#hair #tips #blonde #hairdresser #diy #style

Hey guys, So I'm so excited to film this video for you guys.. Today'S topic is definitely something I've touched on, but I don't think I've ever really made a video. That'S like full-on, like in-depth, explaining and it's very simple, but I figured it it's time to do a video on this, because the number of questions I get asked about this at the salon - and you know friends that know that I do hair. That asked me this and that is ``. What is the right? Hair color for your skin tone ?'', And I hear this all the time at the salon. ,'', My skin is really dark, so I could never be blonde.'' Or ``. I have very gold undertones, so my hair could never be light.'' And, along with that, not just it's not just about the lightness but there's other colors that I've totally heard people say like ``. Oh, I can never be a redhead or I could never be this.'' And the good news is, is you can be whatever you want and I'm not just saying that to be. You know positive and you know like you can do whatever you want, but that is the one hundred percent truth.. As long as you have the right tone for your hair, you can be whatever color on the scale from like brunette to blonde.. Before I think before I even start speaking in before, you think that I am absolutely crazy. Let me just show you a picture of Beyoncé and the picture of Rihanna and how amazingly gorgeous they look as blondes., And so if they can be blonde with their beautiful, warm skin tones. Anyone can. And the reason for that is because they have a correct tone for them.. Now the upside to having a warm gold tones in your skin is that you could have a lot more gold hair and get away with it and make it look awesome.. So if you see these two colors that I just showed, you they're actually pretty gold blonde, but you see it as very bright and buttery and the reason for that is because, in contrast to their skin, it makes it look really bright and white.. Now, someone that is cool toned skin, even if they are very fair, whether they're, fair or not, but if they are cool toned. Normally any bit of gold tones in their hair will make. It seem like it's extremely orange because their face is almost wider than their hair.. Does that make any sense? So a very quick and awesome trick that I learned a couple of years: ago. If you feel your hair is extremely brassy up the bronzer that day and your hair will look amazing. Now, I'm not saying you know, go completely oompa loompa orange or anything, but it Will make a huge difference in that contrast, because you see the cheek color, then you see the hair color and it's like ``. Oh, it's totally balanced.''! So, and that's because you're, adding warmth and if your face is warm, then the eye is much more forgiving and seeing warmth in the hair in your hair color. If that makes sense so far., Let me break it down for you a little bit. So for warm skin tones. You can have a lot more gold and a lot more warmth in the color, even some orangey gold pieces, and that will work as an accent to your face, not hurting., So it'll actually like enhance and make your face, look really glowy.. So if you have that kind of leeway space that some of us don't have where you can be a little bit brassy, but it looks amazing on you. Now what doesn't look good is anything cool and let me show you a picture here of a warm skin Tone with ashy hair that doesn't look as good. As you can see. Her skin looks a lot more dull and almost lifeless., So she needs definitely those gold, vibrant colors in her hair to make her feel alive. Not to make her feel but to make her look. Alive. And now for cool skin tones, they need extremely cool ashy colors in their hair.. So this is what I was talking about, and this is what a lot of girls experience and that's why they think like ``, My hair, still orange !'', but sometimes like your hair, is not orange.. It'S just that you have a cool complexion and then, therefore, your hair needs to be extremely extremely ashy.. So don't think that like ``, Oh people with cool skin tones have it a lot harder because they have to always have ashy colors.''. The thing with that is normally their hair will pull up a lot ashier naturally., So it is much easier to make someone who is cool skin toned a lot ashier and I will show you a picture of someone with cool skin with golden kind of a tones In their hair, where it doesn't look right., So you kind of get a better understanding of what that looks. Like. Same thing with redheads. Red is so so diverse. You have cool bluish, almost purply toned reds, and then you have the intense rich, warm reds that have like orange undertones, yellow gold undertones.. So again you can be a redhead.. So a lot of people that have like a lot of pink or red in their skin. They think they ``. Oh my gosh. I totally need to stay away from red. I'm trying to get rid of this red.. I don't want red around my face.'', But the good thing about that is, if you do have red in your hair and you make your hair even more red, then the red on your skin doesn't look that bad or it doesn't really look like. It is red because you know what your hair is so much more red., So the eye focuses on that., It's just a matter of if you have a lot of pink in your skin you're, probably cool toned which a beautiful like cool red like a almost a Violety kind of red that will look gorgeous on you. And, like I said, it'll make your skin look more milky and less red because you have this intense color on your head.. So now, if you're neutral, you can kind of go a little bit of both ways and that's what I am. And that's why I, I think a lot of people think that my hair is extremely blonde or extremely white or very ashy.. My hair is not ashy. Whatsoever. But because I am neutral and I do wear a lot of self-tanning and a lot of bronzer, my hair ends up looking extremely bright.. So when you're neutral, you can kind of go both ways.. So if I'm wearing a blue top - and I don't wear any bronzer and I'm wearing like a grey nude kind of a Taupe eye look then I look extremely cool and then my hair looks extremely cool.. Then my hair needs to be extremely ashy. Otherwise, it looks completely yellow., So when you're neutral, you can kind of go both ways. Now that doesn't mean that, like ,'', Oh, I can wear this orange top and wear like ashy hair.''