Hey girlfriends, I don't know who's with me right now, I'm so excited to be back uh. I am like it's been so long since I've actually done a live and it's been too long. So hopefully, a couple of you, a bunch of you from the curlfriend crew, can join um. There'S been so many new girlfriends here on by natural hair rocks and I just thought it was necessary to come on and like connect because yeah like there's almost six thousand. Can you believe that, like almost 6 000 girlfriends strong to me, that is absolutely amazing. I never in a million years thought there would be this many of us. If you are joining the live, then definitely let me know who you are so I can say hi um, but yeah like it's just been a whirlwind of a journey here on five natural hair rocks um, I'm here to answer anything. There were a couple of questions that already came through and I kind of just wanted to. I guess maybe start off with those questions. First, as it relates to natural hair and then also kind of talk about. You know what's going to happen on by natural hair rocks next, so if, of course, the title of today's live stream is need, answers about your natural hair join the live to finally clear it all up, so I also want to say thank you so much for Engaging in the community tab um, I'm all about making content that you actually want to see, and so, if you have a question - and you know you have it and it just kind of came up, definitely feel free to drop it in the comment section and I Will be sure to answer it so, just leaning into some of the questions that kind of came up on fine natural hair rocks directly one of the biggest questions is you know? How often should you pre-poo your fine natural hair now pre-poo is something that, in my view, really helps out the natural hair washing process it allows to avoid breakage. It allows to avoid um. You know really difficult manipulation methods like it's just a really good way to kind of lubricate the Strand so that things don't break off. So I mean that being said, I would say the correct answer to that and that was in our community tab today. The correct answer to that is as often as needed. I mean there really is no direct answer as it relates to this is the golden standard across all financials or all Naturals like it doesn't really work like that and so um. I would definitely recommend, if you're washing your hair on like a weekly basis, then you might want to pre-poo on a weekly basis. If you're washing your hair on a monthly basis, then you want to pre-poo on a monthly basis. So, however, long you're pre-pooing your financial strands, and this applies to natural hair as well. So if you're in the comments, if you're out there - and you know you don't - have fine strands but you've got natural strands, I mean the great thing about the advice for fine and fragile natural hair. Is it's only going to actually serve to like help your hair? Even more if you've got thicker strands so really the Holy Grail, takeaway point from like how often to pre-poo find natural strands would be as often as you wash unless you're co-washing. Now, if you're co-washing your hair, I personally don't need that extra lubrication um factor to it, because if you're co-washing, your hair with something that's good and already has a lot of slip, you'd kind of be defeating the purpose to go in. On top of this Co-op. Sorry, the pre-poo on top of it as well too, so it would kind of be like too much so to speak, like you would have the pre-poo, which is lubricating in nature, and then you would have the co-wash, which is also lubricating in nature. The thing about a co-wash, as opposed to shampoo, is that a co-wash, it lubricates the strands and it doesn't strip or cleanse as much as a regular shampoo. So if you are using your shampoos right in the same way that you're using your co-washes, I would recommend not to use a pre-poo in that circumstance. I myself have gone ahead and used a pre-poo before a co-wash before and curlfriend it was a disaster like I wouldn't recommend it. Don'T do it then. Now I will say that I want to preface that with the fact that, like if you've got like super dry strands or you've been pre-pooing your hair before co-washes and it's working for you, then you should probably keep doing that because all of our heads of hair, All of our strands are so different right and because they're so different, they definitely require like a different um mechanism, a different routine, a regimen, that's really going to work really well for you. One of the other questions that I find comes up quite often is like how often to deep condition your strands and like what to deep condition your strands with, and I get it that could be totally confusing because there are so many different, deep conditioners out there. Like even just looking at my stash over there, there are so many deep conditioners in there there's a protein deep conditioner, there's a moisturizing, deep conditioner there's a protein balance deep conditioner. There are so many deep conditioners inside of that stash. Now I see that we've got seven lovely girlfriends who are joining us today. Definitely let me know who you are um. I would love to. You know connect shout you out and yeah if you've got questions drop that in the comment section down below there really is no flow, no, not no flow, but there's no structure in the sense of don't be afraid to you know jump in with your comments, because Absolutely this session right here this live stream, is for you so um. Where was I yes, deep conditioners, so the deep conditioners? You really want to know what your hair needs. Now I personally deep condition my hair before every single wash and not co-wash, every single shampoo, wash um for the reasons that I mentioned earlier with like just builds up and too much product like you, don't want to go in with a pre-poo and then or sorry, Not a pre-pro with a co-wash and then on top of that you know layer on a deep conditioner it'd just be too much um. So I wouldn't recommend that, and I don't actually do it, but as it relates to shampooing my hair, which I do on a as needed basis. But you know no, no more or no less, rather than at least every bi-weekly. I would recommend that you go in with that particular a deep conditioner um on every, like after every single wash now which one to use if your hair is feeling kind of like gummy, it's feeling like it doesn't really have a structure. You stretch stretch stretch and like it's just feeling like it's gon na break right off, then I would say you need moisture now. If