Don't Forget To Live Your Extra Life.

Hi beautiful today we're a little dick hi beautiful. You look ravishing today. Thank you for being here today. We'Re watching some people do horrible perms themselves. Perms are not easy to do. They actually take a lot of patience and a lot of time. You need a good amount of education to do them correctly. There'S all kinds of things that go on with a perm, a lot of chemical reactions, and, if you don't do it right, you'll end up with really gross frizzy hair, that is half curly and half straight doing a perm at home as a person with no experience Is sketchy? Let'S not do that and you'll see why today, you should definitely not do it if you're not already convinced, let's watch some people do some perms and absolutely ruin their hair. Let'S do it. First up we have a video by a channel called a brendan and caroline. This is called perming. My own hair at home fail. I am gon na perm, my own hair, why the hell is the instructions written on the inside of the box? That'S quite a common thing to write the directions on the inside of the box for perms. I don't know why who's gon na take apart a box to read directions: gently shampoo, hair with clarifying shampoo and towel dry and we're back good. We did step one correctly. I didn't use any conditioner. I also didn't use clarifying shampoos because i don't have any. I just use normal shampoo girl, they didn't say, use clarifying shampoo for literally no reason clarifying shampoo helps get rid of all the dirt and oils off of your hair strand. That way, it's ready to absorb all of the chemicals that you put on it with the perm solution, so not clarifying. It is going to make the perm solution less effective, lock, damp, hair into sections and wrap those are not perm rods. I'M supposed to place something on the ends of my hair. No we're not we're using clips when you put the solution in the curl is going to turn out the way it's on whatever you're curling it on. So you want to make sure that it's very neat so you're not just like perming frisk into your hair, we're using duckbill clips to clip these rollers into your head. I'M sorry, i'm shocked. I have never seen anybody attempt to do a perm with velcro rollers. I don't even think the velcros are strong enough to withstand the solution. I think they might melt a little bit. These are so large. It'S not going to do anything to your hair, except maybe maybe, if you do it right, give you a little bit of volume. Otherwise, you need to use smaller rods. This is just a waste of your time and she's, using duckbill clips to clip her hair, which is going to make imprints on the hair. Whatever you have in your hair at the time you're using the perm solution, your hair's been permanently stuck like that. I don't know why. I'M explaining this don't use this as a tutorial. I don't know what i'm doing girl, what the [ __ ] are. We doing man, these sections are giant, and why are we directing the hair downwards? You'Re, not gon na get any volume. Okay, here's the next part that we're going wrong with where you're using a perm solution. You need to literally like stab the rollers with the perm solution and get it all inside of them. Otherwise, the hair wrapped around the top is going to get really wet with the perm solution and then the hair inside is not going to get any of the perm solution. So therefore, the curl is going to be really tight at the top and really loose at the bottom. So now i'm going to put this little cap on oh girl, you just put perm solution all over your skin. That is so bad for your skin. It'S literally breaking the bonds in your hair. I can only imagine what it's doing to your skin. So now i'm going to leave this in my hair for 20 minutes. My favorite part is the there's no rhyme or reason to how she placed the curlers. Like one side is going backwards, one side's going forward, it's a mess. She also didn't even do a test string. You need to see if the solution took properly before rinsing your hair. So you need to take one and kind of push it back to see how the curl pattern's looking or else you might not process it long enough and i'm just going to rinse it with warm water for five minutes and i've just been blotting these dry and Then we're gon na put the neutralizer in rinsing your hair for five minutes straight is one of the most important parts of doing a perm. You need to make sure you have the hottest water you can handle rinse it for exactly five minutes and then completely dry. The rods as much as possible before then putting the neutralizer on i'm kind of curious how curves work. So what i was thinking is like well, i guess what it could be doing, is sort of like calcification and like making like almost a crust on your hair and then, like you, know, you're neutralizing it to stop it from getting too crusty and stuff like that. That was the best explanation. I'Ve ever heard just kidding. It was absolutely terrible and it made no sense. I'M really mean today, you are being really mean tonight. I just wanted to like stop you really quickly and just be like simmer it down. Anyways, i'm going to continue to be