. No, it means that you have to stick to one.. It just means that both look good on you, but you have to stick to one., So I normally stick to more warm tones. Warm tones like on the eye shadow.. I like, like I said I like to self tan and I like to wear a lot of bronzer., So in doing that, I'm a lot more forgiving on the hair and that's because I have that ability to go to that. So the only girl that has the excuse of ``, I need extremely extremely ash. Hair'' is the girl that has super cool toned skin.. What I don't want you to get is stuck in the idea that you know, based on the skin color. You have you're like stuck to having this one hair color., So this was meant to broaden your horizons and really just you know, if there's a hair color that you've always wanted, just know that you can have it. Just figure out what your skin tone is. There's. Another chart here that will help you kind of decide.. One of the easiest ways is to look at your veins on the inside part of your arm, because you're normally not too tanned there and the color of your veins.. If you come up pretty blue, then you are cool toned. And if your veins look a little bit more greenish and your skin almost a yellow, then you are warm. - And I've mentioned this before for years. I'Ve known about that and I'd like check, and it was like some days I felt like I was blue some days felt like I was green, and then it was just like ,''. Why can't I could get this out Like I do color for a living. Seriously like. Why can't I figure my own color out ?'', And then I realize that I am neutral. Like, and that is why I, it doesn't really look like a specific color. And a lot of you guys might have that. So that just kind of gives you the power Of control and that you can be warm or cool. You just have to to stick to one.. You can't be you know, cool eyes and gold hair, and then you know cool outfit or whatever.. You have to like stick to one in order to fit to look. Good. Again, I think, with trends, anything beauty, its do what you want. Obviously, but obviously you guys are here because you guys want to know the facts and the rules.. My point of these videos is that you fully understand it and you can go off into real life and you can make those decisions.. You can decide what skin tone you are, what face shape you are and what looks good on you.. I'M trying to give you the tools so that you yourself can decide like what's good for you.. I would like to know how many people actually know what skin tone they are If you're cool warm or neutral. So please leave that down below, like how did you find out? Do you know? Are you still super confused by this video and still would love to know? I kind of almost just want to take a poll on every viewer to this video like because I feel like it's just it's one of those things like it's as important. As I don't know, simple math. Like I wish, you were taught this in school., So you know that first day in kindergarten, when you you know, learn you know, red and blue and yellow and green and orange. Teacher should sit you down and be like ,''. Let'S figure out what you know, each of one, your skin tone is.'' Just to make it a little bit easier and breezier in the years to come., And that's kind of the same thing that I feel that we should all do with our colors.. We should embrace the color, you are and just make it awesome. Not trying to fight it, not try and like change it.. Even though I do change my hair color., I obey my skin tone If that makes any sense, because that's who's the boss., Also if you're still here, I give you an awesome thumbs up for listening through., But I would like to know what you guys want to See in a video next., Do you want more hair tips? Do you want a makeup look, Do you want, like a Q & A go ahead and leave that below like what you would like to see in the next couple of videos.? If you have more than one idea, I would love to hear it. Every time I just read a comment of your's. I just think like `` This person, you know even if they just spent one minute of their lives like watching. You know a part of my video that really just makes me so thankful.'' How much we really are honored to have you as an audience. I definitely don't take you guys for granted.. I .... It'S definitely not easy., I'm not going to say it's easy speaking front of the camera does not come natural to me., But even more so I think that's why I'm so thankful for having the audience that I have, because I think a huge part of me believes That you guys believe in me and to do something that I didn't believe I could do. So and I feel, like a lot of people, have been commenting saying that I look a lot more comfortable recording and I think the way I feel literally when I sit Down - and I click that record button is that I really feel like I'm talking to a friend like I feel like I've read enough comments. I feel, like I interact with you, and I actually feel like there are these friends that I'm having a conversation with.. It'S just I speak everything that I need to say and then in comments later I get your reply., It's not a you know. I say you know a sentence and you say a sentence, but it is a really cool relationship and I just I want you guys to know that.. So for any of you, that's ever clicked any of my videos, any of you that have given me a thumbs up. I appreciate you so much., You guys have no idea, and you just you know, teach me everyday that you know try something different and don't be afraid of being judged if you feel like you're, giving something right to the world.. I know that there are probably bigger things in life to to figure out, but all I can give you is my knowledge and my knowledge is inherent., So I want to spread that with the world, and you know if a few people make fun of me for How I speak on camera? That'S totally okay. if I just helped even just one person with each of my video., So I will be done with the spiel now, but thank you guys so much for watching.. I love each and every one of you and I will see you next Saturday. Bye,

