What'S going on gems, especially those who caught this live at the premiere now, if you guys have been in the natural hair community for long enough, you are fully acquainted with natural 85 and her new hair care line. Melanin hair care. However, a new fan favorite also came out with another line: miss taraji p henson. So i already know why y'all clicked on this video, i know what you're here for today, we are going to run both of these products through the ringer with washtech. At the same time, yep you heard that right, melanie haircare gets this side of my head, while taraji p, henson's product line gets this size whoa. What happened? Why is this recording us? Oh? No! No! No! No! This is live. This is live not in my body, starting out with a full wash day and ending with curlformers. First up is the shampoo right. So it's a couple days later, i've obviously taken the curlformers out of my hair, but while i'll take these curlformers out of my hair, i'm going to go through each and every one of these products and tell you which one i like the most and why so Starting up first are the shampoos, so the tph, the honey fresh was it was. It was okay, the scent kind of smelled like church, lady didn't love it, but didn't really hate it other than that. I do think that it clarified my hair, but considering that it was also a moisturizing shampoo, my hair did feel a little bit coated. When i looked at the ingredients, i just saw a bunch of chemicals which isn't always my favorite thing, because i'm more of a you know on the natural side. But you know it is what it is if it works for you go ahead and try it. So the very first time that i used melanin hair care, my hair - was extremely strict, but not this time. Let me tell you why, because this time i actually followed the directions correctly and applied it just to my roots and then worked the excess down. The strength of my hair strengthen my hair down the length of my hair. Y'All knew what i meant anyway uh this time. I still felt like it was kind of stripping, but it was mostly cleansing to my hair. It was it's a clarifying shampoo. Now the tph kind of had like a church lady, take me to the altar scent which isn't bad. But to me i didn't really like it like perfume sense. They are nice at first and on me, after a while, they started to stink. So this started to stink on me, that's probably just me and my body chemistry don't take. You know take that with a grain of salt, because i'm like that with every product with a lot of perfume in it and everything smelled like this. So take me to the water, you know, you know what i'm saying i didn't hate it. I don't think other people will hate it. I think that this is probably um a scent that people will like, but it just doesn't work for me now back to the melon and hair care. They actually have more of a peppermint smell to it. I actually prefer smells like this over perfume smells only because of whatever reason, my weird body, chemistry just doesn't like perfumey smells in my products now, for the part, you've all been waiting for which one of these do i, like best when it comes to the shampoo And the winner is yeah, i already know i was gon na say, melody, hair care, mainly because of the all-natural ingredients in this that was kind of like the determining factor for me. I felt like it cleansed my hair, much better it didn't, it did, leave it stripped. We got ta, be honest. There did leave it stripped. However um i feel like that's what the deep conditioner is for. That'S what all the other things are for and if i have heavy product on my hair, i'm reaching for this guy, so melanin hair care wins for the shampoo category. So here we have the tph mask on moisturizing conditioner mask aka, a deep conditioner versus the melanin multi-use softening leave-in conditioner. Now, of course, this is just a leave-in conditioner, but it is multi-use, so you can use it as a deep conditioner melanin. Hair care does not have a deep conditioner at the time of making this video, so this was all that i had to use, and i was really eager to see how it matched up to this one. So the tph mask on as soon as i put it on it was super thick. It was like a really really um thick consistency and it coated my strands. I kind of it really made me confident to feel like okay. This is actually going to be moisturizing to my strands now. On the other hand, the melanin hair care, the multi-use leave-in conditioner. All these neat nicknames lord, have mercy jesus um. When i put that on at first, it felt a little sticky, which was weird because i usually don't have that sensation um. It felt a little sticky but, as i know, sticky i, why was it sticky? I don't know i don't know um, but when i ended up working it through my hair um, i didn't have that problem anymore. It actually smoothened out and was actually kind of nice um. I'M still trying to figure out why i'm sticky, because that's just not now, can you guess which one of these is my favorite. If you guessed melon hair care, you are wrong. You are wrong because i actually prefer the tph mask on, and i'm going to tell you why. So the one thing that that caught my attention with the tph mask on is that it was so heavy that it allowed my hair to um. Really, i don't know it's kind of odd, like when my hair feels a little way down with the deep conditioner. I always feel like the moisture is getting into it. Rather, if it feels kind of light and airy a lot of times, my cuticles are still open and they're, just like hey, what's going on and my hair doesn't absorb the moisture. So i didn't have that issue with this at all. I felt like my cuticles were shut, my hair felt moisturized and i actually kind of like the tph. It went out again well. At least you had the decency to wait till i took my bonnet off this time. Okay, you know what all right, let me see if the chat can actually see us, you know better better, yet better, yet uh y'all y'all. Just let me know if this works yeah yeah. Let me know if this comes back and i just realized i'm supposed to be taking my hair down, i'm supposed to be taking my hair down and the entire time. I was just rambling about these products. I was supposed to be taking my hair down all right. So next up is the leave-in conditioner. Once again, returning and the tph rider died, detangling conditioner, so the tph right or die uh detangling conditioner just had to put this out there. I'M probably just gon na be looking crazy for a little bit until we get to the end and i'll take my hair down, but you know just bear with me anyway: the tph ride or die leave-in conditioner is actually a detangling leave-in conditioner. So i didn't really feel like it gave me that much moisture didn't feel like it. It helped my cuticles close, although they already were closed um i just didn't. I didn't really feel a difference with this. It went on super light. I kind of feel like this. Might be like an everyday thing that you just kind of spray on your hair once a day and not necessarily a heavy