Hey there,

My name is Jessyka with a YK. In this video i'm showing you my DIY on how i toned my brassy orange highlights to a light brown. I'm not a professional or an expert, just someone who got a messed up dye job and is fixing it at home.

I was inspired by The Bilancia who influenced me to try the product she used in her video:

Hi guys welcome back to my channel, and today we are going to take this orange ass, highlight hair and tone it into a more ashy looking color. So i recently got my hair done at the salon and i asked her for brown light brown highlights um. I was looking for more of a ombre and a balayage type of deal, but i got highlights from the root all the way down: lots of highlights, lots of bleach and a very orange looking grassy brown red color. I really don't even know what to call this, but have no fear i'm going to try and get these tones out of my hair and get my hair looking a little bit more. What'S the word, um neutral a little bit more neutral, a little bit more muted, a little bit more cool toned instead of these brassy orange highlights so come along on this journey with me, and i really hope that this product that i got works out because i Saw somebody else on youtube use it and it worked for her. So hopefully it works. For me i got the joyco color intensity in titanium. This is a semi permanent cream, colorant um, no developers required. So i've got my gloves on. Oh wait. Let me read the instructions, because i really don't know. Okay, so it says, apply to clean dry hair, a quarter of an inch from scalp process for 20 minutes for optimum results, use with defy damage pro series system for maximum br vibrancy, pre-lightened hair prior to application. Ooh for improved longevity process with heat and rinse. Well, you know i'm gon na be lazy and probably not use heat. So let's go ahead and get into this okay, it's coming out kind of like a bluish grayish like a slate gray color. If we think of like color theory or whatever my hair is so dark that it's not going to turn it gray, okay, so i'm pretty much done, i think, for now i still have a little bit left. My hair is pretty long. This is the four ounces by the way, so i do have another backup of that. I think that everything is covered as well as it's going to be on this first trial. Oh lord, this scares me okay, so now i have to let this sit for 20 minutes, so i'm gon na set a timer and i'm gon na chill hi guys. So this is my hair after i've toned it, and i think that it really did a great job. I might tone it just one more time just to give it a little bit more of that. I don't know just a little bit more of a smoky feel. Um, but i'm really really happy with the way that it turned out. This is kind of what i wanted from the get-go and i got something else um. I feel like she's, just still like a huge chunk here, but it's fine. We can work with it um. Let me go ahead and show you the back. Let me show you what the back is looking like. This is the back. I hope you can tell a major difference. Um yeah this is, i mean honestly, i'm i'm pretty pleased with it. I'M i'm happy with this. This is what i wanted. I i wanted it to be darker. I wanted it to be closer to my natural color. I think that the product that i used worked great um. I only left it on for 20 minutes, so i feel like. Maybe if i left it on for like 30 minutes 35 minutes, then maybe i could have gotten it just a little bit more a little bit darker and a little bit more um of that, like peekaboo kind of vibe that i was looking for so overall pretty Happy with it, i'm glad that i was able to fix my hair, because i was honestly really nervous um and i did not know how to get rid of uh that bleached kind of orangey look because i've never done something like toning, my hair before so honestly. It was kind of overwhelming and scary for me and i will go ahead and give credit to that girl whose video i watched. I can't remember her name right now, but i will leave her video in the description um, because it was because of her video that i found that product and was able to do this all right. Thank you. So much have a good one and see you next time. You

Blue: Very impressed with the results. Last time I got highlights at a salon (5ish yrs ago) I ended up with orange hair like this. So disappointed because I could have done that all by myself for A LOT less than the near $400 I spent. Now I just lighten my hair a couple shades, and am looking for a toner to help. Will try this!!!

Alexandra Castaneda: I love watching your videos and all the different themes/topics you touch on! I agree that product did a 180 on your hair! It looks terrific!

Cecilia Garza: Loved the results! Do you still continue to use this product? If so how often would you say I have to apply it after each application?

dalton phillips: I got highlights last night and ended up getting ORANGE highlights instead. This video and product saved me! Thank you so much for putting this video out. I no longer look like a freaking calico cat. My hair came out so soft as well. ❤️

Vanessa Vendetti: Absolutely amazing transformation!!

Bridget Scileppi: Wow! Looks amazing! You still have color variation, but the brass is gone. Sadly, I had a hair stylist get me to my perfect hair color combination & move hours away. New stylist = me needing this product. Thank you!

LA Falcon: Currently working on how to fix my hair color. I wanted honey brown balayage. End getting copper highlights. Now it’s looking like brassy penny color. Definitely trying this method.

Tracy D: This happened to me. Almost identical. No root smudge and brassy af. I called up and went back. They should of fixed it for free. I understand not all scenarios are the same. That color highlight is the only color I can’t work with. If it was redder ok, cooler ok, lighter ok, darker ok but not that. It came out really nice.

Wild Flower: How long does the effect stay in your hair before needing to re-do? thanks!

Rebecca Coddington: It looks great carful of toning to much ash can turn your hair green

pepperoniseas: Thank you for this video! May I know why you decided not to mix it with conditioner? I did see the bilancia's vid and she used conditioner.. thank you for your help!

Melissa Danielscuellar: Thanks

Arianna Cacciatore: You did a good job on your hair looks Better

Arianna Cacciatore: I had the same problem at the salon and i ask for a Little shatush i had box dyed dark hair. And After the Bleach some sections of my hair are totaly fryed and look copper blonde.

Monica Sos: Looks great.

L Trujillo: My hair came out like this because it was dyed black box dye. Was yours dyed black before? Going blonde is a huge process if it's black before.

sheislove144: Not gonna lie i love this hair before

Ed: Great job EQ 4ABN Toner from Redkem is great too.

virginia Sanchez: Maybe tell the hairstylist you need instead of asking just for highlights.

Boop: Orange is my kill