Li-Mary Botha: I love how much she knows about hair. The hairdressers where I live only know how to do hair, they don't know what will look good on different people, so I don't find them very helpful but you know your story girl!

Annabelle Parsons: The last part of this video was just so heartfelt and beautiful, thank you for being so vulnerable with us, I love your content so much! X

Natalie Vescovi Poirier: So same Elle, I am in the esthetic wellness business and always “ am I blue\green???? Oh,,, right I am Neutral” ...as always...thank you for the vulnerable heart videos ...your genuine and real...I’m thankful for YOU! And YOUR PROFESSIONAL BRILLIANCE AND INTEGRITY MATTERS AS WELL....YOUR THE TEACHER TOO!

Mimi Ramone: Thanks Elle! I love how you've been also explaining things for the brunettes who are bleached blonde. I've recently began doing my own hair (roots only for now) and watch/listen to your videos in succession. I'm new to Vlogs + hair coloring and you're my go-to girl :). Your words at the end were an extra dose of Inspiration that I needed to hear today. You have come a long way! Stay Gawdeous! xo

maria molinari: Girlfriend this video was so amazing!! I’m a colorist too and I’ve been trying to figure out why my skin tone is and what looks good on me until I realized I’m neutral too which is why everything looks fine!! lol. I also self tan and love bronzer so this was so helpful! Thank u so much for sharing!! Xoxo

Melon Lord: I got that "I never leave the house" tone

Cassandra Reinhart: I've been confused about my skin tone since I learned about it. I could never tell if my veins were blue or green. Now I know my skin tone is neutral and I love it.

Ellen Lent: Thanks, Elle! This was quite informative! I worked in the Major Motion Picture Industry & did some Television over a 30 year span & I know what works & what doesn’t. You have a wonderful presence on camera & are genuinely teaching your audience effectively! I am extremely impressed with the level of your professionalism. I also have 3 nieces who are colorists & brilliant stylists. I have yet to experience them explaining as you do so well the basics of color & how it works between your skin & hair. Plus I love that you encourage people that there is always another approach to make an unusual pairing work with color adjustments to the skin, et al. I am wondering, for doing one’s own hair at home with a friend as key helper, do you prefer Schwarzkopf or Madison Reed in the lightest shades of blonde? Thank you. Ellen Lent

Pam Lewis: I used to think I was cool toned but have now learned, thanks to you, that I am actually neutral. That explains a lot of confusion I've had on what colors/tones complement my complexion best. Thanks for all you do! ; )

Gloria Lyons: Thank you for the education!!! I have always said I can't be a blonde because it washes me out Now that I found out about toning hair, I am the blonde that I've always wanted to be. This makes SOOO much since!! Thank you

Ralitsa Gospodinova: Dear Silvia, throughout my youtube history I have been coming to your channel. I have always found valuable answers when researching possible hair changes. I have been blessed with very thick and strong hair that unfortunately requires a lot of money to be drastically changed. AND thanks to this video I decided and went cool red purple colour which on my cold tone pinkish skin looks absolutely amazing and my eyes look greener :D thank you for helping me wake up my inner Ariel hahahaha <3 <3 <3 I wish I could come for an appointment in your salon!

cachaceira2: This is the HAIRDRESSER I trust! I bleached my hair to very light always following your advices. I am a neutral to warm ( depending of how tan I am, and yes, self tanning!!), and although my hair tone is butter goldish blonde, it looks very white. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

Susan De Fazio: LOVE this video!  Thank you so much for making it.  I'm a natural brunette but single/highlight to blonde.  My summer shade is perfect with my blue eyes and neutral skin tone but my winter is rough.  I pull red undertones in my hair so my shades go brassy easily.  I always think I need to use an ash color to counter balance the brashness but I think I need to brighten my hair color to balance my pale winter skin tone.  You are awesome and I look forward to watching more of your posts!  xo

Victoria Blair: I'm white with yellow undertone to my skin, my hair is neutrally dark brown and I've always thought it looked a bit harsh on me so since last year I've been adding lighter highlights to my hair which has softened my face so i think I'm doing the right thing :)

Tina Jackson: I just found your channel and I WISH I had your advice years ago! However, 44 and having Lupus, you make me want to "make myself look and feel better". Thank you!! I will be sharing your channel with my 21 & 19 year old daughters too. I don't think you're awkward on camera, you're being real and you!

Megan: I am a natural red blonde level 8 and I for sure thought I was always cool tone but too much ash can look dead. I am a neutral, I discovered this after a long process and thinking I was 100% cool tone but the natural red does have some gold in it and it does warm the face. My best blonde tones if I go natural are like a dirty violet beige (which I would have never picked my self but after years of experimenting is the best on my tone skin) for highlights which are now about a level 10. If you are a redhead and you think you are cool tone, check to see you are not neutral esp in make up as I see a million shops try to sell "fair" foundations in pink undertones when you need yellow to balance the red in the skin and the pink tones are best for fair asian skin tones.

Brittany Flores: I'm the lightest warm tone and I have black hair. I've been wanting to dye my hair almost a dark burgundy and have tested what the shade looks like against my skin. I love the color and can't wait to get it done for the first time. Thanks for this video, it really helped me feel even more comfortable with the choice I've decided to make.

bodine219: I watched this video months ago and now that I’m actually thinking about dyeing my hair I remembered it and searched for it. Thanks for putting this out there!! I want reddish hair, but I’m cool toned and was afraid I couldn’t pull it off.

