Welcome back to my channel and welcome back to one snatch. This is part two of my three-part series on hair for dermatology and drag, and for this i'm going to bring on a very special friend of mine, solomon, black, to start a wig on camera. I might as well just get into full face for that. Okay and now i want to invite my friends, shalom black, say, hi hi, guys and we're gon na do something really different, we're gon na start a couple of weeks on camera. While we interview all right salomon, yes, let's do this all right: let's go okay, all right! We'Re back and we've got two wigs um and rollers and we're gon na style them together. While we chit chat today, all right, salome ready, yes, we're gon na do that. Now i both have the same wig. I think we're both the same color same, but it's not just like yeah, i'm very nervous. This is the first time i'm styling a week on camera, and i think my success in wigs, i think, has been one in five. So there's a chance that this might be completely um complete disaster. I think i think it's fine you're saying it's getting better. Now: yeah yeah yeah i've been practicing a lot. So so tell me: how did you start doing drag? How do i start um? Well, i started when i was in lasalle, so i was finishing up my degree. Oh, what what degree did you do in the song social media industries that was years ago, maybe seven years so, like my major, would be in fashion photography. So i put myself as the subject and i took inspiration from saloma miami's, wife who's, a very famous like manly actress, and she has this very big hair cinch waist classic girl. So i took inspiration from there. That'S how it started wow - and i noticed now that you have a very, very active house, the house of black yeah, we're kind of inactive now, but we're planning a lot and we've uh scheduling a lot of things. Yeah, i'm excited to share what we're what we're gon na do. Oh yeah uh anything you can share at the moment or is it all under wraps at the moment? Most of the dragons are doing music videos now, but house of life is not really a drag house. It'S more professional fashion house wow. Yes, so we're not good yeah, because uh house of, like we are known for selling sex fashion and taste, we're not gon na. Do music videos we're gon na do more of a fashion film, so we're still in the process of like an art book or something like that: uh ish, asia, more like midnight doing a fashion film, for i don't know, there's you so so, who are the members Of the house of black, you want to give them a shout out. The first three would be me. Obviously, so i'm the mother of the house of black and then i have then we have the daddy of the house's life, which is speechlight also also uh handling. All the girls and we have kang who is maura black and mara, means rose, so it's black rose and then we have lily black and we have eliza black, so elijah black is the runway girl and the fashion girl of the house. Did you actually stay together in an apartment? No, we don't. I stay with other people like my uh. Housemate is maya and palin, but where the house is really lgbt friendly, so we have people over most of the time and we just hang out and chill, and you said you did fashion stuff. Do you actually design fashion things yourself? So i i my first day lasalle, i had the idea of becoming a fashion designer, but then again when i calculate everything the course is so expensive and then i move on to social media and majored in pressure, photography and advertising. So what exactly is fashion media is? Are you doing that now? I know you're mainly that you do love theater, stuff, right yeah. I do a lot of theater, but fashion media is basically like communications, the visual calm about fashion. So we do a lot of like magazine, stuff, uh, photography, styling uh yeah. All that sort of thing, you're gon na ask what what you're gon na style, i'm gon na try to do a page boy which is the minimum? Okay, that's nice! How about how about you, i'm just gon na! Do the glossy plastic myself, the big hair, a marcel wave yeah, the usual big? Oh yes, i forgot to i forgot to announce stay tuned for the instructions, but we're going to be giving away um the amazing wig. That'S started by salon: black okay, so um you got to watch all the way to the end. I don't think anyone would want to bring the eye style. Why not it's a wig yeah see how she has yeah another thing about your dragon. I want to say your makeup is amazing: where do you look in makeup very, very, very um avant-garde and very adventurous? I love it. My first makeup tutorial that i watched when i was doing my school project was jujube's youtube video on how to play, drag makeup. Jujube wow yeah. That was my first and i thought i looked so good then, and then, when i looked at it again, i'm just like. Oh my god, it's so loose. I look so bad. Oh my god! Look at that thing like i look so good, but i guess that's part of like doing a dress. This part of drag. I mean the first time you put on makeup the minute. You transform your face, you actually you actually feel like beautiful already. That'S all it takes right and then and then, of course, as you as you improve, and you look back you you can tell when things are not quite right, so yeah now i'm starting like that stuff, like this yeah and and i've actually followed one of your Makeup tutorials before, oh, my god. Yes, oh my god that was when i had like very thick eyebrows, and i think i should start going back to thick eyebrows because i'm a big face, and so now uh a lot of the work you're doing is in the theater right, uh yeah. It'S a lot of fashion show now. Actually david is taking a break. Oh fashion show, because fashion shows, but fashion shows, are