If you want to have salt and pepper or gray hair - and you want to know how to take 20 years off, look a bit more youthful yeah, i'm going to tell you five of my top tips for doing just that in this video. Okay, if i'm honest, i'm a little on the fence on this video topic, there's part of me that fully understands the desire to well look as youthful as possible at any age. I fully get it, but then there's the other side of me that thinks that there's something really amazing and extremely important about being confident in yourself, at whatever age or whatever look like smile lines, those wrinkles, i love them. I think they're endearing. I think they look fantastic on people. I think they tell a story, so i don't know, but i also understand that there's a lot of people out there that do want to look the most youthful that they can for whatever age that they are. So if that is who you are, there's nothing wrong with that, and this video is 100 for you all right. So i'm gon na jump straight into it. We'Re gon na dive right into tip number one and tip number one is simply not having your hair too long. Okay, now i'm saying short. So, let's back up here a little bit, so i don't get raked over the coals on this one. But here's the deal a lot of times. I see people equate or marry the idea of long hair to being youthful and when i'm speaking of long hair, basically i mean anything really beyond the bra strap as hair gets longer than that it becomes almost impossible to layer shape into that hair shape and hair Allows you to accentuate things about your face, shape that you want to accentuate. Typically speaking, when we're talking about youth or looking more youthful we're talking about lifting the face up, lifting the eye up right, accentuating cheek structure, i talk about it all the time. So, in order to do that, we have to be able to cut shape into the hair and have layers and areas that lighten up that get a little bit more volume that create volume in areas that accentuate things about your face. The thing is, layers are dependent on length, so how long your hair is determines how long your layers need to be for them to balance and still make sense and look good, but when your hair is that long, the layers have to be so long to still Balance that they actually end up still being heavy hair and so you're not really getting the shape that you could get once you bring the length up a little bit, even though the layers balance with the length they still are a lot shorter of hair than they Were when they were longer and that difference in length in the layers allows for a lot more movement and shape and ultimately allows us to create a better overall shape for you, it helps us look more youthful. Does that make sense made sense in my mind, so i hope it makes sense for you and by the way, can we talk about this, that my friends is an eagle's nest and there are two eagles in that bad boy. You can see one one's moving right now. How cool is that? Okay on to tip number two? I just love that river view. That'S the fact of the matter anyway, so into tip number two or mistake number two, so i'm gon na be using the word tip and mistake interchangeably in this video you're gon na figure that out these are all kind of mistakes that i see people make and Then kind of tips as to how i would address those mistakes, so mistake, number two is having your hair too, contrived too stiff having a style, that's just too plastered many times that can lend itself to a little bit more of an older look right. So if you're trying to be more youthful, you want to have a little bit more movement within your style. I get, though, that more often than not, when i see clients that have a more contrived look that are using more sprays or keeping things stiffer. It'S typically because they're trying to create a certain amount of volume in their hair and they're feeling like this is their only option to create that. So i have created other videos which i'll link one right here to help. You understand different techniques so that you can create volume in your hair while at the same time still having movement. So it doesn't get too stiff. But just understand that it is important that you have some movement and flow to your hair, because that's going to have a tendency to look a lot more youthful feel me. Okay, now i'm going to get back to enjoying my river wan na go for a swim. Yeah, no, no, absolutely not don't do that! Oh, oh, oh, oh and before i forget during my last tip, i'm gon na take you to one of the. I would say quintessential places that you must go and visit. If you or when you come to portland. It is absolutely on the top of the list, so yeah you're gon na see that pretty soon lucky you, okay back to the rest of the tips - mistakes, whatever okay, so this place is apparently chock. Full of crazy birds saw the two eagles over there. Uh saw hawk flying over when i was filming my last segment that you guys didn't even see, but now there's a great blue, heron uh like right in here somewhere in this area. I don't know if you can see that or not, but uh i'm like hoping that it flies away, so we can