#purpleshampoo

Hey there welcome to my curls. My name is renee and y'all. I got some gray hair and we're going to talk about it today. Today'S video is about purple shampoo. Why do you need it? When do you need to start using it? What does it do for your gray hair? What is my favorite brand and why it is so important if you are going gray or if you have gray hair, if you're in the middle of your gray, hair transition, you need purple shampoo and what is blue, shampoo and why you don't need it. I am gon na lay out all the scoop on purple shampoo. This was an unplanned video did not mean to do this. I had another video that i was going to film today, and so i took a shower fixed my hair, put on makeup to film this other video, but y'all something happened in the shower. Well, let me back up. This is a story before this last night. I was at work and you all know if you've been on my channel, you know that i own an ice cream shop and i have to wear my hair back in a ponytail at work. So last night i was at work and i had not washed my hair in a couple days and it was late at night and i went in the bathroom and i'm washing my hands and i look in the mirror and i'm like. Oh, my gosh, my hair looks horrible. My gray hair looked brown. It just looked like a dirty dingy brown color. I thought oh, my gosh i've got to in the morning before i film. This video take a shower wash my hair and i've got to use my purple balance shampoo. So this morning i jump in the shower to do exactly that and i grab my purple balance shampoo and it is empty. I did not know it was empty. I guess i don't know, maybe the the bottle just felt way heavier. I thought there was shampoo in here y'all. I was in the shower banging this bottle upside down to get enough shampoo out of here to do my hair so that i would look good for my other video and when i'm standing in the shower doing this, and i got out - and i took my hair Out of my t-shirt that i wrapped my hair in and the difference in my hair is so startling i decided i have got to tell you all about this. I get asked all the time about purple balance shampoo. If you're going gray. When do you need to start using it? How do you use it? What is the best brand? What does it do? Why do you need purple shampoo? So today's video is going to answer all of those questions for you. I have never done a video about purple. Shampoo i've talked about it. I tell you that i use it. I'Ve showed you the brand that i use, but i've never actually answered all of your questions about it. So stick with me and that's what i'm gon na do, because my hair is looking really good. Today - and i just used my purple shampoo, so that's exactly what we're gon na talk about if you're new to my channel, my name is renee and i am glad you're here and i have gray hair y'all. I'Ve been going gray, for it is almost two years and let me show you my hair, so that you understand why i need purple shampoo and you just have a little bit of background about my hairdo. I have curly very dark natural hair, and so here it is yeah. I am almost at the end of my gray, hair transition. I just have little teeny brown bits at the bottom. That'S it the last little bits of some colored brown hair and those are going to be gone, probably in the next month or two, and then i will be completely through completely through with my gray hair transition. But you can tell that i have a lot of my natural dark hair. My hair in the middle is naturally dark. The hair in my temples and around my face look at this is stark white. I don't there's really no gray about it. I have black hair and i have white hair. What i do i mean i guess in here that is a little bit gray, but i just have such drastic sections of completely white hair and that white hair over time takes on a yellowy dingy. Dull, look and it just makes my hair overall look. Well, it's the best way to describe it. I don't have a word for just just dull and yuck, and so i use a purple shampoo. Now there are lots of purple shampoos on the market. I have only tried one and i love this brand. I use joyco purple balance shampoo. This is the only brand i have ever tried and let me tell you why my hairdresser betsy recommended this brand to me. She said in her opinion, it does the best job on gray, hair, to get the brassy and the yellow out. There are other brands on the market. Each brand has its own um instructions, uh the joyco purple balance recommends that you leave it on your hair. For one to three minutes, so i got in the shower this morning: got my hair, wet lathered it up with my purple balance shampoo and left it in there about three minutes. I shaved my legs shaved under my arms. You know washed myself and then i rinsed it out so really not a very long time. There are some other brands y'all. You have to leave it in your hair for 15 minutes. I do not have time for that. I am not going to do that. I have been contacted by some other brands wanting me to talk about their product or do product collaborations and when they sent me the information, it's not happening, i'm not going to leave this stuff on my hair for 15 minutes. So that is one reason. I love the joyco, but it just does a fantastic job, and let me show you what this looks like. I don't know if i can get any out. Okay, so purple balance. Shampoo truly is purple shampoo and the purple interacts with your white and makes your white hair bright. That is its sole purpose. The joyco is a very gentle shampoo. It is not a harsh shampoo and i only use the purple shampoo about every three hair washes every three times i wash my hair. Now i only wash my hair every two to three to four days depending on what time of the year it is. Did i get sweaty like? Does it smell, like waffle, cones from being at the ice cream shop? If i look in the mirror, like i did last night and i'm like my hair - looks really bad, then i whip out my purple shampoo. So look at this stuff. It is a snotty slick, purple, shampoo and it it leaves a deposit on your hair. The purple interacts with the white and makes your white hair bright. It is fantastic and in the process, because i have so many different colors of black and gray and white. It just brightens my whole head like instantly the minute i got out of the shower, and i took my hair down out of the t-shirt that i wrap it in. Even when my hair is wet, i see a significant difference. It'S just amazing what this stuff does. So because i'm out, i'm actually headed to