Hey guys welcome to my YouTube channel in today's video, I'm gon na be doing a platinum retouch with a rose gold finish and I'm gon na share with you guys. One of my favorite rose gold formulas with a twist and I'm gon na share how to retouch a platinum. So let's go alright guys, I'm so excited. Today I have one of my friends coming in and we are going to be doing a platinum retouch. She has had her roots growing out for about five weeks now. She is about a level four and so we're gon na be touching up her platinum roots. I'M gon na share with you guys all my tips and tricks for that, and then we're gon na be ready, freshing, her pink and doing a little bit of like a rose gold, pinkie kind of color on her cut it to match up my hair color. Do something a little bit fun with her and just to add a little bit more dimension into her current color, so I'm gon na mix up and I'll show you guys what we're starting with alright. So this is our starting canvas. You guys can see. We'Ve got you know about an inch or so of roots, and then we have a little bit of banding in there just from her previous color. That'S just been not quite lifted and then some of her existing kind of cotton, candy pink, so we're gon na be changing it up playing around with it. But I'm really just gon na show you guys how to do a platinum retouch and how I do that and then also how to add some fun colors in and how to add a little bit of dimension into her color. So this should be pretty fun. Alright. So I'm going to be mixing up our Wella blonde or I'm gon na do about a scoop and a half here and I'm actually going to be doing 35 on her, because she's got pretty dark roots. But I am gon na be putting some old flecks in there just to ensure that our hair sees as healthy as possible while we're processing it and I'm a remix for the back. But I just want to do a scoop and a half as we're doing kind of the beginning area all right, so I Section two, our hair out, basically the front from the back and then in this back section. I just sectioned out kind of this top area and I'm gon na work put them in this bottom area. First. The reason why I like to start in the back is because, if this area does process sooner which it probably will by the time you get to the front that way, we can rinse it out sooner than if we needed to rinse the front. So I'm just gon na start down here. Luckily, she only has just under an inch of regrowth, so I'm not gon na have to do this in two different sections. I'M just gon na be able to do a regular, Platinum retouch, but I just go in with my Lightner and I actually really like these brushes from frame arm. They helped me stay really precision. I only use them as I'm applying the lightener. I don't use them as I'm going back through and reapplying the light now, just because it does have the pin tail comb when we don't want it to. You know scratch the clients scalp or anything, but this does really help me. Keep it nice and clean and precision as I'm applying the lightener. So I'm just going to apply it to this bottom section here, as you guys can see, I'm applying it and I don't all the way go to this little area because that area is going to expand and it's going to the lightener is going to touch on The area so that way we're not getting a ton of overlap, and things like that, so you guys can see I'm just taking these thin little sections kind of working. My way up through this section and just applying a generous amounts of Lightner here all right. So I finished that bottom section and now I'm doing it as I kind of divided this hair. You guys can see it's like about like an inch wide section and I'm just taking almost like paper-thin slices and laying them down on top of the lightener and adding our Lightner on top of this. This helps so that I don't have to go back through and drag it down as I'm pulling back through this section. So I really like this technique and once I kind of get to about the round of the head, just kind of barely taking my thin slices and it really works with this kind of brush, because it's a precision brush, you guys can see that I'm fully saturating The hair there making sure that it's getting all the way through that section, even though they are really thin sections. We want to make sure that we're getting all the way through and not having any hollow spots, and I will go back in and check these as well all right. So I got to this top section and because I am going to take the sections and fold them over, I am going to take a little foil and just kind of clip it down so that, as I direct the hair over we're, not getting more of that Lightner onto the fresh hair that doesn't need to be lightened, so this kind of foil just protects it. I do this a lot when I'm doing even root, touch-ups and stuff, while my clients for gray hair things like that, so that the color doesn't squish on the freshly colored hair or the hair that doesn't need more product on it. So this is a really great technique for I'm just kind of protecting your surface area and making it a lot easier on yourself and you guys can see as I'm going throughout the head, I'm doing really really thin sections again. This is making sure that we get Lightner all the way through the hair. She does have fine hair, which is great, but usually it takes me about 