In this video I look at how to care for your hair in the winter particularly if its kinky, curly, coiled, dry or damaged. I look at co washes, butters, henna, deep conditioning, oils and scalp exfoliation.

Hey guys as Cody proverbs, I'm coming at you with my winter hair care, regimen video about blinking time right. I have been on YouTube for how long years have over flower' winter hair care regimen. No, I've only ever put one regiment, video and you guys have been asking for a winter care, regimen video for absolutely ages. So I thought this year. I would actually come out with one. So this video is in collaboration with the stunningly gorgeous Kelsey janae. She does hair, she does beauty videos and she does lots of stuff on haircare in particular, she has had super super long hairs. She'S had colored hair dye there, like she's, tried a few colors and recently she's cut her hair and yeah. She shares really wonderful styling tips and tips on how to nourish and take care of your hair, she's gon na be doing a winter regiment. Video as well so be sure to check her out, and also she has got an e book coming out. Hello, so make sure you look out for that without further ado. Let'S do it. When I started on this hair journey, I actually started because I was so frustrated. My hair would literally only literally grow up to there and it would never ever go past that in my entire life until my 20s, when I started my hair regimen, I literally never saw my length go beyond that, but consistency in hair care and good hair care Practices, gentle handling of hair, etc has helped me to grow my hair down to what I believe is actually now tailbone. That'S hair, I'm just going to show you guys real quick here. It is from the front bear in mind my hair used to just stop there. The shrinkage is hella real how low that's all I'm gon na say like that's what it looks like and actually yeah that's what it is. I know so annoying so I've tried enough. Let'S do this as far as my regimen I I mean this right now is a washing book, but really entry, I'm over wash and gos because of the detangling time that you will inherit when you do a wash and go so I'm going to be cutting down. My washing clothes too once a month, so I'm going to be doing three weeks where I do twists and then a twist out following the twists and I'm going to be doing and washing coat just one week in the month and basically the reason for that is Very very simple: when you twist your hair and allow it to air dry in these twists, it locks in an unbelievably large amount of moisture compared to if you do a wash and go. Certainly, the case has been for me that 3 4 5 days after I put my hair in twists. I can still feel the moisture as I touch my hair, but with a wash and go within 2 days. I need to apply a leave-in or moisturizer and spritz, etc. Hello case and point you see, guess dry really quickly and really that's not ideal in the winter months, for you to have your hair, like all blowing in the wind anyway, with like a frost and and all that sort stuff. So basically, I'm gon na be putting my hair in two twists, the majority of the time, and it really really helps with my detangling as wearing a three week. Rotation of cleansing without shampoo and Kensing with shampoo in the fourth week. So without shampoo, I'm gon na be Co, washing and also using my Ross or clay and I'm experimenting unexplained yeah you can see. I pretty much knew done with my Russell play it's up to here in the packet. I'M experimenting with Russell clay with Shekhar Chi and moment. Actually, so, if you guys are interested in Rasul, clays, Shikoku wash or cleanser tutorial I'll be happy to share that with you guys. But basically, I find that the Rasul clay is very, very strengthening for my hair and it also conditions and cleanses all. At the same time, I also go wash my hair as well, which is basically where you use a conditioner as opposed to a shampoo yeah. I'M going to be using wrassle or co-wash for 3 weeks out of the month and then in the fourth week I'm going to be cleansing with a shampoo which i think is really important because as Naturals we use so much by way of oils and products. And it really can build up, particularly if you're, using anything with silicones in it, and I just need to be cleansing. My hair recently I got the Camille rose and natural sweet, ginger cleansing, rinse and honestly I've really been loving it as sulfate free, obviously, and it has some really good ingredients, caster and aniseed and yeah. That'S what I've been using. My hair feels like almost squeaky clean, but not like to the point where it's just like feeling stripped, so I feel like my hair and my scalp get cleansed and that's really important. Hello feels so good literally. If you could use this before every wash day. I recommend it if not a couple of times in a week, really important for exfoliating your scalp, because just like everywhere else in our body, our scalp actually gets build up, which covers the follicles. I'Ve said this before I've done an in-depth review on this invited by two good Scout massager. You get buildup on your scalp and you need to exfoliate to remove that seen some Naturals, with literally shingles, of like dead skin, on their scalp and with a good, massage and good circular motions. Their scalp is completely transformed and that's what you need for healthy growing hair. So that's going to be an important part of my regimen deep conditioning, of course, is really important. I do not shampoo my hair or cleanse my hair, even if it's with a conditioner, without following up with a deep condition. It'S really really really important, like the most important thing, and it's it's important for you to in your regimen, have protein and to have moisture. Okay, there has to be a balance. Some people are protein sensitive. So you know you can approach with caution, but as far as I'm concerned, I do switch between my protein and moisture deep conditioners. You guys would have seen my review of the classic bell or um conditioner, absolutely love this conditioner. It has proteins in that have been hydrolyzed, in other words, they've been made into amino acids that can actually get into your hair shop and really strengthen so and the slip. This is amazing. The amount that you get out of using a small portion, the amount of detangling power and nourishing power you get from just a small amount of this, which goes a really long way, is amazing. So I use this as my protein treatment and I use this now once a month. I'Ve recently also discovered the Camille Rose. Naturals Camille Rose Naturals Al Gore renewed deep conditioner. This has got cocoa and mango butter, Annette and aloe vera, which you guys know my hair, loves and sheer butter, and things like that. The first time I heard about Camille Rose Naturals was in the conversation I had with frou girl Ginny. When we first met - and I was like what is your or top tip like what is your go to must-have product - and she told me - come elros natural, she was talking about the butters and she's talking about how the range all the items in the range that She tried were really deeply moisturizing and actually, I think, Camille Rose. Naturals is known for being very, very moisturizing so that my friend is my go-to. So yeah I've been using this for moisture and I've been using this for protein. I use this three