your hair is feeling super hard and or sorry, then I would say you need protein now. If your hair is feeling super hard and like you know, it's just stiff and it doesn't have any movement. So it's not malleable none of those things then I would say, go in with some moisture now. So many of us who are starting on our fine natural hair Journeys actually don't really know like what to use right and in those instances I would say to use a protein moisturizing, balancing type of deep conditioner that you know you can just apply to your hair. You'Re not quite sure what it needs, and then you can reset your journey from there. So once you've reset your journey from there and you've applied the protein moisturizing balancing deep conditioner, then you can go in and say: okay, I reset my hair. I'M gon na go in with moisture on my next wash day after that washed. It you go in with a protein treatment and then you kind of just alternate them, so this stuff doesn't have to be difficult. It really doesn't um. I feel, like that's a really good way, to kind of start learning how your particular natural strands operate, how your hair, um, you know, responds to these various different treatments. Another question it tends to come in very often is you know? How do you you know braid or twist or style, your own natural, hair and curlfriend? If I had the answer to that, I don't know man, I would be a millionaire because the thing is is like I myself, actually struggle with styling my own natural strands, um right now, you'll notice that I am wearing a bonnet or not a bonnet. It'S more like a turban, I'm wearing a turban, and this turban I'm wearing it because underneath it is a whole wash day and there's a story to that whole wash day as well. So today, earlier um I went ahead and it's not good story. I don't know why I'm sharing this, I mean it's not the worst either, but it still is. It was an experience. So for me, washing my hair is a relaxing experience. It'S a nice thing to do on a Friday after the whole work week. You know you kind of wash off All the Troubles of the week and you know kind of lean in to some relaxation, and so that's where I was that's where I was mentally. That'S what I was looking for and I went in I washed my hair. I applied you know I did the pre-poo thing earlier today and for my pre-poo today I actually used this product right here. So this is the Nature's little secret fenugreek detangling pre-poo, and I love this stuff. I absolutely love this stuff um, so I went in with it and left it on my strands conducted. My zoom calls today um because for those of you who don't know, I am a non-practicing human rights lawyer, I'm non-practicing in the sense of like you know, litigation and going to court, but certainly practicing in the sense of advising and um. You know Drafting and creating policy and running a department um, that's what I do in my day-to-day, so a lot of it is zoom calls so um in between those Zoom calls and or starting the day. Rather, I had the opportunity to wash my hair throw on a turban and keep it moving with the pre-poo underneath so um you know lunchtime hit. I had like a brief between calls. I decided to go ahead and wash it out and then apply my deep conditioner. So for today's deep conditioner um, if you've been following Financial hair rocks, you know that I had in some kinky twists. I recently took the kinky twist out and now I need to reset my hair. So I went in with a balancing, deep conditioner and I don't know if you can see it from there. Actually, you cannot see from there because I finished it. It'S in my it's finished so I went in and I used the myel Organics, the vasu in mint. Deep conditioner and the reason why I use this is for the reasons that I mentioned earlier in this live to literally balance the strands so when in with this product - and you know continued about my business - the date ended, it was a you know. All the days are stressful as a human rights floor, we tend to wear our hearts on our sleeves. It'S the only area of law, arguably speaking that deals with like emotions and people's feelings, and things like that so dealt with all of that and then I'm like. Okay time to wash my hair out time to really you know, take my time to tangle, I'm in the shower and the water just turns freezing cold like it was so cold girlfriend it was freezing. So I was like oh my gosh. I spoke to Hubby. I was like yo did you turn on the dishwasher, because, like the way my house is set up, if you run too much hot water in one end, all of the hot water is gone on the other end y'all. Let me know if that's your situation as well too, where you live, but if you're anything like me like you, do not like cold showers, especially like I'm from Toronto, like it's cold enough outside, we don't need coolness inside too so because of that, instead of just Staying there and washing out so they're literally half done so this side is washed out and has in the leave-in conditioner from um and the one that I used today was like a moisturizing leave-in conditioner from myel Organics, and then this side has um the deep conditioner. So went ahead and was only able to really wash out one and detang like detangle, one side and so yeah. Here we are, you know not able to really enjoy a full wash day natural hair spa day because of issues with water but anyways. I digress um. That is the reason why I'm approaching you with the turbine today so yeah as it relates to styling, like the only advice that I could give there in terms of learning how to style your own Financial hair without breakage. Without you know, manipulation or over manipulation, I would recommend making sure that your your strands are blown out. So whenever now that my hair is getting longer, whenever I try to style it and I style it curly, I find that it's leading to a lot of damage. I find that it's leading to a lot of um unnecessary breakage, and, if that's you, let me know in the comment section because um there are ways around that. For me, I've noticed that you know. If I keep my strands straightened, I keep them in a blown out State. They tend to usually break off a little less often, which is fantastic now in terms of breakage and manipulation and like how you're dealing with your strands, especially after a protective style. Um definitely stay tuned for Monday's video, which is currently almost done being edited whereby I am going to be sharing exactly how to take down your protective styles with as minimal breakage as possible. So if that's something that you're looking for I mean so