough color. So with this foam hair color, you want to make sure that your hair looks pretty sudsy like this. Now, what i'm going to do is i'm just going to clip it up and i'm going to let this process for about 25 to 30 minutes and then i'm going to wash and shampoo my hair, like usual all right. So it's been a few days and i really wanted to let my hair color settle down. I really wanted to wash it a couple times so that you could get the most accurate representation of what the color looks like. I really feel like, after about two to three washes: it hits the sweet spot of the perfect chocolate brown, whereas the first wash it still looks a little bit black. It'S quite dark because all the pigments are still you know, really fresh. So this is like my ideal shade of chocolate brown. I like how you get the multi-dimensional strands and it's not all just one. You know flat shade of brown. I don't have a black root line anymore and it's really just so pretty it's my favorite favorite chocolate brown. Ever i'm really excited that the number 9n ended up working out because, like i said i do typically do 6n. But i'm actually super happy with this and i think it looks identical to the way it always does. I color my hair, probably about every two months to two and a half months. Sometimes i can stretch it out for three months and a really great way to keep your color looking really vibrant and punchy is to use color, depositing conditioners or glazes. So some of my personal favorites, the john frieda luminous color glaze, spoken about that many times. Dpq makes a really great one as well, and then goldwell has one too. I use all three of those brands they're. All in my shower. I don't like bringing stuff out of the shower, because i just don't like the water, and it's just you know what i mean, but you've seen me talk about all of those on my channel before. So that's what i would recommend in between colors, if you start noticing it fading just start using color, depositing conditioners, maybe once a week twice a week depending on your hair type, and the other thing i really want you to take into consideration. Is your starting hair? Color, the hair color is going to look a little bit different depending on what your base color is and what you're starting with. So if you have a similar hair color to mine, you'll probably get like this exact same result. Whereas if you have a lot lighter or a lot darker, it could vary in the way the color is going to look as the final result. I think that's everything i wanted to hit in this tutorial. So if you do have any questions, please feel free to leave them down below and, like i said this is the exact color combo minus it being 9n. I typically use 6n. This is the exact color. I'Ve had all for since last august, so when you see it in its different stages, where it starts fading or it's a little bit darker, it's always been the same color. It just looks different throughout the stages that i have it, and it does fade a little bit more on the ends of my hair, because that's where all that underlying blonde pigment is so a lot to say in this one. I really hope you found it helpful. Please be sure to check the description box because i'll have links and more information, and just all the stuff that i used in the video and please come follow me on instagram as well. I'D also love it if you'd subscribe to my channel, but other than that. I will see you in my next one. Thank you so much for watching this. One bye, guys

Kel: Please review Selena’s rare beauty line!!!!!!!!! I’m begging u, ur so informative!!! ☺️❤️

Olivia Whitley: Just used your 6N/4BG combo and let me say, you have changed the home hair dying game! Finally the chocolate brown I've been searching salon and box for. Dark and sultry inside, with a tease of brighter chocolate hues under lights. Bright and rich chocolate outside in the daylight. I've been looking for something to give my bland, dark brown color some depth and personality that doesn't darken it even more. This is it!! Thank you!

Gabriela Ramirez: Ive been looking for the perfect chocolate brown and this is just it! It looks BEAUTIFUL on you :)

Katie W: Looooved this, I used to color my hair all the time in high school and I kind of miss the box color process!! You look stunning, that brown is so glossy and radiant, gorgeous

R J: Thanks for the video! I just finish dying my hair using the same formula. Pretty easy because I have natural black and coarse Mexican hair, my hair was virgin hair, came out exactly like hers, just without the dimensions because I don’t have any highlights. Love how it turned out❤️

Inyoung Garner: I just did this exact thing on my virgin black hair and even though it didn't lift it as much as yours did, I'm still in love with the color. I'm thinking about putting slightly lighter highlights on top!

