"Gel Alternative"

I use this method to slick back my hair and i love the results. My hair stays nicely in place & this alternative controls all the frizz. To achieve this look i did not use gel because although gel can give a nice sleek look it's not the best product for hair. Using this method/alternative when i take my hair down from a hairstyle it was in my hair remains soft & still has movement. With using gel... afterwards it can leave hair feeling very crunchie, dry and flakey. This method/alternative works amazing for me and i hope it does for you too, all the best♥♥♥

Hey everyone today, I'm going to show you guys a very easy and quick way of flicking back your hair without having to use gel, but it's still staying in place, because gel is very bad for your hair. It generally has alcohol agents which is drying and will make your hair dry and brittle, and it's not good for your hair. It tends to break your hair and, like I said it's not good for your hair, so I'm going to show you guys an alternative and honestly, this works really great for me in my hair, still stays that very nice and slick and think about is when you Use gel after you take out your bun or your ponytail or whatever you had your hair slip back in you'll notice like a crunchy and dry feeling, and sometimes you'll, even get like these little white flaky residue stuff, and it is not cute. So this way works really great for me. So hope it works really great for you and let me show you guys what you'll need you okay. So what you'll need is a leave-in conditioner, I'm going to be using on mix chicks as well as rimoni, but preferably use one that doesn't have all call agents because, like I said alcohol dries out your hair, so um yeah mix, chicks, doesn't have alcohol agents in It so I will be using a mixture of both, and this also will give you a very nice wave, because leave-in conditioners tend to define your curl so it'll. Also, not only will flip back your hair, but I'll leave a nice little wave, which will look very pretty since leave-in conditioners are very light and they leave your hair very bouncy and lightweight you're going to need something. That'S a little bit heavier to weight down so either shea butter or hair food I'm actually going to be using Dax. You don't need a lot, but this will actually help to keep your hair nice and down so you'll. Need that and to finish it off you're, going to need some brushes these one, this one's a little bit harder this like a boar, bristle brush. This one is softer. You can pick which one you want, but obviously it's better to use a soft one or if you do use a hard one like I'm going to be using you're, not going to dig it into your scalp, because you don't want your scalp to bleed or anything Like that, so, if you're going to use a harder bristle brush, then just make sure to be nice and soft because you don't want to Drago your hair you'd want to break your hair or you don't wan na hurt your scalp. So if you're going to use it just be careful with it or you can just use a soft one and it works basically the same so you'll need that and lastly, to comb your hair and pull it back into one you're going to need a Y tooth Comb, I already have my hair slicked back in to a bun. So now I'm going to show you guys what you have to do so using the leaving conditioner get a generous amount. You don't need too much, so you don't need too much. So I'm going to actually use about that much and you're just going to lather that throughout your hair and make sure you get it on both sides. So I'm just going to put that all in my hair and make sure to get that all throughout the area. That is slicked back and you might even want to pull out any like little baby hairs in the back and then just put some of the product in it. Now I'm using a little bit of rimoni and you're just going to put that throughout your hair, make sure that everywhere is covered. Now, I'm just going to get these little back hairs here then put some product in them and leave that to curl up for itself. After you've made sure to get all your leave-in conditioner, all throughout your hair, you're gon na use your shea butter or your hair food or anything like that, get it a generous amount like this and basically you're just going to put it on your hair to keep Your hair to stay down. This is just going to make your hair a little bit more heavy you're, not so lightweight, and it will keep it down. Okay, so after you've done that you'll start to see those waves starting to form even more and get even more defined and using either of your brushes either one that you have you're going to comb it and make sure you use a brush like this, because this Will definitely flip your hair down and keep it down, be nice and gentle and make sure to get all that here at the top and all around. So I'm getting all those hairs and I could feel how nice and wavy that my hair is it really made it nice and wavy. I hope you can see that so that is basically the finished product and you're going to put any like clips or anything to ensure it even more. But honestly, your hair will stay nice and silky. Your hair will stay nice and smooth and slip down. So I hope you guys enjoyed that video and honestly this works great. For me, my hair stays in place and it stays so nice and silky and smooth and none of the little hairs um come out of place and even if they are giving me a little bit of trouble I'll just like slick it down and then I'll just Put a little clip just in case to put it in place: Olga's in um, cut out yeah. It works really great for me hope it works great for you, because gel is not good for your hair, so please don't use it but try this method, and I hope it works great for you, but that's it for today. I hope this method works out great for you and don't forget to comment and subscribe and I'll talk to you later. Bye,

