Covering Gray Hair With Roux Fanci-Full - Test And Review

I used to play with the Roux Fancy-Full rinses back in the day (twenty years ago) when I had blond hair and needed to tweak the color. But I haven't played with them since my hair turned silver. Here is one option to cover your gray temporarily as you grow it out or just want to be blonde for a night! The colors I am showing today are Golden Spell and Lucky Copper.

Today, I'm going to talk about one of the ways you can use to hide your gray. This is really handy if you're growing in, if you're growing your gray in the hard way, if you've got the white line, that's getting wider and wider and wider, as you very very patiently and wow, does that take dedication that has got to be the hardest way To go gray the easiest on your hair, the most natural way to do it, but takes a lot of dedication. So here's one of the ways you can get yourself through this scarves are awesome. Hats are awesome. You can use the sprays which you see in minot break for a day, video and I will at some point shoot a video hiding the gray with those sprays, but today I'm going to talk about rue fanciful rinses. These are products that have been on the market forever. I mean seriously. Your grandmother used this to cover her gray. I used these back in the day on films, a lot when I had blonde hair, but I was going to be wearing a dark wig to give the hair a little more color to blend it in the sprays. A lot of times can just be a little too messy, so sometimes I would use these first because it just got it a little closer to the root. Looked a little better. I don't have high hopes for this on a full head of silver hair, but we're going to try it out now. First, this formulation is the liquid formulation and I picked this up at CVS a couple days ago. It'S also available Sally Beauty Supply. I will drop links to Amazon down below if anybody's interested in picking up these products. Today, I am NOT going to be trying the liquid version, because I'm not at my home and it is god-awful messy and I'm going to wait until I have at home and have my bowls and brushes and all of that I'm going to concentrate instead today, on Moose'S today, I'm going to concentrate on their mousse formulation. First, I'm going to try this number 26 bashful blonde and after looking at that result, we're then going to try number 32 lucky copper. Now, having used both of these before, when I had blonde hair, they don't do a whole lot in order to really get a vibrant color, you have to penetrate the hair shaft, which then means you have something that's permanently staining your hair. I don't want that. This is something just for covering for a day for an event or or a look or something like that. Um they are sheer colors. So I anticipate that I'm going to get sort of a dull blonde with this and I might get sort of an apricot a color with the light copper. That is what I anticipate. So, let's put it to the test and find out how the roof and settle covers gray. You want to start with freshly washed towel dried hair and wear gloves, because this will stain your fingernails and you don't want to have grubby, looking fingernails if you're putting a nice hair color on for an event. So we are first going to try the golden spell. Shake the bejesus out of it. I do use a lot more product with this color toning mousse than I would with a non colored mousse that I was just using to style my hair. So, that's why you see these great big huge amounts that I'm putting in my hair. I want to make sure that it is thoroughly saturated that every silver hair is covered. This is also going to affect your end result. I have curly hair. If I left this to dry, naturally well, a it would be messy and B. It would just have a funky texture and be weird. So when you blow dry know that you're going to have of a thicker more full-bodied, look with the blow dry, because it's adding a lot of product to your hair. Okay, we've got the mousse all over. The hair seems to be good coverage. Now we're going to hit it with a blow dryer and have the moment of truth. Okay, the first thing it took a long time to blow-dry it was really really wet. So that's one thing to notice and I don't know if you can see this on camera, but you can see when my hair is wet. It hit my face and left marks of the hair color on my face. So if you're doing this or an event, you might want to do your makeup afterwards, which I would recommend anyway, because you don't know kitties with colors on. You can hear lots of bills going today um. I would definitely recommend putting the hair color on before you do your makeup, because it is going to influence how you do your makeup and I have to say I am pleasantly surprised with how well it turned out now. I don't know that this is a blonde blonde and I am going take my cellphone outside, so I can get the Sun and shoot