Sweets_Bcn: I love the color! I am definitely going to try it!! Thanks for the tutorial

Mariam E.: I just tried this combo: 9N+4BG on my dark brown almost black hair. The turn out is pretty good! My roots really soaked up the color and it is more on the brown side rather than on the redish like hers. I think with a few washes as she said the color might change, we’ll see! But I am happy with the result. I suggest to comb the product through your hair during the application, it’s the only thing I wish i did :)

Evie Tomas: It looks so beautiful! My hair is dark brown, wavy and I’m mixed race! I might try this in the future.. currently growing my hair out x

Marisela Bennett: My hair is also naturally very dark and I have always wanted to lighten it up a little but nothing crazy, so this is the perfect chocolate tone. I Love it and thank you so much for sharing the colors you use to obtain it. I will be ordering them on amazon yay! I'm excited :)

Angie Ramirez: So excited you finally made this video! Thanks, so helpful! Would love if next time you dye your hair with 6N you make another one to show us the difference. Just a thought. Thanks again

Miss A: I’ve heard really good things about JF hair color. This color looks so natural and is perfectly enhancing your features, eyes and skin tone. Super flattering & beautiful on you. I think I’m going to go one shade up from yours and do what you did mixing with an N. Thanks so much for this video. I just watched the ending and omg it looks amazing!!!! I was so nervous with the lighter N. Seems like it’s a fool proof product! Great job!! You should be a model. You’re so pretty. Thanks for not torturing us in the bathroom lol, you looked flawless in the process. Makes me feel confident I can do this without being a hot mess dripping everywhere and destroying a bathroom. Lol thx

Kim Chau: Thank you so much for this tutorial, Dacey! Just wondering why you mix the 4BG Dark Chocolate Brown with the 9N or 6N if your desired colour is chocolate brown? Thank you! PS. Love your videos!!! ❤️

Vivian: That’s the perfect chocolate brown!!! I can’t wait to try this!

Yessi M: Woah! How did you think to mix the brown hair dye with the blonde? I had never heard of anyone doing that. It comes out beautiful

Steph Collings: I love this! I'm half filipino as well and I feel like I would be able to achieve very similar results with these dyes! Thanks for walking us through your hair dye process ❤️

Suzy Toledo: Looks stunning! Just ordered them on amazon thanks for this video

Amy Young: So lovely Dacey. Bravo! I didn't know you could mix two formulas together. You're brave, a pioneer and inspiration for me to do more coloring myself. Thanks

stellar: omg this looks stunning on you i've been watching so many hair vids to find the right shade and this is perfect for u

Rose Espinoza: I absolutely love how this came out. You are gorgeous as always

piachu02: Omg I am Filipino too and you make me want to color my hair bc that looked soooo easy. I have never colored my hair so I’m kind of scared and not sure about the upkeep but wow it looks so good and so easy I am seriously considering it! Thanks for the quality content Dacey!

Baya Elsa: Omg yay thank you! Doing this tonight. Was sick of overpaying at the salon

jeanette reyes: Hi Dacey thanks for the video! I would’ve never thought to mix two different colors like that. I was wondering though if you’ve ever used the 6N by itself? I need to cover my outgrown balayage and wonder if that would be best to use alone.

Megan S: I have used this kind before and really liked it, I never thought of mixing a blonde color in! What a great idea. I’m going to try it

G. G.: Oh my goodness I LOVE this!!! I’m def. trying it!!! THANK YOUUUUUUU!!!!! This color is GORGEOUS on you!!

Mercurychick: Your hair looks so healthy despite the coloring! I def will give this brand a try.

Lina H.: This colour is just so flattering on you. And your hair is so healthy !!!

mayra jaimes: Thank you for being so helpful ‘I definitely need to get my hands on these products ✌

Slenna Yong: I love the outcome of the color it’s so pretty

Namita .R: I tried hair colouring for the first time. I have similar hair colour as yours. I tried 4BG it’s suit me so well. Thank you for making it easy ♥️

Every Haircolor: This is indeed perfect haircolor!

Karen Ellsworth: Hi Dacey, I love your hair color! Just wondering does mixing the 6n make the chocolate brown not so red?

Ashley Collins: I’m Half Filipino too with your same natural hair color! I also bleached my hair and trying to find a video about dying my hair back to brunette. This was the perfect video I didn’t know I needed! ❤️ thank u

Sara: Beautiful and would love to try it out and thank you for sharing ☺️

ym: I am in love with this colour, so exotic and unique!

Isamar: This color looks so pretty on you. My natural hair color is dark brown and I always go darker (blue black) instead of lighter

Claudia Dassy: I love how that color came out on your hair! I am looking to do this same color, but have grays. I do have something similar to this, but I used an RV tone. I am wondering if this would provide coverage for the grays? Or if not, what would you add?

