DESCRIPTION

Today Greg Berzinsky shows us how to style a loose curl handlebar mustache using our Temple Smoke Mustache Wax, a hair dryer, and a half inch round brush. After you are done styling your beard make sure your beard is still wet, use the brush to roll the hair under while pulling it in the direction of the curl. Part of it is practice, but some of it is just the way your hair grows. If your hair grows toward the middle, you'll want to use the hair dryer to push the hair outward for both branches of your mustache.

Now you have the general shape of a loose handlebar 'stache, so we can move on the curl. You'll now want to use the brush to go over your hairs and curl up on the ends, using the hair dryer as needed. As you are rolling up you'll also want to pull out to get the curls going in the direction you want them to go.

You can leave your mustache as is. You've created a wave set using a round brush and hair dryer to achieve a natural curl. Not everyone hair grows that way though. Some grow straight down, so that was all to get it going in the right direction before we moved on. We're gonna take it a step further, and solidify the shape, by using Temple Smoke Mustache Wax. The scent isn't overbearing and it's a great smell to have underneath your nose as the day goes on.

Next, you'll want to heat up the wax using the hair dryer and apply it directly to your mustache. A liberal amount on the curl, and underside of the mustache, and a little bit on top will ensure it all stays in place and keeps its shape. If you want to put your curls in a certain direction, you can use a comb.

The wax will dry, set, and leave you with loose curls on a handlebar mustache. The whole process is usually pretty quick, but you can play around with balance and symmetry to achieve the look you want. You even go to a longhorn style or have a tighter curl by pulling on your ends, or holding it in place and setting it using a hair dryer, respectively.

The curls don't always have to be equal, sometimes it's nice to just leave them a little off-center. But if you're going out of the night, want to make a statement, or are competing, then a little candle wax or Elmer's glue can help get them into perfect curls.

As always, it's easier to watch something than reading this description. It's only 6 minutes long and gives a timeless styling option.

Hello, this is Greg Berzinsky for Beardbrand and today I'm going to show you how to style a handlebar mustache.. So today I want to show you how I style a handlebar mustache.. There are many ways to do. That., You can do very tight shapes, smaller curls, wider long horn style, looser brush down tons of ways., And I do all of them. If you check out my instagram. You'll, see I've worn my handlebar mustache many ways. Today, I'm going to show you how to do a looser curl with the aid of a wax., I'm using a Beardbrand wax and the Temple Smoke.. I do this with a hairdryer in round brush in the future tutorial I'll, show you how I style my handlebar mustache without a hairdryer as I'll show you how I style my beard without a hairdryer., But for today I'm going to use a trusty hairdryer and a Half inch round brush to set the style and then we'll apply the wax. So with the aid of a brush. What I'm going to do is my mustache is wet beard's dry., So styled your beard already and now you're going to do your mustache. So with wet hair. What I'm going to do is roll the hair under while pulling it in the direction of the curl, and you can see already it starts to set the style just by doing that.. Part of that is probably a little bit of training, and part of that is the way your hair grows. Everyone's hair grows differently. Mine tends to grow in the sweep this direction. This way it actually grows in this way.. So I need to use the hairdryer to push it out that way., So that basically parts the center and that doesn't take care of the curls itself. So that rolls my mustache under in the direction of the wave and what I'm going to do is use the hairdryer now to actually I've been curling it under and pulling out now I'm going to actually roll it up on the end, You might have noticed that, While I'm rolling it up., I'm also pulling it out to get the curls in the direction that I want them to go.. So you could actually leave your mustache like this. No product in it. A little bit of wave set natural curls., Some guys mustaches do that. Naturally. Mine doesn't, as I said, tend to actually grow down in a Walrus fashion, as it's been pointed out in the comments or in a Schnauzer fashion.. So I need to add that sweep to get it going.. So now I'm going to take Temple Smoked. Mustache wax., Really love the scent of this.. It'S great to have that a little bit of scent underneath your nose, it's not overwhelming, and it's actually my favorite scent the Temple Smoke. And what I do. Some guys take a little bit off, rub it in their hands, warm it up Since I'm using a hairdryer. What I do is, I take the hairdryer. And I warm it up and I apply it directly. While it's warm to the hair and I'm putting a liberal amount on the curl and then to the underside of the mustache and a little on the top. And then taking a comb, I can actually comb it in the direction that I want it to go.. Then the moustache wax will set it'll, get a little harder and basically that's it.. So let me do the other side. Heating, the moustache, wax up again. And applying directly to the curl, with the warm mustache wax underside of the mustache and a little on the top. The most on the curl itself., So, basically, that's how I do it and you can saw it didn't, take a lot of time check it., You know, get a little closer and want to go out of focus here., But looking for balance and symmetry, and things like That you can play around., Actually don't want it to be super perfect. All the time.. I think it's okay to have one side, looking slightly different., If you're in competition. Obviously you want them perfect and if you're going out in the evening Or if you want to make a big statement, you want to get them perfect.. But with this method, if you pull the hair out and not curl, you can actually get more of a long horn, look. With a tighter curl and actually holding this and then setting it with a hairdryer. You can get tighter. Guys in competition actually use products beyond wax., They actually add candle wax to the moustache wax or they'll use. Glue. Elmer'S glue is popular in the competition set for actually setting moustache.. I can talk about that in the future. Video., I'm going to show you how that's done, but for now That's how I do my handlebar moustache. So until next time people beard on. Now that you done with this video head over to our shop and treat yourself to some fine Beardbrand products.. If you're already a subscriber be sure to hit that button and keep on watching some more of our awesome videos,