Elegant Beauty Tv: I have a similar video! My hair has always been so difficult when it comes to the "sleek" look because it's SOO thick! But i've mastered it over the years!

liveloveGlam: Thanks for the video idea :) I have a few tips but my main tips are limiting or not using heat, it made a huge difference in my hair. Also co-washing helped my hair to stay softer, longer which helped & made less breakage

Melissa Bernard: I'm really loving your channel, thanks for the get idea. I'm definitely going to try this on those weeks when my hair is getting close to needing a perm. My baby hairs get hard to control in those times

Neshii S: New subscriber!!! :)) I'm definitely gonna try it! Haven't flat ironed my hair since June! I found you because I'm thinking about dying my hair for the 2nd time in my life(I'm 20)!

liveloveGlam: Thanks for sharing your technique as well, sounds like it works really great! ^_^

Orlando Morales: Very beautiful work with matching hair. Enjoyed it.

HappyKeepin ItNappy: Beautiful hair! I love the wavy look! Just my humble opinion...I don't think people voted the video down because of your texture or mixed chicks. It may be because you did a video to show people how to slick their hair down with your hair already slicked down. Would have been nice if you started off with hair that wasn't already slicked down. Just my 2cents :)

Yani.Imani: your hair is so pretty! im currently transitioning to natural, so if you could do some more natural hair videos that would be great!

liveloveGlam: I hope you were able to try it out :) & no problem at all.. love being able to share tips & help others♥

miulux: love it! thanks for the tutorial, ur awesome!xo

liveloveGlam: I'd say my hair is 3c, 4a(in some parts) & it works like a charm for me. I haven't tried Ecostyler, but i heard its good so maybe that may give you a little more hold, plus it doesn't have alcohol :)

liveloveGlam: I'm so so happy this helped you & that it worked! Thanks for letting me know :)

liveloveGlam: Thank-you so much sweetie! I haven't made videos in awhile, but i'm back & i will certainly do some more natural hair videos :)

liveloveGlam: Thanks for the recommendation! I have tried the leave in conditioner but thats about it, & so far i love it!! Which products have you tried from that line?

Orlando Morales: Very beautiful work with matching hair. Enjoyed it.

liveloveGlam: I haven't tried this on a coarser texture then mine.. but i'm curious to know what the results would be. For a hairtype like that i would suggest doing what i did & then using a satin scarf and leaving it on for a few minutes :)

Rahmeyah Johnson: this helped thank you so much

liveloveGlam: SO with that being said, i filmed a new video 'How i smooth down my edges' & i show from beginning to end, hair out then to hair smooth & slicked down. It's a slightly different method & i hope it'll be helpful! Thanks again for your comment♥♥ (That video will be up this month!)

liveloveGlam: Dax works wonderful for me :) & thank-you for the tip!! When i went on vacation it was sooooo hot so i tried that for extra hold & it worked like a charm, thanks♥

liveloveGlam: @kameelean AWW, thank-you! I figured this method wouldn't work for everyone but as long as you find a product & method that works for you then it's all good. Also I really appreicate you showing me the love by sending my video along :) & no prob, take care!

Mari Rodriguez: Great Video..Thank You! Really Appreciate It! <3

Kimberly Spacey Major Delaney: Nice tip and I, too, love using Mixed Chicks Leave-In conditioner!

MyJessicaJ: looks good and your hair is so beautiful!!

Alpha Manifest: quick question love, do you use a blow dryer after washing your hair to make sure everything is thoroughly combed out? Then you apply the leave-in conditioner and the dax to lay it all down? If that's the case I'm totally in! This will work perfect for college. Especially on the days when I don't have the time to do anything with it. -_-" Ugh the struggle is so real.

ItsRaiden: You are beautiful. I love when women keep their natural hair.

liveloveGlam: @NialahWilliams Thanks for letting me know, next time i'll keep that in mind & not generalize everything because like you said not all gels have alcohol. Funny you mention ecostyler because someone just commented on another video recommending that to me as well so i'll have to check that out. Thanks for the comment♥

liveloveGlam: i'll def have to try that, thanks!! ♥

MsAvalon25: Great idea. I am going to try this on my edges because I am a little tired of edge controls. Thanks for the great vudeo.

liveloveGlam: Thank-you SO much for your comment, i definitely value your opinon & i took it into consideration. It's funny because i didn't slick back my hair beforehand i literally just pulled it back with the widetooth comb i showed & that was it, nothing special. BUT i can see how it can looked as if i started off with hair that was 'slicked back.'