so good man now in the during covet yeah, i just did lv leave it on. You do mainly the makeup or the hair or everything i don't know how to touch your body. You get people asking you to do their makeup yeah, but i at the moment i've only put a few people in into drag and they all look terrible. So far, oh my god, i haven't figured it out, yeah, i'm so bad at it. Okay, if you give me three hours, then maybe yes, if you're like gon na give me one hour or two hours, i don't think i care yeah, it's very. It'S very very stressful, putting people in direct wow. I think for my for this um page boy thing. Is this a lot of very, very detailed combing? So i i don't have to worry about teasing, but every time i find when i tease a wig, it just gets really messy and very um unmanageable. But how do you tease your weight? Do you start at the base huh? Do you think it's like from the top to down? No, i cheese, i tease, i tease from the middle and i i try to taste in the middle. What what do you do? I always do this from the bottom and i woke my heart and then push it down. Yeah yeah of stronger and more compact. The ends are more manageable right yeah for your fish boy. Do you think of what to do first and then roll kind of for certain things yeah, i kind of like planned the role, so i wrote i wrote some of these more of these in front towards the face to try to get the thing here, but i, But i only know very few sets. I don't know whether the the curl took as much as i hoped. Okay. The another thing i wanted to ask you about was your weak business. Why did you decide to start a big business? You started from eric. You know every boy, the eric boy, oh yeah, yeah yeah, that is hilarious. I wanted to do drag me. Uh, probably he goes. Oh wait. So far he's my guy name guys. So people know we are still in the dragon industry in the drag scene. So anyway, he was saying party. Can you start wait for me? You start with right, i'm like yeah, i'm sure what not that happened. He pushed me to start a business because i was just taking stock um about how many salon black wigs i have. I have a couple of eight styled ones - oh my god, and how i think about about six more unstyled ones, that that are the the shake and go ones that are quite fun to wear. I mean i, i am totally obsessed with hair and wigs, and you know this is actually a second part in my hair series for my dermatology drag, so i've already done one hair video. This is the second one, who's the what's the first one who did the first one, the only the first one is it wasn't a collab, but the first one was my um. This is about hair diseases and hair, dermatology and stuff like that, which i just um published yesterday. Oh my minnie mouse look! Oh yes! Okay! I saw that one yeah. Where are we? Okay? We always watch. We always watch it in the house. Together, i mean i always watch it with my house together, every one you find your videos very, like uh, there's a lot of info that i don't know about which is oh good. Thank you. Yes, i i try to make it more educational, because i don't think i'm good enough to teach makeup number two. I can't i can't review makeup because i probably can't get it in time, so i need to do some do what i know and um. Hopefully that will give people, people a excuse to watch and it's so good. Oh my god. It'S so good! Thank you. Thank you! So much so you know my one of my problems when styling wigs is that i never dare to cut my wigs. I don't know how to cut yeah, i'm so scared to cut wigs and that's why i don't think i can get the styles that i want. I love nothing with it, but i can't i get where you're coming from like a lot of people when they watch my style and when you just leap off it's just like yeah yeah, because cutting is so irreversible. And if you don't know what you're doing you know it's quite it can be a bit scary, yeah, but one thing good is that i mean we're cutting weights. So it's fine. It'S not like real human hair yeah i mean if you took that human hair. No but at least human hair grows back human hair, human hair weeds. I mean oh human hair, wigs yeah. If this doesn't end up being a page boy, this is going to be a very nice something. How big do you want your pitchfork to be? This? Is this is actually quite long, but i want i want i'm going to try to see what i can neaten all this up into nice waves and then um scooped up all the way to the front to the face here. Like that, that's what that's a that's! A plan are you teasing the base? No, i'm not i'm not going to tease the wig mastiza. I don't know. Should i what what comb? What brush are you using? I am using two brushes. One is a dressing up brush like this and then and then i'm going to be using a comb to try to bring all these in yeah. That'S that that's the plan. You feel that the quality of the weight makes a really big difference when you style uh, not really not really right, because when i think about it, plastic is plastic right. So if you, if you have a cheap wig, that's made of plastic and you can set it and roll it, you can still quite get a quite good style uh. It depends if you're using a steamer if you're using a steamer, it doesn't make any difference. But if using hot tools like curling tongs, because if it's too hard, it would just curl up like a pinky hair. So it just goes it's like. So that will affect like the look of the loop of the whip one day, and then it really depends depends on how how um what kind of weeks i do a lot of times with teasing once maybe about two to three hours, three hours. How about you? How long does it take for you to start awake like for muscle? I can do it in an hour for like those symmetrical architectural things. I cannot. It would take me a whole day or