45 minutes to apply my platinum retouches, whether it's blonde or pink or whatever. If I'm doing a platinum retouch, it takes me about 45 minutes to apply it, because I am going really precision and really slow with it on versus taking nice thick sections, where the lightener is going to have that issue where it doesn't actually get through all the Hair and then you have spotty marks and you have to go back through and relight those, so I would rather spend the time on my application versus having to go back through and fix things alright. So I finished this section down below and again I did the foil on top of my section as I have moved to the next section, just because, as I lay this hair over, I don't want this hair to be sitting in Lightner by any means, and so I'M going to just apply our light, not going over this side, and it helps me just keep my sections really really clean again, like I say I do spend a little bit more time, applying my platinum retouches, but again it makes a big difference because my clients, Hair is a lot healthier and I don't have to stress about them breaking off, or things like that, which is obviously a big issue when it comes to doing a lot of platinum, retouches over and over again, especially every four to five weeks. So this just ensures the health of my clients hair as much as I can alright. So we finished her entire head application, and so now I'm gon na go back to this section that I started in and I actually switched out my brush just to get a clean brush. But I also didn't want to use the tail comb because I didn't want to irritate her scalp or by means like scratch, it or anything like that, so I'm just going in with a regular brush and literally all I do is I pull apart the hair and I'M looking for any spots that maybe look Hollow or that needs reset raishin. This is actually looking really good down here so because I had gone through as I was applying her color and just reset rating throughout I'm not really too concerned. But you would want to check for any spots that are maybe hollow or deep, or something like that or spots that are maybe drying out. So this is just kind of a good little cross-check thing. It also gets a little bit of air into your clients head, because sometimes we know that it could be a little bit irritating and warm. So this is kind of nice just to kind of give them a little bit of rest, while they're here is processing. So all this goes through her head just kind of little section by section making sure everything looks really good all right, so she has been processing for a little bit. I did put a cap over her head just to kind of keep some of that moisture and heat in you guys could see. We have lifted to a really nice pale, yellow underneath here and so she's pretty much ready to rinse underneath here, especially because we are doing pink. We don't need it to be like platinum white, you know, but she's already, lifting really good and again we don't want to add any additional damage, though we are gon na rinse. Just this back section. Her front has a few more minutes, but we'll rinse. This now she's ready okay. So while she is processing, I'm actually going to mix up her root color and I'm gon na throw in some low light. So I just added a little bit of white conditioner. That'S gon na act as our base, but the majority of our color, it's gon na, be the mob quartz and the bronze, and so I'm just gon na start mixing it up. And basically, what I do is I put the color in and I mix it until it becomes the color that I've want it to be. It'S almost like mixing up water color so because we want it to be a little bit deeper at the root and I'm gon na start with a good base of equal parts of mob and bronze, and I just kind of eyeball it. And then I am going to use some pulp riot Cupid here, and this just adds a good like deep, pink in there. I'M just gon na do a tiny bit cuz, it's really concentrated, and then I'm also gon na do just a squirt of the probe on a black additive, literally like a dot just like that. This actually will deepen the color quite a bit, but we don't want it to get too dark. So I like to do that. It also smokes it out a little bit so now, I'm just gon na mix it up and again, I'm just kind of looking for the tone that I want and I want it to be more in the rose gold but like a deep rose gold for her Roots and then, like I said, we'll do some lowlights with this and then we'll pull like a lighter, pink through friends or just utilize, the pink that she already has so that's kind of the fun thing about her pink is anytime, I'm doing a vivid color. I like to utilize the colors that they already have so one thing I like to do too, when I'm mixing it, my color is once I've kind of mixed it up just to kind of get an idea of where we're at I like to test it out On a paper towel now I know that her hair color is a little bit more warm than the white paper towel. So taking that into account, this will be a little bit warmer, but I'm really liking the tone that that's picking up. So I'm just going to make up a bit more, I might add a little bit more pink into it, but I'm really loving how that looks all right, so I'm putting it olaplex in number two in her hair we're gon na. Let this sit on for about ten minutes, while she kind of just relaxes and we're just