mean. Listen if you don't want bradmon to react to your videos, don't post them! What happens when you do a perm? The perm solution reforms the bonds in your hair around the surface you put it on. So if your hair was down straight, you could potentially perm your hair straight. That'S actually you could do that, which is also called a relaxer they're, pretty much the same chemicals. You could also put your hair in a zigzag formation. Your hair would be permanently zigzagged. Anything you want so when you put the perm solution on it's breaking the bonds and reforming them and the neutralizer then hardens the bonds back up into that new position and that's how your hair stays in this new curly state all right. So, first off i want to say that for some reason the perm solution seemed to strip some of the color in my hair, like if it's dyed, so it just took out someone to die, which is fine, so perm solution often lightens your hair color. So it's kind of annoying, but it's best done on people with virgin hair. Honestly, you got ta be careful with that. Some of this formula is a really strip out color and your hair color can be very much affected by the perm solution. All right so you're ready for the reveal. Yes, i can't wait to see it. The final countdown 27. 26. um. Oh okay. I think maybe it's a little more wavy yeah, but i'm thinking that's just because i kept going like this while it was wet. So i just kind of shaped it. I love it looks really good. I'Ve always had a little movement in my hair. I'Ve never had pins straight hair. So i don't know if this is more wavy than usual. That'S that's it. That was a roller coaster. Definitely no research done before that they did that, i'm glad her hair didn't fall off. She still looks beautiful and next time, let's just do smaller rods. Let'S take our time with it. Let'S do it correctly, maybe even stay professional. You could do that as well. I was tough to watch. Nothing really went right, absolutely nothing. Let'S move on to the next video! Next up we have a video by the henslow show, and this is called a diy perma-gone wrong, hey guys, what's up it's a monday and i'm bored uh, i said that my hair has been like this for too long. Oh no, his hair's, already really bleached and he's gon na do a perm. I was thinking of either just shaving it off or doing something different. So i decided i'm gon na curl it. You might have to shave it off. After this part, my hair in four places, and it should be wet so did we shampoo it first, though, that's the real question: did we even do that? Why are you curling your hair because i'm bored we are using end papers, though, which is really great end papers, help keep the hair on the ends within the perm rod, so they don't just slip out. Okay. That looks like a great little moment with that rod. Okay, nevermind, it's a little floppy he's using the flexible curling rods to do his hair, which is fine. You know those are usually more for like beach waves and whatever his hair is a bit too short for this. I would have preferred him to use a very small rod like a hard rod to do this. He should not be perming his hair, while it's been completely bleached from black to blonde. Is such a bad idea? You don't do that. Your hair is going to snap, especially i don't even know what that box. He just showed was, but it looks like he bought it at some drugstore, and i don't know i just i don't trust it. This needs to be a bit tighter if he wants it to go well we're making our way up to the front of the head. I do wish he did the back first, but we're now going into the front um he's getting better as he goes. It'S actually not looking the absolute worst, i'm sure everyone's gon na say it's up. I didn't do it right. I have like different colors different sizes everywhere, because my hair here is, i don't know it's really like it's shorter because of my hair cut, whatever we'll see how it goes, you literally just put random rods around your head and, like you, do understand that your hair's Been permanently curled the way you do it right now right, i hate it here, there's also different kinds of perms that are stronger or less strong or better for colored hair, there's acidic and there's alkaline. So i hope you picked the right one. I don't know what this one is, what in the hell is that what is he using? I have never in my life, seen anything like this. What the other stuff stinks - and i don't think they said i can't wash my hair for like three days. This is a foam, perm solution. I'Ve never even heard of this. This is so weird and sketchy yeah. They said i can't wash it for like three days. Oh his hair looks nice. My hair is not going to look like that. Is it supposed to look like that? It'S not going to? I am so confused all right. Well, apparently, this foam just goes all around your hair. Like a perm solution. It is perm solution. Apparently i don't know i am baffle. I don't even know what to say, because i've never in my life heard of such a thing ever so i've um rinsed it rinsed the solution out. It'S i just write it over the sink for about like three minutes in warm water. It'S supposed to be five