amazon right this minute to order myself more because i cannot be out of this, and so i'm going to put a link to the joyco purple balance shampoo in the description box below this video. So you can get it for yourself. I know that joyco also makes a purple balance conditioner, which i have not tried. I love the conditioner that i use um. I just use a regular conditioner for my curls. I don't, i don't feel like. I need a purple balance conditioner, but if you think that you do, i will also put a link to the to the conditioner below this video. So why do you need a purple shampoo, i'm going to tell you what i experience with my gray hair. If i spend a lot of time in the sun, i see that my white hair turns sort of yellow like if i sweat a lot like right now, it's summer time. So i walk my dogs in the morning early because it's so hot and humid here, but still my scalp gets sweaty and that sweat tends to turn my hair kind of a brownish color um. Just things in the air over time will deposit themselves in my hair and just make my hair yucky, and so there are lots of things that cause your gray hair or your white hair to get dingy or in the beautician world. They call it brassy, i'm not a beautician that that term really means nothing to me. I just call it brown yucky dingy yellowy. That is what happens to my white hair, specifically right in here at the temples. Look at that yeah, but that is where i get yucky, and so when my hair is pulled back in a ponytail and all of that white hair really shows itself more. My hair looks really bad when it is yucky when it is dingy and yellow, and so the purple shampoo just erases, all of that. It deposits the purple into your hair, but it just makes my hair bright and i love it now. What about a blue shampoo? I heard about a blue shampoo and i did not understand what the difference was. When do you need purple? When do you need blue? Well, let me tell you if you have gray hair, you do not need blue shampoo, and here is why think about think back to when you were in elementary school, and you learned about the color wheel and the primary colors? Well, blue and yellow make green right. Just like the plant here behind me, so if you put a blue shampoo on your hair that has turned yellow, it is going to turn green. It is going to turn a shade of green, and that is what you do not want. If you have gray, hair and you're in the middle of your gray hair transition, you need a purple shampoo to brighten and whiten your gray and white hair. You do not need blue shampoo, so how often do i use purple shampoo? Well, i should probably use it more often than i do to be honest, because every time i use it, i'm like wow, my hair looks so good and then i just get lazy and don't do it. I don't know what my reasoning is, but i need to be better about it, but i only use my purple shampoo about every three times that i wash my hair and i only wash my hair every three to four days, depending on how yucky and sweaty it Is so yeah, i need to be more diligent with my purple. Shampoo people ask me: when do you need to start using a purple shampoo? I get a lot of comments from people about. They have just started their gray hair transition, they're two months in or three months in and do they need a purple shampoo? My answer is, it is different for everybody, but no, i don't think you need a purple shampoo, in my opinion, until you've got this much gray hair, because it's really there's really no point in it. I mean you can use it. If you want to. There is no harm, but until you have enough white or light gray hair to notice the dinginess in your hair, it's really not going to do anything for you. So if you've got roots this long or you're just a couple weeks in again no harm. But if it's really not helping you it's when you get a good amount of gray and specifically for me when it had a lot of white hair around my face, that is when i knew i needed the purple shampoo. So for me i think i started using it about six or seven months in and it is a staple in my hair. Styling arsenal purple shampoo. So i think i've answered all the questions. When do you need it? Why do you need? Oh, does purple shampoo change? The texture of my hair or my curls, my answer is yes, just a little bit the purple shampoo, maybe just, and i'm just talking slightly slightly makes my hair feel a smidge drier on the day that i use it. So, on the days when i use the purple shampoo, i add to my styling products. I use this paul mitchell. Super cinny mitchell, super skinny serum. It is just a silicone which i know i know people don't recommend putting on curls, but i like this stuff. So i just use a little extra squirt of that on my hair on the days when i use the purple shampoo and it counteracts any little bit of frizzies that i would have, and it kind of adds back and eliminates that dryness. So, yes, maybe i notice a little bit of difference in my hair, but the difference is so slight that i really don't care, because i need the purple shampoo. I love the joyco. It smells really really good. It has a really nice smell. I don't like scented stuff if you've been on my channel for a while. You know that about me it is not an overpowering scent, it's just very mild and very pleasant, and i don't mind it at all. So i highly recommend the joy cold purple balance shampoo. Let me show you around my hair before we get off this video and you can see how much white hair i have and and you'll be able to see for yourself why i need to keep it bright, but here we go, i'm mainly white, i mean, oh, My goodness gracious all right in there. All of this this side seems very dark because i have all of this dark hair hanging, but if you lift it up, it really is white in the temples yeah. So you can tell when i pull my hair back, how much of that white actually shows, and that is why i need the purple balance shampoo, so there it is, there's all the scoop on purple balance shampoo, why you need it? What brand? I recommend. How often do i use it? What does it do to my hair and how to use it? Basically, so i hope i answered all of your questions about purple balance shampoo. This is the brand i use. This is the only brand i have ever tried and i love the joyco. So if you have any other questions for me about purple balance shampoo, just please leave me a comment below and i'll. Let you know so thanks for joining me in the bathroom. For yet again another hair video. So until next time i'll see you later, you