weeks in the month and then I will use this on the fourth month, and each of these is really important to maintain moisture and strength balance so yeah. I found out to me that my hair is super. Super super dry, as the weather has changed. It is generally really really dry and one of the things that really helps with that is, if I do a pre shampoo treatment, so I'm nourishing my hair before I cleanse it. So what I might do is mix some olive oil with some honey and coconut oil and avocado oil, and literally just let that sit. I can do that with a I did. A DIY hothead, I literally use a Toby from Primark socks, filled them with rice, attach them to the inside and put that in the microwave, and that literally, is what I use to keep my head warm so that the oils etc can really penetrate and those three Oils that I mentioned or excuse me are three of the only oils that I can think of that actually penetrate the hair, as opposed to sit on the hair. It'S great when oils sit on the hair because it seals in your moisture, but you also want Orioles that can actually get under the outer layer of the hair and really nourish from the inside and of course, as I mentioned before, ad ek is packed with it. Rich in antioxidants and coconut oil also helps to keep the protein in your hair. One of the major reasons for hair damage is the loss of protein and keratin from the hair, and actually coconut oil prevents that so really really important. So pre pooing with that plus honey, which actually puts moisture into your hair as well and nourishes because your hair loves high sugar content. I do that before I shampoo and then afterwards my hair is loving. It a lot more nourished and feeling a lot less dry. So if that would be my top tip as far as preparing before you cleanse your hair now as long as you have not put henna into your deep conditioner and you're, not doing something like a henna gloss, then I would strongly suggest that you actually apply heat Because, as I mentioned before, it lifts up the cuticles of the hair, where some of the nourishing benefits can get into your hair, definitely just from your body heat when you increase the heat, the cuticles of your hair. If you imagine they're all laid down, they go up like that and then the moisture is able to go in and then your cold rinse and you shut it down. Will you put some aloe vera and it shuts down? It retains a lot a lot. A lot more moisture, so absolutely essential part of your winter regimen should be using heat. It could be that you put a hot towel on heater. It could be that you make my homemade hot head or otherwise by a dryer or steamer, but I really do recommend it. And you know if all else fails. Just put your deep conditioner in whilst during the shower, just allow the steam to really lift the cuticles of your hair, so I would say, really really important in the winter time. You guys know already that I massive fan of henna body, art, quality, henna off course. I'M gon na be in the weeks that I use my moisturizing deep conditioner, I'm going to be using my henna tea three times in the week, just to be maintaining the strength of my hair, henna oil and deep conditioners were absolute game changes in retaining length and Seriously, maybe henna was the most important thing in the maintaining length. I'Ve found, though, that using the straight masks and the glosses can be so messy, and but now I've got a lot less messy approach and, honestly, all the same benefits of actually using a henna mud mask is in my strengthening tea. It gives my hair just a slight brown hue, but I really enjoy that and really is mostly visible in the sunlight by the way guys by the way. Last year I did a henna hair growth challenge, and so many of you guys really enjoyed that, and so many of you guys were like we wish we'd known in advance that you're gon na be doing one. So we wouldn't have put our hair away and weave. So we could have participated, so I'm just giving you a heads up now January's around the corner. I'M gon na be doing another hair growth challenge, but this time I'm gon na be using a hair growth aid as well, and that kind of leads me on to my next point I have made you guys know. I make henna infused coconut oil all day every day and I use that as a pre-poo or to leave in my hair or in my deep conditioner. I just love using this oil, but I don't like a few extra ingredients which should really stimulate growth, and I want you guys to come along on the journey with me. So we can all share our before and after photos of using this hair oil. I'M going to be sharing recipe in an upcoming videos to make sure that you are subscribed, make sure you hit that funny-looking bell at the top of the page. If you go to my page, and you see that bell, you will get a notification of all my videos, so when this video comes up, which should be in the near future of the recipe and how to use this, then you'll be notified but yeah. I am also going to be including hair growth aids in my winter regimen. Some of you guys know I've had a baby in the last year and a bit, and it is crazy when you have a toddler when you've got a newborn, trying to maintain your natural hair and they've been loads of times. When really I should've pre pool. I really I should've detangle really should have applied to 11 and HV. I have not always done it, and my hair has has shown me the consequences of it. I'M going to have to trim my ends. I mean it's been a while, since I've had a trim, but you know I'm gon na have to cut off an inch or two and that's gon na. Take me from tailbone length up to hip or maybe even waist length. And I want to get back to my current length as quickly as possible, so I'm going to be using growth, aids MSM, I'm going to be taking orally and I'm going to be using my hair growth oil on my hair and I'm gon na wait to start Taking the hammer set until we do the challenge, all together: castor oil as well, castor oil. If you've been on my channel for a minute, you know this has been an absolute game changer in my journey as one of the oils that actually convinced me that I could go natural because it helped me to transition and manage my new growth. My new growth was super defined and, like really really soft, I'm really really manageable, because I was applying this regularly to my scalp and do my twists using this butter and then, at the end of my twists, I use a generous amount of castor oil. Yes, I think so pretty much everything I wanted to say about my hair care regimen. I hope you found it useful. It would mean the world to me guys if you would thumbs up this video if you enjoyed it, if you found any helpful tips in it whatsoever and also I really appreciate you guys, subscribing to my channel, I have got a growth challenge coming up and also I'M hoping to do a clean, eats challenge as well just to kind of get into shape in the new year. I'M thinking it might be paleo, but you know clean eats, is gon na, be the main thrust of it, and also I've got my hair growth oil recipe. Video coming up soon, please, let me know below if there's any particular videos you would like to see. Also thinking about doing a bit more vlogging on my channel family and just you know, girls night out sort of videos as well. So if you're interested in that, please let me know below I like to kind of get a temperature for what you guys would like to see so yeah bye,