minutes, not like three minutes. It'S supposed to be five minutes. You rinse your hair for i'm gon na get angry in today's video. You guys gon na see me really pissed off everything i'm seeing today is such an absolute nightmare of a mess like it is bad. Next step is the neutralizer. It says that i'm supposed to put the neutralizer in a little bowl, which i will you need to dry your hair first as well, and i'm supposed to like apply it around. Oh shoot. I don't want it on my face. I'Ve. Never in my life seen a neutralizer like this. Never basically i just put the um neutralizer in so i just made it into little foamy, there's still some straight parts. I hope it's not a big deal. Oh my gosh, my hair looks so dry. I hope it's a tame curl, but i'm applying this conditioner that came in the pack. Hopefully it fixes it, otherwise, i'm gon na end up shaving. My head, i feel, like my hair, is melting. It'S because it is melting when you do a perm incorrectly on bleached hair. This is what happens. I just finished washing and conditioning my hair and all i can say, is it's a big [ __ ] up. Oh my god. I look like a matted poodle. Oh no, i was thinking of just cutting it myself, but i'm gon na mess it up even more so i'm gon na go to the barbers and get it fixed. Since i picked up my hair, i got a haircut yes, yes, oh it looks so good god. He cut it all off. There was no saving that hair. I can only imagine what that barber said. He'S like: let's get rid of it all. Let'S not do that ever again. If you do it, please go to a professional, and hopefully the person doing it is going to be like you cannot color your hair um before doing this, because you know it's just not a good idea, go with your virgin hair and get a really tight beautifully Done set and do it correctly and it'll actually look really good, but never do this again. Never ever do it again. Let'S move on to the next video up. Next we have a video by sunflower shanna, and this is called. I gave myself a perm hi guys, so i may or may not have decided to perm my hair at home. I thought you know. I have a cosmetology license, so i thought you know why not just do it at home. This might be a complete disaster, but yeah you're telling me you have a cosmetology license. Okay, so you're saying that maybe you might be able to do it correctly. I don't know i'm not getting that vibe, i'm getting like the opposite kind of vibe for some reason. So i got my hair in the rollers. I did not do a good job. Nor did i take my time, i'm just going to tell you that now it's going to come out pretty messy, but i kind of like the messy look all right. Well, beauty! School! Didn'T teach you anything did it we barely passed? Didn'T we oh you're about to perm your hair, literally as flat as possible, all that hair is being pulled down to the sides which is going to make your hair flat to your head when it's permed, also the placement there's no rhyme or reason to the placement And the perm rods are not even put in correctly and they're, not even like twisted around each other, so what the hell is going on today, guys like i mean it's hard yes to do yourself, but this is like this is next level laziness with all these Videos today um, i did not take my time as you can see, but it'll do so. The next part of this process is to apply the curling lotion, so i'm gon na get some scissors and cut the top off of this, and i'm just gon na put this all over my head before you ask no, i'm not gon na be putting cotton around. My hair, yes, i'm doing this all completely the wrong way because, frankly, patient - and i want to do this now - just putting that out there - i know i'm. I know what i'm supposed to be doing. I know um all the hairstylists watching this are probably gon na cringe, but just do with me so, okay, there is where you should maybe listen to yourself a little bit a little bit more okay. I don't know she knows that she's doing it wrong and she just keeps going and it just gets worse and worse each time she does anything else. You know i mean i put cotton on your hair. While you do the perm solution, your girl, you could literally go blind. Okay, it's the moment. Everyone has been waiting for. It is finally time to see the curls, i'm really nervous. I hope i did this right. So, let's just see if it worked. Oh, it's curly. Do you guys see that i would say so this is so chaotic here is the result of perming my hair? This is just what it looks like i really like it. I think it's really pretty. It gives my hair a lot of volume. My hair is usually very flat up top but yeah. I honestly really do love it and i think it looks cool. She got away with murder because she did literally everything wrong and it doesn't look horrible. I wouldn't think twice about it. If i saw her on the street, i wouldn't be like whoa, she damaged her hair. You look good like i'm, not mad, it doesn't get more chaotic than this. My dreams are gon na be haunted tonight by perm. Fails i hated every second of that hope. You enjoyed it make sure you guys subscribe if you are not already right down below right. Beatrice: Brad is slowly turning into a Gordon Ramsay for hairs

