Hey guys welcome back to my channel, so this video is going to be about the growth length retention hairstyles, that i've used to maximize and allow my hair journey to basically be what it is um. I started my hair journey approximately six years ago, quite on seriously. Yeah, so i would say about three and a half: four years ago i've been taking my hair journey seriously, so there are six styles at this current stage of my hair journey that you will either see me rocking um. These six styles are basically my guru tips that i would give to anybody. If you know they wanted to look for a way to wear their hair that was going to allow them to grow their hair. Obviously, some styles are better than others, so i'm going to be ranking my six styles in order of least effective for hair growth to most effective, the hair growth so number one on my hair growth length retention hairstyles. This is not the best one. This is the least best one is blow drying my hair using heat. Now. This is something that i don't really do as much anymore, because i don't need to, but it is something that i did in the past um. I wouldn't recommend straining your hair, the most that i've done. In my whole, entire hair journey is blow dry. My um blow dry, my hair, so i'm going to go straight into the cons of blow drying your hair, using heat. The cons are increased, hair fragility due to the fact that the process is quite intense and you often have to use combs to like allow your hair to fully um be blow-dried a probe like properly. Also. The second con is that your hair often needs more trims because of it. So i was only when i used to blow dry my hair, using heat. I would only be able to do it once or twice a year, because you know the intensity and the negativity of the process. Just wasn't just wasn't it wasn't it. The third con i would say is that it slows down the hair growth process, and that is because your hair is more fragile you're having to trim your hair more often, it's just not the best for growing your hair. However, there are some positives about this style and the first positive being that you have increased style flexibility, the second one being that your hair stays stretched for longer. So once i blow dry my hair using heat, often my hair will stay straight for quite a long time. Maybe like two weeks um - and you know i can do all sorts of different styles in that time period. The third pro is that you actually get reduced heat reduced, hair breakage as a result of hair tangling. So because my hair isn't shrunken because my hair is stretched out and if you're someone. If you know that your hair is prone to tangling when it's shrunken and i think you should consider potentially wearing your hair in stretch styles, obviously there are other ways to stretch your hair and they just are there. There just is: there's the thingy method, the threading method. I'Ve never tried that. I would love to try, but i've never tried it. Maybe i'll try it. You guys want to see me try that the threading method - maybe i will number two on our list so which is a little bit better than blue drying. Your hair, using heat, is the shrunken bun. Now i've done a video on what my shrunken bun looks like. So i'll link that video somewhere on the screen um, the con of the shrunken bun style, is that it has increased tangling because of the shrinkage and hence your hair is more. My hair is more likely to break and break because of that tangling process, and so i actually have to co-wash my hair at least weekly. I remember there was a time when i found that the most effective thing for me to do was to literally co-wash my hair every three days to prevent tangling. Now that is just excessive, and so, if you don't have that kind of time, then maybe this isn't the style that you want to do if you're looking to also grow your hair. The second thing is that your hair needs excessive moisturizing like every single day. You need to make sure those ends are not tangling up and getting confused about what they're meant to be doing. The third thing is that it takes so much more effort and attention um to just maintain the hair health in that process. However, the pros of this style is that i personally love this look because of the coils that my hair has, and this look is one of the best i find in showcase showcasing those coils, and the second thing is: i actually have easy access to moisturize my Hair and my scalp because, as i said, my hair is just in a bun, i can take it out moisturize my hair easily, and the third thing is that the style is relatively easy and effortless. It just requires attention on a daily basis, which is then a lot of effort, so it depends how you want to look at it. The third style on the list is blow drying your hair without using heat. Now this style does have a con. It requires the use of very expensive tools, and i also have done a video on how i blow dry, my hair, using no heat. I use a device that costs four hundred dollars, which is an insane amount of money, and it's something that you we need to process and think about before you invest in. The second thing is that you need to use a really great leave-in conditioner, to prevent your your ends from getting dry um, to prevent your ends from basically getting dry, and then the third con is that your stretch stay only lasts for about a week, as opposed To when you use heat it lasts for about two weeks, um so give or take you know that could be a call. It could be not a big deal for me. It'S not really a big deal. The pros, however, are insane um, the first being that your hair literally has no shedding like none, the second being that your hair doesn't tangle up because it's not shrunken and so there's minimal, breakage and also it has incredible star flexibility, because your hair is in a Stretched state and it's a fabulous look. It'S great for those that want to have their cake want to have stretched hair. Look, you know, look have different styles, but they don't want the breakage and the hassle of like heat damage. At the same time, number four on our list is extension braids. Now there are some severe cons here being that it's not great for thin fine, natural hair like myself, the hair needs oiling quite regularly and moisturizing, and at least daily to prevent excessive breakage um for thin fine hair um. Also, it takes a long time um. It takes a long time to actually get it done. If you do it yourself, it takes like eight eight to thirteen hours. If you get done somewhere else, it's still expensive. So it's just one of those like you have to make sure it works for you, and you have to also make sure that you can get it done in a way that is sort of like not too much effort and not too much headache. However, there are some pros of braiding your hair and i would really recommend it. If you thinner is not something you're worrying about, i would really recommend braiding your hair