This is not how I would do this to all my textured, hair, friends and or kitchen beauticians, if you have been looking to achieve the butterfly haircut, which is the most recent trending haircut and DIY tutorial. This is the review and breakdown for you today. I'M going to sacrifice my hair for cut that I don't even want, but that's okay, because I do want to show you how this cut will look on hair that is naturally curly and how I would recommend anybody to do it. This is not. This is not how I would do it it's never. This easy good everybody. I am yamane drummel, I'm a licensed hairstylist, a curl specialist and, most importantly, I am here for you and I do not want you to make the biggest DIY hair mistake of your life. Is the butterfly haircut going to be for you and if so, how can we better execute to find out you're going to want to keep watching this video for tips and tricks and steps to customize this cut for you without further Ado? Let'S get to it. Oh, she Snappy she Snappy, don't just be cutting your hair in the snap of a finger if you think that you are qualified after watching a 30 second tutorial on Tick, Tock or even a 12 minute, video on YouTube, you've got another thing. Coming you've got another thing cut and oh no now for a little bit of context in case you're wondering what is that? That'S that was me when I first heard of the butterfly haircut until I saw it and very simply the butterfly haircut is a long layered round concave haircut and it is a very classic layered haircut that was most popular like well, a little popularized back in the 70S back when people were calling it The Feathered haircut, because everyone wanted to look like the it girls at the time, the Charlie's Angels, Farrah, Fawcett, Jaclyn Smith and Jill Monroe all had it. It was often called the Pharaoh flip and it was that feathered. Look on their long, bouncy, hair that transcended through the 80s and the 90s on the Rachel, oh yeah, that's another version of this haircut. Miss Jennifer Aniston is a great depiction of how it looked on shorter, hair and now, of course, over the years, it's come back, especially as everyone is obsessed with a blowout right now you got ta thank the Dyson air rack for that through and through this cup, Provides a ton of Shaggy flippy back kicking layers that can give a ton of body, but on a bouncy blowout. That is how this haircut is meant to be styled. So who is it great for wavy and straight hair? How does it look on curls? Well, alright. So I have prepped my hair, it's just washed conditioned and I stretched it with my blow dryer and a wide tooth comb. That way, you could better see the shape before and after as opposed to cutting the hair, while it is wet. Obviously, curly hair expands when it is dry and without a trained eye. Cutting it when it's wet can be a very unpredictable. It can be very stressful because you can't actually visualize how the haircut is looking and, amongst many other things, it is very difficult to maneuver a lot of wet curly hair into the ponytails amongst many other Pony problems. If you have different curl patterns, it's best to cut your hair dry, I'm dry. One moment please, I am behind. I am behind. I have not been drinking that water wow, I like it. No, no! You know. If you have multiple textures, you should cut the hair dry in its natural state and most terrifyingly this type of haircut, which is supposed to cut you a bunch of layers and on some people give volume. This might actually remove your volume now. This is specifically more of a placement issue as where we place these ponies is going to determine the shape of the haircut, and this haircut shape may not be ideal if you have one very fine, curly hair, that you don't like to style, hair in general, that You don't like to style, because this look is meant to be styled. It'S also not meant for short hair, and it's not meant for you. If you just have really tight, curly hair and you want to be low maintenance. This is a high maintenance cut. But if you do have longer hair, that's at least below the shoulders and if your texture is medium to coarse. And if you like, the look of lots of layers - and you are okay with the reality that this haircut may leave you with the mullet and especially if you like - to switch up your curly look into a blowout, then this cut is gorgeous. But here's how you actually do it. This is not how I would do this. Let'S break down this horrendous placement, this trending DIY haircut demonstrates the front, including, like the bang section and the sides tied at your eyebrow level in front of your face and all the hair behind your ears tied up at the top of your head. Now, since hair cutting is very geometric, the angles in which we Elevate our hair completely determine the shape and the way we distribute the hair's weight. In other words, it's going to have a big impact on the type of layering that you achieve so specifically with the front. This is going to be very heavy, not just that, but if your hair is long and I'm saying longer than mine more like on my sister or longer, let's say you have waist length, curly hair, cutting your sides into this section is going to completely disconnect the Front half of your hair from the back, bringing that mullet back, as I mentioned, when talking about the problems