gon na let this kind of help close down. I'M not really close down the cuticle, but really just kind of repair. A lot of that hair after it just got freshly lightened and then we'll shampoo her out because we're gon na apply in her conditioner color on top of that. But we want to make sure that we shouldn't put her hair out because we're not going to actually shampoo out that final color, so we'll do the shampoo and then we'll get on to it after that all right, so we rinsed her out. We did old life number two we've shampooed and now I just rough dry, her pretty quickly. We obviously didn't dry it a hundred percent just a little bit of damp, but that's okay. You guys can see. We just have this nice clean canvas. Now some of this scares you guys if we have some warmth in there and that's okay, I'm actually gon na be utilizing the warmth that we have in her roots and her a little bit of leftover pink to work into her color right now and that's what I like doing is working with the canvases that I have so I'm going to be applying her color. You guys can see. This is the color that we mixed up. I'M really loving how it looks and I'm gon na apply it to about an inch and a half down from her roots and then we'll go through and apply a little bit lighter on the ends, all right. So I just went through and I applied it to the front of her hair. I just kind of comb it through with this welcome. I love this comb. This is the Wow. Come you guys can find them on Instagram. It'S just wow wo W comb, but it doesn't drag down the color. So I like using this for color melts and now I'm gon na apply it to the back of her hair. But what I'm gon na do is I'm gon na use that foil trick that I showed you guys earlier so, even though we use it for bleach, we're actually gon na be using it for her color so that, as I'm laying this over and applying her color, I'M not going to worry about this hair getting color on it, so this is a really great chicken. Like I said, I use this kind of oil trick all the time, so I hope that you guys start utilizing that so what we're doing is you're just applying the color, like, I said about an inch and a half down and I'm applying a lot of color. Sometimes, with freshly lightened hair, you want to make sure that you're getting a lot of that color in there, so that there's not those hollow spots. So I do apply quite a bit of color in there just to make sure that that's not happening so we'll continue down and I'll show you guys when we get around to the front all right. So I have her root formula and we have a little bit left over. So what I'm gon na use is I'm actually going to use this color as the base to mix up her end. So I'm just gon na take a little bit of this color and I'm going to pump some conditioner now again, as my conditioner base, I just use a white base. Conditioner, it doesn't need to be anything fancy. This is just extra conditioner that I had kind of around, so it doesn't need to be anything in particular, but I just like to use a white base one, because that way, I'm not having any other colors. You know mixing in there, so I'm just gon na mix this a little bit lighter - and I like this because I'm using her root color as her base, and so it's just going to make it a lot easier to mix up this in color and make it A lot easier to apply so I'm just gon na kind of mix this guy up till I get to the color that I'm happy with and then we're gon na apply it to friends all right. So her time is up. We'Ve let her process for about 25 minutes and now I'm gon na actually rinse her hair on cool water. So I like to do this for a lot of my vivid colors or things like that. I know it feels a little uncomfortable for the clients, but I like to rinse it as cool as possible as long as they can handle it. But this is just gon na help, ensure that color stays in kind of lock in that cuticle as well, and we're not going to ship for this, I'm gon na rinse. It really really good because this is a lot of conditioner in the hair, and I just want to let it settle in the hair as long as much we can. But I will use the violas raw, aesthetic, milk rinse and that's gon na help also kind of seal in that cuticle as well all right, so I'm putting the biologic milk Reds in and you guys can see her color looks already so good. But what we're gon na do is we're gon na just basically put this all over her hair and let it sit in for about ten minutes all right, and here is our final look. I love how it turned out. I love that we did a little bit deeper every route, you guys look so shiny. It looks so healthy, definitely adding in olaplex and the aesthetic milk rinse helps a ton with that kind of stuff. So I would highly recommend checking those two out. If you don't already, but I just love how this turned out, see all the dimension and all the different colors in there, I think it's so pretty. Alright. Thank you so much for watching this YouTube video. I hope that you guys enjoyed this process. This is something a little bit different than what I normally do, but I wanted to share with you guys my technique for doing a platinum, retouch and, of course, my signature of rose gold color. Tanja Kuller: You are absolutely amazing. The time you take for each client and the awesome techniques you have really shows in the end results! Always gorgeous