catch it. It'S cool, okay, so on to mistake three. So the third mistake that i see people making is not layering their hair, keeping it kind of one length, and this really probably should have been mistake two so that i could piggyback it off of the first mistake, which is having your hair too long. But nonetheless it's mistake, number three. So here we are the problem with not having any sort of layering is again. It gets back into not having the ability to create shape, but the bigger problem is - and i've talked about this in multiple of my other videos, when your hair is at one length even on shorter hair, sometimes or you know, below the chin and longer it'll have A tendency to kind of get wider at the bottom, and that tends to bring the eye down so, regardless of the fact that the style will lack any sort of real movement, and it won't have any real overall shape in the hair. It will also create a situation where it brings your eye down, and that has a tendency to make people look more tired and less youthful. So you want to definitely not steer away from having layers and while we're here, because i still want that thing to fly away, so i'm going to give it some time. Let'S move on to mistake number four, so mistake: number four is about beings concerned was having a little bit more fun or edge with the cut. So here's the thing, because your hair is gray unless you colored your hair gray and it's platinum. If it's a natural gray more often not, it has a tendency to lean towards a little bit more of the conservative side. So, therefore, you can get away with a little bit more of an edgy cut, because an edgy cut and the conservative side of the color will have a tendency to balance out a little bit more and many times. You create that edge appeal with the cut and because it's gray, it's a little bit of a dichotomy, and it ends up being extremely striking. So to me, i think one of the best things that people can do even if you're more on the conservative side yourself, giving your style a bit more edge. I think you'd be shocked in how striking that can come across and how you actually can wear a little bit more edge than you might think you can wear yeah. So try that okay, it still hasn't fallen away. Maybe soon, let's find out okay on to tip number five. Okay, now that is multnomah falls. It'S like one of the quintessential places that you have to come visit. If you come to oregon, so you can barely even see all of it, but you already saw it from the b-roll. I showed you right before this little segment, but it's pretty epic. Unfortunately, i can't really get any closer because well, it's packed in snow and my dumb butt is wearing sneakers. So there's that, but it's pretty amazing right. Okay, so the last tip is about giving your hair dimension. So we're going to step into color a little bit and i totally understand it doesn't really make sense to be talking about going gray and then talking about color like how does that work? One of the things i do a lot of times in the salon that has worked really well is just do a few of the, i guess. You'D say: pepper: low lights, you literally put black low lights in hair. So if you don't know what low lights are there think of highlights it's just a darker color than the natural color. That means low light and it actually gives the hair a lot of dimension. It makes the white pieces pop a little bit more but, more importantly, it gives your face a little bit more richness. The best part about this is when done correctly. You basically only do it once or twice a year, there's no real grow out stage. So, realistically you don't have to go back in and constantly get upkeep, so that part of the equation is kind of gone. In fact, it's actually a scenario where you don't want to do it too often, because it can start looking too dark, but it also gives the overall shape more dimension, so the actual haircut is going to have more movement and more flow to it. So really you're winning on both sides: yeah okay. So i'm in the woods out on this hike um this entire video i've been filming in the woods out on this hike, but realistically i'm at a school like four minutes from my house. Okay, so here's the deal! The only part of this was actually shot kind of in the woods was the last part where it was the big waterfall and that, to be honest, was like literally 15 steps off of the freeway. I parked my car walked like a block and i was there yeah, but don't think that i didn't try. I actually drove like an hour and a half or more to get to a place to show you guys on a trail that i wanted to take you on, and we've had so much snow around that i literally could not even park the car couldn't even get Into the parking lot and a lot of trails are actually closed because the snow berms are so high that you can't get past them. So, yes uh, i did try and uh. I did want you to still feel like you were on adventure, so i lied a little bit, but just a little bit you forgive me right, okay! Well now i need you to hit on one of these two videos and uh you're gon na learn something and support the channel. So yeah we'll see you in the next video you