heavier product for wash day, but it was okay. So this, of course, is an actual leave-in. It'S meant to be used as a leave-in, and i felt like this went a lot better on my hair than using it as a deep conditioner. Just because i mean i feel like it says, leave-in conditioner on there like that's what you're supposed to use it for. It'S not a deep conditioner, it's a leave-in, so when i used it correctly, it felt great on my hair. So how did these two match up? Well, my favorite is melanin hair care. I just felt like it helped moisturize my hair. My hair just felt my hair. Just felt better with this honestly when i used the tph, i i didn't feel like i didn't feel a difference. You know i didn't feel like my hair uh changed at all or felt more moisturized. It was just me spritzing my hair and and smelling like church. Lady, although that's not a bad thing, i know i keep saying church lady, but so moving on. Probably the funniest thing that i have ever experienced on camera was the tph glow up pure oil blend and, of course, the melanin multi-use pure oil blend now y'all saw the video y'all saw me struggling trying to figure out if this was supposed to be a solid Or not, and it is actually a semi-solid. It'S supposed to be like that. I went on the website to see um exactly what it says and it says brightest day semi-solid like that's what i get for just hitting add to cart, but considering that it was a semi-solid, it wasn't the easiest to spread throughout my hair um. I had to kind of put it in my hand. First of all, i had to figure out how to get it out because it was like there was like a chunk that was like stuck in here, which was really off-putting, but whatever um. So i had to you know, kind of spread it in my hands and warm it up a little bit before. I could put it through my hair um, but it was. It was a bit of a chore to get it through my hair uh, but my hair felt okay, i mean it didn't you know, didn't really feel coated uh mind you, because it was probably so hard to get it through my strands, but you know, like i Said it was just when i, when i think about oil, i don't think that it's going to be semi-solid um or at least if it is solid, that i can warm it up kind of like how coconut oil is. But yeah i mean it was okay. I didn't didn't really like the smell it. It smelled a little stale which just added to me being like that i get a bad batch, but i think it's supposed to be like that, but the verdict is still kind of out on this. Just because part of me feels like this might have been like stale, like i'm looking for i'm looking for an expiration date. Now, the melanin is obviously a liquid and it was much easier to distribute throughout my strands. My hair felt really good, which i actually don't like using oils um the first time i used this. I didn't like it, but this time when i used it correctly in the shower, i actually really like this oil. My cuticles felt really smooth my hair felt good. I was sitting in the shower like oh, i stand corrected. Okay, i mean i kind of don't have to tell you this one, this one's a no-brainer. I mean once once this came out as a chunk. I was just like this is automatic wind for melanin. So last up are the twisting creams. We have melanin twist, elongating style cream versus the twist and set moisture rich twisting cream and to be completely honest with you, i really didn't see a difference between either one of these. While i was putting in my curlformers. They both were really rich, um really thick and they went on just fine. Neither one of them, i feel, will replace my flaxseed gel when i'm doing curlformers like i feel like i'm always going to need flaxseed gel um, but we will see how it turns out. Once i take my curlformers down so without further ado, i will no longer be looking crazy or maybe i will um and finally take my curlformers down and see which one um see which side uh comes out the best. So once again, this side is melon. Hair care and this side is tph twist and what's your name, what is your name twist and sit and by the way i um i had planned on doing a twist out for this, because i feel like a twist out, is actually a better indicator. However, my hair has been unruly and twist outs and i will explain to you why, towards the end of this season, of what's been going on with my hair um but yeah yes, i decided to do curlformers just to bypass looking too crazy. So this is the melanin hair care from what i can see in this monitor. It looks. It looks great i kind of wish this was elongated a little bit more. But that's! Okay! That'S! Okay! So this side is tph. Oh, oh well! Okay well hold on hold on here, hold on here all right, so i feel, like my curls, didn't hold very well with the tph um. They are just doing their own thing. Okay, yeah there's a big difference and really i i kind of appreciate when my hair is a little more elongated, but not like this, not like not like this, because this is just look at that. Look at that. I don't really know what to think about this because, like yeah like it didn't my curls aren't holding wow. This is okay, so this is kind of weird i wasn't expecting this at all, so this side is much more elongated, but i kind of feel like my curls aren't as uniform or else this side. My curls are uniform um, but they are. They are much more shriveled than i was expecting so hey i mean both of them. Um left my hair feeling moisturized, like i said before they went on very well. For the most part, it seems like the tph didn't hold a curl as well as the melon and hair care, but other than that, the more important stuff my hair feels moisturized, it looks nice and silky doesn't seem like it frizzed out, which was my big concern. So when it comes to the versus battle between tph and melanin hair care, the winner is none other than melanin hair care. There were some products that i preferred from tph like the um, the hair mask and whatnot, but for the most part, if you give me a choice between chemicals - and you know the more all-natural stuff i'm always going for all-natural like i said, i really really did Not like the scent from tph, but that is wholeheartedly wholeheartedly my personal subjective opinion, just because i don't like the smell after a while, but everybody's different melanin, hair care, just overall just feels better for me to use, even though it's a little more pricey, i can Always just chew over to ulta to get the stuff and again i support small businesses. Y'All already know. I love me some whitney some natural 85, so um. So i'm happy to support. I love me some taraji p2 as well, but i i just prefer the melanin over uh tph for the most part. Oh, oh my god. Oh thank god. That'S over with you think this messed up. The video i don't know listen. All i know is that i need a drink and i don't even drink anymore. So as always, thank you guys so much for watching stay inspired, stay empowered and stay beautiful. Seven days a week we put up points who's, even keeping the score. Let'S run it singing on a different track:

