During the COVID-19 global pandemic, we are stuck (safe) at home with stinky dogs! I know you want to keep your pup looking & smelling their best, so this is the first in a series of how-to videos focusing on the best ways to groom your dog yourself!

Stella's IG is @stellathepitty

My IG is @whitneysgrooming

I have been professionally grooming dogs since 2011, ask me anything in the comments!

Come on hi, I'm Whitney and you might know me from Whitney's mobile, pet grooming from Madison or Community Park dog washing room in Bay View Milwaukee, since we're all in quarantine. I figured it's a good time to learn how to wash your dogs yourself and, while you're all stuck at home together, I'm sure they're getting stinky. Our dog is getting stinky and she's gon na get a bath today I like to have treats on hand any kind of treats that are her favorite. I also like to have a picture. We don't have a shower head that has its own. We have our ever important blueberry facial. We have her special medicated shampoo that she has to use. I always always use a zoom groom on Stella, especially for short-haired dogs like pit bulls, boxers, Great Danes, even dogs, like German, Shepherds or labs. You know things like that. You really use it on any coat type. I'D like to have two different towels on hand, one towel. I like to lay on the bathroom floor and we're not dealing with a whole lot of room here. We do shut the door cuz, otherwise, once she gets up, she'll make a run for it. A lot of dogs, it's gon na be hard to get them in the bathtub. They take their leash or leave. There'S lots of treats put treats in the tub, but if your dog is trying to jump out of the tub, keep them on a slip lead slip. Lead is just a lead. That'S gon na go around their neck and pull tight so that you can't make back out of it. Keep that on. You can have two people, one person holding the slip lead when they have the doing all the work you can smear peanut butter on the wall and the dog will hopefully sit there and lips of peanut butter while you're doing the bath. You know a big toy in here you're trying to make it as positive as possible for them. So I got her head and face wet by pouring some water over with the picture, and then I get my little berry facial like this. I always try to get right in between their eyes really well, because that's my favorite place to pet a dog make sure not to get it in their eyes. If you buy the blueberry facial that we sell a community bark, it is non-toxic and of course, never want to get anything in your dog's eyes. But if you do it'll probably stay well, I just go around and make sure I get everywhere. Scrubbed really really well hit their ears, but make sure you're not getting water or shampoo in their ears that could lead to infections. I always make sure to get some of our champ, Oh in between her paw pads and just use. My finger like this. To kind of scrub it in there so just make sure you pay attention to each foot individually. Things I get the dirtiest on dogs are the parts that are hard to reach, underneath on her belly back underneath her tail and her, but you're gon na have to touch her butt and you have to get up into Haley just make sure it stays clean. Just like you do when you take a shower they're gon na want to look up, and so I always start head down just a little and keep their ears closed with one hand, so that no water is gon na get into it and then just pouring water. Over her head to rinse them off, and then I make sure squeegee off their face, because they're probably gon na shake right after you do it after the bath when they're still wet, is a great time to brush your dog, no matter what their coat type is. Brushing your dog while it's wet that air has more elasticity, so you're less likely to break the coax while you're blow-drying just make sure your blow-dryer is not on high and start by their foot, so they didn't fixture. One other thing: that's really important with bath time is to make sure that you get all of the shampoo off of your dog. If you don't, it can call hot spots and we will move on to teeth and ears.
