Hey everyone: it's me maggs and i'm back with another video, i'm actually filming on my iphone. I got a new phone, so i'm going to like test it out and see how the camera works. So this is the front camera. How am i looking? Am i looking clear, i'm looking okay, so this video is all about why i do not sleep in my wigs, why i don't sleep in my clip-ins and why i don't sleep in ponytail styles and the reasons why i do not wear those styles for an extended Amount of time so, let's get into it, but first i have to show you my anna louisa jewelry, since i am their brand ambassador. So this month i am loving this chain. It is so cute and simple and just really takes a simple outfit up to the next level. I love it so much, and i also have my earrings today that i am in love with it's like a double hoop earring on one um earring, and i do have this really interesting. Second earring here um on my second hole: it's it doesn't have an earring back, so you put the earring in and you kind of clamp it together at the lobe area like this really really cute - and i am just loving it so much and on this earring I do have my other anna louisa earring that i had from the previous video. I just put that one up here at the top. Just to you know, give me some ear jewelry, you know some ear fun, and this is just totally my style. Really nice clean and simple that takes my outfit up to the next level. So, if you're interested in checking out anna louisa, they do have a holiday sale. Going on right now is buy one get one 60 off and you know i love a sale. Okay, i am all about sales, so go ahead and check out the link down in the description, so you don't miss out because you definitely don't definitely check out the website. There is something on there for everybody, okay, so all about clip-ins. We love our pieces girl. Okay, we love a cute enhancement personality when it comes to hairstyles and things, and you know i love my clip-ins. I have so many clip-ins. You guys see me do tutorials using clip-ins in different ways and different styles, but i will have to say: clip-ins can be very damaging, they can be very, very damaging and i would not suggest sleeping in them or wearing them in extended time frames um and what I mean extended time frames anything over like three four days in my opinion and for me that's like, but for me i wear my clip-ins only for a few hours and i take them out at night time. I never sleep in my clip-ins because the clip itself, when you clip this into the base of your hair, depending on, if you braise your hair down or you're parting, your hair and placing the clip in with each part with your hair out one. That'S not a protective style. Okay that can cause some problems too one. It could dry your hair out with having your hair blended in with the clippings too, and then two clipping this into the base of your hair and then you're sleeping in this laying down, depending on, if you're, a wild sleeper or if you got something else going On this can rip and cause breakage at the nape area and that could eventually down the line lead to some thinning. So i would not suggest doing that. I wouldn't suggest even braiding your hair down in in clipping the clip on top and wearing it for an extended amount of time. Now. I do prefer that for me right now, as far as like braiding the hair down and then clipping the clips on top. But it's still kind of like on the ippy side for me, because i have to dig the clip in in the braid and snap it, and that also makes me uncomfortable because that could also cause breakage tooth. So i just wouldn't suggest it um. I would say if you do need to have your clippings in for an extended amount of time i feel like that, would be okay in moderation, but repeatedly doing that can actually cause some breakage and some thinning to your hair. So i would just suggest wearing it, for a few hours and taking them out, so you can tend to your hair every night or every day, um, especially if you're on a healthy hair journey and you're looking to retain length and health. And you still like your clip-ins like i do. I just wear them for a few hours and then remove them at night, but i have never worn my clip-ins longer than a few hours. I do not wear them for weeks at a time or days at a time. The longest i wear mine for is literally for a couple hours during the day and two sleeping in these clip-ins can be very uncomfortable and also sleeping in clip-ins in your hair. That also has the ability of um diminishing the quality of the hair. So if you're sleeping in clip-ins - and you know you're sleeping like this - that can mat up the hair right and eventually that will diminish the longevity of your extensions. Also. So that's another reason why i would not suggest sleeping in any of your extensions because they can mat up things like that. Just take it off at night, set it on something that you like and set it out the way and your your extensions actually will last longer too so on to wigs. I do not sleep in my wigs either for many of the same reasons, why? I don't sleep in my clip-ins, so one of the number one reasons why i do not like sleeping in wigs is because the wig cap, the wig cap, it was dead. Oh that's, some foundation. The wig cap can be very drying. Okay, if you use a stocking cap, a wig cap, this can be so so drying and when i say drying like no matter how much you moisturize and seal your hair put oil in it before this soaks up all that product, because i know when i do Wear my wigs for a few hours when i do moisturize and seal my hair and