Wig Care Tutorial - Steam Setting A Synthetic Wig - Drag

In this video I show you a simple and quick tip: This is how I steam set a synthetic wig using a kettle and a plastic bag! It really couldn't be easier! All you need is a kettle and a plastic bag, in addition to a wig, a polystyrene wig head and velcro rollers. Enjoy!

These velcro rollers were a a pound or so for 8 from Primark here in the UK, but most beauty supply stores will have similar.

I used tiny dressmaking pins to secure the rollers in this video, I have since bought a load of t-pins and long pearl head pins which make it so much easier to do. I also used a polystyrene head, I now have a canvas wig block but this is a personal choice.

If you want to know how I detangled and roller set the wig, you can see this video here:

Quick disclaimer: I am not a hair stylist or wig stylist, this is just how I do it. I'm not claiming to be a professional here! ;)

Hi guys today, I'm back with a very short video on how i steam set my wigs, I'm going to use a synthetic wig that you can see I've set in velcro rollers. Now I'm not a hairdresser. So please don't judge me. This is the best I can do and it seems to work for me when I want to add a curl pattern and some volume to my synthetic wigs I'll talk more about how I roller sets wigs in a different video. Today, we're going to talk about how I steamed them. I have this handy little device to set my wig head, on which I will remove and then I'll be using this kettle to produce the steam. Now it has a handy flattop, which is great for setting the wig head on, and I filled it to the max with water just to create quite a nice amount of steam, and I will probably steam it two or three times I'll, be using a carrier bag To place on top of the wig head to keep some of the steam in for as long as possible to set the curl pattern nicely and evenly I've sped this up a little bit. So the kettle is flashing away there and steam is being produced and don't use. This is a quite thick plastic bag, don't use a thin one that could melt with the steam or the heat, and then you need to set it aside to cool down for a little bit. I leave the bag on top of it, so that the steam stays in there for as long as possible, but it will cool down quite nicely and next I'm going to show you taking out the rollers and see what kind of nice but curl pattern. We'Ve got now this wig is very strange. I think I might make a separate video on it. I bought it on eBay and it has the weirdest kind of lace front situation going on, so I'm gon na do a separate video and the synthetic fiber seems to kind of take curl in a different way to a lot of the other weeks. But it gave a nice lift at the root and a nice girl pattern to it. At the end of this clip, I'm going to insert a couple of pictures of the week before I call that and after I curled it as well, so you can see the difference. You can back home it you can brush through it. The curls will stay quite nicely with the steam set, so this is a very good way of changing. The texture. Steam can also be used to remove curls. I had a handheld steamer which broke down so I'm going to go and get a new one, but that's very handy to use with a soft bristled roller. Try that again, a soft bristled roller brush to remove curls or straighten the hair, which is I have another video off. So I can show you that you can also use a hairdryer for it, but the steamer is really handy to have so here we are lost. Curls coming out and we'll move on to the pictures, thanks for watching and don't forget to rate comment subscribe, if you have any questions, feel free to post them. In the comment section below thanks for watching and I'll see you in the next video bye,

katlady5000: I'm a hairstylist since 1987 and that is a very nice set. Clean partings and the right amount of hair on each roller. Nice Job.

xwednesdaymurderx: Wow it looks so good after! You said you do it 2 or 3 times, so does that mean you fill the steamer up full each time and let dry completely in between steaming?