Just Peachy: When I was in beauty school, one girl did her whole head in tight twist knots & put perm solution all over them. Needless to say, the knots broke off at the root & we learned how to style a wig

Ruby Lizard: Brad: "We did step one correctly!" Girl: "I didn't use clarifying shampoo" Brad: ಠ_ಠ

Michaela 7: “I look like a matted poodle….” As a professional groomer I can say…. Yes…. Yes you do ❤️

Lynn Ingram: That one lady with a “cosmetology license” is that one kid in school who says she is actually a princess and has a 300 IQ and a pet tiger

CARAT Mom: I love how people at home with absolutely NO experience film themselves talking nonsense with absolute authority.

Madeline Carmichael: “She got away with murder because she literally did everything wrong”

SpitFire: As someone who permed her hair 100 times in the 80’s and 90’s, I can smell this video. A perm is like decomposition, once you smell it, you’ll never forget it.

Dancing Octopus: That girl is all “I have a cosmetology license so I could do this at home” And then “Im intentionally not doing this correctly” Ok...

Yanna Lee: Most of the time, Brad actually isn’t even harsh. He’ll complain up until the final reveal where he’s like “okay wait! That’s a look”

Sometimes it snows in April: They write the instructions on the inside of the box because they want you to really think about it before you jack up your hair! They’re like, THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE SIS

Carla Hallabrin: Wow I have never seen mean Brad before, he's usually so supportive. I thought the highest crime in his book was bleaching the roots first but nope, it's clearly putting curling rods in randomly

Sleipnirseight: His confidence about the calcification crust

Elliott Knapp: "You can permanently zig zig your hair." *Alternative fashion has unlocked a new skin! Would you like to apply it?*

CarolinaGirl: This first couple was a deadly duo. They basically threw up their middle fingers at the proper way to give a perm. They went about the whole process using whatever they had laying around. Had NEVER before seen someone use regular rollers to do a perm until this video. It was fun to watch, especially when dude gave his bizarre explanation of what a perm is/does.

Jo Brasheare: Seeing brad getting so frustrated with people messing up things he’s professionally trained to do is really satisfying

Kate Johnston: This is remarkable and informative. My hairdresser would be appalled. I always thought my hairdresser was over the top with her perming protocols, now I think not. You need a Pre-appointment assessment of your hair with pre-perm instructions if she agrees to do it, also advising how much hair will probably need to be cut off once down. There is no touching your hair for two days afterwards including a silk loose hair wrap to wear for those two days and for sleeping in from then on. And finally the week after post perm inspection. I’m sure she would literally have a seizure watching this.

Mo With That Glow: I didn’t realize a relaxer perm is essentially the same as a curly perm The curly perm instructions seemed so much more detailed than “relaxers” like African Pride and Just for Me

DytchWytch: My mom did an at home perm, on her platinum bleached hair, in the 60s. She basically gave herself a platinum afro, and couldn't even get her hair to wrap around regular curlers, after the perm. She wound up shaving her head, and wearing a platinum wig for six months, until her hair grew back. I had that wig for years.

???? no thanks: i was feeling chaotic and my current workplace doesn’t allow “unnatural” hair colours but this video put the fear of god in me... thank you king for making me think twice

Brittany Fry: Brad’s patience being tested for 16 minutes straight:

Davud Brian: For those who are going to perm at home anyways, I took notes lol. These tips are from all Brad's perm videos. Home Perm Brad Mondo Tips ~ End papers ~ Even sections ~ Wet hair ~ Looks on rod is end game look ~ Types of perm solutions - Acidic • Gentle ph value of 6-7 • Not gonna break bonds • For colored hair or dry - Alkaline • Ph value of 9.5 • Not for colored or dry • Only for healthy hair - Exothermic • Acidic or alkaline ~ Consistant rows ~ Never gonna get a wave ~ Still going to have to style everyday ~ Check every 10 minutes ~ Dont rub hair after perm, be gentle ~ Use clarifying shampoo before perm ~ Whatever you use to roll hair with, is what hair will turn out like ~ Dont roll downward ~ Stab rollers with perm solution ~ Dont get on skin ~ Test strand is must ~ Rinse hair for five mins exactly, hottest water you can handle, completely dry the rods before neutralizer ~ Perm strips out hair color ~ End papers help keep hair at ends stay in rods ~ Brad dont know what mouse/foam perm is, so don't use it ~ Perm done incorrectly on bleached hair will melt hair off ~ Put cotton around hair, so you don't go blind