many of us are wearing kinky twists, braids, we're wearing cornrows, we're wearing all kinds of different things, and then you know growing nice strands. So, like there's a lot of growth, you can see it like the Strand. The braid is like hanging off of the new growth, but then you take it out and all the growth is gone like that's happening for very specific reasons, and I'm going to share exactly why in my video on Monday. So definitely stay tuned for that. But I do find that you know when your hair is straightened out when you use, like you, know healthy straightening methods or your strength, uh stretching methods. It really does help to increase the health of the strands. Now, for me, you guys hear me talk about it. All the time, I'm definitely gon na go ahead and drop the link as soon as I can find it inside of the comment box. But for me what I find is really working very well in terms of number one growth number two allowing manageability to you know style of the strands is the Revere and so um. Yes, it's pricey, but it's one of those things that I can honestly say. Even if well when I first started using the Revere, I was not a partner with them um and I did purchase it with my own funds and I would purchase it again and again and again just because of the health benefits and the fact that you know. I do really feel, like I see a difference in my strands, I'm retaining length and I'm able to stretch out my strands a lot more easily than in the past um. I see that this video seems to be private, Crow friends, you let me know, have you well. I see that there's seven of us here. I don't know why the live is private. It shouldn't be um, because it's not letting me provide any comments which I find is very strange, so uh one second, so no so what I'm gon na do is I'll drop the link directly into the chat just having a little bit of technical difficulties right now. I appreciate your patience with that um, but yeah. I just find that, like the Revere has really made a difference, it really is one of those transformative devices that I don't necessarily feel like. I need to buy another device, as it relates to like a hot tool, because I don't flat iron, my hair um, you, let me know, do you flat iron, your hair, I'd love to know, but I personally do not flat iron, my hair, I find that it Causes a lot of damage. I find that it's also um. You know just not necessary right, like you, don't need to flat iron, the hair to style it um. You could definitely achieve styles on your fine natural hair that have nothing to do with um. You know adding Heats, which can be really really difficult, so um, sorry, I'm just gon na see if I can make this um please edit the start time. This is so weird um. It'S not allowing me to add anything directly to the chats, which is bizarre um. I don't know why so one second curl friends, thank you so much for your patience, um and hopefully I'll be able to okay. So I see that I can I'm gon na add directly from my phone. That'S the only way I'm able to see and connect with you guys. I was wondering why I wasn't able to like see you so w says: hi hi, oh my gosh, I'm seeing comments now. Oh, I I'm so mad that this is like set up like this. So if you're wondering how making this work, I literally have to use my phone right here. Yes, I'm watching my own ad and thank you for watching the ads. You guys, Those ads absolutely do support by natural hair rocks. They help find natural hair rocks continue. I run Financial hair rocks because I am in love with you know, helping other people along their own Journeys. I was there. I was absolutely there struggling with my strands. Just like some of you. You know all my life. I never had long hair. You can ask anybody in my family, long hair, healthy hair. That was not something that I had it growing up as a child, and so this natural hair journey is something that I really I wanted to do it for me to really, but like I could actually grow strands. I could you know, live a life that wasn't dependent on you, know, weaves and and and and all kinds of like uh extensions for hair like I wanted to live that life, and I wanted to prove to myself I'm very stubborn. I wanted to prove to myself that it could work so um. Yes, I see that super Kobe's here your skin looks amazing. What are you using? Thank you so much so um. What am I using I'm using a couple of different things? Really and truly I drink a lot of water um, it's always here and on that note, I'm gon na take some right now and in addition to that, I exercise a lot curlfriends. I can't even tell you how much I exercise I exercise about four to five times a week, no five to six times a week. Let me be fair and I do something called Orange Theory: Fitness if you're interested in learning more about my fitness journey and my skincare or regimen um. They both go very much hand in hand, and I'm happy to start talking more about that, because here on by natural hair rocks, I am hoping to expand a little bit in some more different areas of topics that will really help the girlfriend crew. I know we're all here and we're here to talk about hair and we will always be talking about hair, but there's another ass, there's more to life right, there's more to the overall package, um that I think, once you become comfortable in your own skin comfortable in Your own hair you're really able to navigate um in a successful way. So some of the things that I'm thinking of um you know delving a little bit deeper into if you're interested in it is things like Finance like I was able to purchase my own house in the middle of the pandemic. Along with my husband, that's true, and you know there were some tools. There were some strategies that were needed and necessary to affect that type of an outcome, and so, if that's something that you're interested in in terms of like Financial stability, wealth, like intergenerational wealth, like those are common, those are things that I'm constantly reading up on and Things that you know as I learn and expand, I want to help you, but back to the question about the skin, I've actually been using um a serum, so I do use uh. This was sent to me. Actually, this is the Mac hyper real serumizer um. I I find any serum really works, but this one's kind of very nice in the sense that it's it's beautiful like it, goes on very easily. And then, once you put the serum on your skin, you could then apply um any kind of a moisturizer. On top of it as well, I also use a lot of lush products. There is this one mask? Oh my gosh girlfriend the mask is so wicked. I'M gon na