Hey, what's up everybody, so this is part two of dyeing your hair from blonde back to dark. Again, I did a video not too long ago about how to dye your hair from blonde back of dark and there's a ton of questions, a comment. So I'm gon na do part two of that video. So today I have two sections of hair: both blonde both the same tone, both human hair and I'm gon na show you what happens when you fill your hair and then color it filling it the right way, and how do me the wrong way, looks so I'm Gon na fill in this extension with a 6cr this one right here from shades eq, and why am i gon na do that? Because if anyone who is this blonde is originally or you were really dark before you know that it took some time. So you went through the red faces and the orange faces and yellow phases. We need to put those missing pigments back into the hair again for those of you who are skeptical, and you don't believe me, I'm gon na do a side-by-side comparison of what happens when you do it the right way and when you do it the wrong way. So give me a second mix up the color and I'll be right back alright guys. So I have the two strands of hair right here. This is obviously my 6er, and this is just my 3n over the top. So, as you can see, this is pretty warm a lot of red a lot of copper in there. Okay, if you're doing this at home, don't get scared cuz! You are going dark, so don't worry, you're gon na be putting color over top of this this one. If you can see is actually getting a little greenish already, so this is gon na be an issue. I'M gon na show you guys how to fix this once we wash it out and dry, and I can show you the tone what to do. If this is actually you - and this happened to you - so don't get scared, you can always fix color. It'S not like a haircut where, once you cut four inches off, you only wanted two inches off. You got to wait for that two inches to go back, so another thing I wanted to touch on is a lot of questions of comments. In my other, video that you can see right here was um was directed towards what kind of color they should use. I like to use a semi or a demi-permanent when I'm filling so I'll use jzq, and this one there's no need for a permanent color. If you are gon na use, a permanent color five-volume is plenty just to fill it in. I do. I did use a 10 volume when I put the three on the top at the other other section of hair. Another thing that filling your hair will do for you. It will help your hair from fading. So just know if you put a filler in and then you put the color over top of it, you're gon na almost fill in that missing porosity in the hair as well. So it's in a better condition to accept the other color molecules. Now, when you just throw a color on top of it, like this you're gon na have some gaps in porosity. You'Re gon na see that and when I painted that I saturated the hair you're gon na see throughout the hair, when I, whenever rinse it out and dry it where that, where it's a little spotty as opposed to when I'm completely done with this particular section of Hair, how it looks in terms of consistency of the color from the full hair strand, because we filled it first so guys I have about 10 minutes left for these colors to process, so I'll, be right back with some finished results for you well, halfway results! Alright! So I am back here is my 6cr, and here is my three end without filling. So, if you could see it's like a little spotty, it's a little muddy right, it's not the prettiest of rounds, and this is what you're left with after you fill the color. Don'T get scared a lot of you at home, we're gon na do this and flip out, because your hair is bright orange. This is only the first step. You still have one more step. You have to do to get the dark brown now this color isn't the prettiest. Obviously I just showed you, oh, you know here's a close-up of the color in a picture, so all I'm doing now is taking that same color, that's same 3n! I'M just doing the final coat of color on top of this section of hair want to make sure when you're home you're truly saturating your hair, and I feel that you know after you're done filling it. You should dry your hair all the way and then add the color on there just to get rid of any extra water. You cavern here which may dilute the color so just be sure to dry it. You know a hundred percent and then put your final color on and then we'll be back with the final results, all right so we're all set. We did both sections of hair. Here is the section we filled, and here is a section that would just put color on so. Let'S take an up-close look at the one we've filled, so, as you can see, looks a little more, even it's a little shinier, a little healthier all that copper and all that all those red tones are all out of the hair. So those of you people out there who filled your hair and now you get nervous before you start step. Two just know that all that orange and red covers over completely and then here is the section we just through color on and it doesn't actually look as bad as I thought. I'M not sure if you can see like the little hint of like green in there. Okay, it's just not as pretty or shiny, and it looks a little more splotchy reason being is like I said before, because you didn't fill the hair a lot of that filler and that semi-permanent fills in the porosity of the hair. So it helps absorb and take the color a little better. So here's a side-by-side look. You look almost the same. Not that much different. It'S just one is that little tint of green in it once pretty neutral and dark. So, just to recap, I used a 6cr from Shady Q to fill and then a3n from magic, color and then on this particular section. I just threw on three and rig over the top of it. I will show you guys how to take out that little green tint in the next video, so if you want to click in the link below for that video I'll, have that uploaded as well. For you, alright guys, thanks for watching any questions or comments, please feel free to leave comments below and until next time, I'll see you later

