In shower wash routine that isn't talked about in this video:

I shampoo my roots only and rinse with warm water, then apply my conditioner to the length of my hair only (from nape of my neck down). I then detangle with my fingers or a Wet Brush and let the conditioner sit in my hair while I finish my shower. To rinse the conditioner out, I will flip my hair forward and rinse the conditioner out while brushing my hair with my fingers. This is how I get all of my hair smoothed forward as you see at the beginning of this video.

Explanation of plopping my hair in a t-shirt:

Plopping absorbs water from my hair without creating frizz and gives my curls a chance to form on their own before I scrunch the last bit of water out of my hair after the 15 minutes of plopping. (Video on how I tie the t-shirt around my head coming very soon!)

Hey guys today, I'm gon na show you how I apply my styling products on wash day, so I've already washed and conditioned my hair. My hair is tied up in a t-shirt towel. Normally I apply my products just soaking wet hair, while I'm still in the shower, but for the sake of this video I am just going to read, wet my hair until its dripping wet, I like to apply my products to soaking wet hair, because I see a Lot less frizz, I see more curl definition and just make girls look a lot better when I apply my products this way, so my her dripping wet now and I'm going to apply Tresemme Botanica, coconut conditioner, I like to add conditioner when I style my hair. Just to ensure that my hair has enough moisture, because usually I extend my wash days for 3 to 5 days, so I'm gon na rake the product in I like to rake it in to ensure that my product are evenly distributed. But when I do this, I like to avoid my roots so that my roots don't get oily and way down. When I apply products from the roots, I see a lot less volume and my hair just feels really yucky, so I'm gon na keep breaking it in until it's totally distributed content, and then I'm gon na apply ozzie instant, freeze gel. This is my absolute favorite gel. I'M gon na buy a dollop. I don't know what size amount. You want to call that, and I read this between my hands and then I'm going to do a combination of smoothing and raking, so smoothing is going to create less frizz and bigger curl clumps and braking helps, distribute the product and breaks up clumps. So if you like, really big curl pumps, then I suggest that you smooth and if you like, smaller curl thumbs than you should rake, so I'm buying more gel. Make sure that all of my hair is totally coated in the gel. Then, when it's totally saturated in gel I'm going to start scrunching and to see all of that water coming out is a sign that my hair is properly hydrated and I am more than likely going to see a lower amount of frizz. So when I do this, I kind of scrunch up to my scalp and kind of pulse my fist, and this just helps get more of the water out. When I flip to the side, I kind of break up those curls in the back to make sure they don't curl weird as they're drying, I'm going to continue scrunching this way. So I like to scrunch until I no longer see or feel water coming out of my curls, if I scrunch any further than that, I start seeing a lot of frizz, so you can see, there's not really any more water coming out. So I am about done with scrunching, after that I flop my hair in a t-shirt for about 15 minutes, and I let my hair down and then I will scrunch out any excess water with the towel here, I'm actually just using a plain old cotton t-shirt after That I will take a small claw, clip and pin back those front pieces. It keeps me from messing with it as it's drying and it gives me some lift and volume. My hair is in a gel cast it's kind of crunchy. So then, I like to take out the claw clip and then about every 15 ish minutes, or so I will flip my part from side to side. This gives me a ton of volume, because my roots aren't just sitting on my scalp alright. Now my hair is totally dry. I diffused when it was about 90 % dry. I'M gon na go in with righteous roots oil. I like to use an oil, because I see a lot less frizz. When I use it, you can also use olive oil. Any kind of oil or honestly, no oil at all. This is not a totally necessary step. So I like to smooth it over that top section, because that's where I see the most frizz and then I'm going to start scrunching until I no longer feel that crunchy gel cast my goal is never perfect definition, Michael's, always volume. So I like to shake out my roots, because I see a lot more volume and it breaks up kind of some of those bigger curl clumps and we are done - and I like to switch my part from side to side see which way my hair wants to Lay and some of those top curls that are kind of sticking straight up will lay after a little while, but that is it. Thank you guys so much for watching. If you have any questions, let me know in the comments down below and like and subscribe and do whatever you do on YouTube. Thank you guys. So so much

Farz Blue: This was the best and simplest curly routine I have seen on youtube and I have watched so many thanks for not using 100 products. Also please do a second day curl refreshing tutorial

ramsha: I love how she doesn't use a shit ton of products or does very difficult and lengthy steps and how she jumps right into the video without any unnecessary intro or talking. Loved this SO MUCH!