Justin Hickox: Ok folks, what kind of views do you want to see? Do you like River, waterfalls, lakes, valleys? Or what would you like to experience on a future adventure??

Crystal Vera: I love that beginning speech lol. I think I want to look the most “healthy” and any age. Having gray is not wrong and aging isn’t unattractive but we should strive be healthy and let our bodies represent that. Thanks for these tips, I’m nowhere near going gray but I love learning about it

Dandy: Thank you for this! The scenery was awesome. I can’t believe that’s on the side of the road. Amazing. As a 50 year old who grew out her gray thank you for not pushing to color. I was going for roots every 3 weeks and using sprays in between. I got so tired of it. I have a salon appointment this week and I have been contemplating cutting off some length. You just gave a a good push!

Tracey Southwell: At LAST! A man who doesn't think all women should try to remain 'ageless' with blonde extensions and actually cut their hair - I love the words maturity and edgy! Why not? Why try to look 30 at 53? It looks trashy. Thank you. Please make more like this.

Flower: Aw I love that age positivity in beginning!! Also mixing beautiful nature settings and some (but not too many) casual, conversational moments with hair advice is a unique and fun branding style! Great quality content so far too. Thank you!

Jennifer D: "...my dumb butt is wearing sneakers." I just love how down-to-earth you are. I've been growing my hair out since 2019. My stylist used lowlights at my part to ease the demarcation line and let everything underneath go. It worked beautifully. Once again, great tips, and I want to thank you for the beautiful views of snow, ice, and stunning wildlife. I'm watching this in August. From the Hudson Valley in New York. In 95/98 degree temperatures. With crazy humidity. I am so done with summer and can't wait for snow (although I probably won't be wearing sneakers on my hikes up to the waterfall on the Appalachian Trail that's across the street from my house :D ). And of course, we forgive you! Always!

Sara Maloney: Great tips wow! I love the lowlights idea. Your intro was beautiful , Thank you. Aging is a privilege and to be embraced! Stay well everyone.

Diane Benker: Thank you for your helpful tips. I am 70, and never never let my hair grow out gray. I am about 3 months into growing out to gray. I am excited about this new adventure, but I don't want to look 80 by the time it is all gray. I plan on shoulder length hair with layers, and I have thought about some touch up with the gray color. I like the low lights color. I don't like the salt and pepper look. But a controlled low lights would be nice.

DJ Lev: It was so exciting to see the birds and animals at the river! I agree with all your points. I JUST had over 8 inches taken off, plus thinned and the stylist cut my hair for the natural flow of my waves so now my hair has movement and falls just past my collarbone. No styling needed, thank goodness! I'm so glad I took the chance. I still feel feminine, but lighter and more fun. I'm 62 and have my natural auburn red. One of your last videos really helped me to go for it! Thank you so much!

Jennifer Mead: I love this video, thank you! My daughter is my stylist and she has done such a good job with my thick, unruly hair. We have managed the first 4 steps quite well. I am at shoulder length with the layers and I love it. Like you said, I embrace my age and have no desire to look younger, just better. I am about 45% grey, and the rest of my hair is a dishwater brown color. Gross. I think the brown actually ages me more than the grey. We have toyed with the idea of platinum with low lights. I would like to know your thoughts? I haven't had color in my hair for about 6 years. I'm a little hesitant. I love all of your views, I live in Kansas where there are no mountains, water falls or forests. So any view from your nature is just beautiful to me!

Shelley Oswald: You explained the edgy look well and it makes good sense! As does your low lights with gray suggestion. I took a few inches off my hair and added more layers a few weeks ago. I enjoy your hair videos & hikes!

Debbie Garcia-Strother: Jason - your video shot on Feb. 23 2021 was awesome!! Waterfall, eagles’ nest, blue heron -stunning! Thanks for braving the cold to show us these amazing nature scenes. Your tips were great, too.

jmsnyc1961: I thank you 100% for instilling in me the courage to stop coloring my hair at the beginning of quarantine. I'm loving and owning my silver streaks (I have to determine the difference between gray/grey vs. silver) and actually received compliments, with people asking me who did my great color job. My response "Menopause!" I recently had a haircut, (not too short), with layers and I'm liking it. I find using a styling brush vs. a hot comb much easier and given the texture of my hair, it works like a charm. Keep doing what you're doing, keep teaching, keep exploring, keep laughing and keep loving!

S Floating: I truly love your premise really ! I always loved the looks of mature women , but I admit that watching MY face changing is a whole other story !!! I have made up my mind to let my hair grow grey, but at the same time I fear the stray cat-lady look if you see what I mean. Thank you a lot for your video

Lorraine Brotherston: Amazing scenery and fabulous tips! I have had my hair almost every length you can imagine and when I have done a short style I have received compliments on how young I looked even since I have gone my natural silver.