even two. Three days. Okay, i'm just gon na i'm gon na sit down now and be very brave and try to and start cutting my weight look like pirates and she got shot so nowadays how? How has your wig business been doing with the pandemic? Wow uh, it was good replacement, was good and then the next place we just gave quality, but then i changed my target market to like lesser of the performer and more towards the girl. At the beginning, i was mainly like performance like myself: is it yeah? It was more like nightlife performance. That'S why there were a lot of lace fronts. Then i carried a lot of it in front of them, and now it's just very little later on, or maybe none at all, they're all the candy rigs who's. Your favorite uh wig studies from instagram. I think wigs by golgi is very nice. Oh my god! Yes, wig's back very, very, very precise. I don't know how he gets all so nice, every every little bit, um, wigs and cool. Is it wigs and cold? It'S also very nice. I also like integration, but this is what he's really next level so huge his wigs. So huge and so neat there's no fly away. Yeah, i'm just like wow crazy. How about you, who are your favorite wig stylists on the ground? Oh mecca, mecca, kristoff, yeah, yeah very lucky had all those french queens all wearing this, it's so nice, cam, hugh and arsenic, they're, all right they're, a couple. You know: yeah yeah they're a couple so irritating someone dragged up. Well, i mean we used to have a dread compared to singapore, but then uh will you ever date a drag queen yeah? Why not? But we are not sharing wardrobes and that's all what kind of tools are the best for styling hair. I'M not sure whether i got this right. What kind of tools? What do you mean tools? Yeah? What were your favorite like brushes, yeah brushes? Oh actually, my favorite. I like this one. Do i need to do this instagram yeah? Oh the comb. Is it the comb with the speaker at the end? This is great for when you're making your hair bigger like when you need to think on the inside, and then this is the other one that i use a lot. This is to neaten, which one more bristles, so it's falling. What'S the word to making the wig look clean to neaten up to clean up the weight? Yes, oh my god, usually at the roots. Look at me cutting my wig, see that's where i'm going. This is what i'm trying to go for it looks so good. Oh my god, huh who, who else in your great family, is there. We have uh lily black and we have lines of light and we have black gem. So these three are the daughters and then the daddies are pitch black and hard like. So all of us have different kind of aesthetics, but within the same uh i guess who is your favorite drag queen? My favorite drag queen the drag queen, who i'll probably drop everything to watch that video or anything, would be probably tricksy mattel. Why why i, i don't know i just find is this everything she does is like kind of stuff. I like, like this, her music. Her makeup her her approach to makeup her um, her comedy yeah, her taste in comedy, has taken everything seems to be seems to resonate with me a lot she's so different. I mean in a good way, yeah and like you cannot find anybody else like to see. Yeah, you could it's very she's, really quite unique yeah how about you who's your favorite drag queen. What do you think about all these things about people saying that she she's she's black fishing whenever she's in drag? What does it mean? People always claim that she paints darker than uh normal and and to pretend to look black, oh really, yeah! That'S what a lot of people say. It'S very thin like watched her videos, since she even before she got into drag race and she's, always very careful like it's a fake fan but she's still fan, but i think people online will find anything to you know just get mad about so annoying. I find these kind of styles are what i can easily do with without very much um mistake stress, there's one uh big styling that i like from instagram called. I think it's natalie or something natalie morton's, wigs, wigs right, yeah, yeah, yeah, very, very nice! You do a lot of stitch boys, yeah yeah, oh all, the very, very nice waves and i don't know how they do it. Okay, it's so beautiful! Oh no! I forgot this one and there's one more color brown. How around? Yes, i'm actually taking um some online courses from kyle brown. That'S where i learned how to do all this, oh yeah, so shout out to kyle brown. Are you you're thinking as well? Almost i i'm still deciding because i'm like thinking about shooting integration or fell down. Actually, actually, i had all these questions about um, wig, styling and everything, and you already said that you know you don't think the quality of the hair is that much important when it comes to comes to styling. Is it yeah? Most of your are most of your styles from china, yes, but the fibers are made in korea. I feel when i'm using your wigs. They really feel very different from the kind of stuff i bought on amazon and aliexpress yeah, because we get to choose our fibers and then we get to use our did you teach yourself, um, quick, styling de novo, like this completely completely by yourself, yeah, and also I got a good mentor shah, shamsi she's, the executor menstrual and also like the makeup mixture in singapore, so she's the one who got me into theater um for hair yeah and then that's when i started uh styling weights doing hair like six years ago, who else Who else do you usually style? Your wigs for in singapore? I think my clientele face is very different. I mean like very white, so like um, i do for singing as well like riley, uh, singaporean singers yeah. If i were to go online to just buy a wig okay, if it's not from um wigs by salome, how would i