Fine Natural Hair and Faith: I love the CRN line... The CurlMaker + Fresh Curls + Curl Milk is awesome for moisture in your wash and gos and twists. The coconut water line is amazing as well. Only product I didn't care for from them is the twisting butter

Tammy Garrett-Williams: Hi CP! Thank you for sharing your healthy hair growth tips. I'm on my journey to TBL hair. In this video, you briefly touched on not using Henna whilst doing a deep conditioner with a gloss under the heating cap. Can you please elaborate on the why the above mentioned is not recommended? I desperately need to know bc that's what I've been doing, am I setting myself up for a setback by combining Henna with a deep conditioner under the heating cap?

Bri Marie: I love the shrinkage, it tricks people.

Monalisa Russ: So much great information. Glad to know you're sticking with the Crece Palo too. Your hair is amazing. Looking forward to the challenge. Thanks again . Merry Christmas!!

PamperedKoils: twists so really keep in the moisture as opposed to washngo and braidouts. i definitely agree about this! although my twistouts look like my wash n go it still locks in that moisture much better. after experimenting with my hairstyles this summer i've decided i will just be doing twists and twisouts during the winter since i know the winter will be harsh to mild cold weather

Rocio Castillo Savelesky: With you on it all darling! I have so much breakage on my ends so hopefully this all can help. Love love love ur videos Rem!

Anita Norris: Definitely into the clay and shikakai tutorial as well. Also, have you ever tried Aritha for cleansing your hair? As a tea or otherwise? I'm tempted to make a tea out of it since I feel like I need a deeper clean than my rhassoul clay cleanser.

Orwa Ibrahim: I really really like the way you explain your routine. I will definitely pick some advices for the fall who's coming soon. I am looking forward to have long and bouncy curls like yours ^_^ <3

mjgarner123: I would be interested in knowing more about the less messier process for Henna. I absolutely love Henna and I think it has assisted in growth. Also look forward to the hair growth oil recipe and growth challenge. The clean eats challenge also sounds interesting. A good way to start 2016. May you and your family have a blessed Christmas and New Year. <3

Flowering Creativity: yay! another hair growth challenge. can't wait to see ur hair growth oil recipe video. i've been using my henna and amla infused oil, and I'm living the result. thanx for sharing.❤

ISayToMyself: Your videos are awesomeeeeee!!!!! So much helpful information. Thank you.