find the link for you um. It'S actually called a mask of Magna minty or something like that, and it's from Lush and y'all like the thing is just the bomb.com like I bought it for myself. Let me tell you how good it is. I bought it for myself and I had no intentions to share this mask with my husband, like I was just trying to you, know, enjoy it myself because number one like it's very difficult to come across and number two is expensive, like let's be real, it's expensive, Anyways hubby found it fell in love with it and now we're both using this mask of magnaminty, which has a tendency to really illuminate the skin, making it look brighter making. It look healthier um and you know just doing all the things that you want your skin to be doing so I mean, if you're interested in that I'm just trying to find the link for you guys right now, um, I think it's a Canadian brand as well Too, but this is something that I use quite regularly on my skin and it's what I've been seeing some of the most benefits with um, so I'm just gon na drop it in right now, um that lush.ca link is the um Magnum NC mask, and so what You do, is you put it on your skin, you wear it for like 50 minutes. You can use it daily, so usually I'll like that's like the pre-shower bit like I'll put it on my face and then go in the shower. Let it do its thing. While you know I shower the rest of my body, but I find it really works nicely because, as you're taking your shower you're in there anyways and so yeah, it's just really really nice Kobe says today I found out another young woman jumped to her death felt Fake depressed a lot: how do you reach someone going through this? So this is a really big question um and I think that's an important one, because so many people are going through mental health issues right now, so shout outs to Super cxbis, for you know dropping that question in the chat um I mean when you see somebody Going through something like you definitely want to reach out and help as much as possible so like offering resources offering an air to listen um. Maybe if you're, not someone who you know you readily have access to resources, because maybe your job or your you know your lifestyle is very separate and distinct from this type of stuff. But I think it really makes a difference to go in and um. You know provide that ear to listen and just offer that, like shoulder to cry on, even because so many people out there are out there suffering in silence. I can say here in Toronto: right now there has been an influx of violence and influx of clear mental health issues, and people are suffering like I think. Even today, my mom was saying that somebody was on the subway and assaulted a police officer the day before or two three days ago, there was a woman who was walking down the street, an older, an elderly woman. She was about 90 years old and somebody pushed her literally pushed her and she's 90.. So obviously she died right, like people of that age. Can'T really, you know, handle uh falling like that and and coming out alive right, and so the city like people are starting to call Toronto Gotham City, just because it really is like almost every single day. I would say something is happening here, but um yeah offering that support um there's usually help lines. I know in Canada, you can. You know, there's usually helplines, even on the Subways they've got like advertisements about those helplines um for suicide watch, but yeah like really just leaning into that person and doing Wellness checks like there are people in your life who you may not necessarily hear from a lot. Maybe you know you see that they look happy, they look good, but they might be suffering in silence, because this Society I find - and you let me know in the chat this Society - is something that kinda. It just seems to celebrate, being quiet about. What'S not good and being super loud about what's amazing, and so that doesn't really Jive very well with everybody's personalities. I find some people can really be driven into isolation because they're, afraid and they're embarrassed to say that they're struggling - and you know that happens a lot in the community. So I just encourage everybody to reach out. You know that person who maybe doesn't have a lot of friends that person who you know you know they're going through something like they. You ask them if they're, good and they're like yeah, you know I'm fine like maybe just visit them or you know, offer to go out with them whatever like and it doesn't have to cost money like yes, inflation is real. Life is expensive um. It could just be as simple as taking a walk. I mean it's cold right now in the Eastern hemisphere, like you know, I'm talking New York and Toronto, like it's very cold but like still like. Sometimes it could be just nice to like get that person out. Um and you'd be surprised when you do a wellness check. You check someone's house. If you don't feel comfortable just showing up at someone's house and you're really really concerned, then you could also consider calling you know like. I don't like the idea of calling the police, but police do Wellness checks as well, bearing in mind that that could end really badly for people of color. So I mean take that part with a grain of salt, but I would like, I think, the best piece there is to like go and check up on people yourselves like FaceTime them like try just try to connect on something that you know that they would want To connect on um I'm going through the uh chat now and I see Cyrus Joseph says: hey, hey, I don't have natural hair. I have course natural hair LOL. So how many times a week should I watch wash? Thank you so much. That is a fantastic question. So earlier in the live, we did kind of talk about that a bit, but I would say to wash your hair on an as needed basis. So what does that mean? That means that you know if you've got product builds up. If your scalp feels itchy, if you know you're putting things on top and it's not really doing things like your products, they're saying you know that they should do something like say, for example like having like a softening effect. You apply it to your hair and it has no effects whatsoever. Those things can be indicators that there's product builds upon the strands and that you probably need to do a wash. Now, if you really, you don't know where to start, I would say start off with chances are likely, your hair is moisture deprived, and so you might want to go in doing you know wash days like every single week once the moisture levels start to go back Up then, you