Albina_: Finally! Someone who doesn’t use over 20 products. Thank you

Britni Buba: I have been working on my curly routine for 3 years now and lately, as my hair has gotten longer, my technique had me applying wayyyy too much product throughout my hair. I decided to start looking around at different application techniques again and yours was a GAME CHANGER! I have a similar pattern to your hair and noticed in newer videos, your long hair was my #goals! I realized I also prioritize volume over definition so your routine was so helpful! Thank you for such concise and direct videos! *side note* you are gorgeous!!

Jayne Mitchell: Thank you for this! I’m so tired of the videos where the girls use 10 to 15 different products. I own enough product to start my own store… You explained it short, sweet, simple and to the point — wonderful!

The Connected Collective: This video has been a lifesaver! I love that it’s simple and yields incredible results! I just started embracing my natural curls after years of straightening and I’m so glad I did. I love how you maintain volume and curl without the frizz. Can’t thank you enough!!! ❤️

A R: ♥Finger comb in conditioner to soaking wet hair ♥Apply gel by smoothing & raking into hair ♥Gently scrunch out excess water ♥Tee towel 15 minutes or so ♥Blot out extra wetness with towel ♥Clip up front pieces for volume ♥Switch hair parts every 15 minutes ♥Air dry until about 90% dry, then diffuse ♥Apply oil & scrunch out crunchy gel cast

Amanda Congiolosi: I’ve been on and off with curly girl and your video has been the most helpful out there. You answered a lot of troubleshooting questions I had. I’ll be trying this again tomorrow. Thank you!

Angie Tru: This is one of the first videos I watched when I started my curly hair journey. It was a life saver. It also saved me from buying a ton of products. Just a tip for all those ladies with thinner hair. Don't add a ton of leave in conditioner It really weighs it down in my experience. I just add the gel and follow the rest of her steps and it turns out nice, curly and full.

Cindy Guerra: I love how simple this routine and affordable this routine is! Definitely going to try it!

Ally Irvine: You are a natural beauty...those amazing eyes! . At last, an easy to follow, effective curly routine that doesn’t involve dozens and dozens of products and accessories. As a curly newbie, this will be the one I follow going forward! Thanks

long yarn: A word of caution: please make sure the conditioner you're using as a leave-in is formulated specifically for use as a leave-in. Wash out conditioners are not PH balanced which can cause problems like hair loss. I'd hate to see that gorgeous mane of yours diminished in any way! Not Your Mother's Curl Talk and TréLuxe are two lines that I know of that have duel wash out or leave-in conditioners. I'm sure if you check around you can find an inexpensive leave-in. Also, if your hair isn't quite so soppy wet, you shouldn't have to use as much product and won't loose as much when you scrunch. Because a lot of it is coming back out with the water. It cuts down on drying time as well.

Rachel Prey: I have followed this routine and my hair is the softest it's ever been thank you so much! And keep em coming (please lol)❤

Briana Curtright: You and your hair are beautiful! I am so excited to see that you have a YouTube channel. I'm feeling very motivated by so many who are embracing their natural hair and transitioning from many hair lifestyles. The journey is proving a little overwhelming for me. I look forward to learning more from you. :)

Tiffany Sanderson: You have GORGEOUS curls! I love the simple routine. A lot of curly girls have 10 different products they use and I'm someone who's very lazy and I don't want to put that much effort into my curls but your routine is something I could easily do!

escoozee moi: Your videos are so helpful! I’ve been trying to bring my curls back and most CG methods are overwhelming to me - this is simple and to the point and worked really well for me so far!

chitty luv2: Love this! I feel like curly hair my whole life has been a war! When I was in high school there were no products. Then we had mousse! Thankfully now we have great products to help us! I wish I were brave enough to have your length but I'm an old lady now so mine is shorter but it looks the best ever! You have Beautiful hair young lady!