and it's low manipulation. So you don't, you know, have to do a ton once it's already braided and it's practical and gorgeous at the same time and it's great for hair growth um, but obviously, as i said, not so great for hair thickness. So i do tend to avoid this style, especially now. That, for me, thickness, is something that i'm really like wanting to work on, and this will probably work magic for somebody else. But the stage of my hair journey that i'm currently at it just doesn't work. For me, it's not something that i'm trying to do. Okay, the fifth one is wigs. Now anybody that knows me knows that i love a good wig. I love it. I love a good wig because underneath the wig you can braid your hair or twist your hair and without extensions that is um. You can basically twist your hair braid your hair um in its natural state and put it under the wig and it disappears. So the cons of the wig wearing is that it requires an initial investment, so you actually have to buy the wig you actually have to like put coins down like you know what you get is sort of what you pay for. So if you invest 100 pounds into a wig, it might not be as amazing as if you spend like 250 on the wig, so i don't know also, if you don't know how to make your wigs yourself, that's another additional cost for installation. You know the coins can really rack up before you before you know it also. It can be damaging to your edges if you're not using it appropriately, but because i've been wearing wigs for a long time. I sort of know how to manage my edges, so i i it's not too big of a deal as you can see, i have terrible edges and it's not because of the wigs. I just have always had terrible edges and i call my edges the butterfly edges, because they go in out in so you know it's cute. We make it cute if you're part of the butterfly edges gang. Let me know down below. I want to see where you guys are at. I want to see my people, okay, so in terms of the pros of this style, and a few of them are the fact that you have easy access to your hair whenever you want it, because you can actually take the wig off and and access your hair. So you can have a really good routine in place. You can wash your hair, you know once a week or twice a week, you can really get in there and you can really focus on hair growth. Also, you can hide your hair in the process. So if your hair is not at the length or the stage that you want it, if it's uneven whatever it is, you can literally hide it um also, you can moisturize your hair quite intensely once it's in the wig, as i said, because of the easy access I love wig wearing because it's amazing for hair growth. You can have gorgeous flexible styles. You can have a short pixie one day. You can have a long red thing. You could have a storm storm hairstyle another day like oh, i just love wigs. I do um and now the top of the leaderboard at the top i mean wigs, is pretty amazing, but at the top, the final and sixth hairstyle. That is the best that i love is a head scarf yeah, because you can do the exact same thing that you would do with your hair when you put it under a wig just twist it or braid it away, and there are a few cons with it. Being not the cutest look in the book, and you know it's not always appropriate. For example, if you're going to a function - and you want to you know, look like super cute or you're going to a job interview - and you want to like you know, pacify yourself. That sounds really crazy, but you guys know what i mean. You can't just roll into the interviews anyhow, more times, you're trying to collect the job cool um. The pros of this is that um, you can hide your it's the same as the wigs, but you know it doesn't cost it doesn't cost anything. You know like once you have your scarf, that's what five pounds or you can get a more expensive scarf, cuter scarf. Whatever that's it, it's so cheap, so low effort. It'S also amazing for hair growth. Yeah. I remember in my final year of uni, my fourth year asking any of my friends. I literally wore a head scarf every single day for final year of uni and i definitely feel like it made a big impact on my hair growth. Obviously, i know it's not practical for everybody, but if you can have short stints of wearing a scarf, even if you just say okay for this week, i'm going to wear a skull, i'm going to wear i'm going to wear a headscarf or for these couple weeks Or for this month i'm going to wear a headscarf, it will make a difference cool. So i hope these styles have been. Um have been sort of informational. You know in terms of hair growth, it's not. There is no one-size-fits-all. Obviously, there are general things that you can do in general. Styles, that's what i've sort of mentioned, but there are you know other things you can do just love just the main thing. You need to do. Just love on your hair, just really love on your hair and it doesn't always mean manipulating your hair. It just means trying to really listen to your hair and what your hair is saying to you. It takes time so, if you're new to the hair growth journey like it takes time, even if you're not new, but you've only just had the time now it takes time and if you guys have any questions or want to see anything or have any specific questions And you want me to sort of help you out on your journey, feel free to message down below um, i'm free and available that i really want to help how you want to help others, because i have not always loved my hair. I'Ve not always had you know, hair that i could say that i was proud of um. I just haven't always felt that way about my hair um. It'S just just this is the truth. Um - and i want other people to to love and to feel like their hair is the best that they could the best that it could be for them, and i've struggled with thin fine natural hair, pretty much all my life, and it may not look like my Hair is thin and fine. It'S so crazy because of this twist out, but trust and believe me when i say my hair is thin and fine, it's crazy, but i knew that with hair with with length sort of comes thickness with length, your hair can almost be perceived to look thicker. So that's why i've been so keen on hair growth because, as my hair grows longer - and it just appears to be thicker - and so i'm really really grateful for that. I think my hair is like up to here now. Yes, obviously it's shrunken up, and so it's looking thick, but if it was completely elongated like you'd, be seeing gaps for days. It'S a mother but is what it is, and we thank god for growth. We thank god for um, for what he's given me shah, and i thank god for what he's given you, and i know that you know with a little bit of time effort you can get the results that you want and if you're like yeah, if you're realistic, But yeah you can get the results that you want um, so i'll see you guys in another video. Thank you for tuning in um. Don'T forget to like comment. Subscribe, bye,