TwistedBarbie: That is a stunning colour, beautiful lights in it. I used to be strawberry blonde but have turned light brown over the years. I just went lighter but I just don't like it. This is just the sort of warm, pretty brown that I'm looking for.

Samantha Byler: You are out here doing the Lord's work! I'm so happy I need to get rid of the blonde in my hair and I was not looking forward to figuring out how and which brand. And you have the prettiest hair #GOALS thanks for sharing. It's super helpful!!

Polly Pocket: I went and bought this hair color! Yours looks buttery and silky nice

BronxGirl NY: Hoping Dacey reads this comment, we need a new updated hair color video. Frieda h/c has been discontinued at most drugstores due to it not selling as well as the others.

Angela Geikowski: Yes I love it thanks for sharing it’s beautiful and I have also have dark black hair but it’s usually hard to keep color because it’s so dark I’m gonna try this for sure the next time I color my hair.I just colored mine like a soft black because I feel like browns never looked right or they are too orange on me or are just not the right shade. Also I have some grey hair on my roots and around my hair line so I color my hair pretty often ugh.

Ms_PG: I would never have thought to add the blonde colour... interesting! The result looks so good, I love it

Abbie Wheatley: The colour looks lovely x

Ella Zuniga: Love this video! I really wanted to start dying my own hair rather than going to the salon bc I only get one color and feel like I could potentially do it on my own! However, how often do you get your hair cut? Do you cut your own hair?

JAY: Omg the color is I’m definitely going to try this ! By the way you look beautiful the color suits you !

Darcy G: Hi Dacey - are you still using the John Frieda 4BG and 6N? Your hair is gorgeous!

Diana Luong: I love your hair color and how your styled it!! I'm excited for your next video!!

Jordan Star: Just picked these colors up to do this tonight! Will let you know how it goes. Feel the warmth would look really good for fall

Katie Chambers: Looks gorgeous! I need to touch up my hair before school starts, it’s starting to look scary!

Mayra J: Dacey, thank you so much for this tutorial. I haven’t touched my hair since March but my hair color is all over the place. Dark Brown roots are out, faded hair color & Untouched bleached hair. In order to succeed, Do you think I should stay with both of your tones 4BG & 6N or should I go darker this first time then gradually move towards your shades? If so, what darker tone would you suggest? Thank you in advance.

maryam alshamsi: Hello. First, your hair looks stunning!! The question I have is do you color it again entirety every two months or just roots touch up?

kromatic: Sure, blonde hair adds dimension to your hair but I think dark hair is so sultry. ‍♀️

Tiara Priscarani: Your hair color has always been my inspo haha thanks for this video Daceyy

brightphoebus: John Frieda make great products. I discovered their volumizing conditioner and it works instantly to puff my hair up. Nourishing conditioners can make it quite flat. This colour looks gorgeous. I noticed that you start with the underside, is that what makes the underside come out darker for you? Does it get darker the longer you leave the dye on? For me because I dye my hair from light to dark rather than dark to light, I start on the underside so that the top will be a little paler, also I start at the roots and leave that to sit for 20 mins before pulling it through the lengths, otherwise the lengths get overdyed. I also have to do my roots every TWO WEEKS!! A bit of a hassle, but I have nothing better to do, so I enjoy it.

Gypsy Melange: I love this color! My hair is a copper tone at the moment but I am wanting to get this result. Do you recommend the same 4BG/9N combo or should I do the regular 4BG/6N?

Kortney Ma: Omg !!!! I’m so happy you posted this!! You got me on the L’Oréal mega browns and they don’t make it anymore your the best at hair ! Thank you so much!

Erica N. Padilla: Wow i would be so scared to mix a blonde hair dye into my chocolate brown. Never knew it would help. Great tutorial

Leah Montgomery: i think your hair is gorgeous and i used the john frieda for years!! it’s so flattering

Jenni G: I love how she mix the color.. That beautiful chocolate brown it gives it that chocolate hues colors.

Donna Menlo: I'm always obsessed with your hair. especially since we're about the same skin tone. (I'm a tad darker) haha

Nathaly Torrijos: You trying rare beauty and informing us = I’m definitely going to be buying stuff from the line ❤️

Devin Sims: You look amazing in this color

Erica Abela: How different are the color results when you use 6N instead of 9N?