know that it's a good quality wig or can you not? Can you never tell uh? I think the shine shine plays a lot. Uh shine is good like an important role. Uh, it depends if you're doing a beach ball. Shine is good. I mean it depends on individual, but for me i don't like wigs that are too shiny, because a lot of cosplay wigs are very shiny right and then people try to take out the shine yeah. But now cosplay weeks are much more expensive than drag wigs. Really. Why? Because of the quality and the styles? Now i follow a few cosplay hair stylists and i'm just like wow they're, amazing, huh and the way they structure their wigs are amazing. Are they they use a foam and the use of everything to start the wigs? I think it's really amazing. I wish i wish we could do that like yeah, i i find cosplay wigs, so intricate and everything - and these guys i mean even their costuming - is really next level with all the lines, the way they use the way they use foam and all that yeah. I think cosplay is a lot a lot of money like much more than yeah drag at least most things you can reuse sometimes, but for cosplays you almost can never reuse it right. The wig is like so specific to a character yeah, but i think they are only doing that one character, so i guess yeah or that one like convention or something there used to be a lot of cosplays in singapore yeah. My sister, my sister used to be a huge cosplayer. She used to go all the cons and would um she would like overseas. No singapore yeah, oh really, my sister used to do a lot of that. How can you style wigs nowadays? Oh, my god, maybe once a month once a month, oh yeah uh are drag queens still buying wigs uh, not anymore, i mean no one does right. Now i mean they do love us. I mean i understand why they're not spending how about you are you doing any drag, shows or anything during lockdown? No, i wish i care how about drag race. Are you watching this current season? Yes, how do you find the wigs on drag race? Uh boring? I don't know, i think various now the witch is very boring, yeah they're, almost all like the same right. Yeah, it's not drag trap. You know now he's just more of the fish feminine, but i think rupaul's wigs are the best. How do you know how to do those kind of wigs like it's like this huge massive height? I don't know how to do it. Huh yeah. We can only wear a big head. I envy the girls that can walk, buy small hair, i mean you know like even on drag race. Um, god mix got mixed with so small. She can get away with, like you know, smart smaller wigs, whereas peanut burner needs to get like such massive wigs. That'S true, i look so weird in a very like flat way, because you're, a man maury where's that reference from it's a tv talk show where they used to bring on a lot of these drag queens and transsexuals in the 1990s to make fun of them. Oh, i think yeah. I think i know which one maury povich was his name and now i'm just trying to blend blend this into the page, one who's, your favorite on, drag race, this season, candy candy, oh yeah. I know weird right but yeah. Do you think simone's wig's uh wig line is really horrible? Have you seen her? Have you have you been watching every time she's on screen? Oh, yes, yeah! So most big lines are so crunchy. It'S like it's like it's like she's, so perfect in every other way, but her weak lines are horrendous. Even rupaul. Wait line is bad. Do you not see, rupaul doesn't have a drupal doesn't have a wig line, rupaul just sits there and the hair starts like there. Yeah, you see the ball head, you see the ball head and then this is like photoshop. I really enjoy styling wigs i mean, even though i don't get it completely right all the time. I find that um, it's very terrifying. Again. Yes, oh my god, i mean when it's nice, it's very, very rewarding yeah, going back to your business. What have you learned since you started your business even in late week, business about everything i don't know? Did you suffer from the weak shortage that they talked about? Drag race, no, no wins or no, ah, that there are weights, but those are like the cheapest trees. You know like this very cheap, looking ugly hairline, uh shining fiber, it's really cannot cannot make it kind of how's yours coming. Yours is a muscle wave! Oh you! You know you know one of the wigs that i really like that you start the red afro, not the afro, but the very tight curls you posted a few months ago. How do you get those small curls with um normal size rollers, or do you use um? I have different size rollers here. Let me show you my rollers: what's the size of those rollers, i'm trying to buy smaller, smaller rollers, but on amazon i can't find like the really small ones you should find the one in singapore uh. Oh, where do you buy in singapore huh this place called then something it's behind that tree. It'S like a hair supply. They remove the stupid clips. I snagged everything put everything up. It'S not coming out what happened. He just came up with see it's not coming. Oh so nice, i don't know if you're, if your work is very nice, i might keep it for myself. Is this? Is this wig you're using one of your queen queen wigs or is it uh? Yes, one of the queen, what you still have the green lime? Huh yeah dude, but i i didn't post it up twisting for myself, oh wow, what's your favorite color to me like colorway, i think i'm a redhead yeah! I used to think i was a blonde, but i think recently i've been wearing a lot of orange wigs and it seems to look orange, wigs or red. Wigs seem to look pretty okay on me all right, so i think we're just going to um neaten up these wigs a little bit and i'm going to try to fix the mess i made here and we'll be back with the finished look to model our wigs.