some of this and show you all of the wrinkles that'll be exciting uh, but I'll show you what this color looks like out. In daylight, so you can get a better idea, but it is a very soft ash blonde and is, I think, totally acceptable. You might not get your hair color with this. So if you're looking to blend, you know and have an exact match with a white line here going into dark, it's probably not going to give you an exact color match, but if you just want to take it to a blonde tone, that is not too bad. Honestly, I'm excited about the the color that it turned out. I think it's a really pretty soft ash blonde and I think I have in my box of hair some extensions that are in about this shade of one. So when I get home I may be breaking out some extensions to play with fun, so I just tried the rue fanciful golden spell and got a nice ash blonde color. I washed it out - and this is always the most important part for me. I'M very concerned about it grabbing on those bleached out ends, because those ends of my hair have been through the wringer they've been bleached and colored and bleached it colored and bleached, and then tone to the silver. So though, this part when my hair is a little scary, it's like who knows what's going to happen there, so let's find out how it all wash out and it looks like we have really good success. So all the color came out, it did not grab anywhere. So I'm very very pleased with the golden spell and I'll use this. You know I thought that audition or some event where I would rather be blond, then silver, then I will use this. That'S a kind of a nice thing to have in the arsenal. Now, the scary one, now I'm going to try the locking, copper. I was a little concerned about this one because I'm afraid it'll grab on the end. So that's why I wanted to try blonde first, but now I feel more confident to try the lucky pop copper. So you're gon na get to see with me how well this works. I do not anticipate vibrant copper locks. I anticipate a soft apricot blonde. So, let's find out, we have our freshly washed towel dried hair. We have our Roux fanciful. Lucky, copper, shake the bejesus out of it make sure all that color pigment is blended in not exactly a vibrant Coppertone. Is it so far the lucky copper is a little messier than the blonde was, but that makes sense because it has more pigment in it. So this definitely has a little more cleanup necessary around the hairline, but I'll get that after I blow it dry, the blow-dry process does take longer than it normally does. This hair is very saturated and very, very wet here is the end result on the lucky copper. It is not exactly Irish Setter red. I don't know that I'd even call it a shade of red. It does not look like a shade of haircolor that occurs in nature. It'S a little bizarre. Looking the cleanup. As you can see, I've got a little cleanup to do right in here around the hairline, but it does clean up easily q-tip and water and that'll take care of it. So at least the cleanup is easy. Definitely do your hair before you do your makeup. Super easy cleanup and I will take you outside with my cell phone, so I can show you what this looks like in full Sun well curious myself happier with the blonde tone, so I guess my advice with the fanciful mooses is you can get a hair color Change but don't anticipate anything too aggressive if you've got silver hair and you want to be blonde for a day. You can get a soft ash blonde, but I wouldn't anticipate a really vibrant color and with the dark Browns I think really the best you're getting at is like a taupe. It'S not really going to get to a vibrant brunette tone, because these are transparent colors. They just lay pigment on top of your hair. They do not penetrate the hair shaft nice for a change of pace. There is the rue fanciful mooses. I will try the liquid. When I get home, I did try it on a little strip of hair, and I was not that impressed, but I'll show you want to get home. These were at Sally Beauty, Supply for about 10:50. They were having a sale when I picked these up, so I thought, buy one get one free, that's why I got two of them. I will drop links down below. If you don't have a Sally Beauty Supply near you, and you want to pick it up at Amazon, appreciate the business. I earn a few cents on that. If you do, and by the way I have fan funding, enabled on my youtube videos. So all of the products that I try I have paid for out of my own money and you can, if you like these videos and you'd like to see me, do more products you can tip me. I don't know what it is. You can contribute towards the funding of this channel. One dollar once a month will add up and help me be able to buy more things, to try them out to show you totally optional up to you and it'll be up there in the corner of the little. I fan funding. Thank you very much. You have a great day and I will talk to you.