can start doing your wash day on a bi-weekly basis and then kind of like assessing it from there. So the really only way, the only way that you can really know exactly how much your hair needs in terms of wash days is by touching it. By doing your hair yourself, like a lot of us, you know, might have access to someone who can wash our hair first themselves or you know you go to the salon, but I would really encourage you to like just take ownership of that Journey yourself. In terms of your natural hair care and really lean into learning it yourself, because trust me, there is no one who can take care of your hair as best as you can take care of it, especially if you have goals for like length and strength and thickness, Which I know for a fact, a lot of us here in the girlfriend crew have goals for thickness. I know that is something that plagues us, the most um you know when we talk about whether or not you'd prefer thick care versus long hair. The last uh Community tab post that we did the poll 252 of you voted. So, thank you so much for that amazing engagement, it's so nice to learn from you, but 56 of you guys said you want thicker hair over longer hair, which I thought was really cool because you know I know you all know that person who's got super long Strands or maybe that's you um, and it's just not thick, and it doesn't matter how long it is it just doesn't look right because it's not thick um, so yeah, I think just you know, knowing what your goals are will really help you. I see that there's Jimmy Braxton is here hi Jamie. Thank you. So much for joining Jamie says. Is it necessary to use a heat protectant when using a hooded, dryer, fantastic question? So, yes, it is 100 necessary to use uh some type of a heat protectant whenever you're using heat. Now, even though I'm someone who uses the Revere I use heat, every heat protects it every single time. I will never apply heat to my strands without some type of a protectant, and that goes for coarser strands too, like Cyrus Joseph just mentioned, like natural hair is fragile in nature I mean fine strands are even more fragile, but across the gamut, natural hair is fragile Period and so if you're um, you know going under the hooded dryer, it's very important, so you could use um they've got cream-based uh heat protectant. I would recommend that for someone who has maybe looser textured strands, they also have oil-based heat protectants. I would recommend that for someone who has maybe thicker strands or maybe even using both so going in with the cream-based heat protectant going in with the oil-based heat protectant between the two, we tend to see more of the usage of cream-based heat protectants like a leave-in. That'S got heat protectant properties to it, um for like using a hooded dryer like Jamie mentioned, but you know if you're, using like you like the Revere or you're using a flat iron, especially that's when you want to go in with something that's a little bit more. Heavier, but if there's no takeaway from this, the number one takeaway piece is always use a heat protectant, which is a product that is actually marketed as a heat protectant. At some point, there was like a trend here on YouTube where people were using like random oils as heat protectants, and that was causing a lot of really um. You know unpredictable results and people were ending up with damage and breakage. So to avoid that whole situationship. Definitely just purchase some type of a product that has a heat protecting element to it. Now I personally, like the chi silk infusion, I'm gon na go ahead and drop that in the chat as well in case you're interested in checking it out, but um. For me personally, like I would never I've maybe like before, for in the beginning of my journey like when I didn't really know much about natural hair and was kind of just trying to figure things out on my own. I might have done it because not knowing just how damaging it is to apply heat without uh um heat protectant but, like you know, over the years, moving from that state of not knowing anything at all. To really being. You know like a self-learned expert in this space um I I would never do that anymore. So I went ahead and I dropped the cheese silk infusion. Um the link to that - and I also wanted to give you guys the heads up - that the links that I'm dropping in the chat they are affiliate links. So if you do purchase from that link, a small portion of that uh purchase at no extra cost to you will come towards fine natural hair rocks, which will serve as a support in terms of funding. The continuing production of financial hair rocks, um TJ says: Hey from Texas, hey, hey, what's up girlfriend you and I have been connecting so many times. That'S so wonderful to see you and everybody else on the live tonight. I know it's Friday. Night. 5. 31 p.m. Eastern Standard Time I am so honored and grateful that you chose to spend your time on a Friday with me here on financial hair rocks. It means the world to me. I do not take it for granted, but um. If there was anywhere. I could be right now. I would definitely choose Texas over Toronto, because Toronto is freezing uh super scx super kobus says I heard a woman called a mental health hotline for help she was going to kill herself and they hung up on her. It'S very sad yeah. That'S crazy, so returning back to that conversation about like people needing help and like just reaching out like that's the reason like I feel like we're at a state post pandemic. If I may say that I know the um who so the World Health Organization, I believe, Mets, I think it was today. Actually they met to determine whether or not they can now declare that the pandemic is over. I didn't I don't know what the outcome of that meeting was. If you do, let me know in the comment section, but essentially I really do feel like the Fallout from the pandemic, from everybody being isolated and forced to stay in their homes. Whether it was a good situation or an abusive situation, whether it was stable or it was unstable, we are now seeing the fallouts of that. We are 100 seeing the fallouts of that and it's a it's bad and it's only going to get worse and the part that concerns me um, you know, is things like this. Like you just mentioned Kobe, like I heard a woman called a mental health hotline and they hung up like people are tired. People are burns out. This whole work from home piece. Let me know in the comment section if you work from home, but a lot of employers are actually you know, stressing their employees out to work longer and harder