Soleil: I too love henna but have cut back on the masques and glosses.. Too time consuming! I recently uploaded a winter hair regimen but have been on the hunt for a strengthening deep conditioner. I'll definitely try spritzing with the henna tea more often. Love the vids!

VERONICA GLOVER: I am going to join this challenge. My hair was damaged from coloring it too many times to get the right color and has not ben the same since. That was over 5 years ago. I keep trimming and cutting but the texture is different in the crown of my hair (the part that goes bald in men giving them the look of a donut) and will not grow past 5 inches. Protein treatments are not helping, I think my hair is just super dry, I need help! I used to have long curly/wavy hair now it just looks stringy and blah! I hope this helps! subscribed and notifications are on!

Lullita Lanham: Hello Curly. I absolutely love your channel. I have been following your hair growth regimen now for about a month and I've seen an improvement in my hair. I was wondering if It would be good to add henna and amla to my crece pelo deep conditioner.

MsFlame: You have a lovely and soothing voice. I love your super long videos because they calm me.

Felicia Mesadieu: loving your curls...Thank you for sharing.

ladynefertitibk: Your hair has grown so much. You have a really good regimen.

Kaycee MIL: Looking forward for a winter video with Ayurvedic this 2017.

Regina King: So excited about the hair growth challenge

Live, Love & Learn Naturally: I Love Kelsey and Love your videos too. Loving that hair and makeup.. Just showed my 6yr old your hair and said I want my hair like that. She said why did you cut your hair all off then? I had to big chop xx

leedda: love this and all you videos. Very good information as well.

Mina A: Hey Hun, I would love to join your challenge. I've just had a major set back, I had to cut off 6 inches and still counting. Two years ago when I was in 6th form I was extremely anaemic thus losing most of my hair and now that it's growing back you can see the thickness at the top and how thin it is at the ends which is why I'm cutting it off looks like I'm transitioning from relaxed Loool. Anyways can you make a video about how iron is important in our diets? I don't want others to experience the same set back. Thank you hunny.

Jazmin Jordan: Amazing natural hair winter regimen! Your hair will grow back quickly after getting that trim. I'm still at armpit length when my hair is stretched. Pre-pooing every wash has really helped my hair for over 2 years. I think I'm going to do hot oil treatments once or twice a month to help my dry hair during this winter season. I deep condition every wash too, but haven't done so in about two weeks since I'm in need of a deep conditioner. So I have been using a SheaMoisture conditioner I have.

KrickettwithaK: Please share the rhassoul clay/shakaikai cleanser

2ruBee: Hi ... seasons greetings . I pray you and all your loved ones are happy and well. Interested to know how often you trim? There are so many opinions on this, but, you look into the core of the matter and you defo have excellent results (May God bless, protect and preserve you and your hair, ameen)! Thanks

Kourtney B.: When do you apply the hair growth oil to your scalp? Daily? Weekly?

Yasmin Jaime: Wisdom talking with regards to the twists/shampoo. I've been asking God for wisdom with regards to my hair God bless X

Isis4love: how often are you using the oil and how are you incorporating it?

Marie Pardieu: I would love to see the shikakai and rhassoul clay tutorial. How do you mix them. I was thinking about that.

Pamela Lewis: When do you use a protein treatment? Before you wash? Before you condition?

Luna Mysteria: Do you believe in terminal length? What hair style did you wear throughout the majority of your healthy hair journey?

Armanda DeVeiga Monteiro: Hey quick question when you Co wash once a week do you also deep condition after that ?

Amani Kafele: yes please do the tutorial on the clays..

Pamela Lewis: Does the clay mask treatmemt serve as a wash or a deep conditioner or both?

What The Kink: I wish my shrinkage was that long! lol. My hair is down my back and shrinks to my shoulders...smh...

Alicia Grant: You spoke about retaining moisture. Have you ever tried Shima oil on your hair. I have just discovered it and it gives me so much moisture I do the LOC method with it

Nadia X: I hope you see this, I’m just wondering do you still use the crecepelo? If yes how can i order it in American currency?

JaiProdz: Yes!!! love these long videos

كروشيه ام حسوني الفراشه asia crochet butterfly: a clay tutorial honey please