Michelle Porowski: This is a great teaching resource thanks Brad! My Grade 11 hairstyling class is right in the middle of our chemical texture unit and we are discussing perms ... this will tie in nicely with our chat on sections, size of rollers and processing time!! (also thanks for bleeping out the curses lol) cant wait to show them this video tomorrow!

blacktawny: Hey Brad! I would recommend you to watch Korean/Japanese hair techniques! The kind of foam perm the guy is doing is actually pretty common there : ) perming hair there is really prevalent and they do a lot of things I could never ask in my European salon bc they had noooo idea about it. Like the C-curl. You can watch hairdressers Kiu channel, he's a famous hairdresser in Korea and his content is very funny and he's explaining a lot.

Noa Noa: My grandma used to perm her own hair. She always looked great I had no idea it was so complicated , she made it seem so easy

Ilex X: Many many moons ago... hell, actually decades, I decided to perm the top of my hair to give it more body. As a professional, I knew what I was doing, and I did a fantastic job. Except I forgot that I had a few highlights lurking amongst the dyed hair on my head. So two of the rods came out looking like overcooked noodles. Fortunately, I had otherwise great hair and a was able to mask it very well with styling.

Jeremy & Dana Mumford: Brad please tell whoever tried to tell you to be nice, to kick rocks. You are you. That’s what we love. Please don’t change. If u only ever say “it looks great, good job” then how will we ever learn anything? Plus your never mean! Your honest! Never change!

linaa: me: on accutane, depressed, purging, didn’t hear a compliment in a while brad: hi beautiful me in tears: thank you :,)

All Zoned and Tucked In: A few years ago, I colored my hair and 4 maybe 5 days later went to my hairdresser to get a perm. I told her that I had colored my hair a few days before. I literally had no idea what damage would be done by coloring it before perming it. She was hesitant, but went through with the perm anyway. I trusted her. And yeah... my hair got sooooooooooooooo fried! My hair turned into this elastic type grossness. It was AWFUL!!! I had a coworker who gave me a bottle of leave in conditioner, keratin something. Then I had another hairdresser get me a tub of leave in conditioner from Paul Mitchell. Trust me when I say that I globbed that stuff in my hair for the next few months. It was just soooo awful. I used to get the best perms from a different hairdresser. She did such a fantastic job, but she stopped doing hair after a while. It has taken six years to recover from that mess.

john: Thing I love about Brad, is that he NEVER judges anyone, he might throw a little shade but overall he is always supportive of every video he watches! Most hairdressers judge the shit out of anyone who does their own hair! Love you Brad!

Karlin Bennett: Story time: back in the looovely 80’s my mom wanted me to have curly hair. Oglvie home perms. That’s all I’m saying. Oh, that and my hair was curled so tight I looked like a poodle. It was awful. My mom did it twice. I have 2 yearbook photos with bad home perms in them. *shudders*

Rachel Barker: I have never ever permed my own hair. Had mine permed at hairdressers UK. I have always bleached my own hair for over 20 year's!! Thank goodness always went well. Would never bleach my hair more than once. Been purple pink red blue, turquoise my best colour I love is purple punk. So LOVE watching your videos xxx

ItsKyXoxo: The same thing happened to me as in the second video. I shaved my hair, bought a wig, and it's grown all back out now :) don't do this on bleached hair guys

Jes Zee: I like when Brad is “mean”. It’s honesty from a pro. People need to hear the truth, and stop doing their damn hair at home! Lol

Kiandra Sch: I'm a hairdresser in Germany. I've never seen this foamy solution but I always apply the neutralizer with a sponge. It's actually a really common technique. ☺️

CORY T: I have just started watching this. You my Dear are so awesome! I had a horrid hair burn, almost life ending. I just love watching these cause of your knowledge of Hair Art and care and you know how important hair is to someone:)

Red Rider: When I was 17 I had curly red hair got bullied decided I wanted straight hair. Heard I could straighten it with perm solution, it worked for me!

riskybubble: I always wait for Brad's reaction like I'm sitting on pins and needles. If he approves, I play like I approved all along. If he doesn't approve, I will be like "Yeah, that's a nope from me, girl". PS. I would be terrified to do my own hair in front of him. Lol. :D Also, it makes me laugh every time he says "Girl, what are we doinggg?" like he is so frustrated at what he is witnessing... xD This is my kind of comedy.