hours, because they know that they work from home, which has forced a lot of places. Ontario being one of them, which is the province that I'm from to engage in um some workplace work from home policies that actually make it um prohibited to have workers working Beyond like the regular opening office hours, because it's just not healthy. So I mean that is extremely sad like when people are reaching out to support systems to you know, get help they shouldn't be hung up on at all, which kind of furthers the point, even more that if you know someone who's suffering. Please please, please lean on. Let them lean on you, you know direct them to sources of support that can help them better than you can um. You know that kind of Engagement, that kind of like interaction, can mean the world to somebody right, um and, yes, super Kobe, says no police yeah. I mean with people black people marginalized people, racialize people like calling the police can actually make the situation worse um. So yes, I would agree. It would be very dangerous to call the police, because you just don't know how that interaction might end. So between calling um the police and actually engaging directly, I would definitely recommend just engage directly like avoid the police altogether. Tj says I must wash weekly due to me having high porosity hair and my scalp gets itchy and dry, but the new leave-in I am using has really helped to keep the moisture in my okay so like what leaving are you using? Like that's TJ, I like that you brought that up, because that's the precise example that I was looking for in the sense that you really want to be aware of like what's happening with your own strands. Um and you know kind of taking what you see on YouTube with a grain of salt, so me I will put it out there. I am not a hair care specialist in the professional sense, but I have learned over. You know dealing with my own strands, taking it from really short, broken off, relax to longer thicker and healthier by implementing what works for me and learning what works for me. So the whole point of financial hair rocks is to really help. You learn what works for you, because I've been there where I you know blindly followed somebody else's regimen or blindly followed. You know the way somebody applies products to their hair or does a style on their hair and it doesn't work, and I was at the stage where you might be as well, where I was like okay, but I'm doing exactly what this person did like. Why isn't it working for me and reaching a state of situation right? But I mean it's not working for me, because the hair characteristics are different. The texture is different, like the DNA structure is different, like no two people have the same head of hair, and even if it might look similar even on one head of hair, you don't even have the same head of hair. Much less two separate people all together. So you really do need to like just go through that process of trial and error and learning what works for you and what doesn't. But I really like that comment because Human by natural hair rocks there was a time early in my journey, where I would say you know, look you want to wash your hair at least weekly, maybe bi-weekly a month is too long now I've realized, through my own Journey and realizing that the moisturization levels in my hair have risen. I don't and my hair, my scalp doesn't get itchy the way TJ mentioned that her scalp gets itchy um. I I wouldn't necessarily recommend that anymore. The recommendation from Financial her rocks now would be to really be aware of, what's happening on your scalp and then respond accordingly, so really on. That was meant by on an as needed basis. So super cxis says those Dominican salons be dragging out your hair with fine teeth Combs. I know. Oh my gosh girlfriend whether you have fragile strands thick strands, core strands, any kind of strands if your hair is Curly in nature, do not do not do not do not have DeMent like anybody, not even yourself. Combing, your hair with a fine tooth comb like those Combs, are not meant for textured hair they're, not those Combs were designed for type 1 hair or straight hair. Whatever you want to call it Euro European hair, it wasn't made for the hair that grows out of um. You know someone who looks like me scalp, so I mean I've been there like I've been there. I'Ve had situations when I was younger and you know people just didn't know right to their credit. There was no internet, there was no lovely YouTube that gave the ability to go on live stream and connect with people and learn and all that kind of stuff. We didn't have that, and so I was in you know, maybe an Auntie's lap or my grandma's lap or my mom's lap, where you know they've just picked up whatever comb they had and they were combing and girlfriend the amount of breakage, not to mention pain. That came from those sessions. You don't don't do that to yourself like we're beyond that, you don't need to be combing your hair or letting anybody else comb your hair for that matter with a fine-tooth comb. I would one million percent recommend hopping out of that salon. Chair ASAP before you lose all of the strands on your head, so that that that's crazy but um super says: where are you from I'm from Toronto? I am born and raised in Toronto, but my family is from the beautiful Caribbean island of Saint Vincent and the Caribbean. It is, I believe, it's a Westward Island um, which is situated just between St Lucia um. Grenada is very close by as well as Trinidad, so um. I absolutely love St Vincent. I haven't been there in a very long time um, but it is a beautiful island. I highly recommend you visit it. They are currently pouring a lot of money into tourism. So it's one of those islands where, if you don't know what I'm talking about, I get it um St Vincent isn't really known for tourism. It'S not really on the map. The way like a Jamaica or Barbados - or you know Trinidad even is on the map. It'S kind of like that forgotten a little island, but they are currently building a sandals they're building out the resort. We just got, I think, two or three years ago, an International Airport like a a functioning International Airport like when I say it's a small island. It'S a small island, but it is gorgeous absolutely gorgeous so um. Yes, that's where I'm from I'm from Toronto, but my background is Saint: Vincent Vinci, Vincent uh, miss ksr, one says: hi love the channel and the tips you share for caring for our fine hair. Thank you so much for coming Miss ksr, and it's honestly my pleasure, like I just look