CraziiSexyKidd: @liveloveGlam IC Fantasia is another gel that's alcohol free. It never leaves my hair crunchy/flaky when i slick part of my hair back. You just have to make sure not to mix it with certain products.

Hiatus: Thanks for the info, really helpful vid

liveloveGlam: Oh really? thanks for the tip.. i was wondering how to handle & have less of them! Thanks for sharing your routine! Have a nice night :)

Shemsa08: great video girlie! I agree the heavy products definitely work for slicking it back, what kind of sccent does the dax have?

liveloveGlam: @bailey1950 If your working up a big sweat then i would say use ecostyler(no alcohol) for more hold, but if your jogging, biking and doing basic excersizes it should be fine. Thanks for the comment!

liveloveGlam: You're welcome! So happy to have helped :)

liveloveGlam: @sunshinekissi No prob & thanks for the love girlie! & yes try it out, it works like a charm.. all the best :)

Rebecca Robert: THANKS A LOT I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS FOR A WHILE.

liveloveGlam: You're welcome! I'm happy it helped, thanks for the comment ^_^

Kinah A.: I just used this method last night

anna32sunny: OMG thank you thank you thank you thank you , i asked my mom to buy it and she did and now i use it and i works :)

Noel Blackwell: I've started using vaseline, idk why I ever stopped. It is the

Olivia A: Ahhh I needed this I ran out of my eco styler❤️

liveloveGlam: Oh yess!! A scarf really helps for extra sleekness! & i keep hearing such great things about jojoba oil.. i really want to try it. Thanks for the great tips♥

liveloveGlam: I'm so happy to hear that, thanks for telling me! Have a great day♥

liveloveGlam: @Secretluver01 Sorry i didn't tell you sooner! It's called "Minted" By Revlon. It's such a nice shade & looks so beautiful on any skintone. Should be in the $3-5 range, hope you find it :)

Mariam A: Wouldn't that cause dandruff?

OMGitsMia: This is cool, i never would have thought to use this at all

liveloveGlam: @Shemsa08 Thanks, i always appreicate your sweet comments! & it smells AMAZING... the green dax primarily smells like Bergamot (fruity, citrus). However the black dax smells horrid lol

liveloveGlam: Thanks for the comment! I hope you can try it out & see if it works for you too :)

liveloveGlam: @MakeupMagnifique No prob hunnie all the best♥ thanks for the comment!

liveloveGlam: I only realised that until after, so next time i'll definitely be careful with my words! But thank-you for the tip & comment♥

liveloveGlam: Thanks hun :)

Rose Pitts: WOW! Good old Dax! I haven't seen it or used it since childhood when my mom used to do my hair. I'll have to try that. Eco Styler does not have any alcohol in it.

YFA: Hi, what about if the side of ur hair is a bit shorter than the rest.

liveloveGlam: Aww thank-you so much!!

liveloveGlam: Nope no specific reason at all, it was just what i had at the time. Now i use Cantu shea butter, mixed chicks or macadamia.. all do a great job :)

liveloveGlam: Thanks for subbing & all the best :) What color are you thinking of dying it?

agcrafty1: I'm allergic to most gel so thank u so much for this vid

Jackie Stevenson: Awesome

imhischild29: I wish my hair would behave like that...lol...your hair is beautiful!

liveloveGlam: Thanks for the comment hun :)

liveloveGlam: Good to hear :) Have a nice day & thanks for the comment!

liveloveGlam: @rateetop Oohh sweeet, thanks for tellin me that i will have to check that out, any product without alcohol calls my name! & im luvin mixed chicks too.. thanks SO much for the comment hun♥♥

liveloveGlam: Thank-you :)

liveloveGlam: @OMGitsxmiah It works really well, you should definitely try it out :)

ImSimplyImani: your hair is so beautiful <3

Keke Ambre: Thanks so much!

prettyprincess496: Hi is there a specific reason you use both ramoni & mixed chicks?