with the ponies, is they don't take into the fact your hair is density and usually the hair in front of the ear on the sides here? Have a lower density and if you don't have a perfectly rounded hairline, God bless you, because you may also achieve a lot of inconsistencies in the haircut. When I say inconsistencies, I mean holes and gapping and that disconnection from the back. However, this angle, right here, will give you very choppy front layers which, if you're going for that Rachel from Friends moment, you've got more of that mid-length hair. It could work for you, but there's a better way and as for this back placement pulling the hair up. 180 degree is from the way the hair Falls, that is, will create lots of gradual soft layering, but here's the thing while this type of layering is known to give lots of body to long hair and straight and wavy hair that is going to be blown out. This is the absolute opposite of what you should be cutting if you're looking for a round voluminous curly hair shape by cutting up here, you're removing a lot of the weight in the crown of your head, while keeping a lot of density on the ends. Now this makes it great for fine hair that doesn't want to create really straggly ends with layering, but it also completely collapses your shape, if done too aggressively and in the end, instead of looking round and fluffy. If that's what you were going for, it's going to result in more of a bell shape not completely triangular, but on curly hair in its natural state. It'S going to be rounded in through the top rectangular through the lengths and a little heavier and squared off on the bottom, giving you this kind of bell shape, which doesn't give you a lot of volume in the crown this by they're being short layers. However, this is especially the case on short curly hair, but if you have longer curly hair, whose hair is too long initially to create a nice rounded shape, this type of layering will give lots of different variations. Different lengths of the curls, a waterfall. If you will, through the back of her head but long story short just to recap, with the front section cut like that, you're going to get very heavy choppy layers and with the back section cut like this you're going to lose a lot of excess weight in The hair, but also possibly collapse the shape of your hair, so I'm going to show you a better way and since we're already here, I'm just going to keep this back section out of the way. I want you to start by finding your part. I'M a side part clean, so this is what I'm doing now. You want to have a flat comb handy, so you're going to use this to find the bang section place a comb at the top of your head and where the comb lifts off your head is the top of your bang section now draw a line with your Comb from there to your Tempo on each side, this is going to be the shortest part of the haircut and therefore it's. Where do we need to start the haircut to establish the guideline for the rest of your layering and you'll be left with this triangular section? That is going to look a little bit differently on everybody because we all have different head shapes, which is why we can't all place the same placements. So you can see how long my bangs are they're a little below my chin. Now I'm demonstrating a side part because I have one and it's more difficult. If you have a side part, so I'm going to show this additional step. But if you have a middle part, this is easier for you, because all you have to do from your hair. Split into is take a little bit of hair from each side, gently pull it down to establish the length and make a snip while still considering the bounce in your hair. Okay. But because I like to wear my hair about one inch off of the center. I'M going to cut the heavier side one inch longer than this side, because when these two sections sit at the side of my face this section it has a longer distance to travel, and so, if I don't cut it accordingly, I'm gon na have bangs that are Cut unevenly, so I'm going to cut a little piece from the smaller side first and determine where I want the length to be, and I am just going to gently dampen the ends that way you can see where the hair has been cut a little bit better. I do recommend you keep a spray bottle handy if you have difficulty finding your guide, but now this is where that short piece was cut and I'm going to connect the rest of the bang by pulling it all the way across to my shoulder and snipping that Bad boy off now, I measure this side to be one inch longer and do the same thing: comb and direct all the hair over to your other shoulder and connect the dots to your guideline. It'S really important that you smooth all the hair very well with the comb and with tension hold that section in between your fingers. While you direct it to where it's supposed to be over your shoulder, but then take a look, pinching the hair and you can cut it here so that way you can actually see what you were cutting just don't let loose of the hair section from your fingers. Now that we have the shortest pieces of the whole haircut, we can start piecing the rest of it together. You can't just Big Snip Big Snip without connecting it, so I can take a small section from what we just cut and bring in the rest of the bang section and as opposed to dragging