back on the journey that I had when I was like 10 12 13 years ago, and I just wanted nothing more than to not feel ashamed about. My natural hair, the state that it was in um, you know we, I come from a family that loves big, beautiful curly, natural hair um, and you know I never had that story where some people are like. You know. I had this story where my family was really encouraging me not to stop perming, my hair. That was never ever my story. Nobody was really invested in my hair in that sense that you know you must keep it permed and relaxed, and you know to that point. It also wasn't a healthy relaxed, hair anyways. So when I went natural number one, there was a lot of support and number two um. It was really a trial and error, and so the goal here with financial herocs and I'm so happy that you're enjoying it and you're reaping the benefits of that um, is to really you know, make somebody else's Journey. A little bit more smoother than mine was because you don't need to spend a ton of money. You don't need to spend a ton of time um. What you really need to do is be aware. Um, sorry, I think I'm losing uh Wireless here, but what you really need to do is be aware and cognizant of what's working for your strands and just keep on doing that um and kind of discard the rest so like if it's not working for you, then Get rid of it don't care like really - and this applies to me too, if I'm saying that you know something works for every like it comes across that something works for everybody. That'S never the message, um, it's if it works for you, then keep on doing it. So, like the trends, the fads, the you know, lie upside down and you know your hair will grow longer and thicker if you're lying down upside down with all the blood rushing through your head. Like that's crazy, you don't need to do that. So um, hopefully find natural hair rocks can help to dispel some of those myths. Um TJ, I am using the Camille Rose, honey leave-in. It really has been a game changer. For me, my fine hair, my fine High pool porosity hair loves - and today I get a compliment about how to find my hair is at day six post wash. That'S amazing, congrats, that's so huge! Isn'T it such a good feeling when, like you know how to style your strands yourself, number one and number two like the curls are just so on and popping and healthy that other people are recognizing it too. I find the best piece too, is like when you're, when your hair is so healthy, that it looks like it could even be like a little wig or a little weave like that is so cool. I'M really happy for you. That'S awesome so for CX says yes, big up yourself, Caribbean Queen, yes, the Caribbean is where it's at. I wish I could be there right now. I really do super says how important is it to air your hair? My sister never takes her wig off. I'M scared for her. Yes, yeah um, it's very important, so you don't want to be wearing your wig. 24. 7.. You definitely don't want to be sleeping in it. If you sleep in a wig, it will cause more damage than um benefits like it's. So, like the thing is, is your hair needs to Breathe Right, like technically speaking, like these protective styles, they're, really not protecting anything if people are wearing them to get away from, you know their own natural hair and that's a real thing right um. I just feel like you really want to take the wig off. Maybe change up your Styles. There are styles that are gorgeous. Yes, that's true, but um. There also could be those styles that are damaging too, like the kinky twist, for example, that I just took out is that a style that I would lean on for growth length and thickness? Absolutely not right, like that style was purely aesthetic in nature. Kinky twists are touted in the natural hair community as something that is very uh. You know it's, it's a protective style and it's going to grow your hair and maybe for somebody, but for me, and my fine strands like that, actually caused more issues than good. Now. I managed to mitigate it with you know the knowledge that I have, and you know, using certain products and using certain techniques and strategies to remove the hair, which I will share on Monday, but um on its own, like that is not a good style. So, returning back to the the wig like, I feel like it's one of those things where like, if someone's wearing it and taking it off on a nightly basis. Yes, that could be a really good protective style and, if they're taking care of their hair, underneath it now, if they're, just putting on the wig and going about their business or putting on the weave they're, not washing their hair they're, not using quality products that work For their strands, they don't have a regimen they're, just not really doing anything for the management and care of their hair itself, then that is just an aesthetic look. It'S not really doing anything for the overall health and and goodness of the strands so um. There was another thing I was speaking with a girlfriend earlier from New York and that girlfriend wanted to know what I thought about the whole uh PNG uh acquiring of my yellow Organics. Now I kind of wanted to stay away from that, because the last time I talked about my ear Organics like that video damn near, went like viral and like it just produced a lot of visual on the channel, and I just wasn't interested in engaging in that Again but I mean, I think, it's an important topic, because it's something that impacts a lot of people as it relates to like black owned businesses, black owned um products like being able to say it's black one period right, and so I'm gon na go ahead and Drop the name, the the video that was there last time when there was the whole controversy around um people wanting to cancel my own Organics. So I just find it really interesting when it comes to my Organics um, how much visual is thrown that CEO's way? Monique Rodriguez's way like I do feel like there is underlying um. I don't know like there's a lot of admiration for her for sure, but I do feel like there's a component of hater raid and you, let me know if that's if I'm reaching here, but I do feel like there's a component of hater raid um Monique is Gorgeous she's got beautiful children, a very handsome husband, a successful Life by all standards that society would consider to be successful. Um as it relates to the PNG takeover and from a business perspective if you're, building a business and that business is profitable. The whole point of building a business isn't to run it forever and ever amen. The point is to attract investors, which is exactly