How To Get Gorgeous Curly Hair- With A Pencil!

On request from the many who asked me how I achieve this look, well here it is!

5 Most Asked Questions:

1.How long did this take you? I have very thick and long hair; this took me roughly about 1.5hrs - 2hrs.

2.Do you have to use the foil?

No, thats optional. It just find that it helps distribute heat evenly.

3.Will this method damage my hair?

When applying any sort of heat to the hair, I recommend putting on a heat protecting solution; as any heat to the hair is not that great for your hair especially if you frequently apply heat to your hair on a daily basis. When washing the hair, to prevent knots and tangles, use a good bit of conditioner in your hair and leave it in for about 5-10min before rinsing. This method is not anymore harmful then just straightening or regularly curling your hair.

4.What if I have short hair?

If you have short hair, I would not recommend tight curls the size of a pencil; that will give you super short poodley-like hair. Try a bigger size, like 1inch size curls. It will look fabulous! Go to any craft store and find bigger wooden sticks.

5. How do I get my curls longer?

Flip your hair upside down and blow dry your hair evenly for about half a minute (depending on your hair type), but be careful doing this as you want just enough heat to loosen the curls a little, not to take your curls right out! If your hair does not hold curls well, having really fine hair, leave it be as during the day the curls loosen on their own. So if you're planning on going out that night, do this method a few hrs before, maybe in the afternoon.

For all hair types!

1. Pencil

2. Aluminum Foil- Helps distribute heat evenly

3. Flat Iron- With high heat temperatures

Enjoy!

Correction** a lot of people, different races have this type of hair and maybe not as exactly as I described it, I gave it a general mild description.,I didn't feel like going into detail about it, there's no need to. This is just a video on how to get this type of hair NO MATTER who you are, what race you are or where you are from. In fact, it's irrelevant. So relax people. If you like this hair, here it is, if not, then it's just not for you. It's that simple. Who cares about the rest. I said African American because I originally was inspired by my close friends (who are African American) and have this hair, there's nothing strange or odd or RACIST about that! Some of ya'll need to quit finding things to be mad about... There are only good intentions here! P.S. Sorry, I know my lighting is bad!

Hey everybody, I'm gon na make a video today, basically explaining how to achieve that gorgeous african-american, beautiful curly hair. I haven't found a method that works for me, so I had to brainstorm and kind of come up with something, and this has worked very well for me. In the past - and it's a really great and fun hairdo to do every once in a while - it takes a little bit of time, but it's so worth it and you stick around I'll. Show you how to get started. So first thing is: first, you definitely want to pick a size of pencil a pencil side. I definitely recommend using thicker pencil, bigger thicker wooden pencils if you want bigger curls, but this side seems to work just fine for me at least it to warden nothing plastic or anything like that. Just because you're dealing with heat and hair and melting would just you just just avoid that I'm just stick to wouldn't so anyway, beside the wooden pencil, we have aluminum foil, and I already grabbed this sheet and cut it up into squares here. It'S just a simple square foil, and then you need my iron, so those three objects. You will definitely need to achieve this. Look it's super simple and don't forget a brush? Okay, okay, so you want to make sure your hair is clean, so make sure you watched it blow dried it and then we can get started. Don'T forget to put it like a nice heat protectant solution on your hair, especially in I've already done so. You go ahead, you get. The first thing you want to do is to section your hair and kind of really a section of its sort of, particularly because I'm going to be starting from the bottom grab, just a few strands at the bottom and breast open up. Alright and I will grab the lowest one grab your pencil, and let me stress this for a second: you are going to want to wrap your hair up to the very right, but you're gon na have like this flat hair that turned into really curly hair, and You don't really want that. You want to start at the base and make that really important. You just wrap it. Get your aluminum foil, get your flat iron and go ahead and start at the base. You won't need a lot of heat on one strand, and this is the easy part, hold your hair and just slide the pencil out, and you should have this really great girl, starting from very right. Just think. We wanted you're gon na. Do this to all of your hair, but you won't be done yet so stay tuned, alright guys. So I finished my air and this is what it looks like be disappointed. We'Re not done you. Can I mean, if you like this look, you can I'm sure you can rock, but we're not done how? What you're supposed to do now is to take every single strand and separate it about two to four times I like to start from the bottom up. If it gets free, so I had to clip some of the hair back. This is really crazy, so we did a few strands. So this is the finished. Look I own a lot of fun with this. I just go out and just sport this you can even put it up any fun or anything I just like, maybe putting the big band around or something, but here it is, and it did take some time I'm not gon na lie, but it was worth it Is so much um, this look will usually advise you good two days, if you don't sweat your stay away from my boy sure and take good care real watch like a good two days, two to three days and be careful high school, that's about it. I hope you guys like, and let me know how it worked for you.