WELCOME TO MY CURLS: UPDATED COMMENT: Just a few minutes after I posted this video, so many of you purchased the purple shampoo on Amazon that Amazon is now SOLD OUT! Wow!!  Currently, JCPenney has the best price on the web. I've updated the links in the description box below the video. JC Penney is offering the liter size for $17.99....and if you enter the discount code it reduces it further to $16 per liter. That's a bargain!!! Just be aware that you will have to pay shipping unless you purchase a minimum amount....so I bought my favorite Clinique facial soap since I'm running low anyway. Gosh....lots of new info but there is it! And.....I did purchase the JOICO PURPLE BALANCE CONDITIONER for myself because I want to give it a try. I'll let you know how it works for me :) If you have different advice about purple shampoo, please share it here so that we can help all of our silver sisters :)

Anna Stewart Cleaver: You have answered so many questions that I have had about going grey naturally! I haven’t gone back to the salon since February due to Covid and have had fun watching my blonde hair turn white. I will never go back to hair dye after using it for 30+ years....Yippee! Take care and thanks for the encouragement.

Christy Stafford: This makes sense. I decorate cakes on occasion. When I need a bright white icing that I have made with butter, I've learned to add just a few drops of purple good color to make the yellow in the butter become bright white. Works great for white wedding cakes.

Aurora DeJesus: I’m into 1 year with no dye. It’s very hard to get use too. I feel older than what I am. Videos like this helps me to stay positive . Your hair is sooo beautiful. Thanks you

Donna H: My hair started going gray at age 29. I colored it for years but went gray several years ago. It is white, straight, very thin and stringy. I always hated my hair so I started wearing a hairpiece on top where it is the thinnest. It gives me a much better look.

Cindy Kennedy: I have been going grey since my late thirties, and white since my mid to late forties. I was dying my hair until my mid fifties. It was beginning too be expensive. Now I use l'oreal purple shampoo. It is the best one I tried, I did try several different brands.

Olive O'Sudden: I've got long, fine, white/silver/grey/brown 2c-3b hair. My favourite violet shampoo and conditioner are Light Blue Shade. Very moisturizing, have a subtle and pleasant fragrance, and are quite inexpensive. It's a Canadian brand, and is available in stores and online in Canada, and online from a few sources within the U.S.

