My updated 4c wash day and moisturizing steps for my new natural hair care routine.

After doing the 30 Day Hair Detox for nearly 2 months, I've decided to revamp my hair care regimen. I've added some new products and techniques and kept some oldies, but goodies.

My haircare will continue to evolve as I gain more knowledge and experiment. My hair will continue to change with age and so should my routine. My advice? Enjoy the process and stay flexible and open-minded.

Hey loves. Welcome back to my channel. My name is latoya ebony. I do a lot of type 4 natural hair care videos. However, we gon na be getting back into our fashion and beauty and lifestyle and all that on this channel. So i hope that you are ready because your girl has been preparing. So today we are going to be discussing my new hair care routine. Some of the tweaks and whatnot that i have done and i'm gon na do that. While i am moisturizing my hair, the only true way to moisturize your hair is, of course with water, but it is washed freshly washed. It is dry from the night before i did make sure that i had my little shower cap off. While i was in the shower, but really i kind of want to walk you guys through some of the changes that i've made in my routine as of late low-key, i want one of those misters, the continuous mist. I think that those are so luxe. I don't know why i know it's just a spray bottle, but you imagine i need one in my life. I might be getting one from amazon. It will probably change my life. So the reason why i always start with water is because this is the one true moisturizer. So i really try to make sure that my hair is dampened nice enough, but not too saturated, because i'm gon na be preparing for a twist out. I'M gon na be shooting some fashion content for instagram. So if you are not following me on instagram, go ahead and check your girl out at latoya underscore ebony you're probably like well. Why are you doing more fashion content? Because that's what i always love to do? I'Ve always loved fashion, but my hair content is what you know you guys enjoy, and i appreciate that and the hair content is not going anywhere, but i do want to make sure i diversify a little bit and also, i feel like lately the hair content. I mean it was just so stressful for no reason you know i mean like i just want to have fun again, so i need to bring a little variety and i hope you guys are going to support me on that, but also get some good style tips. So my hair is decently damp and the products i'm gon na be using today we've got kinky curly. Not today, you guys. Yes, we do. This is a favorite. Those of you who are concerned. There is no oil or butter in this product, and i also will be topping that with the innersense, quiet, calm, curl control and no oil, you guys no oil. I know i know it has changed. This product does include some oil in it and some shea butter as well. So this is what i've been doing. Also, another product that i have been moisturizing, my hair with is the melanin multi-use softening leave-in conditioner and if you care, there's no oil or butter within the first five ingredients, i'm not quite as strict about that anymore. To be honest, as i prep my hair for tomorrow's festivities, that you will eventually see i won't talk, i won't talk about it. My twists are going to be about medium size. I always activate my hair or activate. I always spray my hair with water, because water allows for your hair to shape shift, meaning heat chemicals, water they're, the only things that can really alter your hair, like that, at least that i know of y'all, and so water is my favorite. It'S the least damaging and when you wet your hair with water, the way that it sets in terms of like, if i want to do, oh got a little phone call from bae. Sorry guys. I have no idea what i was saying, except for that water is my favorite thing to use when i am shape-shifting, my hair, you know when we work in that black girl magic. So what i'm going to be doing is going in with my leave-in conditioner, which i've missed. I'Ve missed you dolling, and i'm almost done with this, so we going to use it and then going in with the quiet calm on top layering that twisting my hair. You know, after it's missed with water and that's it that is my process. While i talk to you guys about my new wash routine, my revised washing routine, i am surprised that i have continued with two shampoos, two. Yes, that is true, so i will either use my nizoral shampoo if i'm having like a scalp flare-up, but now i am not caring that much so um. I will alternate those when needed, but, generally speaking, i have continued with the ag balanced shampoo and i have been sudsing it up. You guys. I'Ve been getting my scalp and my hair not being too shy about really making sure those strands are really really clean. Not being afraid of that squeaky, clean feeling, uh it you know, i have transformed. I have changed my inner being my inner mind on a lot of things, just not being afraid of oh this is this is going to be one of them chunky. Twist outs, you guys ciao, just not being afraid of that feeling has been transformative after that i've been following up with the moisturizing shampoo. Now my steps are always going to change depending on what my hair needs in the moment, and i think that that's one of the most important things to remember is like my routine is always changing, because my hair is always changing. I'M getting older, i'm in a different climate. I do different things every week. Sometimes i'm way more active, sometimes i'm not also, depending on the products that i use. It will change and it's supposed to change, because i want to make sure that i'm effectively taking care of my hair and everyday life for me is not exactly the same. So my products - they change with me and that's probably the biggest takeaway that i've had is that making sure there are a lot of things i was already doing like if i'm going to use silicones or greases or anything heavy butters that i'm really making sure that I'M properly cleansing my hair with a sulfate shampoo, but now i have added the clarifying shampoo in the mix and i used to use clarifying shampoo way way way way way back when, when we didn't know that kinky curly come clean. This one right here when we didn't know that that was a clarifying shampoo, because i think it says, like moisturizing, shampoo or something on the bottle. I used to use that when i first went natural and um you know now. I have it in my arsenal. As a clarifier, depending on what i do with my hair, so i still will continue to use up the products that i have. We don't waste over here. Uh, we ain't wasting. Okay, these products have been working for me and i will continue to use them all right, um, so yeah. I am going to continue to use