Hey guys so today, I'm gon na be showing you how I get my afro look. First thing you want to do when you're making a frozen umber one you want to make sure that your hair is really really conditioned. So last night I deep condition my hair and then I did a co-wash in the shower. I also calmed out each section using a wide tooth comb. You really want to make sure that this is detangle, because we're going to be climbing it out more. You just want to make this process easier, and then I sealed everything together with my hair and body oil, which I will link for you here. You can check that out and I'm just really generous with that oil. I place it on each section and then rinse. It out and then I twist it up and that just leaves your hair really soft and moisturize and gives you a nice little seal, because you know what your hair to dry out we're going to be combing it out, and so it's going to be really exposed. Do you want to have something on it? That'S going to protect it, some sort of seal it moisturize or something on each side. I have three sections, so here's the bottom and then here's the two horizontal sections and then again, here's the bottom and then the two horizontal sections and then I reserved the front by itself and I twist it forward in my two strand twist. So after you get out of the shower, I just pinned my twists up. I just want to kind of give them a little tiny bit of length without stretching them too much, because we do want that natural texture. -- is -- type of look okay. So that's how I prepare my hair. Basically just conditioned co-wash detangle in the shower seal and then a strand twist and gently pin them up. So you can sleep at night. So next up is really easy. I'M just gon na untwist each section: it's the stuffed! I'M just taking out the twists and kind of separating it, and I have kind of these really nice curls going on here. I like the style too. My hair is like so, and even because I have so many weird layers in my hair I twist this forward. So I can get kind of a nice bang edge situation, so the bangs look a little weird, but we're gon na fix that don't worry all right! This is how we look right now. We'Re gon na make this work. Don'T worry, we're going to work from bottom to top we're going to start the combing out process grab a chunk of hair on the bottom. When I clip the rest out of the way. Now, when I comb this out, I'm not combing out the entire section. I have some really good lengths here, so I want it to be more of like a heart shape and I want to be able to to mold it into that shape and keep the length pointing downwards. So what we're going to do is we're only going to comb out the ends to get rid of the curliness. So it looks like it's all afro fluffy, but the inside is actually still going to be pretty curly. But you don't worry about that, because you're not going to even see the inside, and this is why it's important to detangle in the shower. So this is an easy process about halfway up going to give us that fluffy look but we're still pointing down and having that length and we're working from bottom to top so that we can kind of shape this as we go. And, of course, if you want to call, you know, do whatever this is your afro? It'S your hair, you wear it. However, the heck you want to wear, I'm just showing you the exact method that I use to get it to look like how it did in that Instagram photo so feel free to do whatever you want with this. If you want to comb it all the way up comb it all the way up, molding it it's nice and fluffy, so cute great there we go. You can see the difference here, yeah all right, we're going to do the other side. Now, before I do the bangs I'm actually going to go in here to this middle section, I'm going to comb it upwards, we're going to comb out all the curls, and this is going to make the hair shrink up a little bit more and kind of stand. Taller because we want the top of the hair to be a little bit higher to get a nice circular, shape, see the difference, and so, if your hair is kind of an uneven length, you can kind of play around with combing some parts less coming some parts More to kind of make your hair look completely even and use shrinkage to your advantage, so we're using shrinkage here to get that height. I'M going to go in with my bangs, starting from the back I'm going to comb out the front completely to the good height and I'm going to push it back so again. Just to reiterate, the only part that I'm combing out completely is the bangs in the front and the very middle part. Now all of our hair is a fruit and we're just going to kind of shape it. I'M just going to clean up the front a little bit make a nice little defined part I'll log. It now a little bit of ecostyler, smoothing that down. Just like the contrast of the smooth and then the texture. Just to me, it looks really pretty: I'm going with the brush use a bobby pin to pin that in place and bring it back over. So that's it just fluff it around a little bit and compact it so that you have a nice defined shape. You want to get that heart shape, you're, just going to put more hair on one side than the other, and that's the look. It'S a really easy style that shows off your texture really nicely, and I just I think it's really beautiful, that's it. I hope you guys enjoyed this video. I hope that it was helpful and I'll see you in the next one. Mel B: when i see this i wonder, why in the HELL did we relax our hair(us now natural girls) our hair is AWESOME!!!

penn2pal: This reminded me of how I wore my hair in the 70s. You would shape your hair into a fro by patting it down. Thanks Whitney for taking me back to my teenage days.