Oksana Nechitailo: I’ve always had a hard time figuring out undertone because the deepness of the shade is also a factor. Since I have very fair skin, and most companies don’t carry foundation that light, I always looked too pink, yellow, or orange. I’m neutral, but the lightest shades in many lines are too dark and therefore orange. I also find that when companies make very fair shades, they are usually cool-toned since it’s more common with fair skin. Anyways, I’m neutral! If I have to pick a foundation that’s not perfectly neutral, I prefer I but more yellow so it counteracts my blemishes. I prefer neutral and cool eyeshadows, lip, and clothes. If it’s warm like orange or red, it has to be bright to contrast my fair skin. I found this video because I’m looking for the right shade of pink-purple hair for my skin tone. I prefer my hair to be icier blonde. I stumbled on another video and lo and behold, I preferred the neutral tone!

Erika Bredee: I absolutely love your channel Elle! Keep making videos please : )

Lisa Medlin: I found your channel today and absolutely love all of your videos. I have watched so many Love your hair! My thoughts were exactly what you were saying about hair color. In the past, I have stayed away from red bc it tends to turn orange . I’ve developed rosacea over the past few years and have super sensitive skin. But when I look at my arm to see if I am cool or warm? ~ I have no idea!! I have some freckles, could I be neutral? I also have a very hard time matching foundations to my skin tone. So confused!

Michelle Quick: I'm neutral. It took ages to figure that out. Now that I know what I am, I love it. What do you think about a sprinkling of cool and warm toned highlights in a natural head of brown hair on a person with neutral skin tone? Perhaps they could be placed such that one hair style makes the cool ones more prominent and vice versa?

Animal crackers: Thanks so much for this! Also, there's cool and warm olive and yellows for Asians, Hispanic, some southern Europeans :) I have cool olive(ashy) skin and ash or neutral blonde looks best on me. I've heard so many Asian and Hispanic people say they can't do blonde, but you're right, it's all about warm with warm and cool with cool.

Kirsten: I'd love to see a hair journey of one of your clients or a hair model. Maybe someone starting with very damaged hair over time to a healthier style. Or someone who is going from a dark to light hair color.

Jess E: I love that you do these information videos. Really helps when you're in the hairdresser's to avoid that blank stare when they ask you what you want. I can imagine it must be difficult for them when I tell them to just do what they think would suit me! I struggle so much because I think I have very cool skin. It's fair with a pinkish undertone. But my eyes are my favourite asset about myself, being a really golden hazel and black hair brings them out so much. However, it totally makes my skin look like death. Lighter hair makes me look more alive, but makes my eyes look so blah.

Kayleigh Hopkins: Thank you SO MUCH for this video!! I am a makeup artist and have always struggled with what tone i am as i suit both, and have green/ blue veins.... now i know I'm neutral yay! also i discovered you channel 2 days ago whilst looking for ways to brighten my blonde at how so i tried out the hi lift advice you gave and it totally worked! I live in Australia where getting your hair coloured is so expensive, so thank you for saving me a heap of money!! xox

Jen G: I, too, struggled with determining whether I was warm or cool. As a cosmetologist, I thought it odd that I easily did this for my clients but failed to figure this out for myself. Then I came across some information that explained what a true neutral skin tone was and it hit me! I was neither a warm or a cool but a neutral.

Taryn Plond: I’m a neutral! Same as you mention - I couldn’t figure out why I was neither blue nor green. You are so so informative and helpful - like an actual educator vs a little bit of random info that is the majority of YouTube beauty videos. Thank you! I’m binging. And deciding if I can lighten at home. And I never understood hair dye (and etc). You’re better than google

Sue Gable: I've always thought I was warm but catching on to fact I may be neutral worked in hair salon for 10 yrs and learned color theory..but got lost when came to self! Thanks helping me just feel better about myself yet feel empowered to find best self again. Thank you..

Desi Curls: Hey thanks so much for the information! It helps so much! I just have one question, my hair is pretty healthy at the moment (it's not the healthiest in the world, but I have been deep conditioning regularly and keep up with trims) and I wanted to get highlights done before a cruise vacation but a lot of people have been telling me to not get highlights before the cruise or all the color will fade out. I just wanted to know your opinion about this :)

Blaze Martinez: Thank you so much Elle. i'm 16 and when i graduate next year i want to dye my hair for the first time but the colour i always wanted was red but i have a very rosy skin tone so everyone kept telling me i couldn't but thanks to you i understand it better and i can get the colour i want :) thank you you're the best!

chameca wilson: Thank you for describing the difference of warm and cool skin undertones; and how to consider choosing hair colors according to those undertones. Because I believe I can describe myself as having a sable complextion with warm undertones; I wanted to try an auburn hair color. And so I been trying to figure out which shade of auburn would be best, and this helped me with being more comfortable in choosing . Thank you!