up all the products that i have, but i will be using them a lot more effectively and really thinking critically about when i need them. I just realized that this twist out is probably gon na take a little longer than i thought it was gon na take because i wasn't planning on going this small, but you know we need to be looking cute for these photos so yeah. This is just my preferred style, i'm gon na. I also have like a couple photos with my hair in its natural state, and i am so proud of where i've come from, not thinking that my hair was done when it was in its natural state. Like i look back at that time and i'm just like wow come on jay y'all, my husband keeps interrupting me and i just i know, he's gon na interrupt me again. I apologize my thoughts are all over the place, but we're gon na talk a little bit about how good this feels this in aloe vera gel bae, bae, just bae like to think i don't know. I just really love the feeling of it. I love that smoothing feeling i feel like my hair. Just ah, i feel, like my hair, missed it all right, but we still going in with this quiet column on top just a little bit. We don't need a lot. I never was super heavy-handed with my products. To begin with, i mean y'all could check the receipts. All of my videos in the past are like you, don't need to use a lot, sometimes just add, with some water to reactivate the product, and it's still true today. You don't need a lot, so let's talk about the conditioning all right, so i have been following up with the inner sins color radiance conditioner, i believe, is what it's called and i like it. I do like it. It is very, very nice. It is a nice conditioner, it is not like a deep conditioner, but it's a nice conditioner. So i think i like it better than the ag boost. However, i didn't really give the ag boost a chance. It was like one and done i you are not giving me what i need and so you gots to go. Listen, i got time. Okay, i ain't got time if the product ain't working, i messing with it. You know um, but i did not set it up for success necessarily because that was during uh my the week that i like used all those shampoos on my hair ciao, because that conditioner was good but not great for my detangling needs. I have gone in with a deep conditioner. It is the shea moisture intensive hydration hair mask, i believe, is what is called, and this one got shea butter all up in it. You guys, i think i want to say, like the third ingredient, or something is like. I don't have all of the the deets, but i'll put it on my on the screen. You know it's very high in shea butter, which is a staple for that brand. I think it's been a staple for that brand since they first came out, and so yes, we were getting the buttery feeling. Yes, we were - and i was here for it - i'm not even gon na lie. Definitely here for the buttery feeling. For the first time i felt the waxiness of it. It has this waxy texture that i've never noticed before, and that was incredibly surprising. It kind of caught me off guard. I was like, oh, i can feel the coating. So what that means is that i will be clarifying my hair a little bit more often in order to kind of make up for that. But the cool thing is is that i haven't found a need for oil. Yet in my hair styling process i kind of feel like if i'm gon na do like maybe a protective style or something like that. Maybe i would lean more into the oil, but i was at various times during my journey, just not using oil, because i didn't have it on hand for traveling or i just forgot to add it as the last step. One thing i do like about like raw oil is, it does give a nice shine to the hair and it does give it like a nice kind of softening feeling that i think a lot of people like, but i am discovering that i don't think i need The raw oil as much as i thought i don't know this - is still a journey y'all we gon na keep trying things out. I could you know a month from now be like no. No, i'm gon na use i'm going to continue to use coconut oil, but a cool thing about the products that i use is that it kind of already has in it there's a lot of products that has coconut oil in it already. We love coconut oil over here, okay, coconut oil. In my house. I will eat it. I will slather it all over my body, i will put it on my hair if i want to so, i am going to do a little bit more of my hair. Without talking uh and then we are going to talk about the detangling process and how that's been going because y'all know i was struggling for a little while. So let me get my hair twisted up a little bit, i'm back darling and we are going to talk about detangling. Okay. Now, if you know me by the way side note, my twists always are larger in the back smaller. On the front, i like volume in the back definition in the front it works out for me, you do you boo, okay, now, as far as detangling, i have actually been using a combination of my fingers and the detangling brush. You guys, i know i know. I know it's been a combination and i think it's probably the most thorough that way. However, i don't need the detangling brush like that that much my detangling session has gone much faster, adding the deep conditioner back in i've washed my hair about three times two of those times. I use a deep conditioner, the other time, just regular conditioner. So i have been feeling it out and you know just having fun. This is supposed to be fun, and sometimes it's like the internet takes things so seriously and i'm just like yeah y'all y'all, forcing me into a break. Listen! Okay! No! I like having fun it's supposed to be flexible, at least for me. I enjoy what i do. I definitely do and i'm always going to continue to seek out the fun in this. You know, because i can't i can't do the too serious stuff. I can't i can't, ladies and gentlemen, you probably don't know this, but my camera has been cutting off quite a bit, and so what i'm going to do is finish up my hair and try to keep as much of it on camera as possible and then come Back and let you guys see everything all done now, this is gon na, be a fluffier twist out. Let me just show you now i can say, without the oil there's not quite as much shine and also there's not quite as much slip once the product starts. To dry on the hair, however, i am aware that my hair is going to dry a lot faster without the oil, so you know we are continuing to experiment and so far so good i've been doing this for a few weeks now - and i like it - i, Like it so far, i'll keep y'all updated. Okay, let me give a quick shout out to the coily crew over on patreon. We have a ton of fun if you want to learn how to support this channel, go to patreon.com backslash latoya ebony and become a coily crew member i'd love to have you. I love you all and i will see you next time in a couple days with another video