The Hailey Diaries: This was so informative and the finished look was so stunning! I am gonna try this on myself but with a violet. Wish me luck! (Don’t worry I have done wild colors to my own hair for like 10 years - very self taught skilled)

Thomas Vasquez: I recommend to get a clear semi direct dye to dilute your semi color because it helps keep it super shiny and vibrant, yes conditioner helps but the conditioner dilutes the shine from the semi that is made to be very vibrant

Homero Montoya: Hi thank you for your videos they’re beautiful And very informative! Tbh until recently I’ve always been scared of platinum clients so I’ve always talked them out of it I use Olaplex but I struggle with overlapping or leaving those little spots of dark between the previous blond and the new retouch. Even when I take paper thin sections and apply very precisely! Is there any advice you could give me?

Mariko Siegert: I have been watching your videos for a couple of days now. You are amazing! There are other famous hair gurus, like Guy Tang, who do incredible colors on their clients' hair, but what you create is so much more wearable every day. :) I have dark Asian hair and have not been coloring or bleaching it for at least a few years, because it is hard to maintain any colors. After watching your videos, though, I want to try something fun, like the golden rose that you have been showing us. Thank you so much for the inspiration!!

Lori M.: Color has always been my Passion, and as we all know the learning never ends. I love the foil trick! You always have a mess once you move the sections down to start the front, no matter how clean you apply, so excellent tip. I’ll be using this daily

Marisa Brocco: Gorgeous work!!! Totally love this!!! Thank you for sharing!!! I really enjoyed how you showed how to do this step by step formula and all!!!

Bryant Kendra: Oh, I love how this turned out! Beautiful dimensions of rose!!!

The L’ston: You’re so creative! I look forward to always seeing your videos! Love your looks. Wish I had a client that would let me do that to their hair!

The Zen Room & Studio: loved seeing how you used one formula for the roots and then took that as a base to create for the mids to ends - I like the way you think! I also like how you shared your platinum retouch with using foil to protect the other hair. You make it all look so easy! because it can be :) thanks! I also like that you share the timing of how long takes to do. sometimes I think I’m slow but now I realize I’m not lol just wondering what you would have charged her for this.

Alisha Leska: Looks beautiful! Great job!

Vanessa Yelavich: Love your videos! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!

Carolina Mujica: Hi! I love your technique! The video was super informative and well explained!! <3 I have a question tho, how long do u left the lightner on the front area? In the video u said that u take like 45 min to apply the lightner, so i believe that when you finished the front area the back was almost ready

Sami NK: can we see more of you styling the hair and finishing it plzzzz. i love when u wash the hair something so relaxing about it haha i love your videos i have so much motivation working in the salon ever since i found your channel. your amazing

perla baron: I completely stopped doing my “hair coloring” homework to watch this video! It turned out beautiful! Can’t wait to have a client at school that would let me play with her hair so I could do something like this!

Miss Viking: I’m so impressed. So much outgrowth and you pulled it up to a full level 10!!!

Tanya DeMillo: I learn so much from your videos! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Julia pfeiffer: Love the blending techniques and that you used her original darker shade also as her lighter shade by adding conditioner.

Orla-Kate O'Neill: So beautiful Jamie wish I can be as amazing as you someday ❤️

Kitty Fathers: I seriously love you hun. Nailed it again. Thanks for sharing!

Jaclyn Jennings: I love the idea of using the left over color for her ends. Also, I saw your foil trick in another video and have been using it since! Love watching your videos and learning new tricks. Thank you for posting!