Carli Shepherd: This is a really nice video. There's so many videos out there of people telling others that certain colours won't suit them. It's nice to finally see someone telling others that they can rock any colour!! Follow your hair dreams people!!! :)

whiterosesj: I'm so glad you mentioned the mixed veins thing, because I could never tell if I was green or blue. So thank you now I know I'm neutral

Éirinn Ireland: I always thought I was supposed to have ashy hair and learned in my 30s that's not the case. Gold colors in my hair make my blue eyes pop but I have really light skin. This has always confused me. But I guess what's pleasing to the eye looks the best. Thank you for this extremely informative video. You obviously are very knowledgeable in this area and you look amazing.

Miss Bee: I’m SOOOOO glad that I found your channel! Amazing information I’m hella cool tone! I just finished growing out all the colour in my hair, so I’m back to virgin hair and only use a blow dryer in the winter months. As your professional opinion, is virgin hair easier to colour vs colour treated hair?

Kyra Watkin: Awesome explanation of neutral tones! I am neutral but prefer wearing bronzer so I am going to choose warm. The easiest way to be sure as a blind is to try on brunette wigs, one warm and one cool, it will be very obvious which one looks better.

Julia Ruth: I went through most of my life believing that my skin is cool toned because I'm fair, but as I started getting into makeup and hair (not as a pro, just as a hobby) I realized I'm more of a fair neutral!

Lux Ballesteros: You're awesome It took forever to find my skin tone because I'm neutral too. You helped a lot and I'm really glad you're on youtube

almae86: Just watched your video, very helpful and can explain I’m both cool/warm tone. YES! School requirements! Great videos!

Karina Soto: Thanks for always being so informative and educational with your videos it helps a lot. And you're totally down to earth. Every time I go back to Blonde (this is my third time done at Gadabout) I always go back to your videos to keep up with my maintenance

Dee Cohen: Besides the fact that your videos are so informative and helpful, for me....the biggest reason why I watch you is because I feel like my friend is talking to me. I appreciate that so much, your vibe is natural, relaxed, and sincere and I am drawn to that. I am trying to get my own channel up and running as well, and as a person who is more shy than outgoing...I feel you. Anyway, another great video...I'm definitely neutral, but it took me a long time to realize it! haha... xo ps...Whatever tips you might have for naturally curly hair would be amazing! :))

Paige F: I've been told I'm cool, or I'm warm often. Foundation is a pain in the ass to find because my skin would constantly change. I discovered a couple months ago I'm neutral and it's gotten so much better for my hair, outfit choices, and makeup color's. I do tend to pull more warm, but when I'm sick I've noticed I'm really cool and pale. My hair does tend to be really gold or red and it seems to work without being brassy, which is a plus. I try not to fight my color anymore though.

SugarBaby Angel: I laughed when you talked about how long it took you (a colorist) to realize that you are a neutral. It took me forever too. I am a neutral as well, but I lean slightly warmer in the summer and slightly cooler in the winter.

Stacey Mayo: 2 things: I’ve always only ever used semi permanent dye and and am now considering permanents. Thank you so much for all your explanations. So easy to understand. Makes sense why I can’t do ashy colors but I’m pretty good with golden colors and always have been. 2) my hair is naturally wavy. I don’t know if you would know this, but is that Monat hair color safe for waveys? Would you know the answer to this considering you’re expertise is blondes?

junglejeannine: I'm a warm tone. I am an autumn. I learned by getting a color analysis. I was also trained to do color analysis. I absolutely love wearing my colors! It makes me look so much better.

Docspicer76: I'm a very pale girl, cool toned, blue purple veins, silver jewellery. I'm an ash blonde (goldwell 10). I went deep red / burgundy over fifteen years ago and it was stunning but a bitch to remove. But I'm really thinking of going back to it (I have shoulder length hair) the two stunning deep reds with cool tones, is exactly what I want. But is it still hard to remove? And I am thankful for you making these vids, I'm a very happy audience member xx

joyfuljaj: I have never colored my hair, but have used some of the blonde lightening sprays. I had noticed they can look a little brassy and have used some of the purple products to tame the brassiness. I now realize that because I am cool toned that I would need to stay away from golden tones. one of these days I would like to try a brown or red color and am glad to at least have an idea what would work. Of course I would research a lot to find a person who I am sure knows what they are doing!

Siobhan Nash: I’ve just discovered your channel and omg it’s helped me so much already. I had a hair disaster and I’m in the process of having it fixed. I wish there was someone as knowledgeable and honest as you that I could find where I live.

Shauna Angelo: I think (and have been told by a cosmetologist) that my undertones are yellow/gold and I look better in warm tones. Which I think makes sense because I’ve always thought warm makeup looked better on me and cool tones look unflattering/washed out on my face. I still get confused by tones though

SChaffee: I'm warm toned and it took me years to figure it out. I was never sure if I was seeing blue or green veins on my inner arm. I then read somewhere that you can find out by holding a gold lid from a jar next to your face and then compare it to a silver lid (I used aluminum foil) held to your face. The silver washed me out so bad that I looked sick. The gold brightened my face and gave me a beautiful glow. I now try to lean toward warmer tones in my clothing and jewelry. The interesting part is that ash browns look more natural on me than warm browns when it comes to hair dyes.

Kara Eva: What about like, bolder colours? Like pastels and stuff? I've always really, really wanted pastel coloured hair, but I have fairly dark, grey toned skin. It feels like the only colour I'd ever possibly look good with is black.