Kinneret S: Thank you for the step-by-step tutorial! Just discovered your channel yesterday and already am excited to incorporate some of these curly hair tips! Happy New Year!!!

Pinay Trucker GIRL USA: Wow very pretty hair!

B H: This is so simple and lovely! Thanks so much for this video, which I am trying for the first time today after doing the unicorn cut that you recommend in your other video. If this works, I will continue to cut and style my own hair from now on! I love the simplicity!

Sharnoops: I have such a poor curl pattern now. Nearly 20yrs ears of heavy heat and dye to look like the rest of my straight-haired family. Smh. This is the first affordable hair care routine I have seen and I am 100% on board.

Kk G: I love this video so much! Thank you for the simple and effective routine! I have the same curl pattern as you and I’m going to try these products!

Andi Does Stuff: So happy that I found you! Easiest and most sensible curly hair routine ever! Can't wait to try this on wash day!

Emily Crawford: I almost never comment on YT vids but I think you just saved my hair and thus my sanity. I've tried so many other routines for YEARS and could never get my curls the way I liked them, but following the advice in this video has made SUCH A HUGE DIFFERENCE. Thank you, thank you so much for this ;_; <3

Just-a-girl: I want to give you a big hug. I have struggled with my curls forever! All my siblings have straight hair. Dad has curly hair but is useless at hair advice I followed your steps with my own products and OH MY GOD the results are perfect. I am never straightening them again. Even the next morning they were good. Thank you so much. Much love from another sister in Melbourne ❤️❤️

Melissa Jeffrey: Great video! I'm definitely trying this on my next wash day. Still on the hunt for a curly routine that my daughter and I can use!

Alysia Burns: Great tutorial! I have naturally curly hair but hardly ever wear it curly because it's so frizzy. Adding the products to soaking wet hair makes a huge difference! BTW, you have gorgeous curls. Thank you!

meghan: That claw clip trick is genius!! I always touch that front section of my hair too much when my hair is air drying and my curl pattern suffers for it. Can't wait to try this out next wash day! Thanks for the video!

Palmer Zona: I’ve seen a lot of curly hair routines in my day and yours is one of the best. Amazing results.

Maritza Arce: Can I just say...I have been doing this technique after watching your video for like two weeks, I kid you not my curls are looking amazing thanks to your advice and suggestions!!!! I’m loving my curly hair now!!!!

Chanel Ross: Years of following curly videos and this worked so well for my biracial hair. Thank you!!!! The gel cast and then oil omg why did no one ever think of that. My hair never looked so good

Jenny P: I have watched hours upon hours of curly girl videos, never achieving good results and always feeling confused and Overwhelmed! After coming across you on Instagram which lead me to your YouTube page,! After watching your one Video that you have posted you have given me so much hope for my hair and I have already seen improvement with just one wash day after explaining so simply how to apply the stylers. And I know I don’t have to use so many different products that are so expensive. Thank you for also explaining how you rinse the conditioner out. Flipping my head forward and combing through with my fingers and then applying the leave in on fully wet hair flipped forward made Such a difference!! I can’t wait to learn more from you the next time you post a video. I usually watch curly videos, walking away feeling hopeless and confused. But now I don’t feel so lost and am feeling hope in embracing my curly hair. Thank you for explaining things so simply!!

Rinih Chakraborty: This is the routine I was looking for. Who has time to apply a million products to their hair every single time. Loved it!!!