Cin Ma: Love the low lites idea!!!! I have allowed my Grey to grow out. And I buzzed cut and I loved the edgy look. Now it’s grown and I see the big difference it would make for me to get low lites and add dimension!!! And the fact that I will still rock my grey! I can see it totally worth it and I feel it will look so so nice. I too feel shorter hair or no longer then shoulder length looks best on mature women. Unless you have full body thick hair and you can rock it then go for it!! I am due for a trim and I am allowing it to grow into a bob but as soon as I can get an appt I will definitely get the low lites. And my root hair color is deep brown and the grey pops. So if I Just a few more I think it will look amazing. Thank you so so much for the tip!

Veronica Bonelli: Love this one about grey hair. Mine has been transitioning for a little more than 2 years. In the bathroom light, it can almost look brown depending on where I stand, but in the natural light I really see it. I've been a little unsure about how it looks (family will tell you anything) until the other day. I had surgery last week and the recovering room nurses were talking about gray hair and how they hated how theirs looked and where it was coming in. I heard them say her hair was just an amazing silver with dark undertones and they wished their hair was like that. I didn't realize they were talking about me until I came around more. Then they asked what I did and I said nothing. This is it. I finally feel AWESOME about my hair. Oh and I love the scenery but I love all the animal shots.

Cheryl Ramskill: I really enjoy you getting out of the salon and into the wild with nature and sharing that with us. Thanks for all the amazing tips. They have given me a lot of direction as I get ready to make a hair style change.

Sevi Regis: A bonus to experience nature while tuning in on the grey hair video. Wondering what would be considered edgy yet shoulder length

Marie O'Rourke: Great scenery, love it!! Good advice. I went grey about 6/7 years ago, kept it long until I realised I was looking like the 14 year old school girls have their hair not a good look at my age! Recently got it cut and layered and am loving it, see avatar I've been stopped so many times by loads of people who compliment my hair because of the colour! It's still got a lot of black in it under the white grey! And I totally agree, laughter lines show you've lived a good life, they add character and interest. Thanks for your videos

Lois Schock: Justin, thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge! I love learning from you! I don't believe most hair dressers have a clue about subjects you are teaching us! You're amazing!

Catherine Nicole: I left Oregon almost 7 years ago and moved to Ecuador; I haven’t been back to the states since. So this video was especially wonderful for me—and, as I have gray hair, relevant. If I ever manage to get back I know who I’m going to try and get to cut my hair!! Thanks!

Lenaise Dove: Thank you ! I did the devil meets Prada Meryl Streep hair. during lockdown! I had no choice but to go white and love it ! I had to chop it myself but it’s working- I still fit my bike leathers so with a bright red lipstick and my vaccine- I’m ready to go at 67! Thanks for the advice x x x x

Angela Adlish: Hello Justin! I loooove this whole vibe! You were thrown in my feed, but I'm not quite worried yet about having not youthful enough hair, yet as I'm turning 50 in a week, I'm definitely thinking of the future...hip cut? Go grey with low lights? All great tips and the glorious backdrops of nature are fab! Love what your doing!

Dean Frost: Thanks for the great advice. Love my grey hair I was actually happy I went grey early. However I wasn't loving the drastic difference in my darker hair in the back and white in the front or the texture difference between the two natural colors. Had lowlights put in the front today and love them. Also had it cut into a semi dramatic bob. Great advice.

Roberta: Nature just sings to my soul! Thank you for giving these great hair tips in such a beautiful setting!❤️

Marsharee Wilkens: I really enjoy these videos. Being outside whether close to your home or far is still pretty cool. Wish I could just fly to Oregon and sit in your chair and let you put all your experience into applying some of these tips on my head. Wish my hairdresser watched you!

Mariana Biefeld: That Eagles Nest is the coolest! Justin, thank you so much for addressing and supporting the natural salt n pepper/ gray hair. I've always had longer hair, and haven't colored my hair in 3 years. This was very helpful! Thank you thank you. I wish you were near me!

