Starting a hair business in 2022, here's what i would do what's up boss, babes and welcome to the big bank of hair. So in today's video this is episode. One of if i were this is episode. One of if i were starting a business series and we're going to be talking about the hair business now before i get started, i just want to note that this is specifically talking about selling hair and not wigs. Now, if you guys, are interested in me doing an episode covering the wig business, just let me know comment down below and i'll see what i can do about that. But this is specifically for hair, bundles, um closures, frontals all that good stuff and you may sell pre-made, wigs or whatever, but take what you can leave the rest all right. So i just want to note that, because i don't want to get you guys confused if i were to start a wig business, i would move and operate a little bit differently than i would in this particular business okay. So i just want to note that all right, so let's get into the video, make sure you give this video a thumbs up because y'all know i'm coming with the gems. So, first things first we're going to be covering the four layers of big bang, which you guys should know this. By now, i'm going to keep drilling it into your head, we're going to be covering branding targeting marketing and advertising. Okay. Those are four different things. If you don't know what they are, i'm gon na need you to go holla at the pilot, so you can get your things in order and make sure you're walking into this with all the necessary information, all right y'all. So it is no secret that yes, the hair business is very, very oversaturated like never before, but there is very much still money. There is big bank in this business if you move strategically and you have a plan so first things. First, if me jason, with all of the knowledge that i have pertaining to business, e-commerce, marketing and branding, if i was to start a hair business in 2022, the first thing i would ask myself is: how can i stand out? What is my purple cow if you're a real one? You know what that reference is from if you're a real one. Let me know you know what the purple color is. Okay, that's my first thing: whenever you're going into a market where there is a lot of competition, you have got to figure out what is gon na. What'S gon na make me different and it can't just be your packaging, my hair, don't shed girl, that's not working! It'S 2022. Nobody cares all hair sheds people are content with their hair, shedding out all right. So that would be my first question. That would be the first thing i have to figure out right. So to answer that question i would want to be known for a particular thing. I want to be that go-to. So what does that look like right? This is honestly y'all. This is exactly what i would do if i was to start a hair business in 2022. First thing i would do i decided that i would want to sell specific texture. I don't need to tell everything i need to cater to everybody. I don't need to sell straight hair body, wave curly hair loose wave, spirula wave. You know they got italian curly now, like i don't need to sell all that i don't need to. I don't want to get mixed up. I don't want to spend all the money. I don't want to have all the overhead. I want to be known for one texture, all right: i'm gon na tell y'all what the texture i chose in a little bit, but you can see this perfectly done by a brand named curl candy. I came across this brand, i believe on tick tock. No! No! No, no, it was twitter. I came across this brand a few months ago on twitter called the curl candy, and the owner of this brand has executed this perfectly y'all i'ma show you what that brand looks like what she did was she decided exactly what i'm saying she wanted to be known For a specific texture, so she decided to do curly hair, so she offers bundles. She offers clip-ins and it all has different textures of curly hair. You know there isn't just one type of curly hair right, there's multiple types of curly hair. She doesn't offer straight hair at all and i believe she has some wavy hair, i'm not sure, but she stays in that lane. She has made a lane for herself and is known for curly hair. So if you're on the market and i'm like man, i really want some curly hair, or i really want to find some curly hair that matches my natural hair pattern. I don't want to sift through all these different brands that offer all of these different things and try to hope that the curly hair matches me. No i'm going to go to a brand that offers a multitude of different curly textures and i'm going to find exactly what i'm looking for makes sense yeah. So one thing i see happening a lot in hair business is it i think it happens? A lot with younger people like younger meaning, 21 through 23, maybe like 18, you know the girls that's coming up wanting to start a hair business because they think it's easy and it's a lot of money. One thing i keep saying is these pink colors, these purple colors um, it's really it's giving very girly nostalgic, um, very colorful branding. Well, i won't even say branding just those are their colors. Those are their business colors. I would go a completely different route. I would go, i would do the complete opposite. Actually, i would go for a more sleek, more chic, more sophisticated, modern. Yet sexy look something that boasts minimalism. The reason why is because the texture that i would choose to sell would be straight hair. I would want my brand to be known for the silkiest straight hair on the market. Why do you think i chose straight comment? Why you think i chose straight i'ma. Tell you i'm gon na tell you why, but let me know what y'all thinking right. So the reason why is because, for one straight hair, is the cheapest entry point when it comes to purchasing inventory? If you look at