Rita Sielicki: Oh my goodness!! I tried this routine. Not only does my hair feel like "hair" but this routine works!!! I can't thank you enough. You are anazing!!!!

Fi Lewis: Absolutely gorgeous. Such soft hydrated curls and no frizz x

Here 4 a good Time: Your routine is Literally the only routine that worked on my hair. Thank you!

Heli Sings: Finalmente! Me encuentro con una rutina de cabello que se adapta a mi tipo de cabello ❤️ ya no más frustraciones por qué mi cabello no se define

Melissa San Luis: I love this, I would love to do this to my hair ❤️ Thank you

Jody C.: Now YOU are my kinda curly girl. Keepin' it simple! And your hair looks fantastic! I'm a 57 year old (S&P) curly girl and I thank you for the recommendation of the Aussie Instant Freeze gel. I'm really liking it!

gitanaxu11: Beautiful! Thank you for making it nice and simple with few products. I don’t have 2 hours to do my hair every time I wash it.

hailey marvin: Finally! Someone that also doesn’t use a diffuser or heat or 150 different products in their hair! Can’t wait to give this a try!

Ellie Trinowski: Great job!! I have been looking forward to this post! It really helps to see exactly how you are manipulating your hair with the conditioner and gel. I have done several wonky versions of this process but NOW I can finally do it correctly! I wasn't raking and smoothing as effectively as you show us here. Looking forward to my next wash day...and your next post! Thanks Tay!

Carolina Martinez-Botero: The easiest, quickest and simple way to style the curls with the basic products! Love it!

FinancialMom: I have been following Tay's routine for a few weeks now. My curls look great and I'm getting compliments. The dried frizz is gone! I'm spending less than $5 for gel instead of the $30 product I was using and my hair looks better. @curly tay please link us to a decent hair dryer with a diffuser. I need a dryer and want to buy through your site. So thankful to have a routine that works so well.

Pam Smith: Incredible. I am a closeted curly girl who now lives in the desert (Vegas) and have gotten used to just blowing dry my hair (and therefore, eeeeeek, straightening it). After watching your video, I bought all 3 products mentioned and can not WAIT to see my curls return!!!

Nawaal Waggie: Thanks so much for sharing this! I use that conditioner all the time and I love it, including the amazing smell. Never tried it as a leave in before. Can't wait to!

Yailine Eshelman: Just subscribed and was watching this video and have to say that when I had curly hair like yours, I used to do the same exact routine and sometimes when I had time I would use the curl diffuser attachment on very low cool setting. Other than that the routine was very similar! Made me wish I had my curly hair again!

ladypeartree: Girl I am about to cry!!! This is the first time- THE FIRST TIME- my curls have behaved themselves!! Normally every strand is out to do its own thing but I tried the techniques here and it works!!! Omg!! It works!! I am so grateful! Thank you for sharing such a simple hair care routine!! Thank you! ❤❤❤

J Girl: Learning how to do my curly hair never ends since I just inherited my curls only a few years ago. You taught me some addition tips to add to my regime that I will definitely try. I have the same type of curly hair and have the same issues you discussed in your video. Thank you so much!!!

Megan Campbell: Thank you for sharing your routine, one of the best I've tried in a long time!! I woke up with beautiful hair too, my mother thought I had done my hair before our Skype video call and I said.. I woke up like this..!! Thank you! Also love that the products you use are available in stores. P.S. Your complexion is so beautiful, do you have a routine for this as well?

Ruby's Musings: FINALLY a curly girl that air dries and still gets volume!! Also someone who does not do the separate sections thing etc etc. I am definitely going to try this next wash day.

Stephanie Cortez Mila: Wow gorgeous curls! Loving this vid. You really simplified it

Emilie Craig: You are gorgeous! I so appreciate you taking the time to make this video! I am new to CGM and it is so overwhelming! You make it look so easy! Thank you so much! Did you ever make the video that shows how you plop?