OneEleven: I am warmed skin tone. I kinda of knew it before this video, but I like that you gave a way to figure out and gave us tips on which shades are best for us. Thanks for your time and dedication!!!

She said:: All my life my mother and many hair dressers told em that I was warm toned. But I never thought that my skin was truly warm. I’m now 27 and just realized recently that I am neutral! It changed everything for me!!!! I wish more stylists could pick out neutral tones!

Mizz HiDef: I love your channel. I’ve been a master barber/stylist for over 30yrs now & yet couldn’t figure out my own skin tone. Turns out I’m a neutral as well. My hairs always been ashy but pulled gold. Recently I found baby pics of myself with completely strawberry blonde hair & tried red for the 1st time & loved it. Going back to blonde for the summer though;) Thank you for such great tips & content. One thing I’ve learned about hair is that we never stop learning. Much love!

Asil Sesom: Hi! I watch and learn so much from you. Thank you. I’m kind of embarrassed to be posting because I am 57 and feel like a granny next to you! But anyway, I am finding it very challenging to find my “look” as I transition into an older woman. I am stuck somewhere in the middle of my forties and being close to 60. A video series on styling for older beautiful women would be great. For example , hairstyles for us over 50 gals, wardrobe does and donts, makeup tips and skin care. I’m sure I’m not the only old broad out there who could use some help. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.

Molly: I always like your videos before even watching because I know they're going to be informative and helpful

Penny Shirey: You actually gave me confidence in snipping my hair then I was like holy cow ‍♀️ Well I did some so had to do the rest and I must say I did a damn good job because my friends are Cosmetologist just are busy schedules that doesn't work out! I've have had a lot of compliments not only the length wasn't what I wanted but hair will grow back ♥️♥️♥️♥️

María Ignacia: Thanks you very much for this amazing video, it really helped me to understand more. It would be awesome if you could make a video like this with more examples for brunettes hair, as I noticed you focused more on blondes.

Astrid L.: I feel the same way you do about my skin tone. Sometimes my veins look blue sometimes green. And my skin has yellow undertones but my face is also pink/red. So I guess I’m neutral too. I have hazel eyes and I’m naturally a lighter brunette. Thanks for this video. I’m so happy to know I can go a cooler blond maybe you could do a video for people with neutral skin tones and what shades of blond they could do. Like a more in-depth one?

Simply Christina: I am so glad I found you"re channel, I found it because I had always used box dye, so my hair would come out so brassy. I thought I could just get a toner to fix that but then I started watching all these beauty video's and realized box dye might not be the way to go, so I went to sally's beauty supply and told her my issues, she help me pick out the right developers and I still got toner just in case. She explained the ratio to use but I was so scared to try new products I waited 3 weeks after buying it to even use it. By the time I decided to face my fears I forgot everything she said, so I read the instructions but it had 2 different ratios that I could of used depending on what I was doing to it, one of the was a ratio for high lifts which I. had no clue what that was. So I went on youtube to type in what are high lifts, you're video explaining 2 other thing's and what high lifts were was on there, that video literally saved me from making a mistake on the ratio that I should use for what I was doing. Then all you"re other videos popped up about how to color, tone and so much more, so I been binge watching you're videos and learning so much about questions I am always trying to figure out. Thank you so much for putting these videos up, I am learning so much that I been wanting to know and that I did not know even down to contouring my face. I have never contoured my face before, ever since I started watching youtube videos 7 months ago I did not know how popular contouring was or how to even do it. I rarely wear anything expect eye liner and mascara. If I use foundation that is literally all I use and sometimes powder. I always wondered why I could not get my concealer to work, like I would put it on and think that is all I had to do but I was always disappointed because the marks I was trying to conceal still showed through. Well apparently I was not doing to right and I did not put anything on expect for the concealer so that is why it was not working, there are other steps involved I learned lol. Youtube has saved me, it has taight me so much that I had no clue about thanks to people like you that make these types of videos. I have watched so many different people on youtube which they knew what they were doing but I would still feel so overwhelmed with all the steps and info, until I found you're videos last night. You explain thing's so clear you put up examples as you are explaining, I do not feel overwhelmed and I understand everything so clearly thanks to the way you explain thing's, just like when I did my hair I watch a few of you're videos while doing my hair to follow along and did exactly what you said. My hair came out great, since I did not use box dye this time my hair was not that brassy at all there are a few strands of yellow here and there but the way it is done it blends in so well. I just colored last night but today I am going to tone it and honestly it blends in so well and there is not really that much yellow I feel like I am wasting the toner, so I am going to start watching more of you're videos right now to see if I can do something to help it without opening the toner. I am sorry this comment is so long like a book lol but I just want you to know how much I appreciate these videos you have posted and I cannot wait to watch the rest and any new one's you post. Again THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! You are a life saver and I know many other people think the same.