JaN uK: Hey girl, good to see you I always use a silver shampoo, I have used the purple but my hair seems to do better with the silver

Mary Ellen Thompson: Your hair is so beautiful. I wish my hair would go gray completely already. I’m still brown with gray streaks. And your curls are beautiful as well. Gray and curly. I’m jealous!

Arlene Suurd: I went through my grey transition last year.My hairdresser said to buy the purple shampoo and start using right away. I love it.

AL LP: I appreciate you taking the time to do this video. My hair is very similar to yours in color and curl, and I too like Joico. Have you tried Joico Color Butter in Titanium? It's a tinted conditioner that brightens the white-silver and deepens the darker hair. If I'm feeling like I want an even bigger boost than the purple shampoo I use it. I also like Biolage's purple shampoo as it's more moisturizing than the Joico shampoo.

Terry Ciavola: Hi Renee! Thank you for all the info! Really helpful! Going to get some Joico. I love your little white curl in the front. Your hair looks beautiful! Stay safe and enjoy August!

Douglasville Darling: You have convinced me to keep my grey. My grey grew out during covid and I have been hating my dyed hair. Looking at it I noticed my hair looks much thicker where I have not colored it. I think I will use the purple conditioner instead of the shampoo because my hair is very porous, dry, frizzy naturally so I co-poo. I am with you regarding the Skinny Serum! Because my hair is porous I can't go without it. A must have! Your hair is GORGEOUS! Thanks for your videos

Diana: I love your curly grey hair! I am also letting my curly grey hair grow out and I am almost there!

Martine McClean: Great video Renee and your hair is looking so beautiful! I'm 5 months in to my transition and have been using the L'Oreal purple shampoo for the last month. I use it once a week and find it really good. The older male salesperson who sold me the shampoo advised using a dark colored towel when using the purple shampoo as he once got in trouble with his wife for using a white towel LOL so that's what I do! I will try your brand once the L'Oreal is finished :)

Michelle B: Thank you for the info. I'm a gray curly too! The back of my head is nearly pure white and I have accidentally turned that area visibly purple with Joico's Color Endure Violet shampoo, while my more salt and pepper hair around the front looked just fine! I'll have to compare it with what you recommend.

Linda W: I prefer the lavender tone conditioner. It doesn’t deposit so much color on the hair, and I can use it every time I wash my hair. Right now I’m using Redken Blondage. Rusk also makes a lavender conditioner, Deepshine Platinum X.

Renee HeKnowsMyName: I love the salt and pepper look!!! Can't wait for mine to start looking more grey!

Suzanna BobannaFofanna: I’ve been coloring my hair with henna for years and have solid grey and white under it all. I’ve be considering letting grow out natural. You look amazing.

Britta Roth: Hey Renee, I just stumbled over your video! So thankful I found your channel! I am in the middle of transformation from a real red haired to white/grey. A few inches red (colored) hair is left but the white looks strange to me. I am going to try your shampoo and I was surprised that I can buy this brand in Germany as well! So glad about that! Your hair looks absolutely great! Thanks for your advice. sending my best regards from Germany, Britta

Audra G: Hello. Great video and thank you so much for bringing attention to this issue. Do you think hair texture / porosity will make a difference on how well the purple shampoo will or will not work? Tried one and nothing changed.

pulpfix Xation: We do love growing our grays! Freedom!

Cindy LoPresto: Thank you for doing this video. I got grey hair after it came back from chemo & have dyed it because I didn’t know about this shampoo. It wasn’t long enough to be cut, but I didn’t want the dingey hair at not even being 50 yet. I wish I had seen your video earlier, but now I know by the time it gets a decent length, I can have nice grey.

LDSweetZs Photography: I use wenn purple shampoo on my hair over 10 years. It’s amazing for my gray and purple I have in my hair. I wash my hair every 3 days.

silver_ phoenix: Love a good purple shampoo. . .current one my hair does really well with is from CVS by Marc Anthony purple shampoo & they have a purple conditioner as well. Glad I found your channel. . .great info!

bob2cleo2: great video! I used purple shampoo on my blonde-gone-bland hair when I had heavy highlights. Same issue... the highlights turned brassy yellow over time, so the purple shampoo kept them more on the white blonde or "cool" side of highlights. As I've aged (56) my natural color has darkened to a light brown, so I'm growing out my highlights and hoping my gray will come in more as natural highlights.