what my yellow Organics did and then to sell it to the highest bidder. Now there is definitely a difference between black owned and black lead, and I do understand, after having done some research on the entire controversy that um, you know, the black owned. The black lead piece is still there, but the black owned piece is no longer, and you know I'm not 100, I'm not mad at it. I mean when I initially heard about it. I was a little in my feelings because it would be nice to have a black version of PNG, but um we're not there yet, and you know there is a saying that you Got ta Creep before you walk. My all. Organics is a brand. It'S a company that has done a lot of really amazing things for the black community. I'Ve seen you know really amazing sponsorships pouring back into students, I've seen um. You know different programs pouring back into families that are suffering it from poverty. Type of circumstances like for people to say that you know myel has kind of turned her back on um the black community. I don't necessarily see that, and even with the acquiring the acquisition rather of uh myel Organics By PNG, Procter Gamble um. I did also see more evidence of doing so in a way that impacts the black community in a good way. So what am I talking about? I'M talking about um. I believe there was like a one million dollar uh donation that was matched by PNG so like miles donating one million and PNG is donating another one million to like black um initiatives that will help the black community. So for me personally, like I'm, actually I think it's a good thing like you create a company if you're an entrepreneur if you're entrepreneurally minded like that is the point. The point is to grow and to have reach. Now there was another piece of controversy that kind of hit um and it was related to the oil which I actually have up there. I don't know if you guys can see that right there that little ore right there but um, that is the uh Rosemary mint. Strengthening oil and there was a whole kerfuffle on Tick Tock about this particular oil being kind of picked up by white people, and you know now being sold out now. I am going to Center my next comments in the fact that I am not living in an environment that doesn't have a lot of black people like there are tons of black people in Toronto. People what's happening here. Okay, sorry about that, I can find it in Walmart. I can find it. You know in the pharmacy like it's here, which is amazing, like that is something that was not always the case here in Toronto, but I do understand that there are areas in the U.S that are not populated, that populated by you know black people or people with Textured, hair, and so if everybody is selling out or buying out this particular product, then those who truly need it won't have access to it and that truly is problematic, so um. On that end, I do feel for people now. I don't know how far that feel for people piece kind of extends, because they're still Amazon and like Amazon is something that you know is even more accessible in the US than it is here in Canada and across the world. And so I saw a lot of like Tick. Tock is very us-based. I will say that um and I saw a lot of commentary coming from us-based influencers about how problematic it was that you know members of the white Community are buying out this particular product. Now, from a purely business perspective, don't you want people to buy out the product like that's what I would think. I would think that if you create a product, you want it to sell out right. That would be the point like you're not making a product because you don't want it to sell. So I mean my feelings are kind of on the fence. But when I lean into like you know, just my understanding of like business and like what's logical and reasonable, bearing in mind that I am a lawyer, so my mind, just naturally goes to what's logical and reasonable and what is the fundamental point of whatever it is That we're talking about the fundamental point of my own Organics is to make money, so this kind of bleeding, in of like you know, black businesses should be focused on. You know um social justice issues like yes, that's true, but at the end of the day the fundamental purpose of a business is to meet money. So I'm gon na hop into the comments. I see there's a lot of comments on this TJ says: I'm truly, not that mad at it. Sorry, I'm truthfully truthfully, I'm not really mad at it. I don't really use her products anyways, but the job of a business is to make money exactly that's how I feel as well too, which is why I didn't really engage in the commentary here on fine natural hair rocks, like that was a very intentional Choice. A very intentional decision, because I just I like that's the point like you - don't create a business for the purpose of charity like. If you wanted to create a charity, then you would create a non-profit organization right like that's what you would do um and if you're creating a business, then you're creating a business. If it's for profit, it's for profit, it's literally in the name. It'S for profit, um TJ also says sometimes as a woman of Type 4 hair. I do find it frustrating when people who don't have time for your type, 4 hair or buy the product meant for me. I know that sounds a bit silly. Yes, so you know what like, if I'm understanding this correctly TJ you're, saying that you find it frustrating that people are buying the product, that's Meant For Your Type 4 hair um that don't have Type 4 hair and that part is a little asinine. I agree with you. I think that it's problematic to go out and purchase a whole ton of this product that you don't need necessarily need. Now. That'S consumerism like on the part of like whether people should be doing that. I disagree with it. I don't think they should like if the product's not meant for you like it's just not like. Let'S call a spade a spade, the product is not meant for European textured hair, it's not right um. So that part, if I was living in an area that is remote, is you know the majority of the population is white? I can't find hair products for the life of me. It'S expensive to use Amazon to you know get the products to me then. Yes, I would be pissed, but um, you know and, and those people I think, have a a legitimate concern. But still like I Amazon is free. They'Ve got free shipping and I think it's like I don't know about worldwide, but I can speak to us and Canada that it's like generally, you can pay for Amazon, Prime and get free shipping, so I mean yeah like I'm on the fence there too, because like