Maryellen Tanner Vincent: Okay...this is my first time seeing one of your videos....and.... thank you very much for the great hair tips! But.... the nature you captured was amazing!!! Thanks for including all that natural beauty....just stunning ❤️

Stacy Niles: Justin just wanted to say, Thank You, I look forward to your videos! Not just bcuz you’re an amazing human who gives us epic knowledge in your craft but also bcuz you care enough also to take us on a glorious adventure while doing it! We get the best of both worlds while in reality, right now, this world is totally crazy. I also appreciate the fact that you drove an hr & a half just to get to the perfect spot! ❤️

Denise Kerr: Really liked the tips/mistakes to avoid. Just because I m letting my gray grow does not mean I m letting myself "go". Appreciate the advice and the hikes. The waterfall is my fav.

Elizabeth O'Brien: I met a women in the gym with long grey silver hair and she looks outstanding. Her hair wasn't course, frizzy, yellow or dull. It almost looked like she colored it platinum/silver but it was all Natural. I think it's all about texturing without those choppy layers.

Tammy McLeod: Love love love! It's such a treat to see snow like this. Where I live in Australia, we don't get snow (I'm in Victoria, in the Dandenong Ranges), it does get bloody cold, in winter we get sleet, which everyone gets really excited about and thinks it's snow... but it ain't! There are snowfields about an hour away though. But it's lovely to see your snow there! As far as the grey hair thing goes, I'm still more pepper than salt, but the salt's catching up. I will NEVER colour my hair, because, having lived with cancer on and off since I was 15, at 57, I feel VERY privileged to have made it to this age, and my grey hair is something I never thought I'd live to see or experience. So please... love your grey hair!!! <3

Casey Young: Took two years to grow my hair to my shoulders after I stopped highlighting and it’s the best thing I ever did... the grey is more unique! Great points thank you for your video!! Love the scenery

Donna Stodola: Wow I was expecting some hair tips (which I definitely got) but I sure wasn't expecting the bonus gorgeous scenery and wild life. Absolutely stunning. Thank you!

Linda: Thank you for your practical tips that are so true. Very helpful. Loved the setting as well.

Lori Rees: Thanks Justin. Love this. I stopped dying a few years ago. I’m 48 and I am already avoiding these mistakes. I have been thinking about getting some lowlights down the road.

Koni Bridgham: I love the little adventures that you take us on, absolutely amazing scenery!!! Sure hope you and your beautiful wife start that vlog! Thank you for the great tips. I did put some layering in my hair but since I have heavy, thick, coarse hair that has a mind of its own, I am a little freaked out about the sides adding width to my already round face as the sides flip up even though I use product to smooth them down. Any suggestions?

Jeepergirl: Just found your channel and I love it. I love your attitude, laugh, and wisdom about hair. Everything you have explained about short hair and movement makes sense. I may have to try a shorter more modern cut?

Joan Anne Wallace: I need to get my hair done and thanks for great tips and advice . Love the magnificent Eagles. I got my son to chop my hair because I was fed up with length (and it didn’t look too bad) but need it layering.

Andrea Yanochko: This video is what I needed to look younger. Thanks for posting!

Linda Winn: Thanks for all the effort you went to to make this video special for us. . I’m in the UK and wish I could visit Portland and also have you sort out my hair. You’re pretty amazing. Thanks again.

27kjh: Very diplomatic with your words on looking younger. Thank you for taking us to these falls…absolutely stunning.

Connie Pleasant: I really enjoyed your video. I really agree with your tips on long length (I’m growing out my grey hair and I do think I will stop just below my bra line (curly hair). I loved my hair when it was short but now I just want that sexy curly vibe with the grey and I think I just might have my stylist add some depth with the LOW lights, I feel like my hair is too white around my face and its dark in the back. I would love to see a video on styles for face shapes. Loved your bird watching I’ve got tons of birds where I live too, but I’ve never seen an eagle up close ... wow

Marguerite Baca: Blue Heron's are always a good sign for me There's a community of them in an area of San Diego. The layering and length points make sense. It's true, any longer than my bra make my face look long and draggy. I need the shaping. You're helping face the facts.

Marcia Noah: Justin, I love how you have been wrapping your content with your love for hiking! So creative. Camera work is great. Content is informative, educational and fun. Keep up the good work!

T M H: What if you have wavy/curly hair? Is it easier to grow your hair past midback? I usually have layers in mine starting from nose height down no matter the length to prevent the triangle effect. Can it be grown longer without dragging face down if you have swirls and curls?