Dianne Porter: Great video! I am 20 weeks growing out my grey. I bought L'Oreal shampoo and conditioner a few weeks ago and have been wondering when to start using it. My grey is not showing any signs of yellowing at this stage but the dyed hair is really faded with an orange tone. My research says to use blue shampoo for orange tones and purple for yellow. So what do I do? If I use blue on my grey hair it will turn green. Will purple shampoo change the colour of my faded dyed hair? May be I just wait till I'm fully transitioned before I use purple shampoo?

l u n a l i g h t s: Love the video! I am trying a purple shampoo for the first time today. I agree about that dingy color Grey hair can get. My hair is very curly too and dark brown. And my grey’s like to stick straight up.

Midsouth Homestead: I grew my hair color out. It is curly too. Now it is getting brassy. I will give this a try. Your hair is BEAUTIFUL! RHONDA

D Love of God: I transitioned to grey a few years ago & had all color trimmed off. I later decided to cut my hair short. You have beautiful curls & think hair. My hair is fine and has absolutely no curls whatsoever . I didn't gave yellowing issues until I moved & have well water. My goodness i need purple shampoo regularly!

Kristine: Hi, Renee! I absolutely love all of your videos! You are a wonderful presenter! I have to admit, though, I scan every single one looking for a section on Pollux - I am such a fan girl for him!

Sneaker Sheik: This video is timed so perfectly in my life, because I literally JUST got some purple shampoo and am wondering if I’m using it correctly—seemed my hair was looking less bright-now I know why! Thank you for all the great info! Oh, can you tell me if you can use the purple shampoo every shampoo, or is that bad for your hair color or texture?

Anna Burns: Another gray hair blogger said that clarifying her hair also helps to brighten her gray. Everyone really needs to clarify. We get build up on our hair from minerals in the water, and silicones and other ingredients in our hair products. A good clarifying wash every other week or every month is good for all hair. Just ordered the purple shampoo.

Linda Pearson: I was thrilled when you mentioned using purple shampoo. My white is white in the front, but the rest of my hair looked like I had a lot of blond hair. My natural hair is a brown color, use to be blond. I tried your shampoo and my white, white turned grey. Now all my hair looks like a dull grey. I set my timer and left it in three minutes. Wonder if purple works only for those with closer to black hair? Would it help if I try it again? You are blessed with your beautiful hair. I have loose curls, but baby fine hair looks thin, when I leave it natural. I use rollers to make it look thicker! Love your blog. I come away feeling happier! Thanks a million! A month later, I now wash my hair with regular shampoo, then I put my white hair in small rollers around face. I use Joico on the rest of my hair...Now my white is white. Problem solved!

Linda Sgambati: Thanks Renee, great video, as always. And your hair looks great! Do you think I could get the same benefits from using the purple conditioner? I would just find it easier to keep the conditioner on longer than the shampoo. TIA

Sonshineresellers: Wow, just found you last night. I’m 56 and I’ve never heard of purple shampoo. Your hair and curls look amazing! My hair is naturally wavy to curly and dark brown but my gray is starting to come in pretty strong in my side burns and sides of my head. I am sensitive to most shampoos and soaps so I hope I can find a brand that I can use. Thanks for the great info. And I’ll be watching:)

Charlotte Victoria. Hubbard: I started using Pro-Voke Touch of Silver. Brightening shampoo and Intensive conditioner. For Blonde, Grey and Silver hair. It as made such a difference. They also do one for coloured hair.

Ossie R: I’m with you on scents. I prefer unscented or very lightly scented.

A.K.A. Mom: My hair was looking lackluster. Can see a BIG improvement with first time use. Thank you for the good advice.

Valentina: Thank you so much, Renée, for posting so regularly--it's a real treat! (Especially as I'm one video behind in terms of commenting--so here goes: one fun fact about me is I speak four languages: English, French, Spanish, and Japanese.) Your hair looks amazing! I have a question: When is the tipping point when it makes sense to go gray and look great? I'm 55, and only near my hairline is my hair grey--so I'm still dying it brunette (I do so myself at home with L'Oréal ). Wondering when I might make the jump and join the club.

