Leveraging Product Knowledge To Suggest Take Home Hair Care

Selling product is not something every hairdresser or barber is good at or comfortable with. The first part to being successful at this is to first know a lot about the product you're trying to sell. Understand its features and benefits, use it on yourself and clients to have a better understanding of how it works and really get to know the product you're selling before you suggest it.

Hi, I'm Ivan Sood welcome to jatai Academy j8e AI dotnet on the web and welcome to another video in our continuing series of Education and information that we share right here for you today in this video, we want to talk about gaining and leveraging product knowledge to Suggest and recommend professional take home, hair care products in your shop and in your salon you know, product knowledge contributes a vital amount of money, a vital contribution to your success and to your bottom line, you want to use, suggest and recommend professional take home products. Every client every time, but you know what that's easy for me to tell you to do it and it's hard to do it it's hard to keep on task and remember to do it it's hard to know what to say it's hard to know what to recommend Product knowledge is a tough game. I want to offer you a couple of tips to help you build your product, knowledge tip number one is I'm going to use to tie healthy luxury shave, cream tip number one product knowledge best comes from two places. It comes from reading the product, jatai healthy luxury shave, cream, professional men, clog-free refreshing non foaming, two-ounce the front of the package. If all you know is the front of the package, you will know what you need to know to use and talk about the product. A little more information turn it around hit the back of the package. Now we dig deep, we've got no blade. Buildup easy rinsing saves time, extends the life of your blades, easy to outline your beard and mustache, because it stays clear and it's non foaming lots of great benefits here the front and the back of the package. People spent time marketing departments spend energy getting the package right use the package, that's where your first product knowledge comes from, that's basic product knowledge, and then we have what I call usable product knowledge, usable product. Knowledge is defined as product knowledge gained by using the product. That'S why we call it that usable product knowledge. So if you really want to know what's in here, you got to get it open, you got ta get it in your hand, you got ta, get it on your face in the case of a shave cream or in your hair. In the case of a gel or whatever, it is you're using them, wherever you're using it on you've, got to use the product to truly know and understand the product, no better way to learn. Even if it's the wrong product for you as an example beard and moustache moisturizer softens, smoothes and controls, I don't have a beard and I don't have a mustache. I should still use the product. I should get it out of the tube. I should get it in. My hand, I should get it on my face. I could put it in the hair on my arm. I can put it in the hair on my head to see how it's gon na I got a high up shampoo. I have a shower. I have a shampoo bowl in the shop, it's not permanent, but it's a way that you gain knowledge and information. So number one is reading. The labels number two is usable product knowledge, product knowledge gained by using product. The next thing I want to talk about an important concept is something I call the core item concept. I have three products here. I have daily facial moisturizer, I have shaving cream and I have beard and moustache groom and control and beard moustache care product. Now three different products: three different uses, they're, not for everybody. If you don't have a beard mustache, as we said, you won't use that one. If you have a beard and mustache and you don't shave - you might shave a little here and there so you could use it. But if you don't shave you don't shave, you don't use that. So let's talk about daily facial moisturizer. Everybody can use this. If you don't have a beard you're putting on moisturizer, if you have a beard, you're still moisturizing your neck and your skin and your face and your forehead and around your eyes and everywhere else. I like to use what I call the core item concept. The core item concept says pick one item that is more universal, something that everybody can use. Maybe it's a shampoo in this case I'm suggesting a moisturizer. Everybody can use no, that product, it's the core. It'S the center of your product. Knowledge know that product extremely well and suggest it to everyone. Every single client that sits in your chair use it on them, tell them about it and offer it for purchase. That'S your core item and then what you do. Is you build around the core? You add other items to the core. Maybe next it is shave cream. A lot of people shave, everybody that doesn't have a beard and mustache. Even the people with beard. Mustaches still do some shaving, but my point is add that to your repertoire, learn about it, use it get to know it and build around the core. Maybe later it becomes the beard and mustache treatment and care product. You add that, to the core over time you've built up an entire universe of product. We don't expect you to know everything about everything. From the very beginning, start small and build and making sales and getting to know products and using products successfully, will build your level of comfort and confidence and when you're, comfortable and confident you will sell, you will build business and you will grow in the professional beauty And barber industry, that's what you ty Academy is all about.