Bree Rigby: I have dark brown hair but recently did a cool tone blonde balayage. Would this combo be safe to do on the deeper blonde parts?

Pittsburgh girl: I love your dark brown. It looks gorgeous on you

g fernandez: I’m definitely doing this!! Should I use the 6N if I’m not wanting my hair as light? I’m scared of my hair getting toooo light, it doesn’t flatter me. Looks gorgeous on you

Jamylle Mendes: Gonna try this dye instead!!! Gorgeous

Faith: I know I’m late but do you have any suggestions for those that are blonde but love a dark brown look? I currently have my hair dark & LOVE it, but don’t want to keep going to a salon to get it done. My only issue is my hair pulls red & very warm when I go darker & I hate that, would love to keep it more neutral.

christina hale: May I ask what the purpose is of adding the blonde and brown together? I love the outcome

Nolvia Villegas: I love it thank you so much

sanders18: I have natural black hair too! So if I do this, I’d have the exact same color!

Thuy: You got me on this hair color .. just ordered it

Atziri Hannon: I tried this and my hair did get a bit warmer however I ended up with hot roots. Do your roots last! I’ve watched enough Brad Mondo to know better. I’m going to try and darken the roots and if that fails I’ll just go black lol #quarantinelife

Mela: I love this. Thank you so much

desorden1501: Love it! Is there a reason why you mix those two colors? I’m interested in dying it this chocolate brown and I was wondering if the mixing of the two colors was just specifically for you or for anyone!

Julie Albert Roussel: I have dirty blond roots color and the rest is a mix of dark brown, red and blond highlights. Would the combination of the 2 work or just stick with the brown colour so since I have blond highlights and blond roots? Would you recommend doing my roots first or after since it's dirty blond? Thanks! Love your hair

Ashley Shannon: This is gorgeous!

Kelsey H: I’m new here! Do you use the brunette John Frieda luminous glaze or the clear? Thank you! ❤️

Angie Orozco: Dacey, you are seriously the most beautiful person ever! Inside and out. I love your personality!!!

Girl And Her Cat: Hey Dacey. Does the JF lighten your dark hair to the chocolate brown or is it lightened because you had highlights prior?

Rachael Griffen: When you first did this, was it on your natural hair or blonde? I also have black hair naturally and am not sure this would work to lift darker hair.

Shaira Golong: ooo I didn't know western box hair dyes have a foam hair dye...I've always used a Japanese Box Foam Hair Dye, because they're so easy to use and I always love the results I get, the one that I used is called Liese. But I'm gonna check this John Frieda one for sure!

Rachel I: Perfect, so gorgeous! You are so talented! Do you have any grays yet? Just curious how it covers grays?

schmonicasays: Hi Dacey! What shampoo, conditioner, and other hair products do you use?

Chantelle Rognon: I love your channel!!! I'm definitely going to binge your videos tonight

Mariel Colley: You should consider doing this with normal hair dye so that you can pick the developer.

Lucas Devenney: Going to buy this right now!

Jerica Andres: I just watched your last hair dye video! I just dyed my hair chocolate brown yesterday

Saera K: Can you show us how you use the glazes you mentioned? thank you ❤️

Beauty by MJ: This is the perfect color! I want to try it on virgin hair but idk if it would be this perfect

Cynthia Hernandez: I have really long hair... would it be okay to mix two of each? I haven’t dyed my hair in 6 years... I’m so excited!

Chandelle Ross: You're so blessed, beautiful skin hair and face...perfect chocolate brown deffs❤

Emine Keskin: Looove your content, I always look forward to your videos❤️

J R: You are so pretty!!! The color turned out beautifully. What type of shampoo and conditioner would you recommend to care for colored hair?

molly rose green: Hey do you still whiten your teeth and if so, what teeth whitener are you currently using?

Marie L.: Ooooooh please do a my jewelry collection video! I loooove your necklace and I think all your jewelry suits you perfectly

Karina A: Hi Dacey! Is the John Frieda colors damaging for your hair?

Rochelle Frankson: Hii! Do you think mixing in 5n with 4bg will be okay? For some reason 6n won’t ship to me…. Btw, love you and your Channel! ♥️♥️♥️

Gülsüm Budak: Omg your hair looks sooo beautiful en shiny Could you make a tutorial on how your hair is so beautiful and shiny and which products you use