everything forward, we are going to elevate up. We could put in a ponytail right here, but it's actually easier for me to just lift this section, find my guide and cut the rest of those guys, and I'm going to use this section to be the rest of my guide. I'M brushing the rest of that top section up to that same area above the bangs, or rather part of the bangs, see how this placement is different from the other placement that is being advertised to do. This is going to save you, giving you some insurance, it's so that you don't cut too much length off the sides. These these bangs are already going to be bothering me while connecting them to the bang. So you can see what is falling. These are the bangs AKA our guideline, I'm just going to gently cut into that now. When I remove this ponytail, you can see that I'm achieving that Bell shape, or it's rounded at the top and then rectangular and I still have some weight at the bottom. It is a very shagadelic baby. Now we can move to the back, but to connect. I want to make sure that I incorporate some of this back here, so I'm going to take down the ponytail and add in some of the hair from the previous section, which is going to act as our guide that way. There'S no guessing here, we don't have to guesstimate I'm going to clip the rest of the front section out of the way and once again just make sure I have everything combed very smoothly, carefully place. The Pony make sure I find my guideline by pulling it. I know that it's pulling from that front portion of my head see it right here, I'm going to use it to cut the rest, which is this pom pom pom pom pom pom this monstrosity. This is a little microphone, it's very satisfying. It feels really cool and just like that, I know that it's connected from front to back I'm going to let everything down to show you the silhouette, while it's dry before going to bring my curls back, but just before we do that. We'Ll trim up the perimeter and I'm going to turn my head over my shoulder foreign feels pretty good when you're curly it doesn't have to be perfect, and on that note, I'm gon na go bring back. My curls and I'll be right back all right, and this is it. The curls are very fresh in more ways than one and the Shag she's back in Action. We do need to do a little bit of refining. This is what makes a good cut a great cut. It'S where we can add in a little bit of personalization, as we often see on straighter, textures thinning shears are usually used. We don't use those here if you ever need to remove a little bit of bulk or to shape a little bit of the curls. When I turn my head to the side and I fluff it out, I am personally looking for this roundness of shape really moving. The hair around to see where it lays and if I turn my face and Shake I'm looking for the silhouette, that's here and I can always slightly adjust how this looks with a tiny bit of slide, cutting just tiny bit we're not fraying or Feathering the hair. The cut is already doing that enough. Okay, I evaluate the bangs and the other side of the face frame. You don't want to get two scissor happy because you can continue to tweak throughout the week, but essentially this is eat, I'm not mad, that I did it. I know I was saying that I didn't want this haircut in the first place and I I didn't. I wanted to go shorter and it is shorter. I like the length I wanted to go for a little bit of a rounder shape, but I could adjust that in a few weeks. How will she do it with my ponytail cut technique? That is a DIY cut. I recommend doing if you do have medium to short length like me, I will make sure that, as well as any other informational videos, that could be helpful in the description box below and if you go in to the salon, I have a tip. This is what you can ask your stylist if you really want to impress them when you're asking for this haircut, explain that you want a long long round, concave, layered haircuts or you could just ask for a 70s inspired feathered, layered haircut, because everyone should know what You are talking about, but if you ask specifically for a butterfly cut, you might send your stylist into Panic. It'S not it's not a common term. Not yet, and it doesn't, it doesn't have to be, but listen. Most importantly, make sure you show your stylist photos of your inspiration and try your best to find models with a face, shape and hair texture similar to you, if you're looking for a haircut and style on your texture but you're not finding it, it may just not Be meant for your texture, but for more curly hair textured haircut inspo. Make sure that you like comment and subscribe on today's video stay tuned. If this hair holds up amazingly throughout the week, then I think I have perfected this year's winter routine. Look! How juicy! Okay, pray for me and stay warm everybody. This has been your curly hair mentor and professional stylist Maine's by Mel, and I am out peace. Oh my God. I love your haircut. Where did you get it? Yeah? It'S a butterfly haircut! I didn't thank you so much for noticing you're so sweet. This is me in like 2018, and why is that? Why do I like this? No you, don't? No you don't. No, you don't! No, you don't. You know what kind of a sleigh I like the length. I have truly been at this for too long. My makeup is expired. I need to go. I'M gon na go now.