then place the wig cap on by the end of the night. When i take this wig cap off, all the product is absorbed in here and also wig caps, depending on. If you do the bald method - or you just place it on your head, that also has the ability to kind of like manipulate and move around around your hairline. I don't really like to do too much um when it comes to my hairline when it comes to wigs um, and this can also have the ability to you know really um cause breakage for your nape area and that's also the reason why i do not braid. My hair a lot of the times when i am wearing wigs um, because i like to take my wig off at night and moisturize and seal my hair. So that's the main thing for me, even though wigs um is one of my favorite protective styles, but it can be one of the most messed up when it comes to your hair, especially around this the lace area, it has a lot of texture right, so this Can actually rub and move around depending on how the install is um. This can cause breakage, especially around the hairline. This rough texture, also the combs, can be very damaging also if you dig them into your hair and you in your say, if you wear your wig for an extended amount of time and you're sleeping it can move around and tug at your. You know your roots and things like that. Also the nape area, where the adjustable straps are that can get caught on your nape and cause breakage too, because it's happened to me before when i wear my wigs just only for a few hours. Sometimes this can catch on onto your your nape um, so i just wouldn't suggest wearing wigs um at night. When you go to bed, i wouldn't suggest it, but you can do what you want um. You know a few times won't hurt in moderation, but i just don't enjoy sleeping in wigs one, because i'm comfortable when i go to bed, it's just all on my neck. You know, and also this week right here that i've had. This is one of my favorite. Wigs i've had this week for going on 2019. Is that almost three years ago i don't sleep in my wigs, and i noticed that you know the longevity of my wigs has been like crazy good, because i'm not sleeping in them they're not getting all matted up and messed up. I take the wig off brush. It out real good and place it on my mannequin head at night time so by the morning. If i want to put it back on it's fresh, it's nice, i don't have to do too much. I just put it on and go so my also my feelings when it comes to melting the lace. I do not do that very often. I know i do it here on my youtube channel for tutorials and i've recently gotten a lot better with melting. My lace and i've worn melted lace a few times this year, but i just would not suggest it as far as long wear, because all the product that can catch on your hairline, i don't care what anybody says that can have the ability to catch on your Hairline, especially if you weren't are wearing braids that can be kind of tight, especially if the braids are going back that can pull on your hairline and cause thinning. I just don't. I tend to not wear braids when it comes to my wigs, because the tension from braids can also cause some breakage if you're repeatedly doing the braids and they're really tight. So i just wouldn't do that and i really wouldn't suggest, wearing the wigs for a crazy extended amount of time, because you also need to make sure your scalp is staying clean and that you're, deep conditioning your hair and and making sure that your hair is moisturized. Because you don't want to completely neglect your hair under this wig because it can get really dry like dry dry and we don't want that because dryness causes breakage and we do not want that. And lastly, when it comes to ponytail styles and things like that, i do not sleep with those styles for an extended amount of time. I do get my hair done with micah to do a ponytail, every blue moon - and i sleep in that for maybe the max three days, and i know that's not everybody's reality. If you go get your hair done like you, want to wear your style a little bit longer right, but i would just suggest to just do it in moderation, especially if it's a tight ponytail, because that can cause breakage too, especially that tension um. You don't want to get tensioned alopecia. Hopefully, i'm saying that correctly, where that's, when you repeatedly do a style, that's tight and that can cause breakage on your hairline, your nape, to a point where that hair is no longer going to recover and grow back, definitely want to be careful when it comes to Tight styles and wearing those for an extended amount of time repeatedly, you do not want to do that so, basically, overall, i do not sleep in any of my extensions because i like to tend to my hair at night time i like to moisturize and seal my Hair at night to really get in there and make sure that my hair is nice and moisturized, and i like to shampoo and condition my hair during the week and do co-washes during the week. So certain protective styles. I do wear for a week at a time. But that is it, i think the longest i've ever worn a wig was for what four or five days, and that was it because i was on vacation somewhere, okay and tell me in the comment section below some of the things that you absolutely refuse to do. When it comes to your hair health, when it comes to extensions, let me know in the comments below and don't forget, to check out anna louisa down in the description below, so you can check out some jewelry for yourself. So if you have any questions, feel free to ask me and as always, thank you so much for watching and i'll see you later