Meduulla : Thinner 4 type hair is the representation I needed! Subscribed

It’sAndile: I totally relate to what you said about not always liking your hair. My relationship with mine is very slowly but surely improving and I hope one day I can get to where you are. My hair is still very short and it grows slow so I still have a long way to go

ThatFearLesslife: Love seeing thinner 4C hair as I don't have the thickest hair either but i love doing protective styles on my channel so i had to sub girl let me know what you think of them when you have a chance x

Thokozani Mkhize: I have fine 4c hair im struggling with length retention, very slow growth but i have hacked the system when it comes to edges. When i have braids on i leave them, i dont get them braided and i lay the edges if i need to and apply hair fertilizer and massage it in the rest of the time. It has worked like a charm and my butterfly edges are thriving i also have it in a bun a lot and i use gel wax with tea tree oil to get it to co operate and i find it helps with hair strength, my struggle stands dont break as much.

It’sAndile: Braids are great for me when I do it myself bc I can make them thin so they don’t break my hair or destroy my hairline The trick is to keep them in for about 3 weeks so they don’t pull on your scalp and hairline. This is a con bc it takes so long to put them in but I like the results so it’s worth it I have very little edges too lol

Ruby Jane: I have been searching for someone with thinner 4c/4b hair like me. My hair is about 16 inches long so it feels good to see someone with hair like mine

MsTAng: I love how honest you are in all your videos. I have the same hair type and problem areas you have and you have given me hope.

Tanaka: Also part of thin fine type 4 hair gang ‍♀️ so glad I found your channel

MacNCheeseCrayola: New subbie here! Thank you for this video.

Nkem Nelo: You're right constant application of heat causes breakage. I have butterfly edges too. Sounds cute. I like the uniformity of length you have. The longest part of my hair is longer than waist length...But I'm currently working on having a uniform length. Had a set back from hair colour I applied in 2018.

Rutendo Rusemo: am happy i found you, thin fine hair peeps, gather around for a selfie. i feel and hear u on the struggle of thin/fine hair. i struggle on length retention. new subbie