Holly James: I LOVE getting a demonstration of the results of trendy haircuts on curly or wavy hair. It is my experience that MANY stylist do not understand curly hair. They almost always cut too aggressively not taking into account how much it will shrink up. Even if you tell them you want a tiny, tiny amount trimmed-like 1/4 inch, they default to 1/2 inch at a minimum. With my last haircut, which was too much, I decided I would cut my own hair from now on as much as possible. (I was a licensed cosmetologist in the 90’s). I feel very rusty on all of it but can get the gist very quickly when I watch your videos. My stylist admits very few of her clients want to keep their curls or waves. Because of that, there is no incentive to learn to cut and style curly hair like in the 70’s and 80’s when perms were very popular. Anyway, thank you very much! You are a lifesaver!

Gabby Nieves: After having a few bad experiences with salons basically looking at my curly hair & turning me away because they didn't know what to do with it, I just prefer to do my hair at home lol. I love your tutorials that are so detailed and easy to follow at home.

Anne Marieke Wolkers Jepsen: I love your videos! You really break it down in details; super helpfull! I only cut my daughters hair. Wouldn’t dare to cut my own Found a new hairstylist recently who actually understands that I don’t want my hair styled straight. I have always LOVED my waves. She recommended looking into The Curly Girl method for inspiration. Usually hairstylists have straightened my hair and automatically thought that’s what I wanted even when I specifically said that’s not my thing…

Carrie S.: I just did the butterfly to my head and it worked fine (I have wavy ringlets). I think if I want a more refined look, this will help a lot. Thanks Mel and Amanda! :)

Dena-Mo: This is why I go to a professional stylist. I could never do this on myself! Thanks, Mel, for the great tutorial.

karinac1999: You are my hair guru!! I'm always afraid of cutting my own hair. I've done the pigtails cut but I don't do the pull-the-back-forward part because I can't eye the length and am always afraid it will be uneven and I'll keep cutting to make both sides the same until I end up bald

Tammy Aswell: This is why I love your channel. Thank you for addressing the different hair cuts that are out there and giving advice on why you do or don't want that cut. Scary stuff out there.

Tan Rose: Yaaaaaay! Great video! (I lived in Toronto when the "Rachel" haircut was the rage. I went to a high-end recommended salon att. (I should add here that I am very particular and NERVOUS of anyone cutting my fine curly hair (childhood trauma! TS! ).) He used thinning shears and gave me the Rachel cut ANYWAY! I almost left in tears and my hair never recovered to what it was! ☹️ I found a SUPER hair stylist once- Colin! A curly himself who ALWAYS did a FANTASTIC job! However, he moved away to Australia so now I cut it myself, like before... Your videos are SUPER!!! I'm also wondering what your mum's hair is like? I'm in my 50's and I'd LOVE to see you do a haircut for mature fine curly hair? PLEASE? Blessings to you and your viewers❣️ Happy Friday❣️✨

Donna Layne: Great video thank you!!! The cut turned out beautiful and your curls look amazing!!!

MaEug Rincon: Loved the haircut! Thank you very much for everything you do :)

Elaina Daves: Mell! I’ve been seeing TikToks recently on how girls that always get dry curly cuts need to blow out/press their hair twice a year to see the “real” damage since curly hair can hide it. What are your thoughts? I haven’t pressed mine in 4.5 years.

Heather Haworth: Holy Shite! I am going to have to do a full video just for you on what I am about to tell you (after possible broken foot heals) My mom was a hairstylist in the 50s-70s and totally cut her hair into the Fara Fawcett look. I still have the Original directions of my moms. She also taught me how to cut my hair when I was about 15/16 in the mid 80s. I have only been to a stylist about 10 times since then & still go home & recut it. So I just stopped going to stylists. I have tried different styles/cuts throughout the yrs on my straight to wavy now curly hair & keep going back to a combo cut from the 70s U shape at the bottom & added the layering of the 80s for my own type of cut. It is the U shape w/ 3 - 5 layered section with each in the same U shape. Then I take the front section or bang area ONLY together to cut straight across to be able to flip the hair from side to side. Result Cool Surfer Curly Hair. Yes I am 50 & still loving life!!!❤

Sophia Aloeristok: I love how you explain things!!! ❤️

Chloe McBroom: Mell your skin is GLOWING in this video!! Talk about glass skin it looks amazing ❤❤

Sara: NOPE. I’m still recovering from the unicorn ! I much prefer your pigtails cut! The only difference I do is pull the crown area up afterwards and cut horizontal where the top layers come to a point THEN comb it all down and make sure any wonky ends are cut even at the bottom. My hair hits right at my shoulders (when curly). Maybe if my hair was longer this would work but it is too reminiscent of the unicorn that gave me a pretty uneven mullet that I am still growing out!