HEYTOOTS: I LOVE THIS!!! How fun! Another plus for grey hair - the use of washout color for a nice change!!! I might use the Copper during the holidays! When I was coloring my hair medium brunette, before Roux came out with the mousse formula, I used the liquid to cover my white roots. But I had an idea that made the liquid soooo much easier to use: I bought a little spray bottle from Wal-Mart and filled it with the Roux liquid! It was then a breeze to part my hair, spray on the color and rub in into my roots (keep a paper towel handy for drips) and finally comb it through. If I recall correctly, the liquid was more pigmented than the mousse...but you can't apply too much because the hair can hold only so much liquid. But I suppose you could soak the hair, let it dry a bit then apply more for a full color change....? Thank you, Monique, for another great video!!!

Deborah Graf: Monique, you are just a joy and a hoot to watch! It's like checking in with a gal pal for advice and opinions! Your videos are my favorite, hands down. I am a 60 year old fashionista with some gray in a corporate job and I have been amusing myself by trying some fun temp colors on my hair. I find that my millennial friends and colleagues love it, and the majority of my "contemporaries" don't quite get it...which means I must be still on trend! Thanks for proving over and over that "mature" can still be "hip"! Btw, I am also a long time user of the Roux Fanciful line....since my 20's (in the late 70's) when the White Minx color was recommended to me to tone the brassy gold of my DIY highlights to a cooler, ashier tone. That was in the days before the mousse formula, just the liquid was available. I have used several of the blonde shades over the years, but think I will give the Lucky Copper mousse a shot over my current medium/dark ash blonde hair. I actually like the translucent result you got with it, and agree with the other comments that it looks Rose Gold on you. In fact, it had a subdued, dusty, rose gold effect and reminded me of some of the greyish, dusty, rose gold and mauve effects that Guy Tang has created lately. Keep up the good work, you ROCK!

Shoshana63: Hi, Monique!! Thank you so much for sharing your results! As well as testing products. I haven't colored my hair for several years so I could embrace my silver, grey & white hair! Lol however, I have been using clairol shimmer lights for well over a year, but didn't know I wasn't supposed to use it every time I shampooed! There was a lot of purple deposit in my hair. Thanks to your sharing your journey and techniques, I went for it: I showed my stylist a pic from the Internet and bleached it all!! Thanks to all the purple deposit, my hair was double processed on top with grey/silver color around the bottom sides and back. (Shocked everyone at home and work!lol) I am determined to have fun with it! I have alot of gold/yellow going on, but responded well when I washed and used blonde conditioner with a little purple in it. (I still have to update my profile pic ;) I really appreciate your time and efforts!! Big huggs!!!! Sue

Vivienne Hamilton: Thanks for your review and test I have no heard of these products but I think they would be great for enhancing a faded colour in between salon visits and getting an extended time in between salon visits too. I like the ash blond best but your silver best of all. I love red hair colours but they fade so fast on my hair but this copper one would be great for that I think. Love seeing those cats - Happy Wednesday Monique xoxo Vivienne

Lynda Makara: That was a good review. I use the Fanci Full rinse before I get out of the shower (less messy that way). But I think maybe the mousse gives better coverage. It'll be fun for you to switch up the color once in a while. I like your silver hair the best though.

PIVWIV: You are so funny Monique...Your subscribers are rocketing! I've been silver since March. I had a really short pixie crop to cut out the bleached ends(toned silver) to get it back to natural(first time since the age of 14). I'm having a bad week with the silver now the cuts growing out. It will look amazing long...looks good really short...it's the in between that looks like Granny.

T.J.: Thank you for this video.  Even though I am a few years older than you, this reminded me of my mother when I was younger.  Thanks for the memories!  And your "real" hair color is not all silver so I am excited to see what I will discover when I stop dying my hair.

Erica Marin: Thank you. Super cool. I'm a platinum blonde right now and want to play around. This is a great way to do that without commitment. Nice review.

Sabra Queen of the Underworld: The copper one looks like it gave your hair a rose gold color. Very pretty. Definitely going to be getting some of those!

Castro Iliana: This is a great idea! The blonde looked the best on you. You mentioned extensions, what a fun idea, thanks. You're awesome!!