LaToya Ebony: My haircare will continue to evolve as I gain more knowledge and experiment. My hair will continue to change with age and so should my routine. My advice? Enjoy the process and stay flexible and open-minded.

Sabine Marie: I learned a lot from the 30 day hair detox, and from watching you go through it! And I agree with you, leave in conditioners just feel so good! I just like my hair much better when I use them. But I don't use as much as I used to and I'm more open to using gels and doing wash and gos (or wash and sets as I like to call them lol). I also loved the shampooing portion of the challenge so I also kept that, but I didn't love the shampoos they recommend. I don't like how AG smells :( I've gone full product junky but now I know what to look for in my products so I can buy products with intent. I am so in love with the TGIN Moisture Rich shampoo and the Camille Rose Ginger gentle cleanser! And I don't miss the oils either I agree with you there lol.

miniminott48: LaToya, I am with you regarding having fun with our natural hair.

Carol Olson: I've been using TGIN hair moisture with my routine and it has been really giving my hair that extra need support to keep it healthy and growing.

H C: Latoya! I love this video. I swear your mood is so awesome . Can’t wait to see this twist out and the fashion video you’ll bring later on. Still in the 30daydetox mode so I won’t say too much about it now. In the meantime, I’m taking note of what I may continue or modify. I am loving how my curls are popping more. I’m kind of in the mode of what you were saying …just enjoy the process of our natural hair journey! ‍♀️

1GoldenBreeze: It's great that you have the patience to do twists, and your twist-outs are always so cute and look very different from your wash-n-go. My twist-outs and wash-n-go look the same so I'm not so inclined to do twist-outs. Spending all that time for the style that looks the same as a style that takes me 15min in the shower is discouraging. That waxy feeling and the fact that shea butter in high concentration makes my hair hard is why I gave up Shea Moisture products many years ago.