Tierra Sangiacomo: I would love to get my hair done by you, I trust you with my life.

Donna Stapleton: I LOVE SEEING UR BIG HAIR! Looks like mine back when it was its decently healthiest! ❤

Stormy Day: What products are you using to get that definition? Your hair looks fabulous and I love that cut! I’m trying to go blunt except for the bangs because my hair on top is sooo thin and the rest of it is on the thinner side. You have sooooo much hair! I used to have that much hair! Not anymore!

Mrs Shinyside: Mel you are the best curlfriend a girl could have! Much love from Minnesota ♥️

Donna Stapleton: Ive never heard of this butterfly cut! I wanna get a mannyquin head of hair to practice on. I want to be licensed! ❤ i need to know how to get ur layers mell!!

Stacey Shaffer: I had the Farrah Fawcett hairstyle naturally and had the Rachel hair cut Now I let my grow past my waist and I am loving my long hair My hair is naturally curly and thinning shears were always used on my hair when I got it cut.... It ended up making my hair grow thicker

April Plourde: Hahaha she used a picture of Brad Mondos tutorial The shade! Lol love it ♥️

FlowerPower 233: I feel like you lost some volume but it is first day hair. I have to do your ponytail cut again that one actually helped me refresh my hair as it's been a while since I've been able to go to the salon

Saloshna Chetty: Not me watching this video after doing that Brad Mondo tutorial and not seeing any difference in my curl hair and then having to go and do the Mel's unicorn cut to fix the shape. Lol. Teaches me a lesson... Never stray from Mel's DIYs .. Yep never again

Emily JL☆ PetrifyingThePatriarchy: I cannot find a local stylist that has any clue how to "dry-cut" my hair.. I always end up waiting too long between trims and inevitably doing it myself. Thank you so much for some guidance!!!

A Google User: Thanks for all of your hard work Mel! Saving countless people from disappointment!

Donna Stapleton: I really… want to learn to do this for my hair for my furls and volume…. Im thoroughly convinced that ill never be able to do this correctly. Its a lot when u dont know how to do it

Felicia Bethea: I had the Farrah haircut back in the 70's when it first came out. Because I was fighting my curly hair texture, and only used a blow dryer and small round brush, it always ended up looking like a bushy bowl cut with weird flips. I think the pigtail cut is the best ever, and looks FABULOUS, and lo and behold!!!! I can do it myself. All thanks to my favorite YouTube hair guru!!!

Chelley Bean: This Texture Tuesday was VERY Shagadelic Baby!! Thank you for coming through and saving our hairs yet again Mell

November S: Hi: Nothing to do with hair. What do you use on your face that allows it to glow, or shine?

BTStrawberry: MEL PLEASE HELP!! How do I find a local hair dresser that can be trusted to cut curly hair??? My pattern and length is very similar to yours, and I’m desperately trying to grow it out to your sister’s length, but have lots of splits. I’ve been spot trimming the splits here and there to keep length as much as possible. I am too scared to fully do one of these cuts myself, but desperately need a good cut. My hair has no shape anymore. It’s been MANY years since I’ve had a proper cut, and it’s always been awful. I’m so afraid of going to a salon or letting anyone near my hair. The only gal I somewhat trusted moved across country, idk what to do now...

potato pirate: Maybe it's just me but I don't see this as shade. I love Mell and Brad they're both positive and funny, with fabulous personalities, good hearts and they both do good work. They have their individual strengths and differences but that's not a bad thing. Brad's admitted that he doesn't specialize in curly hair and tends to recommend based on what he knows which is straight to wavy hair almost as many times as he's admitted that he prefers blonde... and that's okay! When I watch Mell, I know she's usually not talking about straight hair techniques too. My hair is in between so I have to find my way thru both of their advice. Brad tried to improve on the wolf cut in his own way and it works great for certain textures and lengths. Today, Mell put her twist on it for the curly community, that's exactly what they both should do and I'm here for it! Much love to both of 'em and don't forget Seester.