Carolina Ferreira: I love when Brad is "mean", like yes call people out on their shit

Barnhouse Designs PA: I used to help my grandmother in her beauty salon in the 80’s do these perms. I literally thought I’d seen all types of perms until this video

amy mattaliano: Question: What would happen if you got perm rods, used the papers on the ends, then applied the curling solution to the hair as you wrapped it around the rod? I feel like that would actually work to get it on all the of the strands so everything would be equally coated. And, then of course, follow the rest of the directions

Michelle Bastiani: My aunt told me and my cousin at a young age to never perm our hair. She said that our family's hair is not the hair for it lol. It was due to her having a very bad experience that she gave us this info but I must say I'm glad I listened.

Lenusniq _: The last girl though... the whole time she talked about how she knew she did wrong, how hairstylist watching were probably cringing, and then before the "reveal" she said: "I hope I did this right?"... Wow

Candice G: “We barely passed, didn’t we?” I died at this part.

Allison Smith: I remember in middle school my friends grandma tried to perm mine and my friends hair for a semi formal at school, and luckily she messed up by rinsing my hair out of the curlers so instead of giving me a frizzy haired mess she just rinsed all the solution out. I never noticed a difference from before and after so i dodged a bullet lol

spiltmilk27: Dear Brad Mondo, I just wanna say thank you. Thank you for being a safe place on the inteternet where i dont have to deal with all the ridiculousness of our world right now. Sincerely, Super fan Holly

Parker Zeigler: My aunt is the only person I've ever seen do an at home perm and not mess it up shes been doing it herself sense the 70's shes such a pro

Sally Hay: Back in the 80's, my friend's mum used to perm my hair using a home kit - and it always turned out just as I wanted. I haven't had a perm since, and certainly wouldn't try perming my own hair - I know my limitations! On another note, at the very beginning of this video, I almost had to cry... until Brad said 'You look ravishing today' - then all is suddenly well again in my world

Bella Thompson: Why is Brad the only person that compliments me lol

Robin Right: Brad, I get such a kick out of your videos! I went to beauty school back in the dark ages (ie; 1975) and I've seen some crazy stuff but the videos you review are next level crazy entertainment! Keep it up - I love watching you!

Eve Brown: I remember my Mom always put a Perm on my Grannies hair, but to get more volume in it. And even these things (rods? They also were from hard plastic with a rubber on it to fixiate the hair) were quite small. Also, the liquid was saturated with a sponge. Also, back in the 80's, early 90's it was a real thing to get a perm. *lol*

abbie: i have vivid memories of watching my grandma perm her own hair but she's been doing it for years and i always had fun watching her i never really saw my grandma have issues but that's probably because she read directions. My grandma is legally blind guys please do your research and read directions while you made potentially bad decisions.

adam e: Subscribed to you today and 4 hours later im still watching lol. Love how positive you are when critiquing lol. Can you please make a video teaching us dark brown almost black thick wavy haired girls how to go blonde.. I know we can't go platinum blonde but how can we get a Decent color??? And are you ever in Toronto??? Please come visit love you!!

Candy Helms: I love how Brad is honest with his critique.. he's not "mean", he's real.

Antoinette Chaton: This makes me feel a certain kind of bad. My great grandma, grandma and my mom did their own perms ever since I can remember. My great grandma always had short strawberry blonde permed hair. My grandma had what we called 'poodle bangs' they were so tight that she looked like a poodle with wavy long hair in the back. My mom had big curly hair from her teen years in the 80s all the way til about 1999.

CL: I’ll never forget when I went to a stylist for a perm. I had asked for large, beach waves and she put in itty bitty rods. I asked if that was going to make them super tight and springy and she said no, that when you remove them, they loosen and I would get those large beach waves I was looking for. I was skeptical but figured…hey, I’m not the professional. I ended up with a spiral perm and if I hadn’t been so devastated, I would have laughed at the look on her face when she realized her mistake.

Apple Jacks: Every time I watch Brad’s videos I’m always like the more you learn ✨✨

Komnini: I stopped getting my hair permed years ago, I used to love to get it done. Yes, I had virgin hair. But for some reason there would always be a spot on the crown of my head that would have a small patch of spikey hair, like it broke off. The hairdresser could never tell me why. Do you know why this happened, Brad?