Dorie Moynihan: The Eagles are a big hit for me. Love the advice this week. Friday is my big change day. 4 years of letting my hair grow. I'm going big change. Or I might out. Gosh commitment issue. Not on change, just on how short I'm going. Stay safe y'all keep blessed.

Gauntlet to Life: Once again, such amazing views! It looks pretty cold ; O Funny thing about jumping in a cold river, when you get out your body is actually warmed considerably. River water that comes off the mountain is ideal, a good way to warm up in the late afternoon when camping ( you can end up with a brain freeze if you wash your hair as well, mind... ) Great tips/mistakes Justin ; D I agree with smile lines & how the face tells a story. That nest was pretty impressive! Take care & see you & nature again ; D

sharon povroznik: Love the scenery!, My husband and I are avid hikers, and at age 59, Age is only a number in my opinion, chose to stop dying my hair 3 years ago, thank you for the tips, very useful !!

PJ Mundy: I love all your videos. This one in particular as I am 74 with grey hair. Good tips and I agree with the edgy suggestion. Looking forward to a new video, as always!

Dijana Warrender: I am 57. I made the decision to stop colouring my hair a few weeks ago so enjoyed this video. I try to go for a more modern rather than young look.

sevenirises: Thank you for your upbeat tips and hike. You've encouraged me to grow my grey out.

Yoli Rankin: LoVeD the flowing River behind you!! And the eagles and blue Herron were beautiful!! Thank you!!! I just turned 50 and love my brown hair, but I TRIED to go gray.....I have beautiful white hair but I just couldn’t do it ..... yet. But I LOVE these tips and will definitely have to get an edgy haircut when I’m finally ready to go natural. Ps. I learned about not using hair spray from one of those carts in the middle of the mall. Yes, thats right. One of those guys selling hair straighteners. Lol but he was RIGHT and have used less hair spray since then!

ShakeMyWay: I think it's just I don't want to look "dated". Looking fresh at any age is my goal.

Tara Collalti: Good and informative video. I am loving seeing your subscriber numbers increase as I think you're great! Super fun to watch, love going on these adventures and your personality makes me smile :)

Griselle CC: Great tips right when I am going to have a hair cut this week. A lot to think about now. ❤️

Danette Mannion: Thanks for this Justin! Love my gray, salt and pepper, I’ve cut it off and I’m loving it. My gray hair is very different than my young gal hair.

T D: I really appreciate this video! I stopped dying my hair 3 years ago.

Barb Witkowski: Hi Justin! COVID pushed me to go natural when I couldn’t get to the salon for a few months to get my roots covered. I decided to just go for it and have been dye free for six months. I love my white hair, and at 64, my goal is to look “modern” and to avoid the frump in both my hairstyle and my clothing. I wear my hair short with longer bangs, and my stylist advised me to use a paste product to give my hair movement and to make it look a little messy. It works! Thanks for this video!

Elizabeth Gradwell: I loved the scenery during your inspiring tips/mistakes! Beautiful state . . . The lowlights sound like a nice thing for me to try - my hair has been grey since I was in my 20's (naturally); but it is very WHITE now that I am turning 70 soon. May just try those lowlights . . . .

PEGGY TAYLOR: Justin, you’re right on top of it! Love your tips, your HINTS! You are the best!

Carole Ann Davis: I love these tips! I plan to make some changes soon, so this advice will be my guide. Thanks for sharing your expertise! Could you share some ideas for a cut that would help my round face look better?

MERRI Ella: I've been growing my gray hair out. Tempted on cutting it but like the idea of layering. Thanks for the tips.

Be4givN: Great video. Would love it if you would share ways to keep gray hair bright and prevent yellow grays, without chemical color or purple shampoo.

Carolyn Jesmer: Another entertains and informative video. Thank you. I’m currently living in Germany and lockdown since early November. I have lots of gray mixed with that ugly ash blonde...dull. Doesn’t look bad but want to amp it up with some platinum or very cool lights and edgy cut. Thoughts?

Cindy Loppnow: Would love to see more haircut styles for mature ladies. And do the lowlights work w previous light blondes, freckles and ruddy skin tones?