Ar Alice Lourenço: I got that result with a simple unicorn cut! Curls are surprising hehe

william field: 16:41 oooh I’m so excited to see what this winter routine is !

Danielle Martter: Hi! Can you pls do a video for 2b - 2c hair? I always have frizz and I can’t keep my hair looking good.

Nó Nàmé: I really like that you will demonstrate cuts on your own hair so people can see how the process looks if they were doing it on their own hair instead of seeing it from the perspective of doing the cut on a mannequin or another person.

cwhunnybunnycreativemagic: Omg you are so pretty!! Thank you so much for making this video:).

Alana Thomas: This came just in time. I was about to do the butterfly cut! I binged videos this morning

Renee M Carr: I can't say enough fantastic things about this awesome girl.. lmao she's the best!!! No one knows hair like she does. She sacrificed for a cut she didn't even want, to stop crazies from doing BMs ridiculous gross tutorial cuts. . I cried.. I laughed.. I would never want a mullet. But the ponytail cut tutorial Mell created is my go to cut. I can do it myself soooooo easily thanks to Mell!!

Donna Stapleton: My curly is NEVER PERFECT! My … right!? Side si ALWAYS shorter once its done!

Lynzi Collins: Happy texture Tuesday!! Thank you both so much for all that you do and bringing us so much joy and making us smile, love you ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Maria: I’ve been waiting for you to teach us this one! You are the bomb! I really like the round cut you show at 6:39. I want that cut so bad!

Deanna: Happy Texture Tuesday!! Love your diy haircut videos!! Much love and happiness!! Xoxo

Michelle B: I LOVE THE DARK HAIR SO MUCH!!!

Natasha Velez-Soto: Thank you Mell I love you and your videos! They have really helped to bring my curls back to life and I don’t go to get haircuts I cut my own hair and always get compliments thanks to you ❤❤❤

Yamii Ramos: Can you provide the ultimate guide to the short roundest voluminous haircut ? For curly hair of course this is my dream haircut but I really wanna do it at home

Dirtclassy: I’m going to try the video you referenced at the end for my next cut! I have been doing something similar to this and dusting for the past year or two, but I really want a rounder shape again. Thanks for teaching us how to cut our hair! I have had the worst experience in salons. Only one stylist locally has ever known how to handle my hair, and I miss working next to her she also worked in a shop that catered to mature ladies which in hind sight makes more sense than not, but I have been cutting mine and my husband and daughters hair exclusively and we have never been more consistent with our trims. Plus your styling process and scalp and hair maintenance has our hair so healthy, we look good and feel good and never have to leave home to get the results

sbr141213: Thank you for the amazing tutorial and saving me from ruining my hair! Quick question what can someone with longer hair (around waist length) but already has short bangs (around chin length) do so the cut doesn’t take off too much length but is connected all around??❤❤❤

Derrick Jennifer Watkins: I've done this cut on myself for years. Love it! Thanks Mell!

Shelley Barrett: Hilarious... thank you Mel

arkang2: I appreciate you educating the masses!! I have 2 questions: 1. if you side-part but flip (I wear it to both the right and left), do you cut the bangs with a middle part? 2. Why comb out your curls instead of leaving them intact? Thanks for all you do

。*♡ 𝓶𝓮𝓵𝓸𝓭𝔂 ♡*。: as someone with curls, ive previously wondered abt this, but have been too skeptical to try it on myself considering how only women w straight hair do this. (plus its not the style i want currently haha) thank u for this!

A ElO: Tooooo late I already messed my wolfcut for that☹️ how could I fix it

Tash131: Ahh!! I did the cut a week ago. Turned out alright. I did make my own adjustments to it though. I’ve got medium thick 3c curls that is now slightly longer than shoulder length when dry.

Rachel Podhorcer: The bloopers

Aranya H: Can’t wait to hear about this new perfected winter hair routine!! I don’t know what to do without AG Mousse Gel Love the colour and this cut tutorial!

Ruth Epstein: Great tutorial Mel. I love this haircut.