Joelle Jansen: I colored my hair for the first time a few weeks ago and my colorist sucked so bad. I wanted to go with highlights because that's easiest for a first try but it went super super yellow (I have a very fair cool skintone) and my colorist was like; "wasn't this what you wanted?". LOOK AT IT!! It looked awful. Luckily she did try to fix it, but I'm totally going to a different salon next time, I do want a colorist who understands what looks good on people. -.-'

Carly Eslinger: Neutral here too I believe. Haven't been loving my hair color lately, especially the top at the roots. Was wondering if I needed to go back and get it toned. This video and another one you did on how to pick hair color really helped. I think it's just not as bleached as I would like in that area. Last time I had highlights she told me she used a very low volume, so my hair wouldn't break so easily (because it is already baby fine hair). It just didn't lift as much as I would have liked

Kenda Hamilton: This is the closest I’ve come to understanding my skin tone -Thank you

Brooke: You're the first person I've seen talk about this who had really great hair for their skin tone - and not just in this video - generally, over time, all sorts of flattering hair color decisions. :)

Stephanie Southworth-Grant: I so appreciate your knowledge .. Thanks for all the tips and tricks ! I am a neutral skin tone ❤️

mayrazulema209: A video about olive/light tan skin tone hair color video would be so needed. Awesome channel.

Jen M.: I’m Asian-American, so I’ve always assumed I’m warm-toned. I’ve never been told I was warm- or cool-toned. Your video was the first time I’ve had anyone have me think about my skin tone in relation to what my hair color should or could be. Thank you!!

ASMRyouVEGANyet?: This is so true! I'm very fair skin but neutral tone most of the time (sometimes I get Rosey cheeks) and I have white blonde. I just have to make sure to match my makeup with my hair color tone. It all completes each other.

Jeny Dennise: You are so awesome!! I love it when you add something like "and I'm not trying to be" or "this is not to say..." Because I feel like you really care about you are saying and communicating to your audience!!

Shiela Avila: Just found your channel and love your videos. I have olive/warm skin tone, with a more square shape (I believe lol) and have been having a hard time finding a look I like or would fit me. I want a look and color that's softer on my skin and makes me look younger. I currently have warm ombre that has grown out for the past 7 months. I went to a consultation yesterday and told the colorist/stylist I wanted to break my base and do a rooty baby highlights with a toner to blend the color. I'm looking for a more natural, but not dark hair look. Maybe even more of a balayage look (which I may have to bring in some low lights) Any thoughts?

Danna Kinsella: Thank you! I have warm skin and have always done gold highlights (no toner), but I love the more platinum blonde look. I also have fine and thinner hair (after chemo). Any tips??

Svetlana: Really great tips thank you so much for this super awesome video, I’m not 100% positive but I think I’m more of neutral

She said:: It took forever for me to realize I was cool toned. I feel like neutrals are not common and not really represented well in the beauty community. Hair, foundation shades, articles talking about color theory in makeup and hair that I find rarely discuss neutral skin tones. If they do, it’s just barely mentioned and like an afterthought. Keep it up! Your videos are so informative and nonjudgmental to those without a cosmo license! You should do a video on each skin tone! What to wear/ shades to style if your cool/warm/neutral... etc. ❤️

Yanely Gutierrez: this video was helpful, ive always been wondering about my skin tone, as well knowing I was neutral but not 100% sure. i wish you would have added black hair color or brunette. I'm very light skinned, pretty much pale with naturally dark black hair and people are always telling me it's too dark for me, and I do see it at times but it's my natural hair color and I love it. it does make me wonder if I should dye it lighter or just add low or highlights so it looks better.

Dana Giordano Mathur: As a very pink faced cool tone woman I really appreciated the lesson and now everything makes sense! When i was a kid i was always super tan and my hair was brown copper. As i got older and I spent no time in the sun I discovered I actually have black hair and I could never figure out why the sun lightened hair color looked off. It was the lack of tan! Now I know and I can explore ash which i have previously avoided like the plague lol. Thanks!

Marsha Reda: You are awesome! I’m learning so much!!! I’m a natural red head with freckles. I think my skin tone is neutral because like you, I can’t ever figure it out. I look best in deep, bright color. Purple, royal blue and greeN. I’m desperate to turn my hair back to my color of youth but am terrified of turning orange. Now my hair is dirty blonde with minimal red. Help please!!!!!!!’

LGreen0605: Thanks for this video! I’m black and I have a warm skin tone. This video is so informative. I’d like to see some makeup videos for warm tones. I love your glow. Also, maybe a video teaching about what color clothes go with makeup?

Mary Fisher: Thank you so much for your videos. They have been such a help to me. At the tender age of 64 I want to look the best I can. You have a great presence of kindness and the ability of being everyone's best friend...wanting the best for us to look Great! There are million of heavy topics but I think enough people with certain personalities have it covered. We all just want to look fabulous ! Thank you dear one. Many blessings.

jaeliana710: thanks for the info! it really helped me figure out my tone, finally. I was hoping you could film a video about face shapes and what cuts or style may suit best, does it really matter? I'd really appreciate it Also, would love it if you could do a natural make up look tutorial for those who don't have any time. go over what make up product is a must before going out the door so you dont look like you haven't slept in days lol I'm a first time mama and need help lol Thank you for your help and all your awesome videos!