Sarah H: Thanks for posting this and not bashing on people who are doing it at home. Sometimes you gotta live and learn. Appreciate you. ❤️

R J: Thanks for sharing a side by side comparison. Although I already had knowledge of these outcomes from being a DIY serial colorist, but it reinforces my decision to embrace a natural hair journey from going from blonde to my natural dark roots. It’s time for me to embrace my dark hair. Thanks for pointing out that you used a 6CR I’ve been having problems looking for a suitable Demi color and seeing how a 3N looks, it’s looks great like a natural black. Perfect.

Lauriana: THANK YOU. I shouldn’t have gone blonde during quarantine/: boredom struck

Clarita's World I: Wow! You did a great job on explaining why we should fill our hair and not get worried when we see the orange hair. Thank you so much for making this video! I know now how to darken my blonde highlights ! :)

Valerie Dardon: thank you for making this so simple! i cant afford to get my hair done professionally & im so ready to go back to brunette after my blonde moment.

Paige Cuprak: I just went to a salon to get my hair dyed from a level 10 blonde to black. I went in knowing a bit of information about filling so was expecting to have my hair filled first. When I asked about filling, my stylist said it wasn't necessary and I didn't question it... so she just put a level 3 mixed with like a level 5 (I think) right onto my hair. It looked okay and she said that the next appointment I'd be able to get it darker, but I expected it to only take one appointment. Anyway once again I didn't say anything. I washed my hair the other day for the first time since getting it done and it already has a greenish-grey tint :( I'm really sad. Is there a way for me to fix it? And was my stylist right when she said that or do you have to do the filling every time? Thank you so much for your time!

Michelle Tenney: Thank you so much for this video I followed step by step and got great results. I dyed my bleached blonde hair that was (I believe) called platinum, it was similar color to the strand you used. I died it with semi permanent and It turned a bad muddy/green and it looked sooooo dull. Luckily it faded quickly and I was able to do this... with this i got amazing results using ur tips on tones/ color wheel thank you

Faith With Vivian: I did this at home and actually did it right ! Listen to him I’ve done it the wrong way years ago my hair turned green. I have a video on it on my channel

Kate Hicks: Thankyou for this video! I’m currently at the orange stage already as that’s what I wanted my hair as but am going brown today! You’ve helped so much! X

Bella Diaz: Im totally sitting here with dye in my hair lol it took literally hours to do my extensions and hair. I had to strip the arctic fox colors, fill in with a protein red filler then put ion color brilliance in it. Im excited to see! Thank you so much for your help. I took selfies with the orange filler bc It was kinda cute lol

Tess Kane: this is exactly what I was looking for!! Thank you!

Kelly Loves Winter☃️ -the idol-: Hey Nick thank you for the informative video! I was wondering what product we can use to fill our hair? I've searched some online at there are products like "Neutral Protein Filler" from Colorful, would I have to purchase a product that is specifically made for filling? Or would it be okay to purchase a dye (semi, demi, perm)?

Valerie Ramirez: Thank you!!!!! Very detailed & straight to the point!!