Camila Montiel: I absolutely love this video it doesn’t get me confuse and just explains right away and you don’t talk a lot to the point to the point you’ll just never lose me

Valentina: I did this exact same routine, same products except without the scrunching and my hair looks the best it ever has. Thank you my dear!!!!!! I will never straighten it again thanks to this ♥️

Adina Pestroiu: Loved it. Short and efficient. I really resonated with your process steps. I also loved not having to listen to a long intro and overall video

Marcie marcie: That saved my hair style for my son's wedding! Thank you very much for sharing it

shahnaz benazir: the super easy yet effective way of getting my goals curls... thank you so much was waiting for something like this

C Z: I have board straight hair that is super low maintenance and I’ve never had to do anything to. But my two year old daughter has hair that looks just like yours! This has been a huge learning curve for me trying to figure out how to wash, dry and what products to use so I don’t dry her hair out more or end up with her hair in a big frizz poof! This video was super helpful, although, I would still like to see how you diffuse your hair? I tried lightly blow drying her hair and yeah, that was a disaster. I guess just air dry until she is older maybe? Already have shampoo, conditioner and leave in conditioner that has been a life changer on her hair, but going to try the gel next and see if that’s the golden ticket. Thanks!!

Arianna celeste: love this! there are so many people that use too many products and expensive ones as well. short and simple, thank you <3

Sharon Lynas: Best video and so easy to follow!! Thank you from an older curly lady!!

Chloe: So love this routine it’s soo easy!! Thank u sooo much

E SOTO: OmG I do almost the same routine since I was very young, I had pretty much the same curls as you back then, now I'm almost 50 and my hair have changed a little bit. Thank you for showing us this products, I´m going to try them… Regards from México!

Sarah Bisgaard: I need to try your conditioner technique! My hair is always so frizzy. I also love that you use inexpensive and minimal products!

Cindi Sowder: So gorgeous. I have wavy hair that I occasionally straight iron. It's frustrating because some parts are wavy curly and some are straighter. But my hair has been so dry I was wondering what someone with curly hair would do to condition. I am hoping using some of your routine will help my hair. Happy that I won't have to pay salon prices to try this out, thank you. Relaxing and great video.

G: Great video. Clear and simple and fabulous result!! Thanks.

Jamie Lynn | A Mom's Life: Myself and my babies have curls! Mine isn't as thick and pretty as yours, more like messy-damaged curls for me from living at the beach However, I totally want to try this. Also, new to your channel, just joined so I can follow all your tips! Thank you for sharing these! XOXO Jamie Lynn, baby Chase (and any time now) baby Kalina

Sherry Block: Your hair is absolutely beautiful. You make it look so easy.

Flo: I did this today and it worked really well considering I didn’t have a towel shirt, just used a regular towel and didn’t have time to watch the complete video again at one time. My wavy/curly hair looks better than ever. I may need to add a little more gel and next I’m watching how to maintain for a couple days more at least. Thank you! Bc if this video I’m subscribing!!!

Vidya Balakrishnan: I've been using the tresemme coconut oil conditioner but dint know I could use it as a leave in too. Thank you for the video coz it was simple , affordable and less time consuming and the best part is not using a million products on hair.

Christi Farris: Thank you for sharing this simple routine! I love how your curls turned out. Do you ever use masques on your hair? Are you one who keeps up with protein levels in your hair? I was just curious...

Roshni Nair: Wow! After watching hours of curly gurl video I have finally found the most doable technique! Thank you for making this video!

Anita Bruckner: This was the best curly hair video out there. So easy. I hope that I can do it myself. I am still experimenting. Thanks so much.

Adinah: Love the results. Beautiful! I really like the instant freeze gel but Aussie should definitely make a bigger size gel.

Itzayana Murillo: OMG! I always thought that this curls type needed to style our hair when it's damp but I never thought that styling wet hair is better when applying product and to keep the frizz down and add volume to the curls.