Christie Robertson: Beautiful! Favorite thing is your attention to detail with correctly applying product.

milkskin: omg you do everything with such precision... i love itttt..you are awesome !!! ❤️

Asigg Looks: Great video! You are an amazing educator! I do have a question: what is the purpose of the conditioner when you mixed up the rose gold color? I’ve never seen that done before

Florida PieLady: I love the pink! I would love to see a dark brown shadow root that goes into a very deep pink shadow only the edges (just to give the illusion of a pink shadow coming off the dark roots) that then goes into a bright silver with multi-color pink streaks (pastel pink, some bright pink, medium etc). Also, a mix of pastel and bright pink highlights around the face. I have been looking for something like this forever. I see certain parts but never the entire look on one person. If you ever get a chance to do this look please I would be forever grateful.

Karina: Beautiful! I have been using the foil technique after seeing your trick thank you!

The Orange Huntress: I love the foil to separate your sections and adding just that dot of black to your formula. It looks beautiful!

Amee Mohamed: YESSS BEAUTIFUL! I LOVE ALL OF IT .

Angela Rosado: So beautiful ! U do amazing work !

Katrine Jones: I made a beautiful rose gold shadow root mixing Cupid and a few drops of Chromasilk color lush Copper boost.

Karen McDoanld: Great Video I Love the idea of the foil on top, its always hard for the hair not to lay on top of color. Good trick I will remember that next time I color or bleach!! Thank you

Leah Browning: So pretty I love this colour! Is there a particular brand you prefer for your colours? I normally use milkshake (which I personally adore) but would love to try something new xx

Keira Goodwin: What do I do now that I’ve watched all of your videos?! I’ve been a licensed for about 8 years and I can’t get enough of your videos! More more more! Lol

Sheila Lee: Hey there! I love you shared the formula!!!!! The foil trick is really cool also!!!! Thank you

J. Doe: That was quite a lot of work! Can you do a break down on what this service is called? Cause I saw you cut, bleached, did the roots, but also did a smudge root, and refreshed the hair. I don't know how one would explain this to a client? Is it considered color correction and full color? Thank you!

deanna bocchino: Would you do the same process for the retouch if your client had 2 -2.5 inches of regrowth? Or would you recommend applying directly on the scalp after the other areas were applied?

Margie Soapyhair Billian: Wonderful. Thank you.

Jenna-Marie Heon-Cowley: i love how you use dyes that non-professinals can use!

Bella Stylesss: Do you always use conditioner for your base for those types of dyes? Does it color better then if you were not too add it or is it a necessary step? Thanks in advance I love your helpful tips

1sweetmess: I loooove this color My favorite part is painting on the color. It's just so satisfying to me.

Cath Swinscoe: So inspiring thank you

Christina Taggart: Nice work! Can you tell me how you were able to get so close to the scalp without getting hot roots? Thank you!

GlamByJazzyC: Omg if you ever need another model for something like this I’m your girl and I’m always down for something fun as well

Mirai Maeda: I always love watching your video.  A lot of chelmical tips and technique. Fun watching every time ^_^

April's Style by Design: I love your energy & transparency! The attention to detail makes me think you’re a Virgo (?).. it’s always worth it to take the time! & what takes “good”, to “great” in the outcome!

Mckayla Morales: Do you recommend Wella Blondorplex? Have you used it before? Thanks ☺️

Kadiya Ewers: I loved the technique you used, do you always dry off to do a vivid colour after bleach?

Marisca Aling: Loved it! Thanks so much. I do have some questions though, help me please! I went to a salon to lighten my hair. its prob about a level 9, and i started around level 6? Then i wanted a blush/pastel pink colour. I want to retouch myself at home due to my personal budget :D I am trying to find a good solution to get the least damaging to my hair. I think i should touch up my routs witch bleach/30 vol. Then also bleach my mids and ends because i want a level 10. dye my roots, and then mids and at last my ends with cause they're probably dry AF so they would suck in the colour faster so i don't have darker ends. Do you have any tips for me?

Smilesremember2Smile: What does the acid milk rinse do? Is it to close the cuticle?

April's Style by Design: I love your energy & transparency! The attention to detail makes me think you’re a Virgo (?).. it’s always worth it to take the time! & what takes “good”, to “great” in the outcome!