Leilani B.: THANK YOU FOR THIS!! I was about to make the mistake of throwing on color over my lightened hair. I sent you a DM on instagram with a question about my hair since it’s not quite as blonde as the video here. Hope that’s okay!

Nina: Thank you! I’m going back to uni and we’re not allowed coloured hair so I’ve been figuring out how to go back to my original black hair without damaging it

Amy Stay: I just took the advice of this (could not find the exact red/orange color but it totally worked! Thank you for posting this video! Definitely works if you have bleached dark hair and want to go back to your roots!

Bridget Espinoza: Thank you so much for explaining everything! Made so much sense! I have a few questions if the person wants to go back to blond one day would it be better to use a 3N Demi permanent instead of permanent? And if the person has outgrown roots should I use 6% Developer for the whole head? Or different developers for the red/orange and different developer for the roots (hope I make sense)

Brad H: Excellent video. If I want the end result to be a light ash brown, should I still fill with an orange/red? I was going to use a more neutral demi-permanent blonde as a filler along with a neutral protein filler to get my hair to a comfortable middle ground. I'm just curious if I should still add a small amount of red or orange to avoid any green potential, or if those are going to cancel each other out too much regarding the ash quality.

SMV: Thank you so much for this, I was planning on just putting box dye over my bleached hair LOL

Sena Uslu: Thank you so much! I was afraid of the greenish color if i dye myself. And you made my fear go away:D

L T: Hi Nick love all or your videos! Thanks for sharing I’m a Cosmo student and have a really hard time understanding the process of filling hair. At school we were taught that when filling hair to use a chart, and to only go up to levels at a time when filling to then apply that permanent color. And after seeing this it makes more sense to me then the way I’m being taught at school. My question is do I need to use the chart? Sorry I’m just lost Please Help

Eva LaRaine: Thank you! Will the black stay rich or how do you upkeep it? I've had platinum and bleach blonde thirty years but recently developed a bleach powder allergy. I thought I could lift my level 5 roots to a strawberry blonde with just a high lift but my hairdresser said it'll still be orange without bleach. So black it is! But I don't want to look faded in a week. Appreciate your help and advice so much

Louise W: THANKYOU SO MUCH OMG, I’ve been searching and searching for ways to go back to my brown hair, but everyone kept saying tone it tone it, and then others were saying put a red over it then dye it brown, then I’ve come across this video and it’s helped me so much, I’m not stressed out as much I was lmao, so thankyou so much, I’m off to buy my hair dye and dye my hair brown again☺️

IzzieDwora: Hi, hope you’re alright, I went from blonde to brown straight from a box dye, obviously now knowing I missed the red stage of the colour. However, now my hair keeps getting lighter and lighter after every wash is there anything I can do to stop/slow it down? Thanks

Mrs North Star: This video was so informative thank you so much. Would you mind telling me how a very pale bleach blonde like me could get a golden strawberry blonde? Would I fill with a golden blonde and some sort of red? Also VERY VERY grateful if you could tell me how to lift the level 6 roots without bleach. Such as a color that lifts a few shades. Thank you for your time

Wanda Maldonado: Thanks! So helpful, I have had platinum blonde hair for 4 months but I miss my dark hair and I just decided to go back! I have an appointment with my hair dresser this weekend and I feel guilty telling her I want to go back cause I feel like she worked so hard to achieve that perfect platinum blonde! Is it possible for a hairdresser to feel disappointed that a client changes their mind about their hair?

Crying Canary: This is super helpful! Thank you!

Neetta Vaidhya: Great practical explanation x

Jen Youngling: LOVE you tutorial...wish I would have watched it before my debacle! Sooo...used esalon. Was blonde and wanted a honey highlighted brunette to end. Was sent a filler, and it didn't seem to fill anything, and a demi permanent brunette. After the color was added...I was carrot orange with a green hue. I contacted them and was sent another box...containing a blue pearl and brown. I don't think they put enough of the blue pearl in it because I'm still fairly orange (estimating a level 7), and the green hue is still there. I'm DONE with esalon now. How do I fix this....I heard you say something about a chestnut brown. Should I get the chestnut brown and use a level 10 developer? Please help...can send you pics if you'd like to see.