Derek Johnson: I'm 15 and I have 0 facial hair whatsoever. I have no clue why I am watching this, but this guys hair looks amazing

Ranx Xerox: I'm 2-3 months into my beard, god I wish I had taken pictures each week. Thanks for inspiring me to continue growing my beard, I'm currently going past the I don't know what to do stage, but now looking at your videos - THERES PLENTY I CAN DO. Thanks for the inspiration Greg!!!

Drumsdrone.: Great advise. Ive been watching your videos for a while, along with cut and grind videos, and I've decided to give a beard a go myself. After 2 months growth, it looks like I'm going to have the same colouring in my beard and stash as you. We are a the same age, but unfortunately, my head hair has left long ago. Hopefully in the months/years to come, I will have a beard to match yours, and if I'm down near London anytime in the future, as I live in the UK, I will pop into Cut and Grind and get a beard trim.

D.I.Y. Hair Cuts: This guy is a professional mustache curler

Matthew Anthrax: There are playboys but this guy is a playman.

Sketchtown666: This helped me a lot, I've been doing the handle bar for a while but was having trouble keeping the sides even.

Martin HUGHES: I'm just starting out a Handlebar Mustache ' and you have just helped me with getting the curl Greg . Spot on thank you.

SACHIN SHARMA: I had my mustache (lamb-chops) going all the way down and up toward my ears from last five years, people used to have selfies with me...but recently changed to curly mustache only, loved your style mate, learning new tips from ya

Thomas Crutchfield: Gorgeous Thanks for the quick lesson and I sincerely appreciate it and the inspiration

Ryloth Lekku: Berzinsky!!! You rock dude! Surprised again to see him using a plastic styling brush opposed to a boars bristle styling brush to take care of those gorgeous hairs, but hey, at least he's using a handmade comb! Awesome work this week beardbrand with the videos! This daily vid thing came along at the same time my barber maestro offered me a chair at the shop! Still an apprentice, but now I'm a full time apprentice

Kevin Wright: This is a thing that's coming back thank god, I decided to do the handlebar moustache a couple days ago I have a long way to go. I have to say that back in the 1800s this was a thing of stature and class. Cannot wait to see what I can create

shahrukh zaid: This guy is too cool.Salt & Pepper hair. Amazing beard , moustache , hair !! Excellent brand Ambassador for beard brand. He would give younger models a run for their money !!

Ralph Dennis: Huge help! Great tutorial! Thank You!!!

Rob: Nice video, I think moustaches are cool things especially when you have one without a beard. I think having a moustache completely on it's own without the beard is pretty cool

Grady Smith: Whoa I have never seen a mustache wax like that. I love the idea of a "gluestick" to make for easier application.

Scomae: Hey, thanks for the tips! I used to trim my mustache for my girlfriend, she doesn't like it when it's to long. I want to let it grow but i understand what bothers her. Would you have any advices to "style" my 'stache in a way kisses would still be possible? :D See ya!

Wesablo: Awesome, very informative - thanks a lot!

Collin Dow: For handlebars that are more than a half-inch curl, I have found that actually "rolling" or "twisting" the mustache from the inside and up and out, instead of under works better. if you roll it under, many times people's curls actually fold forward like tusks. by rolling it backward, it helps the curls to lean more towards your face instead.

Drew Hawken: Wow, great video Greg! Have be fighting my stash lately and this will help lots!

T L: I’m 21 and I’ve been growing my mustache out for the last 6 months and I’ve probably got half of what this guys has... geez I’ve got a long road ahead of me.

Okami Amaterasu: Dude. Your beard is beautiful. I started leaving mine grow and I hope it looks half as good as yours.

Robby LeBlanc: thank you! This was exactly what I needed!

Tony Crofts: Hi. I've had my handlebar for months but never had it professionally trimmed. Only ends trimmed off occasionally. I use wax and often struggle with symmetry. Any tips?

