Dhiran Mistry: Hi everybody, my name's Dhiran Mistry, and I work at the John Barrett Salon in Bergdorf Goodman. And today, I'm here with Casey, and as you can see, she's got curly hair. And I am going to show you how to blow dry curly hair. So, first things first, when the hair is wet, you don't want to play with it too much. So, after washing, don't towel-dry it, just squeeze out the excess water. You can leave in some conditioner, whilst you're washing it. But the best thing to do, is to not play around with the curls too much, because that will prevent big, fluffy, frizzy hair.

So as can you see, Casey's hair is quite damp. And what people should do, is just to scrunch in some curl cream, and then, either diffuse dry or let it dry naturally. So, when you have your curl cream in your hands, the best thing to do, is just to scrunch it up from the bottom, and work your way up to the top. You don't want to put too much product on the root obviously, because that's going to make the hair greasy. But curls, they like product. Right? The curls seem to drink it up.

So, just scrunch in your product, and then, you're good to go. So, what you need is a diffuser. If you don't have a diffuser, then some people like to put a sock or something over the end of the dryer, just to contain the pressure of the hairdryer. The more powerful the hairdryer, the more it's going to blast the curls, and you'll lose the shape of the curls. So, I would put the dryer on a high heat but a low speed. The other thing you can do, when you are drying curly hair, is if you want to have a little bit more volume, you can flick your head upside down. And that will just lift the roots up, slightly.

This is also a very good way of getting the back of the hair, the underneath parts, dry as well. What you want to do with the diffuser, is just gently press it against the hair, moving it around, not to overheat the hair too much, because you'll end up burning the hair, and drying out too much. So, keep moving the diffuser around. So, always remember to keep moving the hair around, and keep moving the dryer around.

So, now you see the hair's completely dry. Just scrunch up those curls, to break up the rigidness, because they kind of stick together, quite a bit. So, that will be the product. So, what you want to do, is just scrunch it up. It's fine to touch now, it's dry. So, just break up some of those curls, just to make it a bit softer. Put it in its place, and there you have it. That's how we do a curly hair blow dry.

Curl Gurl: does anyone else's naturally curly hair never curl at the roots? it's sooo annoying

Jazz Terry-Short: I just copied this tutorial five minutes ago. My hair dried a lot quicker and has defined some of my curls even more. My hair normally tends to hang in big thick marionette-like ringlets around my neck area without movement, but following this tutorial has helped separate that area into more individual curls. Thumbs up indeed.

Lacey Prager: I keep reading articles and watching videos that are leading me to believe my unruly, frizzy, awful locks are just misunderstood curls and I'm really hoping this is true so I can end the flat-iron madness but I'm still pretty sure my hair is just a jerk.

Devin Terrazas: My mom just bought me a diffuser and I'm so excited this was helpful and end result was beautiful!

And i Oop: I think no one else on this planet has my kind of hair.

Donica Robinson: This was helpful. The model has my exactly hair type (plus about 20 years). How long does it take to dry (at that length) with this method?

Temor Natan: That is very helpful! Thank you :)

SHEWOLF: What product for curl volume was used in her hair before the drying?

Doudou Ella: She has a really soft beautiful curly hair ❤️❤️❤️

Hermella Kebede: I need one for black hair boo.

Nora Peace: He’s doing what I do!! Putting heat on the ends! I think that’s why my ends are split and destroyed

Jennifer Grove: This is the natural texture of my hair. It's curly but not super thick anymore like when I was a kid. Can I use a round brush to blow dry my hair straight? I was thinking about purchasing one but am unsure.

molly: Damn. Wish my hair dried like hers but I'm gonna try this so maybe it will.

bernie flores: does a diffuser help define your curls?

Nicole : GREAT SPEAKER... very useful tutorial after many years of searching. Thank you.

Paola González: Well, i have like four times her amount of hair and even if i do the steps perfectly i end up with a mane :(

boii hiu: Her hair is so amazing

Natassia A.T.: I'M PRETTY SURE HE NEEDS TO READ THE CURLY GIRL METHOD BOOK... CHANGING THE LIVES OF CURLY GIRLS ALL OVER THE WORLD

daniela: I always end up with frizz when I blow dry or air dry. Any tips?

cindy valencia: is it possible to electrify yourself? i have one my hairs really long and wet after the shower theres really no stop between the inside of blow drier and the diffuser with holes

OoMayaoO Diamond: I’m sure this is my kind of hair and I still can’t do anything with it cus it’s just goes frizzy lol

Queen Gazardiel: you can see that it's not completely dry -_-

Healthy Wealthy: pray for my hair to get longer fast

KatyandJoemac: He should have hovered around the roots first, with her head flipped forward and then to the sides. I would not put the hair in the bowl. Probably ok for some hair types but I would not want to blow my hair cuticles upward. I would just point the diffuser downwards and work along the hair shaft.

Zee H: Every time I do the same steps I can never get decent looking curls & end up straightening my hair :(

danny town: can you use mousse?

TheOriginalXslumpd: i noticed in the comment section a lot of woman [not of african/ african american race] are complaining about how they hate the their '' natural curly'' hair and that they hate the friz; etc, but whenever i'm on a african american hair tutorial of something that has to do with hair majority of them in the comments i rarely see complaining about anything.. not saying that some people don't complain which people obviously do but when i do see them complaining its usually about not knowing the right conditioner or oil to use.. i like all the different videos but its crazy how there is such a big difference in the way people see their hair.. to me personally african american/ african hair seems harder to take care of and more of a struggle but is very beautiful

Estelle1944: Her nervousness is making me uncomfortable

Gretchen Goodrum: I've got baby hairs at my forehead, but other than that, my hair is so flat on top.

Hania Esmail: Would you please tell me what kind of diffuser you use ? .. to know what kind of diffuser should i buy ?

Alina Vlad: Where do u get those blow dryers from?

minky hughes: Thanks for sharing

Toby Anderson: That was cringeworthy... He needs to dry the roots first by hovering upside down/side to side, then attack the ends with the diffuser last otherwise you get heaps of frizz.

Lobna Khan: Ok question, with having a condition applied to my hair. I do not have to wash it thoroughly, is that what he is saying???
