How To: Sleek Ponytail On Dense, Coarse 4C Hair

Hi guys welcome back to my channel so today i'm going to show you how i did this slick back ponytail on my 4c hair and be honest with you. It wasn't easy to get here, but i eventually made it work. So today i'm going to attempt to do well. I did a sleek ponytail on my first hair. I'Ve never done a sleek ponytail like this. Before you know. I always see people do it where they like really press their hair down and everything. I don't really do those kinds of styles, because my hair is foresty and it's very coarse, so it takes a lot to really press and slick my hair down, so i don't even bother, but i decided to try it out, because i have this really really nice Ponytail that i've been wanting to use, i wanted to do a style where i could you know, slick my head down and put this ponytail on it and it just this style is so adorable. It came out way cuter than i expected it to so. I'M going to show you exactly what i do to sleep down my 4c here. My hair is very, very coarse. It'S very, very kinky, so getting here was not easy. I'M going to show you everything i use and all the products i'm going to be using are from funky's daughter if you're not already subscribed, please go ahead and click that subscribe button down below turn the notification button notified. When i upload my videos, i will stop and reduce it tight and let's jump straight into the video okay. So i just washed my hair. Now i'm going to deep condition, i'm using the heel and renew deep conditioning mask um. I run after that stuff a lot, but thank god i have a whole new container, so i'm just gon na apply that straight to my hair, as you can see, my eyes are red. I literally just finished washing my hair, and that is the best time to apply your deep conditioner immediately after washing, so i'm just gon na apply section by section, then right now, i'm doing a little bit of finger detangling. This is how i finger detangle, my hair. I just go through my hair and piece by piece if i feel any tangles, i easily um untangle them. I easily um loosen up the tangles if you're using a good, deep conditioner. It makes that easy for you to do and if you like, using combs and brushes, go ahead and do that. But personally i like to finger detangle i've been doing it for years. I'M used to doing it, but that is what i do and detangle my hair and apply the deep conditioner all over my hair. It'S such a deep conditioning mask it makes your hair feel really really soft, and it has this means feeling that gives your scalp a very nice tingly sensation. So it also helps to stimulate blood flow to your scalp, which also aids with hair growth. So now i'm done i'm just going to put plastic up my head: leave it on for a couple of hours so that everything really soaks in then i'm going to rinse it out. So here i am just rinsing out my hair and after this we are going to jump straight into styling. Oh, my hair felt amazing after washing and deep conditioning. So now i'm going to moisturize my hair. I'Ve done all the other sections, so i'm just working on the front. As you can see, i'm spraying my hair with some water. Then i'm going to be taking super curl for this style that we're going to be doing. I chose to use super curl because super cool is very, very, very hydrating, as you can see, i just put water on that section and see how it's already shrinking up. That is how my hair shrinks like crazy, but yeah um. This is super curl. It'S very soft, it's very lightweight! I love to use it during the summer because it deeply hydrates and moisturizes my hair, without leaving my hair too greasy or without causing excessive build up in my hair, so it allows moisture to absorb into my hair better. So after i apply that make sure it soaks in i'm just going to twist that section up and move on to the next section, it also gives your hair this really nice healthy, shine as well, so yeah super curl is definitely my go to during summer. During the winter time, during the colder months, i prefer to use extra butter because a little bit thicker, but during the summer oh super curl, is it so when i'm done moisturizing all my sections, i'm going to release my twist - and this is what my hair is Looking like, i rarely have my hair like this. I don't think a lot of people have seen my hair in this state before um, because i usually keep my hair twisted but yeah when i apply moisturizer to my hair and let it soak up and shrink them. This is what my hair looks like. This is table length, fussy, hair and it still shrinks a little bit more. But now i'm just defining my parts for the style that we're about to do. Then i'm going to be taking thirsty, curl and i'm just going to spray that all over my hair. So for this slick backstab, where you're doing it on very dense, coarse fussy, hair, you want to make sure that your hair is damp the entire process, because when your hair is damp, it makes it easier for you to mold. Your hair makes it that way to sleep by your hair, because your hair is softer when it's damp, so i'm just keep your spray bottle or testicle in hand as you're doing this, so i've done once and i'm about to start doing the other side. This thing wasn't easy to do at all. It was very, very hard. My hair is very dense and it's very long so imagine all that long, hair shrinking up. It was very, very difficult for me to pull my hair back. I should have probably like done a twist or a braid out to stretch out my hair before i did this. I don't know why i decided to do this on fully shrunken hair, but yeah um. It was hard, so i i tried to slick it back. The first time it didn't work, so i had to stop and go and look for some gel. I don't normally use gels, but in this scenario