Keeran Kingdom Plantae: I love how you are :) It's really not what you see in every YouTube channel. Not to be that cliché "different", but you are, in a really nice way. Thank you so much for making videos! ❤️

Patrice Wall-Baxter: I'm cool tone I've just found out thanks to your inner wrist technique. Thanks Is it possible to put up a list of lots of colours that are suitable for each tone? I also watched your long layers haircut tutorial & it turned out fantastic ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ you have amazing knowledge and explain it in such a way that is easy to understand. Thank you

m a f a l d a: I always thought I was cool toned because I am very pale and I burn really easily, but as it turns out, my veins are predominantly green and purple and I look better in maroon and navy blue, khaki and more warm deep colours. After researching thoroughly I found out I am autumn!

Stella Jones: This was super helpful, thank you!!! Now I know why ashy blonde looks so amazing on me, my skin tone is very cool.

Victoria Oldham: I thought for the longest time i had a warm skin tone because i have a super pink undertone and burn really easily but did some research and realized i am more of a cool tone. this is a great video and i learned a lot so thank you!

LadyFireHorse: Thank you for all your informative videos. I have a warm (yellow) skin tone. My base color is dark brown/black and i'm starting to have grays which i would l like to eventually transition into. I don't want to cover my grays, instead, i have my hairdresser add lighter pieces (balayage) and when it gets too light, i have lowlights added. I've always requested for ashy tones to counter the natural reds of my dark hair when lightened. Do you have any suggestions color-wise for someone transitioning into gray? I'm afraid to go blonder because my dark roots will appear too dark. Thanks :)

Moni Lo: I needed this. I had no idea that cool and warm colors in your hair and makeup can change the natural beauty of your skin. Thank you. I dress for my body shape and now I'll color for my warm tone.

Blu Jaime: I figured out what skin tone I was when I was in cosmetology school. I learned from another girl there. I was telling her how my hair always looks brassy and she said it was because of how I have pink undertones? So from there I kept researching and this video was the most helpful. Years later I finally know how to tone my hair with how cool toned my skin is

Stasha Gindra: Wow thank you, finally it’s all clear now ☺️ I never knew how important this is. I now can choose better to compliment my face,

Day: I too could not figure out if I was cool or warm from my veins or using apps that were supposed to I’d my color. I finally went to Ulta and asked what my skin tone was. They immediately told me I was definitely neutral. It has saved me a lot of time and money purchasing cosmetics.

Megan Malicki: I am neutral but slightly warm. this video was extremely helpful thank you!!!

Priscilla Nieto: I agree to a certain degree. I feel like even if someone has super cool toned skin if they absolutely love the way they look with warm hair than let them rock that warm hair! Hair color should have no rules as far as shade goes.

Sumayya Beekun: Suggestion: have your viewers submit pictures of themselves and offer advice on a new haircut and color? I call dibs!!!

RedLeaf 13: Thanks Sylvia! You are amazing! I really want to try and go lighter with my hair now. I think the way you talk on camera is actually kind of soothing, you have a soft tone of voice and a calm and easy way of speaking. Can't see the haters! Blinded by all the gold and ashy blondes XD

Katharine Estes: Hi! Great video, I wish I would have came across it when I bleached my hair too cool two years ago. Listening to you bit about neutral skin, I think I am that. I have a mix of green and blue vines. I was born with fair skin that had a very cool pink tone to it but with a hint of yellow. However, my natural hair color is a light warm caramel copper brown. I have light blue grey eyes too so I always thought cool. Heres my confusion though. When I wear red or brown hair, it must be a warm shade but when it comes to blonde, warm blonde shades wash me out. So strange. I would love to hear your thoughts on why this is.

Blooming Goddess: Thank u oh, you really have helped us I had the same issue being a hairstylist and not being able to figure out my own stuff because I'm cool and warm sometimes being Olive complected cuz I'm quarter Puerto Rican and Caucasian so it's in between you're so right about that girl and thank you you look amazing and do a very good job.

Goodies with Grace: What an informative video! You’re awesome! Thanks so much. I’m a warm skin tone with medium brown hair. I just got extremely light highlights, and now I understand I shouldn’t desire he ashy look.

CuttingChai: The last part of the video made me want to comment.. You are doing an amazing job! It really does feel like I am listening to a friend talk.. And this video was so informative. I always thought red hair would never suit my Indian skin tone...Although I've seen Rihanna rock that look. Always questioned if I could pull it off..now I know! Thank you! :D

Karen S: Thanku. I learned a lot from you.. I think I'm neutral lol I have had my hair many colors and have been told I've looked good in all if them. I'm grateful for that. About 5 yrs ago the sun turned my hair blonde. (I was natural dark brown growing up. Then it was brown with lots of silver, white & gray) i dont understand how that happened? wierd lol now it's all of that minus the brown. ppl are dying thier hair the color mine is now. so funny. I still cant fig out the shape of my face. I think its oval? I know it's easy. I cant seem to get it. Oh well! I hope this made sense. Do u have a video on haircuts best for your face shape? Thank you for all your information. I appreciate it!