Angel Veil: I truly hope you'll still see this and help me out asthis video was super informative so, at July I went to get balayage done and the lady did me nasty so I had to cut my long long hair to a lob and I colored it to light Brown (6.1 with 3% developer) and everything was ok but two front pieces turned Like greenish when the color started to wash out and I dk how to fix it because I can't go to the hair salon cause I've spent my last penny on balayage and trying to fix the damage she has done ( I colored my own hair, Got it cut by a different professional) and all I can is buy myself a haircolor and try to fix it. i would love to go Like chocolate Brown with redish tint or something but IDK what to do with these green parts

JimBearOne: The biggest difference will show as you wash it and some fading sets in, the hair that was not filled will fade faster and exhibit greenish tones, the filled strand will fade less and look natural with a slight warming of the color.

Rony Mardaras: Hello! I already have my hair in a copper tone that is not as intense as the one in the video (I bleached it a while ago) could I put a medium brown on top of the color I already have, without having to take it to a lighter tone? I would also like to know if the brown fades over time. thanks!

Julie Kim: Thank you for the awesome tutorial!

Camila Hernandez: Thank you for this video! So useful!

Saffy: This was SO helpful!! Thank you!! I wish I would have watched this before I went to Sally's... I bought a protein filler in warm brown. Will that work as my step before I actually use my brown hair dye and developer??

Amy K.: I thought the two colors looked VERY different in the end! I could see a huge improvement in the one you filled

Alex Riley: Question! For the filler can you use any kind of red? Or is there a specific range to use? And should you shampoo in between the filler and permanent colour?

Ashley Ashley: Thank you for stating that I should add my final color on dry hair as many say I should add the color on wet hair for even saturation.

Charelle Braem: Hey! thanks for the video :) i'm actually balayaged blonde with a 6 dark blonde root and 8-9 balayage, but I want to take my (whole head) hair to a level 5 .. in 2019 i coloured my (virgin) 7 hair to a 5 and it turned very orange because I'm golden blonde, so now I'm scared to fill before colouring.. even though my balayage blonde is ashy. What should I do?

Esmeralda Macias: Thank you for this video! I have a question, if I want to go a light neutral/ashy brown completely how dark of a orange/red tone should I go?

Tricia Espero: Hi. What volume of developer should I use when filling my hair with a red dye that's similar to the 6CR? Thank you!

Elainea Jay: So if my natural hair color is a level 5 which color should I use to fill? My hair is currently a level 7-8 with gold tones. Also, my hair is very compromised any recommendations to help get some lust & moisture back? Thank you!

emm honey: Thank you for the video. Could I just take a warmer brown instead of ash brown to avoid the green shimmer?

Merrin McEvoy: Hey! So I'm wanting to go back to a deep dark brown, I have at the moment semi permanent orange hair (artic fox, crazy colour) the past 2 years. Would it be possible to just go dark brown straight away? Or what steps would I take. Really appreciate your feedback

Heather Katherine Brady: Just went to bleach blonde yesterday from ash because I got impatient and threw some dye on my head that went brassy. Really kind of regretting because I want to go dark. How long would you recommend I wait before I start filling it with 6cr? My hair is still pretty healthy after the bleach. Yes we used bleach, lol. Then how long till I can go to the next step? Thank you!

madison may: Hi there! I have blonde highlights and wanting to go all the way to my natural color, after I do a filler of red, do I need to choose a lighter brown because my hair is now already darkened by the red or do I still choose a permanent color that matches a dark brown?