Annette Shaw: The amount of work that you put into these tutorials is very obvious and greatly appreciated...you perfectionistism (I totally just made that up) shines through!!! Thanks for all your hard work to bring us awesome content...=)

Erica Bonnee': Very pretty. Your hair looks so shiny and healthy.

MrMsLoveLee: Girl you give me all my cute styles! lol I'm happy you did this cause I did this style by accident went swimming had a cute long twist out. Time to leave I had a banging Afro like this! lol had no idea how to do it again and now I do so I hope I do it right! Thanks for tips!

Shenette: This is so cute! Amazing how you keep coming up with new techniques for old tried and true styles.

talazia sadler: After some picking, fluffing, and a few spritz of water, this is how my transitioning hair turns out after a two-strand twistout, but it is more of an actual heart shape (longer layers towards the front), which I have come to totally love. I love your fro tutorial, btw (like all of your tutorials)! You can rock any hair style out there, Whitney!

Chay Andrea: Fluffy fro :) love it, loved your initial twist out results too!

cherrynellieperiod: I love it soooooo much!!!! This actually JUST inspired me on a topic for a paper I'm going to write for a scholarship. The Afro is such an iconic look. It's BIG, it's BOLD, and it was one of the FIRST hairstyles I wore when I stopped blowing out my hair. So I'm going to write about that. Thank you. I also really love the makeup look. *insert shameless plug here* would you mind doing a tutorial on the makes up look in this video????? Hugs and kisses to the fam!!!!!!!!

kerducky: This is FRO TASTIC!!!! Whitney I love the screen shot I can't wait to put this on my Google+ page...awe look at you in your DIY body oil thumbnail. See you always have the best twists out, effortless, I mean 7 twists and fabulous!.....I need a comb, lol!! Your hair is so well moisturized I bet there are no crack snapple pop sounds going on....I can't wait until I have enough shrinkage to use to my advantage, lol!! I always ask on FB but I get no where, so let me try something new "Whitney may I borrow your hair?, I'll pay for express shipping and have it back to you in a month and so that the top of your skull doesn't get cold (because I need your scalp too) I'll let you borrow my hair free of charge, is that a deal?" lolol!! Ok back to the video, this was easy and safe on the hair I liked how you just combed out the ends for the majority of your hair, I would definitely try this technique if I decide to go fro maybe for your Mane Mondays features I should give this a try. FABULOUS results, awesome tutorial, thanks for sharing and I have a vlog to catchup on : )

ziamfr: wow, I've never seen someone actually want their hair to turn out like that. I always thought that people liked the whole defined curl afro look. It's weird, though, that I never made the connection between seeing people with fluffy, undefined afros, and understanding that was the look they were going for. Thanks for opening my eyes to this. It looks absolutely gorgeous and I can't wait to try it out.

Amy Bartholomew: I just wanted to tell you, first and foremost, I think your hair is beautiful. I think a lot of us struggle with accepting the hair we were blessed with, wanting something else because we like it better. (My hair is a mousy brown and I think blonde hair is so pretty. Just doesn't look great on me & wrecks my hair.) It's awesome that you have found or made products that work for you as well as styling methods and you share them freely with others. Girl, if I had natural hair I would follow you like a groupie! Shoot, I subscribed to your channel just because I like your videos. Can I tell you, I'm totally jealous how you can do a flat twist & "let it go" without having to secure the end.

Yogeek: I love it! I've learned a new way to use my natural hair's texture to my advantage. Thank you.

Ashley Jumease: I love the fro but the twist out looks amazing too!

niyah34: You are the most innovative Natural Hair Youtuber! I love this style!

badgalsav: Yes! Embracing the fro! It looks lovely on you Whit! ☺️❤️

Val V: I swear everytime I'm ready to give up on my natural hair there you are posting your videos just reviving my whole life girl lol. your fro is too fleeky <3333

Tonya Archer: Your hair looks so damn healthy! So beautiful :)

iAmNikkiSage: I'm so going to do this for a 1980's theme party I'm invited to next month. Such a genius! WHERE ALL MY 80'S BABIES AT?!

Jasmen Nariah: I had been waiting for a way that I can actually make my tiny afro bigger without blow drying every day. I'll most definitely try this!