URHO: Thank you for your education and example of humility. Generous tips! ☺

Jama C: I love all the places you select. I loved seeing the eagles and great blue heron and river. Gorgeous! Thanks for all the mistake tips. I’m a mousey blonde with strands of gray in my roots and temples. I keep my hair highlighted or balayage lightened but in the past year I can see more grays in my natural grow out. Do you have tips for blondes going gray or how to manage it so it looks good. Many thanks!

caroltrendall63: Before you said it was an eagles nest in the background I'd stopped listening to you and just stared at it to see if I could figure out what it was. I live in a very different climate (Byron Bay Australia) but I live on 23 acres of natural bush and I have a resident family of wedgetail eagles that are the reason I get nothing done. I sit on my verandah and watch them every afternoon. But back to the hair...I love your ideas in this video and you've confirmed a lot of what I was already thinking about my hair (platinum pixie with dark lowlights), so thank you once again!

Jennifer Akes: Another tip is to keep it healthy, I have naturally grey hair since I turned 50 and no one believes me when I tell them my age. As we age our hair changes and the shampoo we have used in the past may strip it of healthy oils. Go with a shampoo that is good for grey hair (I personally use head and shoulders even through I do not have dandruff), condition it and you can even try adding certain vitamins and minerals to your diet to encourage healthier hair. I have always been a low maintenance kind of gal. Little to no makeup, more concentrated on skin care and sun screen than makeup and taking care of what I am blessed with. But Grey hair often is frizzier than youthful hair so you have to take additional steps to keep it healthy and glowing and soft. And do your best to keep it trimmed up even if that means taking the time to get it trimmed up more often than you have in the past to get rid of dead ends, just have them only take off what needs to come off instead of shortening it as much as you normally would have it cut. As we age we have to take better care of ourselves, make time to exercise to stay fit and active, eat healthier, and splurge by investing in a massage and hair cut. I have a monthly appointment for both to ensure I stay the best I can especially since I am in a youth oriented market. I feel better, I look better and to be honest is money I save in other areas by wearing a classic investment wardrobe built over several years, not following trends unless they are something I look amazing in so I shop less for new clothes and spend more on my body and mental health than I do on things that may wear out or go out of style.

Stella Yates: Thank you for pointing out it was an eagles nest as I was really focussed on it. I entirely forgot about the hair subject! Oregon looks amazing!

CSG22556: Love your videos Justin! Keep ‘em coming! Esp. advice for older women...age can be a bummer.

MAREN MCLEAN: That was awesome! I really enjoyed that! Hair is organic, nature is organic. They go hand in hand. Very healing to watch! Lot's of passion, fun, and humor. Oh but don't forget all the beauty!!!!!

Barb Lalonde: Love your ideas....I’m doing it....going natural....still young and active inside.

Linda Sgambati: Thank you for a great video. Loved the scenery, especially the birds. Do you have any tips specific to dry, curly hair, going grey? Thanks !

Rhubarb 68: Breathtaking scenery WITH narration. Great tips for mature women. I’m 71. Natural platinum since 58. Let my hair grow out quite long during lockdown and love it. The only downside is it is extremely fine and semi thin. I’m having some length taken off in two weeks. Added a few layers near my face last time. Do I dare add lowlights for texture and depth .. as I absolutely love my platinum which people comment on all the time.

Nicole Maddison: Tuned in for the info on grey hair, stayed for the scenery and animals- subscribed because you talk sense. Love the scenery, can’t wait to travel again. XXX

Hilary H: I would love suggestions for aging natural blondes. I now have a combo of mousey blonde with some sparkly (aka grey) blonde. I had been getting partial highlights and then got to where I would have her just do a few and do baby highlights because I get too blonde and since COVID I’ve been letting the highlights grow out so will have a fresh slate. I’m also in FL and my previously straight toothpick hair has become wavy/frizzy from so many years of constant humidity. And I lost a lot of hair at one point so it continues to grow back and have lots of shorter pieces that curl/frizz. Generally I hate my hair now.

H. Olsen: That's one heck of a waterfall. Great idea about the edgy cut idea. I like the scenery so anywhere you go is fine, the content is the most important part to me.

Danita Powell: First time I have ever watched a beauty video with such pretty outdoor scenery.