Gregjo: Great video. Question: How soon to begin using purple shampoo on early stages of graying hair. I’m a brunette and mt edges around my face is white, and starting to have streaks throughout.

Tim Z: Trying to hide gray is a losing battle. It's like trying to stop aging. You can't do it. Just enjoy life and accept that your aging like all of us.

Lorna Pinkoff: Dumb Blonde (by TIGI) purple shampoo also works very well; but, as you say, a bit drying. A good conditioner or leave in treatment helps.

Helen Ann Dunn-Lummus: When I showed dogs we always bathed any dog with white fur or fur patches with a blue shampoo. Any other color will tinge the white/gray a dingy color. You don't need a specific brand of shampoo, but you do need a specific color of blue or purple if you don't want a yellow cast to your hair.

Sylvie Dionne: What impeccable timing, I just looked at purple shampoo in my local grocery store last night I'm not that far along in my transition but my white parts are like yours, very white and concentrated at my temples and around my face. I'm a copper redhead and I'm afraid purple shampoo will really affect the red parts negatively I look terrible with a blueish red colour (bad dye job taught me that once!) Guess I'm just going to have to put on my big girl pants, try it and see what happens!

Miranda Brooks: Stop banging an empty bottle. Simply put a bit of water in it shake it around and pour it out. You'll get a lot of shampoo.

anita hargreaves: Dyed nine nutrisse blonde, covered grey. Yours looked great Your hair looks great. Blonde covers grey and blue shampoo used and wishing haircurky. I am 51

Erin Mcc: Hi Renee, not sure how it happened but a couple of days ago one of your videos showed up in my recommendations. I love your videos, your amazing dogs and beautiful family. Thanks for posting such amazing and uplifting videos and sharing your life.

Ossie R: I use Shiny Silver Ultra Conditioning Shampoo(my fav) and I’ve tried Clairol Shimmering Lights.

kitty love: I've been using Joico Color Balance Shampoo for about a year. My hair was completely white. I leave it on for about 5 minutes 3-4 times a week, though I shampoo daily. I now have a light lavender color and love the way it looks ‼️ My hair is thin and fine and the shampoo does not dry it out.

TheSlacky775: I have been grey since I was 14 , I am pretty much white now I am 45 , what I find amusing is that now I get asked all the time how/where I have had my dye job done lol. I have short shaved hair , my older sister has only started to go grey over the last 10 years or so but she is still in the dyeing her hair dark faze she has hair very similar to yours but its got to the point now that the dyeing is killing the curl in her hair but she is in denial about the grey . As I went grey/ white so young I just never really cared about it, I am not saying I never dyed it, but I did that more for fashion than because I was bothered about the color . I have used the purple shampoos a few times but I never really notice a difference in the color it just made my hair dry .

ProgressiveHeart: My SO has gorgeous salt and pepper hair. Mainly salt. I’ll have to get this shampoo for him. I have grey (since I was 15), but not nearly as much as he does.

Debbie Farner: I use and love "the generic" brand at Sally's beauty supply. I use the shimmer lights generic and I have amazing results, save money too, the other days I use Zotos All About Curls. I buy the Paul Mitchell tea tree oil in "the generic" brand for my husband and sons. They have psoriasis and dry skin, this is great.

Tawnya Johns: Finally added the purple shampoo. I’m 57 days into my current attempt to leave color behind. Last year I made it 300 days. I hope the purple helps me make it longer! Thanks for sharing your secrets.

Elizabeth Hoops: Your hair is so beautiful! Thank you for all the info!

Devon Nalta: my grandma has used it for years she swears by it! She uses a different brand but she loves it.

Ayleen Pereyra: What other products do you use to keep your hair from freezing?

Sarah K: Thanks for the great tip I'm embarking on my grey hair journey after developing a nasty allergy to hair dye.

Dani Charbs: Even though I have 3 hair color products in the bath pantry I decided to go grey when I started watching your channel ( WE adopted a dog from the shelter (Pollux). I'm a smoker and noticed my almost white bangs were yellowish and daughter (hairdresser) told me that's nicotine MOM! Use Purple shampoo like I tell my smoker clients . I use L'oreal Purple Sulfate Free shampoo and Viola my bangs are white again !