Krista W: Perms seem like the worst thing to do ever, especially to yourself lol.

Evelyn Taylor-Williams: I love how Brad is so honest and explains why some things don't work. I went to a hairdresser for my perm, she did it wrong...she should've been watching Brad. I waited 2 months til i chemically straightened it with perm solution. Never getting a perm again, i want my hair short (ish) to get rid of the insane frizz....and maybe go a crazy colour, i don't know yet

Katie || Wild Moon Child: I permed my hair in the summer... after going ginger last February(I'm naturally a very light blonde)... I got over the ginger quickly and did a colour remover and then went mint. And was mint for 4 months and then permed it... which was no bueno. I then went emerald. Then added yellow to go bright green. Then I started washing it out daily so I could go back mint.. I did a bleach bath and then went back mint at Christmas and here I am still mint. I have had to cut my hair into a bob to get rid of a lot of the fried hair hahaha.. luckily I dig a bob! 2020 was a year of chaos in SO MANY WAYS. Lol

Susan Szabo: I love the way you comment each person styling their hair Brad. Thanks for posting!!!!

JustHannah InWonderland: My grandma used to perm her hair herself for years and she always did it so perfectly that I never realized how hard it was until I saw this video

Lauren C.: Brad: "Don't give yourself a perm at home." Unless you're Jenna Marbles, then do whatever you want.

Destiney James: Brad: “You look beautiful today..” Me laying in bed stuffing my face while wearing a 10 year old bonnet I found in the closet: “meh”

Mari J: When I was in cosmo school the *only* thing I was good at (as far as hair) was perms! Came out perfect every time. All perm clients were sent to my station. But I sucked at EVERYTHING else hair wise. And that is why I don’t do hair.

Cheryl Ziriax: My mom permmed my hair multiple times when I was growing up and a couple times as an adult. And I gave her one or two perms also. We decided to use water while we rolled the hair since we weren't quick. Then we would put the solution on after it was completely rolled. It always turned out well. When my hair was about 1-1.5' long I went to a professional and had a spiral perm, it was my favorite look.

MissMichSan: Years ago I worked as a caregiver my patient trusted me to perm her hair i followed directions and I was proud her hair turned beautiful she was my 84 year old patient and loved to perm her hair. :)

Carrie-anne Aldridge: Hello Brad I just wanted to say I’m obsessed with your videos! You come across as so sweet and I can see you are passionate about your craft and helping others . I’m off work at the moment as I just found out my dog has terminal cancer . I now have two dogs that are terminal . I just wanted to say that your videos are helping me take my mind off feeling really sad and I just wanted to pass on my gratitude I hope you are well, sending much love!

JS: I remember getting a perm back in the late 90's, I was in my late teens. My hair was down to my hips and the salon had to get special rods to put my hair in for the perm, yet even with them doing that, the curls definitely had that "ramen noodles" look, which left me very disappointed, especially since I had virgin hair and thusly had pretty high expectations for it looking half decent about not being a frazzled mess. I was very naive to the existence of heat styling tools and I wish I would have just gotten a nice curling iron or a crimper. It's all obviously grown out since then and it's still really long, but I definitely couldn't ever see myself doing that again. If I ever want big curls and volume I just use tools and tease it. But hey, at least I never tried to do it myself! ‍♀️

Danielle O'Connor: My mom gave great at home perms to me & herself when I was a kid. She did fall for the scam of the shampoo & conditioner that was supposed to curl your hair‍♀️. I'm not really sure how this happened since she was a chemistry teacher, who grew up with her mom running a beauty shop in her home. I got my hair permed professionally once & it legit looked like Emmy Rossum's hair in Song Catcher. I was not a fan.

Laoise M: Ah, now I know what happened to my hair when I was 14 and got my first perm! I walked out of there looking like Roseann Rosannadana!!! Watching this video made me remember how badly my scalp burned and I told the stylist but she just ignored me. My money is she clearly left it in my hair too long and likely didn't rinse enough (I have very long hair)

Dr R: Brad - Hii Beautiful ! You look ravishing today Me who is browsing YouTube without washing my face for last 2 days and having heavily oiled hair ! Thanks Brad

Elisa: I actually learned to put in curlers/perm rods (what ever they're called), when i worked in an nursing home. End paper and all. My entire morning routine, was to put curlers in hair all I needed was some perm solutions But to do it on myself??? Hmmm no.