vicky fox: I missed you, so glad you're back and bringing us the qUaLiTy content!

Kim Garcia: The twins are back y’all. I’m here for it. I haven’t tried either product but heard good things about melanin, 2nd time for TPH and the outcome was the same. Thanks for your honesty.

Shenette: So glad that you are back! I haven't tried TPH, but I love Melanin HC. Remember though, MHC is not technically more expensive because you get double the size that you normally get from products. Love your videos! Came for the hair content... stayed for the editing and production. Don't be mistreating Riley though ma'am!

Eve Favorse: They’re back! It would take a lot to turn me against Melanin Haircare! I love that stuff! So glad you and Riley are back

Jes 48: Great video as usual!! I haven’t tried either one, I have high porosity, high strung, crazy hair I am slow to try new products but I have heard nothing but good things about Melanin Hair Care.

Sandy B: I'm such a #MelaninBabe! My hair loves Whit's products. This video was an epic return!! You are just a beautiful soul (with beautiful hair) and I hope many blessings continues to come your way.

Antoinette: NOT in my BONNET!!!

S Hicks: This was a great review!! I’ll have to try the deep conditioner with TPH just bc I’ve looking for one. But I agree with the scent. I do have the clarifying shampoo but it’s not my go to! Riley needs her whoop though stressing Jill out! I’ll have that drink for you though

Cheryl Powell: I appreciate your comparing the two product lines. I love learning.

Sable 711: Hello! Sorry I missed the live but very good to see you oh, it's been awhile! I'm going to have to eventually try melanin as soon as my stash gets low! :-) I like the elongation but I can see where there's hardly any curl to it.

Wanda S: I'm so happy your back! I use all of Melanin Hair Care products..Love them! I can wait for Ep2 Much Love! ❤️❤️

Angie Gray: It’s good to get a little clue about high and low porosity. But I’d love to hear more about this, as I feel perpetually clueless about the difference.

S Maxwell: Thank you for this review .. yes I luv the Melanin products and also use the leave in as a leave in … I have not tried the TPH products yet but may have to give that DC a try..