Taylor Holcombe: So what would you recommend for a filler on my balayage from blonde back to the brown that’s in my profile picture of you can see that! Haha my hair pulls red a lot so what would you recommend me doing so my hair goes back to a nice brunette color?

lightofvalyria: can i use a dark caramel brown after the red instead to blend with the rest of my hair? (I only bleached the front strands)

Martin Runner: I wanted to get some subtle highlights in my already dirty blonde hair, i miscalculated the time and my hair turned platinum blonde in like 15 minutes, I really want my natural color back so thanks for the info

roos hartkoorn: I have bleached blonde hair now, and i wanna go back to my natural brunette hair, which is a light brown. Now i'm wondering; can i still use a RED filler for the light brown, or is that too dark and should i go with an orange filler?

Roxanne Gardner: What volume of developer should I use when dying it red to get back to darkest brown

F R A N C E S C A ⚡⚡ #KISSArmy #TeamGENE: Okay but do I have to use the filler if I want to go just 2 shades darker? I'm a blonde level 8 now and I want a 6. Thank you!

lanna: Wait can you please help. Im a natural dark brown and I died my hair to a level 9/10 blonde but i wanna go to a light brown. I want around a 7 light brown and wouldnt mind some reddish orange tones in the brown. What should I buy for the filler color? And also would I be able to leave some of my blonde highlights in the overall light brown?

Bay area Babe: What if you want to go from a level 8 yellow to like a 7 mushroom brown? Do I have to use the 6cr to fill it or how do I make sure there’s enough pigment and which pigments do I use to get like a beige cool dishwater dark blonde?

Jon Night: So how did you fix the other strand from jumping straight to color without the filler? A year later.

Ilishka De Lisle: I have a question about the process. After you have done this 2 step process, and the color has faded in a few weeks, do you do this 2 step process each time? Or do you just do maintenance with your brown color?

Elizabeth Regular: I love the filled swatch!! I want to go back to my Auburn- brown, 6n. Guess I will do this same technique?? Thanks

Jesse Gordon: How do you get rid of split ends without having to cut you’re hair?

Highendforever: Hi, what color do you recommend, for second step for a light golden brown or medium golden brown? I’m ready to get out of the blonde. Thank you

Annie Piantino: thank you so much!!! i was about to have gross greenish blochy hair hahah you saved me from that!!! <3<3<3

Laura Young: I have gave up trying to keep my white hair well... white time to go back natural and my god I’m glad I did some research and found this

Rose A: Do I have to fill my hair if it’s dark blonde/light brown before I dye it dark brown?

Tañia Ocampo: What would you recommend for a hair that is really dark brown that's been balayaged blonde. I'm trying to go black so would I fill the whole hair or just the small parts that are blonde with a red tone and dye it with black all over?

amie sivilay: Okay so I was platinum blonde until i tried to dye it ash brown but it turned grey. I did a diy to take the grey out (lemon juice and conditioner) and now it’s like brownish blonde, it’s a little hard to explain but it’s more on the blonde side than brown. Do i still need to add the red filler?

mama cita: What if you want to go ash brown instead of 3N? Can you still use this process?

Aubrey Malinis: Hi! I’m planning on going back to my black hair, so this was really helpful! I was just wondering, though, what products I should be looking for? For example, if I were to go to Sally’s? Bc I hear volume numbers, though I am unfamiliar with the specifications. If you’re able to reply, that would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Sandra Osborne: I followed these steps I was a very light blonde and wanted to go back brown I used a red hair dye to add pigment then applied the mocha colour hair dye now I'm left with a dull muddy ginger brown not sure how to fix this just want an all over brown any suggestions welcome

Rachael Hunt: what about the dark roots I have going on since the last bleach? Thanks for showing the results!

Puppy Kitigua: I have a question. So during Christmas I dyed my hair half Pink and half Blue. Would I still need to dye my hair red to go back to black or do I just use black?