A.K.A. Mom: Haven't been to see my stylist since March. Just made the comment to my husband that I hated how my hair looks. No life, drab. Ordered both shampoo & conditioner. Thank You.

Loretta Bray: I love to use the purple shampoo too. It really brightens my hair.

Thermal Vibes: Your curls are goals!!! I just big chop because o want to start embracing my greys. I love your grey curls. I believe this is how l curls will be once they grow. I can’t wait. I wish this shampoo didn’t have sulphates. I try to avoid sulphate a but thinking of getting it and using it when I want to clarify.

girl in a box: Ooooooh. I had no idea you had to leave the shanpoo in your hair for a few minutes before washing out. I've been using the regular Jhirmark and it just says matter and rinse. The conditioner, same brand, says leave on for 2 minutes. A lot of ppl in my grey hair Fb group says they use regular shampoo OR wen and then purple conditioner. Or they just use the purple conditioner and scalp wash with it? They say the purple shampoo is harsh.

Cindy Perez: Love your hair and videos. What do you do with your hair when you go to sleep and don't wash it the next day? Ponytail or just loose?

Judy's Bakery and Test Kitchen: I don’t need to keep my purple shampoo on for any length of time. I use the generic at Sally (cheaper than Clairol) and Clairol purple conditioner. I don’t recommend using it every time because my hair did turn purple after a while. It looked nice I guess. My hairdresser thought I was coloring my hair purple I find I don’t need any of that during lockdown. Some thing about the sun. I’m glad you mentioned the color wheel, because that’s one of the purple works. It’s the opposite of yellow For pulling your hair back, I highly recommend getting silk scrunchies.

Tammy Cate: So enjoyed this video so timely for the season of life I'm in.

Michele Kilic: You have gorgeous hair I just love your curls. I’ve been watching you ever since you adopted Pollux l look Forward to watching all your videos...

Sue Humphreys: You are so cute! Love your videos! Question, is your hair cut in layers? I have curl hair but not springy curls like yours, mine is more of a soft ringlet. I let it grow out of a short cut designed to bring my curl out and now it is all one length at the shoulders. I am ready to go back to a curly look but don't want to loose the length.

Pauline Simpson: Thanks for the info. You answered all my questions. I wish I found your video earlier.

Jamina Vazquez: Your hair looks so beautiful and healthy!! And you do not need makeup, you really are blessed with natural beauty. If you could make a video sharing your skin care that would be nice.

Tammy Giacometti: Purple shampoo gets the “brassiness” out of blonde hair too.

Elke Ahokas: Very informative thank you

Mimi Stout: I just ordered my purple shampoo and conditioner from JcPenneys (haven't purchased anything from them in a long time) but I'm excited to get it and start using it!! I'm 8 months in this journey of going gray and so far so good! Thank you for this video I really appreciate all the info.!! Your hair is gorgeous and I hope my hair turns out looking as good as yours....stay safe and stay healthy. :-)

SM Potts: Oh, Renee' Your hair looks shimmery! Even the dark hair looks bright! Your whole head looks shimmery! My dear mom lived with me and I spent most of my time making her happy when I retired. She attended directed socialization classes 4 days a week, and We got up at 7AM to get her ready and to class ten minutes away by 10AM. She loved it . When she was 4, she lost 3 sisters, ages 7, 8, and 6 months in 2 years. She and her older sisters had Scarlet Fever, and her baby sister's diagnosis was pneumonia. My mom had a fever of 107°, but recovered with no side effects. She was NEVER sick. So I made sure she looked beautiful her and her last years were fun filled. Of course, it didn't leave much time for me to get fixed up. I used to say I looked like her paid companion. I didn't care. Anyway, Renee' I used that purple shampoo on my mom! She had snowy white hair, but it would gedull, too. I noticed certain shampoos seemed to make her hair kind of yellow, also. I found if I left the lather kind of purple, her hair would look more silvery, which was beautiful. And if I took sections and rubbed the hair vigorously between my palms until the lather turned white, her hair looked like snow with the sunshine on it! I loved that stuff. She had this weird, wiry hair at her temples , about a 4 inch patch. She had a bob and no matter what, I could not get it to stay straighter and it made the front of her hair not curve or lay nicely. Did I mention I was retired? Uh-huh. I used to straighten my hair years ago. So i found a straightening kit for kids. So, I tried it. I was careful of her skin, and it worked, but in the process it turned that hair NEON yellow. My mom was NOT in front of a mirror. But I used some drugstore hydrogen peroxide and it took the yellow completely out, thank God.