Miss Marilyn: I love the blonde color and cant wait to try it on my own grey hair.

Fire Cracker LM: I LOVED YOUR PRESENTATION...This Happen to be the Best Review Video of this product I'm looking for..You did More and Beyond and showing us 2 colors back to back then most people show on video..Thank you so much for sharing your reviews and I really Appericate..Can't wait to see more what you have in stored..Thanks

Tammy Plourde: Warning! don't use the liquid! I tried the liquid before seeing this video. What a God awful mess it made and it changed the texture of my hair to a sort of snarly rats nest. I will give the mousse a try, although a little hesitant after trying the liquid.

Lisa Copeland: Hair is so fun! I love how you had so much fun with it! Lisa

Charo Cordano: Thanks a lot, your presentation was great. I'm using fanci-full silver more than a year and my hair look really good. My natural hair is gray. Thanks again, I'm from Lima - Perú.

Carol Grimm: Wanted to comment on this I am a natural red head I use this always I only use it to darken my red hair and it turns out beautiful better than going to beauty shop I think maybe cause your hair is blonde that why it turn out pink so anyone who has red hair and just wants to cover your roots or a brunette to add warm arburn highlights this is amazing product I love it

Sirius Alien: Reminds me of the time I sent my guy to buy me my Dark Ash Blonde dye...He asked for dark ass blonde..They asked him to leave ;-)Did you get better results with the liquid?

Jay Dubbs: The fanciful color mousse is to be used more to keep dyed hair more vibrant in between colorings. Using the mousse on hair that is grey or silver won't do much for a color change because it's really not made for covering gray or silver hair. :)

Robyn Park: Dang girl your brave. Love you're videos always educational. Robyn

Chris Budge: Thank you Monique. You're my goto person on everything gray hair!!

Sabra Queen of the Underworld: The colors look amazing!!!! You look marvelous!

Marian H: Interesting! I've never thought of playing with those. It' would be fun to be another hair color for a night! Thanks!

Debi Basile: Interesting colors. I guess it would be great to cover the grey when you need to go to an event and can't get your hair colored. Glad you tried them for us! Thanks!

Destiny: You are so gorgeous!! I hope to be as lovely one day! Wow, loved this video, excited to try fanciful on my super bleached hair....amazing.

bookmouse770: Both colors looked really good on you. You are so beautiful.

Jeepergirl: looks better outside in the sun, very pretty!

M Smith: Thank you for the experience, I have tried mouse colorance by Goldwell in Pomegranate I its as you say transparent. the longer you leave it on the more intense. but washes out in a month.

Muther_Trucker: If you wanted more red, can you apply more mousse and blow dry it again? I’m gray just like you. I would love to find a 3/4 wig or full on wig that I could match when I use the lucky copper or any other temp rinses. What color reddish ash blonde wigs are out there to match our type of gray when using temp rinses/mousses? Thanks for all you do!!!

Lis Cain: Interesting. I wondered how those worked. Cool! Thanks for posting Monique!

tucsoncarol: I actually like that "red" color. It doesn't look like a realistic color but it could be lovely if styled and accessorized.

Truth 2027: The Silver is the prettiest!! You are really good at these infomercials - thanks for presenting this.

Lynda M: You spoke of your box of hair I would love to see all of it. I have Gray/mostly white hair went natural years ago. My hair is long and I love it. I get so many compliments on it but I certainly do not know how to play and have fun with it as you do. I'm learning a lot from you. By the way I am in my 70's and it has always been tabu in this area of the country for women over 40 to have long hair. I love breaking the rules. Keep up the good work!

Beverly Frederick: Fabulous Tutorial Monique ☆☆☆

Kirstin Frosheiser: One thing I noticed from prior experience with the liquid, and sorry if someone already said this, but I wouldn't wear it on a cloudy/rainy day...it will run and stain.

CJ 1419: Does it make your hair feel sticky at all? Also have you ever tried the white mink just for body? Thanks!