meteachermarcia:  I am black, I wear my hair in a naturally kinky state. When I wear a twist out or braid out, my hair looks big and curly and I absolutely love it. So doing a tutorial on how to get your straight hair to look like mine is a compliment in my book and I am feeling the love. It's not offensive at all so ignore the haters. When black women wear straight weaves or wigs or chemically straighten their hair to look like other races, I don't think those races feel offended either. Imitation is a form of flattery. All those hours doing your hair paid off and you look amazing. Rock those curls girl!

Rylee: i did this yesterday, it took about an hour and a half, but its turned out beautiful and it was so worth it!! i loved this hairstyle

Chelsea Shaw: I love this style. I never knew that you could achieve this look with a pencil. I can't wait to try this on my extensions. Thank you for the detailed tutorial. This comment is also from someone that is "black". : )

Lilly Helige: OMG!!!! I absolutely love the tutorial you made! It took me almost 2 hrs to do my hair and it is gorgeous!!!!

J: Oh my gosh these are so gorgeous! And to everybody who is upset that she called them "African American curls," she thinks they are beautiful so she doesn't mean anything bad by it. Typically, it is black girls that have curly hair like this. If you are black and have hair like this, lucky you! It's beautiful! If you don't have hair like this, then love the beautiful hair you do have. Sometimes things may sound racist but she's complimenting this hair style so just be happy.

Sylina Larriva: Ah I just love this hair style, my sister's hair is naturally this way and I always tell her how jealous I am of it (she's 13 and at the stage where she hates it). I just did this (without the foil) and it came out amazing! thanks for the great video! <3

TheIndieMusicSource: Omg!! I've been searching for a hair tutorial exactly like this to achieve this exact look. Thank you so much for taking the time to post this, it must have taken you ages! Definitely trying it out when I have time. And to the people saying that she's stealing the look from black girls and claiming it for her own... no. I've seen white women with hair that is exactly like this naturally as well.

Summer Rose: i like how everyones saying the foil will melt lmao we wrap potatoes in the stuff and bake them in a 400 degree oven for like an hour, you people really think it will melt from ur little flat iron hahahaha im doing this right now and loving it!

Chloe Gervais: Oh my gosh! This is an amazing hair style and mine lasted for about three days! You did such an amazing job!

Nayra Souza: Seu cabelo ficou tão natural ! Ficou lindo demais, demais ! □♥

Ruth-Ann Holness: Hey girl. I am a black caribbean girl and i just want you to know that i am very proud of you. Your hair looks fabulous girl!! Thumbs up!

Chevere1981: I love this! I think it's cute. Also, what is up with Black people being offended? As a 50+ Black woman, I can say that I actually LIVED THROUGH a time when nearly EVERY Black woman straightened her hair and White people NEVER wanted to emulate anything about Black culture, except for the music. Now, natural or curly Black hair is seen as beautiful. Well, it's about time and praise the LORD! Lighten up and be glad that someone wants to be like you/us. Don't you know that imitation is the highest form of flattery? Of course, other races might have this tight of a curl pattern, but for them it's not the norm and for Black hair, it is—that's why she made the reference to Black hair. Some people just seem to want to find a reason to be offended.

Paige Hagberg: Oh my god, thank you so much for this! I was trying to find something easy like this and you brought it! THANKS SO MUCH!

Irina Muzyka: My curls came out perfect!! Everyone though it was my natural hair

c: I tried it without the foil and it also gave cute tight curls (: I love the messy/sexy look after brushing them out. If your curls turned out wavy or not "tight" enough, try holding the straightener over your hair for a longer duration. (I took 10secs each from top to bottom of the pencil)

Cynthia Boghosian: This is super cute. Take too much time in my hair but I can use it on my daughter! Thanks for the tutorial! PS. Don't mind the haters' comments. They're ignorant people that have closed minds.

Most people say it's a mixed girl's hair although I am mixed, the curly mess on my head definitely comes from my mothers side. Don't worry about these simple minded people. Great video by the way ☺️