Black Berry lady: Girl, I lives with purple grey 4 years...ur hair is Extremely Outstanding beautiful....I uses shimmering purple

Cynthia Gonzales: Thank you!! Into 3 months so I use a lot of argon shampoo and conditionerfor now. I see my grey hair shiny with white and silver so I'm gona just let it go girl. I'm 63 so I'm done wirh hair color!!

Michelle Bilodeau: I honestly love your channel. Not just about your dogs but I like watching you cook cuz I love to cook too and I'm going to try some of your recipes. Keep up the good work on your channel, it's fun.

ruth lindahl: Thank you for such an informative video. I needed to know this.

Teri Coulter: It would have been so nice to have a before and after pic. Thanks for the info.

chante brown: If my hair smelled like waffles cones I’m not sure I would be upset

Laura J: I'm so lost...most of my hair is white and curly. I struggle with my hair getting yellow. I am fully transitioned, it was recommended to me to try a toner...yeah..that ruined my hair. It has washed out, somewhat, now I look like a mix of champagne blond and white. I have tried so many purple shampoos, including the Joico. Frustrated beyond belief! Your hair is stunning!!!

Eirini: Thank you, this was very helpful. My question is: What about purple conditioner?

Ossie R: I have only tried a couple of brands from Target. I’ve tried some Joico conditioners but not the purple shampoo. I’ll try it.

Jewel Haines: Hi Renée! I love your hair! I am just wondering..have you ever flat ironed your hair, to wear it super straight?? I was just wondering!! Give Pollux and little Mooie a kiss from me!! Love your channel!!❣❣

Shelley Alexander: My dyed brown hair has red in it and I use blue shampoo to tone down the redness.

christy nall-mathis: Just was wondering what shampoo do you use in between your purple shampoo days?

Robin Mah: Interesting. I read that purple shampoo is for blondes going gray and the blue is for brunettes. I have used the Joico blue shampoo for 11 months, when I stopped dyeing my hair, and it makes my gray very bright, not green. In fact, I don't need to use it but once every month or so, as I usually have my hair covered if I'm going to be out in the Sun long.

Donna Zivny: I would like a review on the after shampoo products you use. I have very curly hair and find leave in products make my hair look dirty by the next day.

Mandii Graham: Great info. It has prompted me to go back to purple shampoo (& conditioner). Just a thought, if you feel your hair is a bit dry after using purple then maybe you should be using the purple conditioner. After all isn’t that what it’s for.

Whole Food Plant Based Mama: My hair is exactly the same Damn i did not know i had to leave it on my hair. I have very dry hair. Its super curly.

Patty Miller: Hi, I am new to your channel! I'm considering this going gray/white idea... It started with with a few white hairs in High School! I have colored since being in my 30s. ? Do you ever part your hair on the other side? Ever had bangs? And could we see you in a pony tail? Your hair is glorious

Debbie Cooper: Thanks, Renee! Very helpful video!

Five Dee: I'm wondering if it'd lighten a dye job and expose more white hair, to speed up the transition?

Jen Jett: Renee you are beautiful . Love your videos ❤️

sylvia brown: U r so right u should not wash your hair everyday it dries it out I'm in my 70s & I use the purple shampoo & it seems healthier & brighter

laurels heart: I was tipped off to use purple on my white show dog. Drying but does the trick beautifully.

Julie Wilbur: I also have greying curly hair however I "was" a red head....the grey did look good but the rest of my hair turned almost black!!!

Belinda Messer: This video was so informational Thanks for sharing

Sharon Gaines: I use L’ANGE GLACÉ cool toning shampoo and L’ANGE FROZE’ cool toning conditioner. They are both purple and are for gray hair. They are not drying at all. I love, love ,love them.

Debbie W: So glad to see another hair care video. Thanks for returning to your “roots” (haha) for your video today.