Origami and Cats: But since we haven't been able to get to the salon lately, maybe you should make a video about strategically gluing hair into the shape you want with hairspray.

eliete oliveira-janus: Thank you so much for this beautiful place you are showing to us. I am one of those who loves nature. I am 63, but I have young mind. I love you opinion about the hair style and color. I am trying to make my mind to keep my hair gray, but it isn’t easy at all .

Sabsa 70: I enjoy all of your hikes, views, tips, tricks... For me you can't go wrong . Love, Sabine

Dorina Tudisco: Super tips. Thank you! You’re really knowledgeable.

Leonella Panico: Thank you for posting this video. I’m 64 years young and have grey hair. I have been waiting for a video I can bring to my stylist. Keep doing what you do. ‍ also please post more videos on how to maintain grey hair. you are so talented in what you do.

Melissa Dunn: Question though: in some past video, you said something along the lines of layers in hair that you leave unstyled (air dried)can make your hair look damaged and yucky. My bob haircut (in January, 6 inches off!) is all one length because you said that. So...which thing should I do? And by the way I keep asking you what "internal layers" are and I haven't seen if you've replied. My stylist had no idea how those differ from regular layers?

Laurence Mattioli: Love your videos! So interesting, thanks for the tips and the landscape

The Pursuit Of Happiness: I love my stylist but have not had a haircut in a year because of the pandemic. It is 50 shades of gray, wavy and now down to waist . Thanks for showing longer and youthful styles. Lovely view but cold!

veronica mowbray: I love your knowledge and positivity you possess. Great scenery. I'm 56yrs old- what about course/frizzy prone hair?

B D: Great video Justin, and absolutely love the scenery. My problem is my grey hair yellows near the ends (I don't smoke). I've tried the purple shampoo to to cover it, but just don't know how to keep the yellow out. I just go with it now :(

Nicole Davies: Love the teaching BUT GOING on the tour at the same time is just amazing!!!! I just LOVE your style.... can you come to the “Great Southern Land’ and do my hair please? Lol

MsSam66ok: The scenery and wildlife was absolutely stunning Thank you for sharing. You can see the color of my hair in my profile pic. It’s so “white/platinum” I never thought of the black or low lights. Nice idea. In al my life I’ve never gotten so many questions of my hair color was nature or who colors your hair? I get compliments galore.

Sue: I was born with black hair... It went bright blond for a long time and since my 20s has become a dirty blond/light ash brown depending on who you ask. I see it as the ash brown. I'm also very cool toned and turning gray. Love my grays but... My hair looks dirty at this shade I hate it. I love these aging videos and the Eagles! Where I am there were no eagles until my hair stopped being blond, so it's always a delight to see them!!

Sue Stevens: Love the scenic walks and pictures. I live in PNW also, but haven't been to some of 'youe' places. (Yet !) Thx ! Ok, a question about lowlights in bleached short white/plarinum hair (transitioning). Can you use a 'Manic Panic' sort or thing to do lowlights instead of a permanent color ?

Lori: The Eagles brought tears to my eyes. What beautiful scenery where you are, no matter how long it takes to walk the path. lol! It is supposed to be nearly 70 degrees in GA today, and my favorite bird to view here is the Sandhill Cranes when they migrate. Breathtaking to hear and watch. Love bird watching. Look younger? yes. Look the best I can at the age I'm at? Yes. YES!!! And there it is. You answered my last question I had.....I DID go to the salon and got my lowlights/highlights back. One solid color is NOT GOOD on me. It makes my skin look better.

P. Clare: I have been wanting low-lights for years but it's almost impossible to find someone who I'd trust to do them right :)

joanna be free: Hi I’m new to your channel and I’m loving the nature scenery!!Thanks for the awesome tips as well.

Annette J. Gilmore: The scenery is beautiful!! It’s such a great idea to talk with that kind of background!! Thanks

Jackie Monk: I have natural gray/white hair & enjoyed this video, which answered a couple of questions. Living in South Texas where it's very humid & windy, my hair is frizzy, no matter what products I use. I've gone to wearing my hair short to try to help with the frizz. Any suggestions? By the way, you live in a beautiful area, I don't know if I'd get any work done.