Megan Bradley: Why use conditioner as a base for the root color? Love your vids! Thanks

Chris Slayer: This couldn’t have come at a better time! I need your help with formulation, if you don’t mind me picking your brain. The owner of the salon I work at wants me to help her with her daughter in laws hair. She added pink to her prelightened hair today (it was at a level 9 YELLOW tone) and when she added the pink, the girls hair was more of a tangerine color, after processing. What can I we do to help her have cotton can’t pink hair she wanted? We added the pravana pink Pastel color btw! Thanks in advance!!!!

Victoria Whittaker: Hey there I love your work! I saw you were using metallic color on her hair. Does that cause any issues while lifting? Or is it just the name of the color?

Nicole Quartel: How long does this pink colour last?

Abigail Caballero: I really like this, very beautiful

Shanga Gyana: where can i find/buy the green brush your using? Love your videos!

Lindsey Steffen: Amazing!!!!

mayra: Any tips on applying super sensitive scalp even with just 20v

dantescave1: amazing!

Jennifer Bressler: I loved this Jamie!

Jennifer Cheek: wHAT TONER CAN YOU USE ON ROSE GOLD TO BRING IT TO MORE OF A PEACH

Fer Flores: OMG, so pretty

Penelope Ray: The most beautiful color I’ve ever seen.

Morgan Allen: Love the technique, but when using on scalp bleach I do not like to use those brushes by if you were to barely scratch her head I feellike the bleach could burn a little

Coffee Before Beauty: LOVE LOVE LOVE!!

McKayla Willever: you really did that!!!

Nicole: Love it! What’s the song @ the end? Beautiful

Sylvia Moon: You are so good what brand color do you use?

Paola Rodriguez: Love that color

Honey Beary: please please please can you do more 'greys 50% 75% +' on beautiful fashionistas with blond hi-lites and some brunettes as well? Thank you :)

Brooke Triplett: I really loved this video. I'm going to bleach at home and showing me this technique was very helpful. I will use it! One final thing: I'm not saying this to be a jerk, just really wanted to use this as a teaching moment. The word you are looking for is "precise" not "precision".

Sarah Finn: Love this

missironmouse: Wish your videos were around back when I was in beauty school in 07!

Ebba Rensvik: Wow Did you not use any developer in the rosé color? Just conditioner?

Luky Luky: Fantastica!!! Ti seguo dall italia grazie per i tuoi video... per avere quel rosa hai usato colori diretti?

Carrisa Ramos: Amazing

Rachel Zandieh: Hunny, you are so informed and accurate. Can I suggest something? You keep using the word "precision" as an adjective. It is a noun. "You achieve a lot of precision with this comb" is correct, but you said "I am going really precision" multiple times. You would say, I am being very "precise" with her hair. Only trying to help cuz you're video is really good and I enjoy watching you more than other people because you don't sound whiny or fake and it was incredibly thorough

Lauren Cutler: She only bleached the roots, so how come after washing she has almost no pink left in the lengths of her hair??

Juliana Corsino: I missed your videos so much ♥️

Sandra Arellano: As always I'm excited to see your work, wishing I didn't live so far away!

Makeup By Foss: do you do these videos for soon to be stylists to learn? or is it not good to follow tips from videos? Like if i’m in school should i follow these tips and tricks?

V P: What color pink do you have in your hair?

Meredith Barnes: Where can I find that head rest you have in your shampoo bowl??

Erin K.: 45 mins to apply!!

elena mill:

Juliana: Have you had any problems mixing brands?

Natalie Ohlsson: The roots are cool

Y F: I feel like if I add these colors to my dark hair it won’t show

Felicity Vega: I really wish you did patreon or premium IG etc I've had so many clients come in for corrections watching professional YT on bleaching Being licensed I know what you're doing and why But clients that want to save on a salon visit don't and end up doing 40vol on scalp then running that same lightener over their previously lifted ends to lift it up as well and end up wrecked As a stylist I love your tips and techniques but your platform gives false confidence and knowledge to home color jobs