Mark Hoffman: I'm not a big fan of a curled stache with a big beard. But, I have to say yours looks really great. I'll try it. Thx

Peter Hughes: Thank you Greg for this video, it is really helpful. Also I love your Mustache

: hello guys! just a question, i have a quite new handlebar moustache and a beard (which looks awsome, i must confess) and i've been following your tips to keep them healthy and nice. as i said, this look is fairly new (about 4 months old) and what i notice is although i use mustache wax, the curly part always have some unruly hairs that go in different directions. i think it is not very noticeable at a distance, but when im looking at the mirror i cant help not to obsess over them. is it normal, will those hairs "get in order" as soon as they are longer, maybe my wax isnt strong enough, should i trim them...? and congrats on your video series, they are amazing, honestly!

Ziggyswimsalot: When you use the blow dryer, what heat setting is it on? Thank you! Loved the video

Philip Uren: Ok, that looks awesome. But I've only got 6 weeks growth so too short to shape into something graceful yet but long enough to be messy and edging towards tea-strainer length. Looks like Greg's taken a few decades to establish his mighty-oaks. Do you have any vids for us newbies and how long till I can expect sufficient length to get some shape? Cheers.

AH: Thank you Greg! I enjoy all your beard videos. God Bless you!

ChubbyChub: Where did you find a hairdryer that sounds like that?

Justin Allen: Beautifully done. My mustache and beard is a little more unruly than yours. Every hair grows in a random zigzag pattern that takes a lot to control. A hair dryer and wax isn't quite enough for me to get a well styled mustache. I often have to use a small (the smallest available) flat iron to put enough of a curl into it so that I can then control the rest of the curl with wax. One other quick note, having your mustache be significantly darker than your beard (I would do anything to have a white beard) makes it stand out beautifully on your face. Mine is all random variations on brown so that even when I do get my mustache to curl properly, it's barely noticeable (I'm too worried to try and trim my beard in a a way that would make my mustache stand out more.

Kyle Knoblauch: I use a combination of hair glue and hair putty in my mustache, takes about 10-15 minutes to get it to hold how I like, but it'll stay tight all day

Oliver Joshua Jacob: very informative. Thanks, Greg.

Bobby: great tutorial! I've been growing my mustache back out

Daryl Cline: Just ordered the mustache wax and mentioned your name on the comment section. The product has great reviews, so I’m pretty stoked to try this out!

Steve Kizewic: Good stuff. I haven't used the round brush in the direction you used it. Can't wait to try that this morning!

MoustacheSkeleton: Thanks for the curler idea. Made things a bit cleaner.

Rusty Shackleferd: Thank you so much man this helped me so much

Matthew Collins: Thanks for the video Greg! love your style

Derek Wildash: Great classic look. Well done dude.

Stache_Lord: Do you have any special advise for guys like myself who naturally grow a two piece? Literally no hair grows in the center of my upper lip

Black Forest: Just curious. I have rather wirey moustache, and it is hard to keep it looking good. Any hints?

Дм С: Спасибо за гайд!

ElleRoni: Fuckin aspirational my man, your earlier vids finally got me down the road of actually grooming and styling my beard and 'stache

capie44: Thank you for taking the time and for having a plain backdrop.

Михаил Елисеев: Чувак, классные у тебя усы, Присматривал себе новый стиль, отращиваю себе теперь такие же , лайк тебе, спасибо!!!!

mikhail sungurov: How many months does it take to grow a moustache like that? I can grow a very solid moustache but I've never grown it out for more than 2 months.

Sacha Walker: I'm a trainee barber trying to master this look.Thank-you so much for the tips. dapper_gent_barber

Kevin Hoeg: great suggestions ... trying to shape my mustache to a handle bar. I have a goatee as well...letting it grow longer. Any suggestions / tips on shaping it

Ras Ibby: Good job you make it look easy

Bryant Barboza: How long does it take you to grow your moustache long enough?

Slowro: Thanks, been growing out my mustache since last March and trying to figure out how to keep it out of my mouth! Gotta find something that will actually hold.

James Bond: You can tell this guy was made for this style mustache

tressy92: I of course have no facial hair, but I sat myself through this entire video learning a skill I'll never use---because he looks so good.

mikeyb byekim: 3:05 earned some respect right there displaying some dry humor. love it I didnt realize so much work and effort went into beards and mustaches, or the whole package in general..

Lifted Adventures: Ok so how do i grow this from beginning to end? i have the stach and beard but not the length to pull this off yet. Any videos yall suggest to show from my stage to the end result?

Shivvie: I will never grow a beard (frankly because I am of the female gender haha) but I gotta say damn that moustache looks so cool! I clicked on this video cause frankly I was curious how men do that and didn't really how much time you have to put into it :0

Andrew R: Man, I hope I look half this good when I’m in my 50’s!

Teslicles: Great video! By the way, you could serve on that way we got going on in your hair! All in all a great look!

Marek Porwol: Great tutorial!