a price chart that the vendors will send, you short hair is the cheapest. The reason being is because it doesn't have to be manipulated to get the texture. So if you have curly hair or wavy hair, they have to manipulate their hair to get it to look that way when it comes to stray hair and they may honestly chemically process it as well to get it silky straight, but it's not as much work. Therefore, it's not as expensive, you want to save as much as you can and do things strategically. Okay, so i would go to straight route because again, it's the cheapest entry point and on top of that, it's versatile for most not all hair types, but most hair types for people who prefer to have their natural hair out. So if you know you have thinner hair, thicker hair, but once you straighten it, it gets straight you're going to blend. In with my straight bundles again, i said majority not all if you have coarser hair or curlier hair, it may not blend in for you but baby. That'S what closures and frontals and wigs are for, and then on top of all of that who doesn't love a jet black bust down middle part like girl, we all love a good sleek middle part. Are you kidding me so that is the route that i will take. I will again focus on a more sophisticated look for my brand and be known to have the best straight hair on the market when i think of a brand that has the best straight hair on the market. Nothing comes to mind because nobody has branded themselves to particularly be known for that, and only that purple cow y'all. Another thing that's important to note is: who am i targeting? I didn't want to dig too deep in terms of, although she's 25 through 34. She does this. She does that no i'm gon na skip. All of that i mean i, if i was building this business honestly, i wouldn't skip it at all, but we're gon na skip it for the video purposes, because, even though it matters what matters most is knowing why they chose your brand okay, you can work out Those details later, you still need to work out the details, but you can work them out later, but i would build my pain points, aka, the struggle that people are having and the solution that i have for their problem. I would build those pain points around a few different things. The first thing the dilemma of your hair not being able to get bone straight without using excessive heat okay. So this is a question that, just by me doing some simple research for this video. I have found for people who are looking to purchase straight hair. Do i have to have my flat iron on 450 degrees right? Nobody wants to do that because it damages the hair in the long run. So i would zero in on this pain point and make sure my customer knows that hey with our hair, you do not have to do all that. You do not have to use high heat. You do not have to go over it a million times and honestly, and you all know the only reason. The only way to even do that is to have high quality hair, but that's another story for a different day. After doing our research. After doing our due diligence and finding a vendor that has high quality hair, now we're working on building out the brand, all right so don't be like oh well, i got ta find a vendor first. Well, so you got ta do that. This is not what we're here to do. Okay, we ain't here to talk about that. We'Re focusing on the four layers y'all, the four layers of big bank. Okay, the next pain point that i would make sure that my customer knows that we have a solution for is the struggle and y'all. This is a true struggle. Listen a true struggle of finding hair that has little to no i'm, not even gon na, say no, because it's honestly impossible. It'S just hair but has little frizzing fly. Aways. Nothing gets on my nerves more than when my hair is frizzing in humidity or when these flyaways start to do this. Like batman thing girl, i can't stand it and it makes me want to carry my brush around with me every five seconds. Nobody wants to do that right so because i know that nobody wants to deal with that. I'M going to make sure my customer know. You won't have to deal with that when you shop with us, but your pain points are important to know, because this is going to be the backbone of your copy. This is going to be the backbone of your marketing. This is going to be the backbone of your content, y'all picking up what i'm putting down. Oh, i said that on video, yet long overdue, y'all long overdue, so the last but certainly not least, pain. Point i wanted to mention something that is extremely hard to find, but having the fullness in your hair from root to tip okay from root to tip meaning your hair is thick and it's full the whole way down. You ain't got to worry about it, thinning out at the end, girl no thin ends right. So if i was to make sure my customer knows you ain't got ta worry about no thinness, you ain't got ta worry about no frizzing and you ain't got ta worry about using all this heat and damaging your expensive bundles, where you think they shopping with me And then not to mention you know it's going to be limited, shedding! No tangling, that's that's automatic. You shouldn't even have to say those things right, but you can keep reiterating so they know these are the three pain points i would focus on. If i was starting this business in 2022 now, let's move on to content y'all so for content, because i know that i'm a more sophisticated brand, i'm catering to more a high caliber woman, who has a little bit more coins to spend i'm going to make sure That the quality of my hair reflects that price. I am going to focus my content around being educational being entertaining and also being debatable. So what does that mean? So, for starters, i want to educate my audience on the benefits of our hair, the product that you should use. You know how do we? Why are we the best, so i'm going to post content that