What is going on YouTube? Stephen, a salon guy here, and I had to make this video. Let'S talk about freestylers now, I'm not gon na be salty Stephen. Today, I promise, but I want to share with you my experience as a professional stylist, of what my take on actual pre stylers arcs. I think a lot of people are very confused by a bunch of information floating around on YouTube from non professionals and not to take away from anyone who's, not a hairstylist, because there are a lot of people who actually do have some good information based on their Own experiences, but I want to share with you some of my experiences from a stylist that you kind of understand my perspective of what an actual pre styler is because I'm seeing a lot of people using actual real styling products as pre stylers and I'm like. Oh, my gosh, this whole term free styling, has been driving me crazy. So what is an actual pre styler? Okay: here's an example of a pre styler, my 25 spray, anything that is designed to prep the hair, whether it's prepping it for volume, whether it's prepping it or helping it, be smooth out like something like sleek, which is my argan oil, smoothing serum or say, for Example, maybe you know tidal wave something that has a specific task. It'S supposed to do or a specific goal, or characteristic to that's helping design the shape of the style or has a specific type of solution to a problem like your hair is very, very frizzy or it's super dry. That is a pre styler. Okay, something that you're using to support the end result. That'S it that's simple! So, for example, with a smoothing, serum or sleek. What you want to do is if you're blow-drying your hair and your hair is really really frizzy every time you blow dry it well guess what you need a priest I'll or like a smoothing serum, because you put it in it's used to smooth the hair out. It'S through the tame frizz, then you go in and use a regular styling product like clutch or free game or any sort of styling product to finish off the style. That'S it 25 spray. Again, if you want a little volume, if you want to tame some frizz, if you want to add some condition to your hair, it's really really dry you're, going to apply products that are helping or that have a solution. Okay, because that it's what's getting me concerned, is that so many people are talking about using post styling products as pre stylers and I'm like you know what, like you, can someone products you can use as priests out and it's great, but you know they're designed for Regular styling, you know, I mean they're, not really helping a solution when the hair is wet. That'S why you never see me using my own styling products as priests, others, because that's not what they're designed to do so after you have the hair completely dried from using something that's gon na support that look, which is an actual pre styler. Then you go in with like a clutch or anything to finish off that style. So that's pretty much it you know. Is it wrong if you're using styling products as a freestyler, I mean no, it's not the end of the world, but you know from a professional standpoint if I'm working on an actual client - and I want to achieve a certain look - I'm gon na break it down From when the hair is wet, what am I gon na put in that hair to support that end result, and then how am I going to lock in that end result so think of it as different phases right and you guys that are consumers and regular clients Think of it as different phases of the styling process. Okay, your hair's wet. What does my end result want to look like what kind of style do I want? Okay, what could I use to support that, or what can I use to make my hair look as best as it possibly can, so it's ready to be finished off by the styling product? Okay, so it's like three different phases and if you're a stylist or you're, you know in beauty, school or something and you're you're, trying to figure out what this all means. It'S the same exact thing except you're, the one who's doing it and you're prepping. That hair and getting it ready. So if your hair is very fine or you're looking for extra volume, that's where a mousse comes in, like pre style, there may be a tidal wave getting that volume from the pre styling and the blow-drying, and then you finish it. So that's it! I don't want to ramble on, but let me know if you found this video helpful because I think it's an important topic and I keep hearing this floating around all over YouTube about styling and I'm like well, I'm gon na chime in on it. TDM Style: This definitely needed to be put out there!

Joey Pesa: Love your products, Stephen. Just got wind of them recently, but I love what you’re doing. Promoting health in the hair and creating versatile styling products is wonderful. I have tried many of the “home brew” products, and while they’re not bad, they aren’t even close to your salon-style products. Thank you!

Strapping Young Ladam: Very helpful video. 25 is definitely the best prestyler on the market that I've tried. I even use it on days when I wear a hat as opposed to actually styling my hair.

Trọng Hữu: Agree! I see so many folks out there use all kinds of finishing products, regardless of type (clays, waxes, pastes or even pomades) as prestylers. And that really drives me nuts!

kaushik Jayanarayanan: Stephen. The 25 spray is really good. But the pre game matte wax paste is a fantastic pre styler. :). I mean it’s a great pre and post styler. Something like clutch I am sure is just post, no point using it as a pre styler.

xyber81: This!! I can think of the main offender pushing this idea straight away. It’s just a way of using more product, faster. They are basically saying if you use double the product, it will hold longer/stronger etc, but disguising the con by calling the first dose, “prestyling”. I’m slowly going off most prestylers, they seem to cause frizz in my hair or interfere with the styling products performance, mainly no wax will hold or stay up and seem to stay tacky and Clays look super dry and make my hair look dead, but stay tacky. So if anyone wants to create a one stop styling product that’s water based, strong hold, natural/satin shine good texture and fully dries, I’ll buy a drum full.

Mikun Kabuto: Excellent video! Stephen, how do i decrease the volume in my hair? I use thinning scissors but what could help me to get a really thin hair;

Phillip Andrew: So what exactly is mousse for? You mention for volume and to plump fine hair, but I've never found mousse very helpful for volume (I don't have fine hair). I can get lasting all day volume by blow-drying correctly. Granted, I haven't tried that many brands of mousse, but is there something I should be looking for with regards to volume that mousse can help with?

Crashi 83: Hey Stephen, One quick question: is your 25 Treatment 100% out of natural ingredients? As I had a hair transplantation I want to use only „clean“ stuff Thanks man and greetz from Europe

Briggs Barbering & Nonsense: Great video brother! Love your PreStyle product! The aroma is amazing too! I need to get one of those T-shirt’s!

Incorrecte Ingave: Which pre styler do you use on your own hair?

A: I use Aveda Thickening Tonic as a prestyler, the best prestyling product I've ever tried. A bit expensive though.

Zen Ultra: keep it going!! also...can you make a video about picking the best hairstyle for headshape...cuz i really need alot of information from an expert like you ʕ•ﻌ•ʔ

Cole: Just bought a bottle yesterday, can’t wait to get it!

Michael Angel: I'm curious, why didn't you show your product that's actually called, "Prestyle"? I really like it.

Mr. E: Which would be better for frizz and smoothing (Plush Smoothing Serum or SLEEK Argan Oil Smoothing Serum) ? I have frizzy wavy hair that is about 6" in length, so I don't want to weigh it down any further.

Patrick Stirling: Just bout your 25 spray. I work in the construction trade in general and I shower at night and wake up early and don’t have time to do anything to my hair before going to work. Can I use the 25 spray to my hair in the morning on my way to work as a conditioner or as a protectant even though it’s dry? Any issues or problems with this? I appreciate all your content and want to help myself and others who may be in a similar profession or situation where they may not be able to get their hair prepped in the morning. Thank you!!

Farooq Khan: Love your products and videos, one question can you use talc with a finishing product like clutch, If so when should I use it.

Rodrigo Martinez: What about only using the prestyler?

CEO OF MY LIFE: Can you explain - pre styler with a built in heat protectant claims. Do you have a pre styler in your terms that also acts as a heat protectant?

Sonny Huynh: I was looking at the ingredients and it has silicone in it, isn't that suppose to be kinda bad for hair long term?

Woduh: Is gel a good Prestyler?

Callum Adams 101: Can I get ur products on England?

Triarii: What about mousse?

Gabriel Rochefort: Should I use an oil base pre styler like a smooting serum with something like shadow. Is that gonna make my hair too shinny?

Kuldip Singh: Shit your hair don't need, serum then clay, don't make sense.

C.W. Richardson 3: Why is this bald man talking about pre styler