Juyoung C: I always thought my hair was straight cause well I’m Asian, but the moment my hair grew long I could see waves now it’s more curly so I never have to do this a lot of people say I’m lucky

Sieglinde de Boer: I've used velcro curlers to perm my hair. Of course my hair got stuck to it and I had to pull it lose, while it was still wet of course it was terrible. I cut it all off

Mel: Brad needs to be doing a reaction addressing the gorilla glue girl situation.

Pooka Princess: I've done a lot of things at home to my hair but I've followed 1 rule my stylist told me years ago....NEVER EVER bleach or perm your hair! That's my job!

Ashley Howard: My grandma used to perm my hair at home and it always looked awesome! Granted it would’ve been better if I didn’t have BANGS ‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️ but the rest of it always looked so good

AmberLynn: The defiant cosmetologist "I hope I did this right" after telling us she did everything WRONG

CTrax: Brad your hair looked so great in this episode!

Cristina W: Brad: "You barely passed [beauty school] didn't you?" Me: *CHOKES*

ACWells13: I used to have a perm once or twice a year when I was a kid to make my stage ringlets hold- but luckily my Mom and Gran are both qualified hairdressers and my Gran used to own a salon before I was born :D

Erina&Lance: Love the mean brad...love it. Good quality this is what I’m here for

loubear cake-maker: I love that top u have on.i love green,it's so under rated,looks great on u Brad.x

xxYOURBIJOUxx: Frothing the neutraliser activates the chemicals to set the disulphide linkages through oxidation. That is why you should always rub each rod after applying it in liquid form to activate and massage it through the hair leaving for a minimum of 10 minutes. Also re-rub hair after the rods have been removed without stretching the curls and leaving for a further 5 minutes before rinsing.

Random Person: I’ve been a hairstylist since 2004. My favorite thing to do in cosmetology school was to practice wrapping perms. It was so much fun. Ya never really do them in the salon unless the clientele is older. Just sayin. On longer hair ya gotta do a spiral wrap or piggyback. This video made me laugh and cringe.

Lisa-Marie: I love how I thought it couldn‘t become worse than the at home bleach fails hahaha… well I was wrong

Cass GT: My crazy, thick, naturally curly hair looks like a bad spiral perm at the best of times. More power to anyone with the guts to do this

Jessica Wassermann: I think this is my favourite hair brad has had

Jonikki19: My mom is a wonderful cosmetologist but she does my hair and hers so lazy, she assures me every time “I’d NEVER do this to a client” lmao

Mary Ellen Thompson: I gave a home perm one time in my life and I never did it again. The poor victim whose hair I permed was lucky to still have any once it was over. I thought I followed the instructions completely (for a fifteen year old), but her hair was fried. My poor mom!

Bo B: One of my favorite reaction videos the sass the sarcasm the no bullshit reaction all on point

Paige Roarr: Brad, one day your gonna have to be honest & say "hello beautiful, you're looking a hot mess today. Still pretty though" cause that's me watching your videos. Huge messy bun, no makeup shoving my face with powdered donuts

Katharina Haf: I feel the second guy. Ive got a Perm on my very light bleach hair from my hairdresser. She said it gaves me volume. My hair was fried from the top to the bottom. It was horrible! Never never a Perm again!

BooksnBones: "if you do it wrong you'll get gross frizzy hair that's half curly half straight" Me: You mean just my normal hair?

Swayspirit: I once permed my hair at home by putting it into lots of thin plaits! It made my hair straighter!!!

Chantel Read: when I was 12 I went to a beauty school because a girl I knew from church was going there and she needed people to practice perms on and so I went and sat through the process for like 2 and 1/2 hours and then the perm only lasted a week and fell out, turns out the solution that every beauty student used was a bad batch and didn't work on anybody and tbh im still a little angry about it

Riverbend1752: Watching this video makes me so happy I'm naturally curly. I don't have to deal with all that stuff to have curly hair.

ash: I honestly didn’t think people, especially young people, still willingly gave themselves perms. very appreciative my mom never let me get one ❤️