Jermaine Au Natural: I am loving the transition and experimentation. This is what makes it fun! Trying new methods! I need to try that Shea Moisture. I keep hearing how good this entire line is and how moisturizing it is. LISTEN don't let people stress you out from doing what you like to do. BTW Im catching up today lol

Maya: Love sheamoisture manuka honey and the superfruits one. Excellent on my low porosity hair. I decided I will indulge in a DC once a month and alternate between my very specific pool of products depending on how, what my hair and what style I'm going for. This summer was a very teachable moment for me.

Cheshire Dj: I've tried the wash n go and I like the simplicity because it can be pretty fast, but I still like twisting my hair. I find it kind of therapeutic! And I try to do them neatly so I can just wear them a couple of days (or longer ).

Tasha B.: AG boost is a great product. I usually let in sit for 5-10 before I detangling. Also adding a little water at a time increases the slip. I love your videos!

vicky fox: I love your fashion content! We have similar tastes and contrasting tastes, so you're really helping me figure out what I want and how to broaden my horizons.

Linda B: Wonderful that the 30-Day Hair Detox helped you learn more about your hair. I enjoyed watching your experience. ❤

Rabielle Parfait: Yes! Love KCKT too! And the Shea Moisture Manuka Honey is my favourite deep conditioner and I use it regularly. I can’t wait to see your new more fashion related content. Will you be using clay again? ☺️

heaven: your hair is long but shrinkage is so real …. love your personality Latoya, you and many others helped me out on my natural hair journey, I want to thank you over and over again my dear

Tinta Manengu: Love this, it's a lot of work considering how much hair you have, I did a short wash day video too and I and my short hair are tired, but I plan to make it a weekly thing so, we keep going. Great video

vicky fox: 2 shampoos? That was all I took from this entire series. I was afraid of damaging my hair, but I think it's working better.

Melanie Oyadina Smith: I love your hair texture, watching you do your twists is so relaxing, like ASMR.

Divine Ofomaja: yep we hope to see even more transformation ahead sis welldone❣

Mo Sunshine: We love you girl. Hope you're feeling better

Drew Baker: So exciting! Latoya has a new hair care routine? Cannot wait!

JKim: Your make up is on point- subtle yet classy. Love from Nairobi, Kenya

vicky fox: The mister bottle save your hands. Don't be fooled by the higher priced ones though, you can buy one for $7 that works fine! I've had mine for over a year and it's still working perfectly.

God’s Precious: I shampoo twice also. Instead of purchasing a clarifying shampoo, I just use something that’s a little drying. Camille Rose Ginger Rinse is good to use before shampooing. I like to experiment

Adam Astro: I love your energy in this. You seem so fresh!

Cicely B: I forgot to mention that you should have way more subscribers because your channel is excellent!

Ren C: Great video! Do you use anything on your scalp for the seborrheic issue? Or is the Nizoral sufficient for keeping it at bay?

Cicely B: Do you ever have problems with shedding? I’m going through a shedding phase right now and it’s so frustrating!

S Maxwell: Yes LaToya thank you for this video

vicky fox: At this point my detangling brushes are fandom paraphernalia and I have every intention to buy at least one more! I'll use them more after I've figured out why my hair feels so fragile and solved that. (There's also a substantial possibility that I'm paranoid.) But even so, I just detangling brushes!

Jewel: Cool Your hair is so beautiful thick!

Joni True: I make a diy shampoo from black soap. Works wonderfully.

Vanessa Angrisani: A word of advice: look into no sulfates fast hair growth shampoo.

Rhonda: Just a question. Did I miss it? Did you use a leave-in conditioner or styler before you twisted your hair?

Latasha Pannell: You r just a dope human being ☺️

Maay the Muse: Get the mister!!! It’s definitely been a great purchase for me.

Channy J: The melanin is my favorite leave-in

Bri: I have a continuous spray bottle from pattern but for my kinks has one too.

Rebecca Murille: I recommend you look for fast hair growth shampoo to double hair growth.

Naomi Deckins: I was worried when you were twisting and talking. Because ma'am, I knew you couldn't multitask. Like, has our LaToya changed? But then you said "nah" Love that for me.

Anewlife2021: Suggestion: Please look at the influencer, "Manes by Mel" and her sister, Amanda. I watch you and Mel; two different hair types and ethnic backgrounds, but both equally amazing. I would love to see a collaboration. Mel is always looking to expand her knowledge of all types of curly hair. You would be the perfect teacher !