MizzWonderrr: Nice tutorial but I think it'd be better if you'd shown us when your hair wasn't already slicked down! Also what is your hair texture? (number + letter)

liveloveGlam: Thank-you♥♥

liveloveGlam: Nope it doesn't because i am very careful with my hair :) But finger combing is a great protective alternative to a brush. Also no i'm not Somalian, I'm Carribean ^_^ P.S. if that's you in your profile pic.. your hair looks amazing, lots of volume!!

Sylvia Smith: Can you use any greese after leave in condition,? For slicking down hair.

liveloveGlam: I never heard of that brand, do you use a leave in conditioner? If yes, then it should.. any brand of leave in should do the job :)

flower040: i like your video, you did a good job

Maria Sulaiman: I'll try it out. Thanks.

liveloveGlam: Thank-you!

liveloveGlam: Hmm.. i'd say try out the green or yellowish one. Dax keeps my hair very moisturized & sleek. But what may work for one may not work for the other.. but i'd say give it a try :) What color is your hair?

liveloveGlam: I'd say that is what my hairtype is & it works for me. SO most definitely ^_^

Kilali Moe: Some leave in conditioner is bad for your hair so which do you highly suggest

liveloveGlam: Thanks for the love Mari :)

liveloveGlam: Yaa i stay away from it, far far away! The only gel i'm willing & curious to try is eco-styler because i heard such great things but that's it lol. Thanks for the comment :)

liveloveGlam: Aww thanks!! :)

liveloveGlam: Nice, thanks for sharing

Sinead Metcher: a gel thats good for natural hair is the eco styler gel with olive oil and the great thing about it ...no alcohol !! yay!! i love mixed chicks!! great video :)

liveloveGlam: Lol, no worries now i know. Thanks :)

liveloveGlam: Thanks for the love, you're awesome too♥

Shantel Williams: Does this work for any any hair type

liveloveGlam: Yup you're right, that's how my hair naturally is. I'm not fully black, my grandparents are mixed. I have Scottish in me =)

liveloveGlam: @Dreamytresses I still need to try that product out.. But wow i wish i could co-wash daily but it would be so much work. Bless you, your hair must be easy to handle! lol Thanks for the comment =)

liveloveGlam: @sugardollally Dax is the bomb right? loool, i love it! You should try it out on your beautiful curls for sure... it works like a charm, thanks for the sweet comment like always♥♥

liveloveGlam: @xxezesnoopyxx Thank you so much sweetie♥♥

Cantetinza17: Well you could also make your own flax gel.

dionne: I am worried this wont work because my texture is not a soft curl like yours and I worry about clogging my pores. I notice you don't just make a video, answer one or two questions and then disappear forever. You are Awesome!

liveloveGlam: Nice to hear this works for you too :)

KITTY KAT KATTITUDE: there are gels that really moisturize like aloe vera gel its used for sun burn and works really well on natural hair with out alcohol or flakes and also flax seed gel doesn't fake and is easy to make and all natural just fyi great hair video.

LongLiveMadison: I am trying to stay away from gel. I first realized it left flake when i scratched my hair and alot o crap fell ou of it. I was so disgusted. Now i try to stay away from it but I didnt know what to put in it. From using gel for a year straight my hair went from down my back to on my shoulders. We used a leave in conditioner on my hair but it got so thick it wouldnt go into a ponytail and noo way am i wearing my fro out. Someone please help me!!

liveloveGlam: Sorry for the very late reply!! Thats a great video idea, thanks! If i dont do that video i will message you, promise! But i really do like that suggestion. & i hope your hair comes back to its orginal state.. you just got to give it time & some TLC♥

liveloveGlam: Great point, now i'm trying to be more ingredient conscious.. no alcohol, sulfates or parabens. I'll be on the hunt for a product like that.. hopefully it exists, i'm sure it does! Just gotta find it right :) Lemme know if you find something like that before me :) i'm always up for a helpful product recommendation!

liveloveGlam: Sorry, wish i could have helped! I guess everyone has a different idea of slicked back hair. Depending on your hairtype( tight curls: 3c-4c) this method will show your waves, but if your hair is looser then there wont be waves(or very subtle ones.)

Pariscouture6: Ecostyler has NO ALCOHOL and does my hair good. However, I do co-wash daily. :)