Jeanna Walton: Would the silver temp. color used every so often take care of any yellowing of silver hair?

Claudette Thauvette: Great hair tips !

Jeanna Walton: It was interesting to see how to use the product. Super glad it's temporary.............you are right, those colors don't occur in nature, lol.

Mark Holman: Oh you need a stylist (friend to help you!) You deserve to be pampered and sit back sip something delicious and be given the royal treatment, then you won't get that junk in your face! I used to help my mom. Just love your hair! Thanks for the vocal coaching you are a doll!

Stacy Greene: I love when I do a search for something and one of your videos pops up!!! <3 <3 <3

HurricaneHetta: No! Video before coffee? LOL! I understand but can't tell. TFS! This was fun to watch. I may grab some of that mousse. Loved the cat bells. Are those your kitties traveling with you?

Grammy Tap Dancing by Sharamay Ritter: True steel works great also in fanciful

Les Headley: I wanna see thick hair being covered

3rdgen Sarah: The copper toned one came out like a rose gold, I thought.

Heather Covington: Your annotations crack me up. Thanks for this review, I have this product and having trouble with the execution based on the directions.

barbaraj253: Nope for the red...love the soft blonde

Susan Fowler: Over the years I have used many roux products. The colors are good but lack shine.

Ivy Davis: I am trying to grow out my gray naturally I have about almost an inch of regrowth in a month but I also have highlights and dark brown color it looks really dirty I hate it do you think I can use the true steel mousse and it will all start to blend in

moon0halo: "It's a God awful small affair, to the girl with the mousy hair......"  ;-)

toastedcheeser: Your station is my new guilty pleasure. Love your embracing of life as an older (but hot) chick. Cheers!

Moriganna Brown: This sounds like a fun way to give a different hair to e without dyeing it. I had my hair died from a light coppery silver natural colour to black with red highlights. We have a Sally Salon close by. Had I known I might of tried these lol. Thought I love the black and red. At our age it is nice to experiment with our hair like this. I just live your personality Monique and you "shake the generous" out of those bottles lol. I loved that e pressing it made me laugh.

Kelli F: The liquid one smells awful!!!!

Cindy Smith: Off topic, but a new discovery for me today that I wanted to share. If you've in or near a big city, some of the larger Bed Bath and Beyonds sell cosmetics! A nice, big, well stocked cosmetics are that has all the usual drug store brands, and some of the minor brands, as well. And those $5/20% off coupons can be used! Got a sack full of goodies for $20. Just a tip I wanted to pass along.

Alexa Stein: I love it

Parochial Hall: That's how to do a review.

hipretty: great review...just curious if you didn't wash it out the same day if it comes off on your pillow.

Linda Dennis: I'm looking all over for the Fan Funding icon and can't find it. Will you locate if for us? I'm on Chrome browser and the little 'i' I see is one for autoplay, next video. You are gorgeous and I'm enjoying your videos, I have white hair.. I don't look like the picture on this comment page any more. I started letting it go 'white, not so much grey, about 7 years ago when the real estate market started a down-slide (I'm a Realtor). Regarding going from your 'fake' color to natural, I used several products for the transition, I had thought I was a natural blonde because the gal who colored my hair made it look that way, BUT, my funds suffered and I went natural... white. Anyway, the product I settled on was Joan RIver's Great Hair Day. I still use it but now they have a WHITE one and I use it only on any 'part' or separation to tone down my PINK! Yes, I said PINK scalp. Her color, BLONDE, is a great blending color and I've used in on my friends of varying hair colors. I have very fine hair also and it is extremely hard to do a decent hair cut in Birmingham, Al. However, recently I met Betsy at the Walmart beauty shop in Pelham, Al and she did a great job.

KangoKid Kidd: Nice and LOVELY.

Smushedcats-JUICEWRLD-LEAKS-999: 3:57

Jeepergirl: I think this color is very pretty also. Please get rid of the Indian drums in the background.