Q: Yesss, take off your wigs at night ladies! I can’t stress this enough. About 2 years ago I had a wig installed for a week straight, when I went to finally remove the wig, the nape of my neck broke off COMPLETELY. Like to the point where I couldn’t put my hair up in a bun or ponytail because the back was literally bald. I’m JUST now able to wear my natural hair in buns/ponys again because it finally all grew back. Thank God, I was so scared that it wouldn’t grow back Never in my life will I do that again.

Katy The Beauty: See this video came just at the right time. I’m finally wearing some clip ins I had stored in my room and I got so tired I was wondering if I should sleep in them! Thanks for this now I put them out and I’m going to bed I can’t deal with any breakage!

BrownBeatss: Hey Megan, this is an awesome video, I do not Wear my wigs to sleep. I cannot stand ponytails to sleep. I tried before and wake up in the middle of the night and snatched it off

Ash_brii: I learned this the hard waythanks for educating us

Joy Deja King: Yes Megz you look gorgeous filming on your new iPhone❤️ Love this hairstyle on her and makeup is always on point. We appreciate you sharing why we should not sleep in wigs and clip ins

Luna: I could never sleep in anything that covers my scalp aside from my own natural hair . I start scratching at the end of wearing a wig for 1 day and it gives me headache . I have to be able to wash my hair every day too or else i feel gross

The Lee Williams Show: Absolutely! I approve this message. That wig cap can be the devil.

yousured: I make small ponytails and then clip the hair and I also spray the metal clips with a oil sheen so it’s easier to take out my hair after a few days …I sleep with it but I tie my hair hair down right or wrap it up so its still … so there’s no pulling … lol but it’s more comfortable to take it out … now that I have enough hair and I don’t use the clips unless I’m going somewhere fancy

Brianna Inez: I used to sleep with my clip ins when I was younger and I suffered horrible breakage to the point I had bald spots where my hair is finer (in the nape). Never again.

Lisa Cox: Thanks hon for the realness, I appreciate that information. Some times we don't see how the things we love can also hurt us. Especially when you trying to grow your hair

Reva Footman-Gadson: Sis! Love the video and it was very helpful and informative. I just got into wigs. Not the laces though but the headband wigs... Very good protective style... What do you suggest for those??... As far as wearing them, how long and sleeping?? (I take it off every day and night, wear it for about 4 days to a week and I wear my real hair)... Looking forward to your suggestions

lisia1989: Thanks for this. How do you feel about Microlinks? Especially since you typically don't sleep in your wigs and clip-ins.

Zee: Not Me laying down w/ my wig cap on watching this..

Luna: Wig caps have a nasty chemical smell sometimes too so unless you wash and dry them before use I don’t think they should be in contact with your scalp ( along with glue ) for weeks at a time

Mrs G: is it ok to wear clip ins on a daily basis and take them off at night? I know you mentioned wearing them some hours but what about if its for some hours but on a daily basis and taking it off at night? Also which way is better cornrow the hair underneath, or just part the hair and put in the clips ins? which way would i get less damage?

sailor doom: I’m going to Nigeria and wanted to wear a wig….was going to melt the lace, use the bald cap method with Erika J’s glue and everything. I had planned on sleeping in it for the 2 weeks I will be there since I’m getting married. I guess that’s not a good idea….

shephat69: I just KNEW you had on ana Luisa before you even said anything! I have that exact necklace AND those hoops but they are the bigger size. LOVE!!

Ms. Shabria Gxo: This video was very informative, appreciate it and yes, the video quality looks amazing from your new iPhone ❤️

Belle Mbwese: I’ve been wanting to try Ana Luisa for a while I think I just might now this phone quality is amazing! What iPhone is this please? X

Alicia Desrelles: I wore clips in a line at the back of my hair, which I pulled out every night, I had a horrible breakage . Are there not silicone clips or other less traumatic than metal clips ?????

Chanice Rich: What's a good protective style that can be worn daily especially for someone with already thin edges i feel like everything will break it and my hair is short and thin i don't like any styles with just my hair?

CoCo Unique Mitchell: Hey new subscriber!!! You are soooooo creative and your new phone is doing a great job!

Stacie Jones: Thank you for the information very interesting

Lolo Future: I have never glued a wig in- I only wear wigs I can clip in or use elastic band method. So I whip that thing off my head faster than a DDD takes her bra off when she gets home