Casey Bledsoe: I'm fortunate enough to have a natural handle bar mustache. However, I will still use this because there is always room for improvement

Teji Vlogs: Thank you very much it’s really works

TheTrueMac: When you say "hmm...mustache is getting pretty long...maybe I'll go handlebar." and then you search and find this video. Perfect, exactly what I needed. thanks

Dustin Travella: Super helpful, dude has the game locked down.

SamanthaNickole02: My beard can’t wait to look like his! Lol. Same color and thickness. Just need the length. What a blessing...

Fer s: To have the mustache at that length do you just let it grow or is there an specific way to trim it as it grows ?!

Thelma Jane Moseley: I actually enjoyed watching you curl your mustache.

Patrick Seiter: DO NOT follow these instructions if your moustache naturally grows into a handlebar shape! I had a perfectly natural handlebar moustache until I followed the instructions in this video (thinking that I could keep my handlebar in-place without wax or for a longer period of time). Now, my handlebar moustache points FORWARD! It doesn't matter how much I comb, wax, or bend the hairs, the hair refuses to point up but instead out. If you're like me, consider yourself warned!

G C: Nice vid. I need to work on my handlebar skills and this will be a big help. But glue? How do they get it out of the mustache without destroying it?

Ajay Chauhan: You made it much easy Ty sir ji

Th3Sn1ks: i hate this guy because even if he is at least 40 years older than me he looks 40 times cooler

Himanshu Raj: This guy has the best beard ever...I too want this

Chris Battle: one day ill have a beard like yours, for now i have to work with what genetics has given me.

Little Bear: Dear Beardbrand, do I need to trim some of the beard hairs underneath the mustache to separate it from the beard?

WORRO01: Nicely done sir!

Safety Trainer and Assessor: Thanks Greg, great video.

Health is wealth: Best moustache video i have ever seen thanks man

ScottyBoi___: Any advice when it comes to curling with fingers?

WeazyWolf: i must ask as im having an issue with my mustache. the hair under my nose seems to grow down and curls unto my mouth, is there a way i can train the hair to grow to the sides or each day shape it using a technique

B Billy: A lucky man here beard wise- just wanna say you are rocking that beard!!! Maybe in a few years I’ll get that length as well

Alireza Behzadpour: you're a legend dude !

Gnome Beard: Can you use a heat comb to straighten your beard?

Augusto Vera: If you use elmer's glue, is it easy to wash it once dried?

Eddie Murphy: What I tell everyone is to curl and shape, but never twist it. Twisting is the worst.

John Ryan Madrid: That curly mustache is what I want, too bad I can't grow it that much

Marc Melendez: I wonder if u could give me some much needed advice..after over a year i trimmed off an inch of my handlebars. They were 4 inches long. This hurt me to do btw..Problem is the ends were curling on their own.Tried NUMEROUS waxes to no avail. Is this something that is to be expected? Or is there a better method.I like a tight curl, but it was so bad i could never get them symmetrical.Sorry so long but i need guidance lol

Earl Greybeard: Great technique. I will give it a shot and post the results on my channel. Many thanks.

Bill Strahlend: What heat-setting is the blow-dryer set to, Cold, Warm, or Hot?

t0necap0ne88: Your hair looks awesome bro! #beardgang

Zeus Bruh: I legit just shaved and chopped my handle bar mustache off !! ✂️

Will Helliwell: He’s got that sweet Ron Swanson voice. I started growing my moustache at the beginning of lockdown and it’s grown over my lip now. Trying to find a style I want to have a go at

J. C. Delich: I've never owned a round brush in my life.

Joelito: Me with high hopes in learning before.. After the video... Step 1: Get this guy’s godly beard and mustache lmao

deaderthendead041: Im new to this ive tried a couple times before unsuccessfully ti grow a nice handlebar mustache vecause ive always loved the look of it,I have a thick coarse mustache hair which is hard to manage, ive used generic mustache wax from the local cvc but it never holds for longer than an hour and forget a windy day , Can you Tell me what I'm doing wrong and maybe suggest some types of waxes I could use for a more coarse hard to manage type of hair Thank you and great video!

Dany Rochin: Eres el mejor!!!

The Wiseman: If only I could grow something even close to this gentleman. Absolute god-like beard

Eunae Kim: This only works if you also have a beard. About the last person who could successfully pull it off with no beard whatsoever was William Howard Taft way back in the 1910s!

Mugen's channel: My moustache doesn't curl at all. Even with the hairdryer + the wax. It straightens up within minutes. It's about 1 inch long from the corners.

Gregory Cotto: Is it weird that I'm here just to hear his cool calm voice?

Jeet Singh: Hi Greg sir, Really like your videos and am a fan of your Beard and Moustache,, Just wanted ask you that do you ever trim your Moustache or you keep it Raw..Because that looks perfect to me... Kindly reply to this...