Rose Davis: My first every video of watching a hair routine. Initial reaction was wow she is gorgeous and her hair looks flawless. Secondly how easy and amazing it looks now; it's just me trying it out!

maggiev77: Really good video. Not a ton of products and a simple way to get a great look. Thanks!

Lucia Lucia: Totally beautiful and the steps are so simple ..thank you

Karen McGray: I went to wash my hair right after watching this video. I used curl cream and mousse. I had to use my wet brush to comb in my conditioner as my hair does not fall upside down like Curly Tays. Next time I will try my gel. My curls came out more defined. Thank you so much!

Mouna Sudheer: You're probably the prettiest curly hair girl I've ever seen! Finally your new youtube Channel please do a video on your curly hair journey and do's and don'ts

Patricia Bello: wow so pretty! I have the same hair type as you and recently I started to take care of them and stop using heat, it has worked, but I still have so much frizz :( and the tutorials that I find are always so complicated or expensive, but yours is really simple and the results are exactly what I'm looking for my hair, I'll use your routine to see if it works :D

Katrina Beech: About how long does it take for your hair to dry to 90%? It takes hours for my hair to dry, and I don't have that much time in the morning before work, unfortunately. I'm trying to find a mostly heat-free way to style my curls. (Love your video, by the way! Beautiful curls.)

have3kids too: I think I have commented on your video before, but have to do it again. I love how minimal products you use. This is just what I do. i am over the cg method. I was washing, conditioning, gel, air drying, and scrunching out the crunch back in the 90's. Great job, and your hair is beautiful.

ghost: I think gel is what I've been missing. I see every curly haired person use it, but I've always been turned off because of the crunch. I didn't think about crunching it out lol... my hair is unbearably frizzy, and I put on/take off a hairnet multiple times throughout my workday, so by the end of the day, I really look like I've been mauled by a bear...

Erica Fisher: I tried your method and OMG! Girl....its been soooo long since i have seen ringlets in my hair! Love them and now i love you!! Thanks sooo much!

Gaye Roznovsky: Hi! I’m a little late to the party! Just decided to embrace my crazy, curly hair. So glad your channel found me!

Marcelo Paz: Fast and gorgeous, thank you.

A.: From the few curly girls I follow on Instagram you are the one with the closest hair to mine, I'm definitively going to try styling like that tomorrow I'm really glad you started a youtube channel and I look forward to your next video !

Jasmine Moore: I bought the Aussie instant freeze gel because of this video. I love it! Thank you! :)

Carla Postlethwait: Absolutely beautiful! Making me wish for curly hair.

Dhvani Shukla: Do you get more knots in your hair or loose more hair when you follow the routine with products versus no styling products? Do you have to touch ups and if so, what is your process Thank you for the video- I am glad I watched it

Shelly: You have beautiful hair! Love the curls. This was very helpful. Thanks for sharing

Evelina Putt: Today is wash day and I am trying this !!!!!! Loooove this video so much thank you for showing all of us ❤️

Megan Weiss: Gorgeous face and curls. I also have the issue with my underneath curls clumping and drying funny if I don't touch up on them before I air dry; so thank you for mentioning that. I look forward to seeing more videos. Happy posting

Alinna Joy: I love your curl pattern! My curls are more like coils but I love these products too

Marta Blunt: Love your video. You made it look so easy and not that many products.

Lindsay Manzella: Thank you for this short and to the point video!

Barbara Dayana: How tf dis you make a curly hair routine look so damn simple ?! I’ve watched TONS of tutorials and I could never style my hair without having so much damn frizz and I use expensive hair products too I will definitely try this. I’ll update on how this goes for me

Alia A: Youre sooo beautiful and so is your hair! Uhh I would love your hair, I have to try this method out and see if it helps :) Plus your video is so easy to follow and clear. Youve also got this soothing voice which is easy to listen to, Thank you so much for uploading. I appreciate it!!!