NEFERTITI323: Peppermint oil also has been known to stimulate hair growth

MzAmie1127: Thanks for the side by side comparison! I am enjoying all of your content and natural hair journey. Are actually 1 of 2 physically or only for YouTube content? Have you already done a "Traci Ellis Ross - Patterns" versus "Whitney - Melanin " product review? If not can you please do it? Also have you tried terraessentials clay wash? Naptural85 recommended it before her 1st pregnancy. I am curious to hear if you like it, or like it better than the home made bentonite clay mixture

Trice G: I love your videos. They are so fun to watch & your editing skills are A1!

Eve Favorse: Melanin Haircare is my jam! Love Tariji…as an actress but I’ll stick to Melanin Haircare!

Melvina G Davis: Missed your videos, glad you are back!!

Carolyn Hamlett: Great video! As always your hair looks beautiful . I like the Melanin products better . Thanks for sharing

Anita Wallace: I’m always spraying stuff in my eye. I find finger pump sprays so hard to use, especially with slippery hands.

naturalnessity: Haha, I thought i was the only one wearing massive bonnets. Good lord, that bonnet had a life of its own! lol. You ride and die for melanine hair care...but i get you though all natural is always best. And the pricepoint is not massively different. Your hair has grown though! That twist out in the beginning looked great! The curls in the end as well. I have never tried curl formers. It seems to straighten the hair nicely. Maybe I should give it a go. Your hair overall looked very healthy and shiny in the end.

Eve Favorse: Melanin Haircare is my jam! Love Tariji…a s an actress but I’ll stick to Melanin Haircare!

Jamaican Beauty: Lol.. you need a drink but you don't even drink anymore. You're the reason I started using Melanin months ago. I love their products.

Charline Charleston: ouu! Can you maybe try different lines of hair products but without the label on them? Without being able to read the ingredients or the brand it’s from I think it will be really interesting to see which one you would prefer!

Anita Wallace: MHC comes in pretty large containers. Did you compare the price per ounce?

About Right Media Group: I don’t even have hair. I just came for the editing!

Felicity Fala:

Tashay Leniece: Def missed your content .. your content and editing skills are top tier …PERIOD!

Nat C: My jam will always be melanin. My hair loves it.

vicky fox: Who else came back to watch the season all the way through?

by: Juliet Bamidele: Y'all she puts so much effort in production quality...I thought she had a million subs...damn

Tia Thomas: My nose is sensitive to perfumes too. I don’t even like flowers. It’s ok at first, then becomes cloying and overwhelming. Natural scents or scent-free only pls.

Jason Lawrence: Loved the video. Just uhh...i know it's a silly question but would any of this help my hair? I definitely don't have any curls like yourself lol

Theresa Ragland: Hi Gem Natural can’t wait what beautiful natural hair style u have show love ur beautiful natural hair

JadeFoxx: Great product video. I usually don't gravitate to any hair products created from celebs. Lol I just feel that they don't know what they're talking about, plus I also lean more towards organic, natural ingredients.

Bijan Ellesse: Never been so excited about a video! Lol

Khodani Maposa: Please do a pattern beauty review

Jus Gie: I love your videos!!

Ivy Merritt: I guess that old saying holds true; you get what you pay for.

TLV Lav: Thanks for sharing!!

Jeannine Gorden: The directions on Melanin's oil say to apply in the shower?

Enigmaosm: Welcome back!!! We've missed you.

John Allen: Hola mi amor, me encanta tu sonrisa! ¿Serás la madre de mi hijo? ¡Este video fue increíble! ¡Amo tu contenido! Sigue haciendo grandes cosas.

Gayle Brown: Glad your back

Kētta’s Coils: Yay!!!!!!!!

VitaminD4u: ✌

MiVidaBellisima: I know you don’t want to blame YouTube for the low engagement, but I think your videos just aren’t being pushed. I love your videos and tune in when I see them but I had no idea you came back because I didn’t get a post notification. Yt is notorious for unsubscribing people too and idk if yt is unsubscribing people or if people checked back, saw you hadn’t posted in months, and assumed you left yt and unsubscribed. Ultimately, you have to decide if this is just a fun outlet that you hope will get big overtime, or if you want to put your energy into something that is a sure thing (school, 9 to 5, whatever that means to you.) I think that more consistency seems to help the people that see the most growth and interaction (posting more often or even if that’s not feasible, posting the same day of the week.) I’ve told you this before that you are one of the best yt out here and I feel like literally nobody does what you do! I appreciate your work and at the same time, I want you to take this time to figure out how to prioritize yourself and your mental health in all you do. I want you to be ok first and foremost and if you want to come back to YouTube I’ll be here with the post notification bell on ❤️