i need a gel, so i'm taking curly magic. As you can see, this is a mini container and it's from the travel size kit, so you can get a funky's daughter. So if you like to travel, i want to take hair products on your trips. They have the small little sizes that you can take with you, but yeah. I applied the gel and i used it on my hair and it made it a little bit easier for me to pull my hair back. The gel is quite slippery, so it made my hair even softer and even more malleable, so i'm just trying to sneak it back. Oh my god, this was a serious workout. My arms were on fire. I was eventually able to pull my hair back as best as i could. Then i'm going to be taking a hair tie and i'm just going to use that to secure my hair, oh yeah, i'm just adding more gel to the front. My hair still wasn't really really flat after i did this, but i'm going to show you guys what i did next to flatten it a little bit more. There were still parts that were sticking out. There was still hair. That was like sticking out. I had like little flyaways here and there but yeah, so i'm taking more gel and i'm just going to put that on my hair. This curly magic really came in handy for this style. I don't think i'd be able to do this without the curly magic gel. So that is just going to help to smooth out some of those flyaways and i'm taking the comb just to like do a little bit of brushing. So this is what my back puff looks like, so you can definitely leave the puff like this, but we're gon na take the style to the next level, as you guys saw in the beginning. So i'm taking more of that gel and i'm just applying it to the puff and i'm going to split the puff into three twists. So you want to make sure that you're twisting each section properly. Now i'm doing twist, two you can do more twist. If you like, you might not even have to do up to three. The purpose of this is so that we can put the twist into like a little bun and attach a ponytail to it. So now i'm going to take a scarf and just use that to tie my hair since 4c hair is very, very moldable. This scarf is really going to help to really press and flatten our hair to give it that flat. Sleek look so i've been tying. This thing on my head just to make everything smoother and press everything down. I went ahead and wore my outfits and did my makeup and now i'm about to take it out. So we'll see how it's looking. I have high hopes for this, so i left the scarf on for a few hours and now i am about to take it off. I don't know if i mentioned this, but this is my first time ever trying this sleek look this sleek ponytail look um. I don't really bother with these kinds of styles, because, like trying to flatten my hair is very very difficult, but for a first time i think it came out pretty decent. So i'm just using a little bit of edge control to clean up the fronts, because this is supposed to be like a sleek back look but yeah. This is how my hair is looking. I actually like how flat it looks made it look like i got a haircut, i'm just coming up close to show you guys now to take the style to the next level. I am going to be adding a ponytail. This ponytail, i'm using, is from natural hair, rocks it's a brand from nigeria, so i was really really excited to try their products. I'Ve been seeing them all over instagram and they always have like really nice hair pieces. So i was super super happy that they sent it to me and yeah. To be honest with you, this ponytail, as you can see, this is straight out of the pack. I didn't have to do anything to it. It is the first ever hair extension be clipping. Ponytail or anything like that, that is the exact same color. As my hair, i was shocked a perfect match. You guys can see normally when i have like hair extensions, clippings ponytails, all those kind of things usually a bit lighter than my hair, but this one was the exact same color as my hair exact same color, so i really did not need to do much. I just attached it with the combs pulled the drawstring to make it tighter, took a piece and wrapped it around, and that was it less than five minutes to attach this thing to your head less than five minutes. So by now the look was already looking complete. Like it was already looking good, but i like to be extra, so i'm just going to be putting some butterfly clips in my hair and i'm gon na be using the white ones, so it looks like the white butterflies in my hair. This look was so nice. You can definitely wear this out as a date night. Look. It was really giving like even photoshoot. Look, there's so many different places. I can wear this, so i can wear this to an event like. Oh, i love hairstyles like this. The entire look was just on point for me. If you don't like putting stuff in your hair, you can definitely skip the butterfly clips for me personally, oh my god. This is a look, especially with the glasses. It'S giving what it's supposed to give so yeah um. This is the final look. This is the first ponytail hair attachment clipping anything of that sort, the first ever one that is the exact same color as my hair. Normally, when i have like pony um hair attachments like this, usually like a little bit lighter than my hair, my hair is a bit darker, but this one is the exact exact same color as my hair. It fits my hair so well it fits my hair perfectly. I literally just took this out of the pack and attached it. I didn't have to do anything nothing at all and when i'm done with it, i'm going to take it off and hang it somewhere and whenever i want to wear it, just take it and put it on my head. That is it. So i like that this is very, very easy to use and it looks really really nice all the products. I use that from funky's daughter everything is going to be listed down below.