Dracojay223: I added a filler that was kind of more red, then I added a dark brown dye over it. My hair turned super dark and it has a really red tint to it, is there anyways to get this out? I wanted a dark brown but not super black :/ now its just black but looks dark red in the sun

Spenzaaa: I recently got my hair dyed a copper color my hair was bleached I'm trying to dye it cinnamon brown. Any tips for me?

Soph. A. Clarke: How long should you wait between filling and then dying? Can you do it in the same day?

Emma J: Your video is the only on I can find that describes how to do it the right way!! Thank you!!!!!

Mariam H: Can I do this with a lighter shade of brown? I don't want my brown too dark

Jules 🇦🇷: I bleached one strand of hair to dye it red so that I could go back to dark brown easily. I hope it works

Inka Crawley: Hey, i had barbie blonde hair (it was bleach with a root fade that’s now grown out) my natural hair colour is light mousy brown. I died it red like you said and then brown and the blonde has come out a gorgeous brown just like yours did but my natural virgin hair is a very reddish brown, how do I neutralise this?? Please help

Holli D**: The side you filled looks more rich in color! Thanks!!

Justine Marfil: Hi! I need some help I got a level 8 blonde trying to go back black , what color from Sally’s should I get to use as filler??? I got 20 developer for the mix

teebz: Hi could you please tell me did you use semi permanent for the dark brown colour too? Or is a semi colour with a 10 vol ok? is permanent colour too damaging on blonde hair? I have blond hair and want to go back to dark brown as well, thanks

Suong Luong: Thanks so much, love your video, it so easy to understand, thanks again

MoiAdventures: Can I just dye my hair at home with medium brown after I had it bleached 4’mos ago?thanks

Hailey Wilson: How long should I wait between filling and then dying?

Amy Day: Could I use a cendre level 5 on my hair to get it back dark? It's orange at the minute

chloe irvine: I have a question, i had dark hair and bleached it to blonde and now i wanna get a caramel brown. Will the caramel brown fade? And what will it fade to?

TiffyASMR: What if my hair is rainbow pastel colours because I’ve been experimenting for months but I want to go back to dark brown? Should I still do the red all over? What about over the blue and purple parts? my hair is so many colours right now

Stacey G: Is the 3N permanent? Would you use another demi on top?

Nicky Grace: what can i do ?? i tried to go from my bleached yellowish brassy blonde hair to a lightish brown and my roots caught into the brown i wanted but the rest of my hair is like a silver with a green undertone.. i just tried to dye it AGAIN with this time a darker brown and it didn’t even catch at all... what can i do ?

Natalie Dubinska: Instead of the wash out orange colour can I use red?

MB P: Thank you! I want to go back to my brown hair.

Sandra Rodriguez: Greetings, If I wanted it to be a blue base, what would you use?

Ele_x: What's the difference when I wash the filled hair and the not filled hair? Will my filled hair not look greenish?

Mickie: What do you do when your bleached hair won’t hold color?? I dyed it red to go brown and only my roots changed it looks like a strawberry swirl fml then brown did the same.

Jennifer Ramos: What volume for the 6cn and what volume for the 3n?

Lisa R: Do you still have to fill if you're going to a level 5 brown from level 10? I don't want the brown to look red/orangey...

Joanne Shearer: Wow thank you, I've got it now,

Louise Corrans: What if you do a warm brown over blonde? Then you don't need to fill? As the warmth is in the brown already?

Niki Carter: Thank you for this!! I was def one of the ppl thinking if I filled with the red that it would affect the cool brown color I wanted

Rebecca Van: Hi I have a natural dark blonde level 8 Roots with blonde highlights. I want to go dark brown. Would I do this exact process still? How do I know which of the reds to fill my hair? Not a hair professional. Just wanting to dye it myself at home. Thanks!

Daniella De Paz: Im literally crying right now because i impulsively dyed my hair blonde and it looks so brassy now i want my natural hair back

J Ak: Great info. I can’t find the part 3 you mention on how to fix the one that you did the wrong way.