JC7 Blessed: Amandaaa our editting queen done did it again. Amanda tiny, small, minute request. if u have a second to spare, we need a Texture Tuesday 2022 montage blooper reel After the premiere I thought to myself I butter-fly to the comments to thank Mell for being a wonderful host as always. And remind her to keep hydrated. And if she's ever stressed do what we do, watch a ManesByMell. I hears she's quite a delight

M Rence: I absolutely ❤️ how you show us the Right Way to cut Curly Hair! I lost it @ “If you want a Mullet”!

XM: I just take pictures to my stylist and let her do her thing It’s worth paying a professional for professional results

CookCookiesBakeBacon: The shade on Brad Mondo! For real, you're 2 days too late for me. I did it. Never again, Brad! It took me 45 minutes to fix it. I ended up taking 10 inches off my length, but it turned out very similar to yours after employing techniques from some of your previous videos.

Maria Luisa Scanu: You are stunning but I miss your blonde hair ♥️

Cheryl Boyd: My mother tells me to brush out my curls like you have yours for the ‍♀️ haircut- I say- " Mom! I do not brush out my curls !" I look like a lion

Airrial Tutton: Let’s just say I gave myself a dry cut not taking into account how much my hair bounces back lmao and let’s just say I’m super short now

Jan Robert Escudero: Unrelated to the video, but I got a bunch of aveda products from your previous recommendation and my hair turned out so good. I’ve lost a lot of density due to diet and stressed but I’m trying to re learn how to love my hair as is. Thank you so much for your content. I’m not sure what my hair would look like if not for your channel

Stephanie Chaparro: Natural makeup tutorial plsssss Mel is looking super glowy in this vid!

Ashkenia Sims: I love your videos! Thank you so much!

Caro Williams: I am _loving_ Mel’s darker curls

Bbymks5: Love this cut on you!

Allison Jaye TV: I dont understand at the end grabbing a curl and cutting it. Curls don't go to the exact same place from wash to wash. One day that particular curl could be tighter..then the next day looser..cutting it on a fresh wash?

Jessica D'Orazio: Living for dark-haired Mell

Kelli Lance: Thank you love your videos!!!!

Donna Stapleton: I just know if i walked in and sais 70s etc id end up skrewed!

Jenna Damiano: 7:59 seriously thank u for educating me about my hair !!!!!!

aikanae1: I think Paul Watts did the orig butterfly cut DIY. I like it when the angles are explained because no 2 people have the same hair or head shape. In all fairness, Brad does address the disconnects in the final tweaking.

Mylady Figueroa: I loved this video!

LovedSarita: Mel can you do a tutorial for people with hand pains? Or how can we do a cut in parts to have the same guide...?

s_Toobii: I applaud your commitment. But the anxiety that i gad jsut by looking at you get that haircut was infinity and beyond..‍‍‍

Rosa Diaz-Callender: Mel I'm living the curls.

Melleetaitunefois: This video come a day too late XD Luckily, it came out rather good , but i did modify it a bit doing a kind of hybrid between the butterfly cut and the Mell's cut

Jess G.: So if I want the round shape I should do the pigtail diy cut?

Brajesvari Devi Dasi: I wish you could be my stylist!

CoolestRedHead Pow:

Kelli Lance: I now have no blending from front sides into back lol

Mylady Figueroa: Can we see a video of how to keep up with split ends at home?

Junior Chaves o Picasso de Yahushua: Gurl you are effortlessly beautiful

Kelli Lance: I have natural curly hair and cut it like the one u said no to and my hair is messed up I have waist length one length and now I messed it it up I need to fix it lol luckily I plenty of length to play with and it is thick lime yours

Victoria Vega: Love the results. Wish you were in Tampa Fl. Can’t seem to find a good curly hair stylist.

Curls By Nat: The butterfly cut is basically for type 1 hair. I doid tried to look for curly hair people who tried the butterfly cut. This is the 1 cut that is not made for curly hair.

Caro Williams: The “if so, go off sees” took me _out_

Its Me, Gina: Very Nice

Cleocatra: Be wary of any diy haircut unless its with a clippers and your familiar with using them. Mels looking great

Serena Garces: Ahhh cutting hair is so confusing . I have thin curly hair just past my shoulders. What would be a good cut for me?