reflects that right. So that can be a numerous amount of things. It can be sit down, videos, it can be styling videos, it can be talk through videos, it can be blog posts, it's limitless. When it comes to educating your audience. I would educate my audience on the process. I would educate my audience on the products i would educate my audience on how to actually care for their bundles when they get them and why you should do this and why you shouldn't do this, because i think a lot of the times we have. This information overload when it comes to hair, and you have a stylist saying this and the stylist saying this now stylist saying this is installing saying that, but nobody's telling you why. So you don't know what to believe, especially when two people are saying the opposite things. If you educate your audience a little bit more, they will have an aha moment like, ah that makes sense right, so, educational being one entertaining being another because you got to make people laugh and the more relatable something is the more people will share it. Therefore, the more brand awareness will be done for your business, so a simple entertaining pose can be something like, let's just take a meme, for example, when you're in the middle of the summer, and you ain't got to worry about your hair freezing up and you look Over to the next girl and her hair, look like a poof ball or whatever, but something to make people be like um yeah couldn't be me boo, not with these bundles. I got the best bundles right make them share because they're relatable, like oh, my god. This happens to me all the time or you want to evoke an emotion. You want to evoke a connection right. That'S very important, y'all very, very important, so the last content pillar i will focus on - is debatable content and the reason why you want to try lightly with debatable content, though ain't going to lie, you got to be strategic with it, can't overdo it can't do it Too much because then you're going to be known as that girl to just like to argue so debatable content is very, very useful because everybody has an opinion y'all and everybody loves to share it. So use that to your advantage, i will use that to my advantage. Something as simple as this i know it just create an uproar is when you get a sew in you need at least five bundles or it ain't worth it. I know you don't need five bundles. I know you can get away with three and you can maybe get away with two of your head, a small, but i know for a fact people are going to. Let me know that i don't need five bundles, you don't need no five bundles. You only know five bundles and some people gon na, be like oh, yes, girl. I need all five bundle. Six bundles for my fullness, so you're gon na have a debate going on in these comments and you're gon na have so much engagement and then you're gon na have people come to your website to see your products y'all, don't shoot the messenger now moving on to Marketing now marketing for your hair business is the backbone of your business. If you aren't marketing it doesn't matter how good your product is, it doesn't matter how great your website looks. You know you have the best branding in the business. None of that matters - if nobody can find you, if nobody knows you exist, maybe none of it matters. Okay, so my marketing efforts for a hair business in 2022 will be focusing on tick, tock, twitter and youtube yeah. I got those three tic toc twitter youtube. On top of that, i will create a newsletter for my shopify store where people can sign up and get weekly or bi-weekly tips straight to their inbox. We will focus on maintenance, we will focus on products and styling right. So not only am i providing you with the absolute best products in the market, i'm going to also follow up with you for after care. Let'S talk customer service; okay, let's talk it right, so these are things that i would do y'all if i was starting a hair business in 2022. On top of that, once i am marketing my business on these three platforms and i'm, of course, i'm posting fire content. I'M utilizing influencer marketing, i'm taking advantage of collaborations with other people in my industry and i'm getting all of this traffic to my shopify store. If my shopify store is not intact, if my shopify store is not looking like money, none of this matters. All of my efforts, they don't matter my product being the best in the business. Don'T matter my freaking content being fired, don't matter, because when people get to my website it doesn't look. They can trust me lucky for y'all. I do have a shopify webinar. That'S seven hours long as a beginner, i literally cover everything how to build it, how to import your products, the best apps and even some hacks i threw in there to make sure y'all are on your way to getting this money, because traffic is only one piece Of the puzzle y'all, once you even get the traffic - and let's say your website looks great: most people aren't going to purchase the first time they come to your website because they still are warming up to you. They haven't built up that trust yet, but you have to make sure that you're also retargeting these people, which is why the newsletter is important, got ta capture the emails, but on top of that, having your re targeting pixels in place. Okay, so that's when your facebook ads will also come into place and other ads, you can use like google, ass, tick, tock, ads and so forth, y'all. So if you need help with any of those things, make sure you check out the description, i'm also taking consultations for the month of march, just for the series only the month of march y'all is very limited spot. So don't wait. Hopefully you enjoyed this video and if you are interested in starting a hair business in 2022, hopefully this helped you out all right, so i'll, see y'all in the next episode.
