Prepoo is a step you MUST follow before every wash day to infuse moisture and protect hair strands prior to shampooing. I highly recommend use of penetrating oils which easily absorbs into our hair strands i.e Coconut or Olive oil.

------ What I used -----

1. Kentaste Coconut Oil - Available at local supermarkets

2. Aloe Vera Gel - http://bit.ly/2q45xLj

Hi guys welcome back to my channel today we are going to be taking it all the way back to natural haircare basics. With this video on how to do a pre book. For those who don't know a people is an oil treatment done before washing the hair. In order to infuse moisture and also make the hair more manageable during wash day so coconut oil is always my oil of choice whenever I'm doing a pre-poo and it's usually in a solid state. So I like warming it a bit and then putting it in an applicator bottle just for ease of application. I already went ahead and separated my hair into workable sections. Just to make my work a little bit more easier and, as you guys can see, this hair is absolutely dry. If you tangled up and super super dirty - and I always show you some love before washing by doing this oil treatment overnight so always start by applying the oil directly onto my scalp, just to make sure that my scalp is benefiting from all the new trends. Remember guys a healthy scalp is the key to promoting healthy hair growth, and then I worked that foil to the rest of the length of the hair. So I keep working back in making sure that I'm cutting all the hair strands and then I'll start finger detangling. My hair just to make sure that I'm getting rid of all the notes and all the shed hair once I'm done with that section, I'll just do a two strand twist and then proceed to the rest of the hair. People is very, very essential in our worship. Team and it's best done using a penetrating oil. The reason why this is important is because our hair strands actually swell and shrink up very easily during wash day when our hair is in contact with water. So this stress is actually not good for our hair strands and can easily cause breakage. So what actually happens is that the oil, once the oil is absorbed into the hair, it stops the hair strands from absorbing too much water and expanding. So this eventually prevents breakage. So I also like up like aloe vera gel on my hairline, just because the gel contains some enzymes which actually repair dead skin cells on the scalp and also helps promote hair growth. Once I'm done I'll wrap my hair with a plastic bag just to trap heat overnight and then put on a satin, bonnet and I'll, be ready for bed so quickly, just to show you guys all the amount of hair that I shed. So that's all of it! Here'S the next morning, and oh, my god, guys like coconut oil, really comes through for me, this hair is flowing super super super moist soft and look at it. It'S so shiny! So now that I'm done, I'm ready to continue on with the rest of my wash day routine, which is straight to shampooing. I'M actually curious to know how you guys do your prep or treatments which oil do you use, which steps do you follow? Please comment below and let us know so I hope this video was very helpful to you guys, don't forget to give it a big thumbs up and I'll see you guys in the next one one you got one go

Sheila Ndinda: Thumps up for more hair care tutorials!! I hope you enjoy this video and feel free to ask me any further questions in the comment section. I'd love to hear from you first, so please leave YOUR VIDEO REQUESTS BELOW!

Kady Zouk: For my hair pre pooing I use the same steps as you but I use a mixture of pure castor oil, Jamaican black castor oil, tea tree oil and few drops of peppermint oil

Victoria Wambui: Great vid Sheila...Love it! . I switched from prepooing with oil to prepooing with a conditioner.I find that works better for my low porosity hair as oil just tends to sit on the hair and goes not get absorbed.

JOYCE NYINGI: I have never tried a prepoo. I will definately incorporate it. It's actually simple. Thanks Sheila. By the way, do you do henna treatments? If yes, I would love a video on it. ☺☺

Pearl Walters: Thanks girl for this video! So helpful. I usually use coconut + moringa oil and also aloe vera plant for my prepoo

For my prepoo I use aloe vera gel on my scalp to get rid of product build up and moisturize my scalp, then I use jbco mixed with almond oil on the hair strands twist it all up in sections, wrap with a plastic bag and straight to bed ! I’m curious though, how long does it take you to apply your prepoo? I feel like I’m so slow at doing my hair Great video, thank you !

Diana Mukuna: Hey Sheila which shampoo can I use during wash day I have been advised to use one that doesn't have sulphate because it causes hair to shred a lot and the one I currently have has it and I noticed my hair has really reduced in volume for the past four months especially at the back

Quest-able: GOD bless you all

Likho Zibaya: can i use moringa oil??

Your favorite Oompa Loompa: I heard that when u put oil on ur hair it doesn’t allow any other moisture to go through and since oil and water doesn’t mix how does this go when it’s time to wash ur hair? Like from ur experience, when u are washing ur hair does it Greek like the water washes out the oil or does it just stay in their and feel silky the whole time cause if it can wash out and the ur actual hair gets the washing from shampoo conditioner and stuff that’ll be good but idk it contradicts itself.

Johanna Uchiha: Where did you get it, the coconut oil I mean.
